BARRYMORE: ‘I’M NOT SOBER’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:54 pm

DREW BARRYMORE has confessed she’s not completely sober after a youth spent battling drug and alcohol issues and a stint in rehab.
The actress claims to have found "balance" in her life, which means she doesn’t have to cut out all the things she used to be addicted to.
In a new Parade magazine interview, the Charlie’s Angels actress says, "I’m not (sober) and I don’t claim to be - quite the opposite. I’ve tried to find the balance. I hope it’s balanced." Barrymore has always been open about her addictive past - she had her first sip of alcohol when she was nine, began smoking marijuana at the age of 10, and first took cocaine at 12.
According to reports, her mother staged an intervention when Barrymore was a teenager and checked her into the ASAP Family Treatment Center rehab hospital.
The actress quit the facility after 12 days.

And Lopez admits playing a movie mum is different now she is a real-life parent.
She says, "I’d done it before, I’d had children in movies. But now I have a whole new perspective.
"It’s so totally different than you could ever imagine - what you feel and how it changes you, and how you see things."

ROBERTS FILMING IN WORLD’S WETTEST PLACE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:51 pm

JULIA ROBERTS is getting soaked in one of the world’s wettest places, so scenes in her new movie are shot in the rain.
The actress and the crew of Eat, Pray, Love are heading for Cherrapunji in north-east India after winding up a film shoot at a Pataudi ashram.
Cherrapunji holds the record of annual rainfall - of about 905 inches.
And that’s not the only interesting thing about the place, as U.S. Indian statesman Rajan Zed tells WENN: "It is inhabited by Khasis who, unlike most of India, follow matrilineal culture, where a husband lives with his wