Troubled comedian ANDY DICK missed a performance in Canada on Wednesday (23Sep09) after he was denied entry at the border under the terms of his probation.
The Road Trip star was due to perform at the Vancouver Comedy Festival but Canadian authorities refused to allow him into the country because of the ankle bracelet he wears as part of his punishment for pleading guilty to drug possession and battery in October (08).
According to gossip blogger Perez Hilton, Dick, who is currently on three years’ probation for the offences, was shocked after finding out the device tracks his location and prohibits him from leaving the country.
Dick will remain under "house arrest", confining him to the U.S., until next month (Oct09) when the accessory is set to be removed.
As a result, the 43 year old has had to pull out of another comedy slot at the festival this week (25Sep09).

PATRICK SWAYZE’s grieving family said their final goodbyes to the actor in a cowboy-style wake - 24 hours before his death was announced to the world, according to a U.S. tabloid report.
News of the Ghost actor’s passing broke on 14 September (09), the date stated on his death certificate, but the National Enquirer claims Swayze, 57, actually lost his battle with pancreatic cancer the day before, on 13 September (09).
A family insider tells the publication Swayze was bedridden at his Los Angeles home in the week leading up to his death and slipped into a coma after being heavily medicated.
The star’s wife Lisa Niemi called Swayze’s mother Patsy and brother Donny in the early hours of 13 September and the trio kept a bedside vigil for more than an hour before he passed away.
A source says, "It was down to a matter of moments. They walked in and stood around Patrick’s bed. Patsy and Lisa held his hands and told him it was time to stop fighting. They told him they loved him and it was okay to go.
"By 10am he was gone. Lisa, Don and Patsy all sat quietly with him for a while." Niemi then reportedly prepared Swayze’s body for a "cowboy wake".
The source adds: "First Lisa removed the medicine and supplies from the room. Then she cleaned up Patrick and dressed him in a nice shirt and slacks. The bed linens were changed and Patrick was laid back down on the bed. He looked like he was napping. He was so peaceful." Forty of the actor’s close friends and family were invited to pay their respects to Swayze on the day of his death before his body was taken away by a coroner.
The source says, "Some just stood there looking at Patrick, saying silent prayers. Some kissed him goodbye, and some told his family how wonderful and brave he had been, and that they’d never forget him." Swayze was reportedly cremated last week (ends18Sep09). His ashes will be scattered across his beloved ranch in New Mexico later this month.

Actress JESSICA BIEL will join her boyfriend JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE to climb Mount Kilimanjaro this autumn (09) to raise money for charity.
The Blade: Trinity star has joined the team of celebrities recruited by Ethiopian-born singer Kenna to scale the 9,000-foot (5,890-metre) African peak as part of a fundraising and awareness effort for the worldwide water crisis.
She admits she only signed up for the trek after being "astonished" that more than a billion people in the world have no access to drinkable water.
The star says, "This is a basic human necessity that needs to be addressed now. (I want) to help any way I can in order to raise awareness toward the life-threatening clean water crisis happening not only in Africa but around the world."

ANGELINA JOLIE refuses to read press coverage about her and BRAD PITT - and is puzzled why people want to know about the couple.
The pair created a media storm when they got together in 2005, in the wake of his split from Jennifer Aniston.

But Jolie fails to understand why people are so interested in her clan - because their lives are unremarkable.

LILY ALLEN has backed out of the debate over illegal downloads - after she was hit by a torrent of abuse from angry music lovers.
The Smile hitmaker sparked controversy in the U.K. earlier this month (Sep09) when she called for a government crackdown on illicit file-sharing, insisting the practice will destroy the industry.
Several high-profile stars, including Sir Elton John and Muse frontman Matt Bellamy, backed Allen’s stance - but she also came in for a barrage of criticism from fans.
Just days after opening up the debate, Allen has announced she no longer wants to be involved in the campaign - closing down her blog and refusing to attend a summit meeting to discuss the issue.
She writes on Twitter.com, "There is a meeting today in London where artists are meeting to discuss Piracy. My job done. I won’t be attending the meeting because it’s going to be a press frenzy and I don’t want to detract from the issues. I’m proud of the fact that that I’ve been involved with this debate but I’m passing the baton on to other artists. And I’ve shut down the blog, the abuse was getting too much."

RAY WINSTONE’s actress daughter JAIME was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a night out with LILY ALLEN.
The Kidulthood star was dining in London’s Soho with her boyfriend Alfie Allen, his Smile hitmaker sister, and TV presenter Alexa Chung on Wednesday (23Sep09).
Winstone left the restaurant and returned to her car, but was later stopped by police officers who believed she was too drunk to be behind the wheel.
She was quizzed by cops at nearby Charing Cross station, but was found to be under the drink-drive limit and was released without charge.
A spokesperson for Scotland Yard says, "At approximately 12.15am a woman was arrested in Frith Street, Soho, on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol.
"The 24-year-old woman was taken to a central London police station and she was later released without further action." A rep for the actress insists she was trying to escape the tailing paparazzi when police swooped.

KELLY PRESTON broke down in tears as her husband JOHN TRAVOLTA recalled the tragic events leading up to their son JETT’s death in January (09) when he gave evidence at an extortion trial on Wednesday (23Sep09).
The Grease star’s 16-year-old son died after suffering a seizure during a family holiday in the Bahamas.
Former Bahamian Senator Pleasant Bridgewater and paramedic Tarino Lightbourne, who tended to the boy after the attack, are currently on trial in the Bahamas on charges of extortion.
They are accused of conspiring to release a document containing information about Jett’s death in a $25 million (£17.2 million) bribery plot against the Travoltas - claims they deny.
Travolta, a star witness in the trial, took the stand on Wednesday and relived the painful moments in which he realised he had lost his son.
The actor publicly admitted for the first time that Jett was autistic and told the court how he desperately attempted to resuscitate the teenager as he lay dying in Preston’s arms.
He said, "I took the place of the woman doing CPR. (Friend) Jeff Kathrein was doing compression, I was doing breathing… My wife was holding up his (Jett’s) head.
"Shortly after, the defibrillator arrived. (Kathrein) and I fitted my son with the defibrillator." As Preston struggled to regain her composure in court, Travolta revealed there was an unexpected delay in the lengthy journey from the family’s holiday home to the local hospital - when the emergency medical technicians (EMTs) changed shifts.
He added, "There was a stop where there was a switching of EMTs. I was asked to leave the ambulance." Jett was rushed into the emergency room upon arrival at the hospital, where doctors tried unsuccessfully to revive him.
It was then that Travolta realised, "No, he was not alive." The actor is expected to return to the stand on Thursday (24Sep09) to continue his testimony.

The family of DJ ROC RAIDA have confirmed the hip-hop pioneer died from a cardiac arrest after two operations on his spine.
The star, real name Anthony Williams, was hospitalised last week (ends18Sep09) after suffering a back injury during mixed martial arts practice.
He underwent two successful surgeries on his back and was reported to be making steps towards recovery. He died hours later, aged 37.
It was believed Williams died from complications in connection to the surgery, but his devastated relatives have revealed his passing was due a cardiac arrest brought on by the sudden trauma on his body.
His funeral will be held on Thursday (24Sep09) in New York.
The DJ, also known as Grandmaster Roc Raida, was one of the original members of turntable crew the X-Men, who later became known as The X-Ecutioners - and shot to stardom after producing tracks for artists including Fat Joe, Ghostface Killah, Linkin Park and Pink.

HEIDI RANGE has broken her silence over the axing of her former SUGABABES bandmate KEISHA BUCHANAN - insisting the trio "couldn’t work together any more".
Buchanan, a founding member of the hit U.K. girl band, was ditched from the line-up after rumours she had bullied fellow member Amelle Berrabah.

DAMON ALBARN is reportedly in talks to become the artistic director of the London Olympics opening ceremony in 2012.
The sporting event is heading to the U.K. capital and bosses are apparently keen on the Blur frontman having a hand in the extravaganza.
Albarn has already held preliminary discussions with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, according to British newspaper The Independent.

Heavy rockers METALLICA have donated $20,000 (£13,666) to a local charity in Canada.
The group played two sold-out shows in Montreal, Quebec at the weekend (19-20Sep09) and gave the box office takings - totalling 21,462 Canadian dollars - to Sun Youth, a community services organisation.
Co-founder Sid Stevens says, "It’s a beautiful gift." The band turns over part of its receipts to a local charity at every stop on tour - earlier this month (11Sep09), they raised $200,000 (£133,333) to help the local community in San Rafael, California, by playing their first ever hometown concert.

Legends including DOLLY PARTON, MERLE HAGGARD and KENNY ROGERS were honoured at a star-studded country music ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday night (22Sep09).
Randy Travis, Hank Williams Jr. and the late Jerry Reed and Harlan Howard were also named for their creative and commercial contributions to the musical genre by The Academy of Country Music.
Rogers, Travis, Williams Jr. and Reed were given the Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award, while Haggard and Howard were honoured with the Poet’s Award for their songwriting.
Parton received the Jim Reeves International Award for spreading awareness of country music abroad.
Williams Jr. was forced to pull out of attending due to "family reasons" and Parton accepted her award via a video link.
In her speech, Parton told the audience, "May we all make beautiful music for years to come." Vince Gill, Patty Loveless, Kellie Pickler and Carrie Underwood were among the stars performing at the ceremony, which was hosted by Lee Ann Womack.

SIMON COWELL is hammering out a deal to bring hit British TV talent contest THE X FACTOR to American audiences.
The music mogul has become a hugely popular TV star in the U.S. as an American Idol panelist, as well as being a hit with viewers in his native Britain through his annual judging stints on singing competition The X Factor.

PATRICK SWAYZE was left seething on the set of DIRTY DANCING - because JENNIFER GREY kept ruining their scenes by bursting into bouts of laughter.
The pair played star-crossed lovers in the hit 1987 romantic movie, but Swayze admitted Grey could sometimes be difficult to work with.
In his forthcoming autobiography, The Time of My Life, he wrote, "We did have a few moments of friction when we were tired or after a long day of shooting. (Grey) seemed particularly emotional, sometimes bursting into tears if someone criticized her. Other times, she slipped into silly moods, forcing us to do scenes over and over again when she’d start laughing.
"I was on overdrive for the whole shoot - staying up all night to do rewrites, squeezing in dance rehearsals, shooting various scenes - and was exhausted a lot of the time. I didn’t have a whole lot of patience for doing multiple retakes." And Swayze reveals that on the day of shooting their iconic dance practice in a lake, he had had enough - because the chilly temperatures in the water almost crippled him.
He added, "It was horrifyingly, hypothermically cold in that lake, and we filmed that scene over and over. And despite the fact that Jennifer was very light, when you’re lifting someone in water, even the skinniest little girl can feel like 500 pounds." But the actor forgave his co-star for her on-set antics, insisting she did a "truly phenomenal job" and that "in many ways, she made the movie." The book is set to be released in the U.S. next week (begs28Sep09), as well an audio version Swayze recorded before his death from pancreatic cancer earlier this month (Sep09).
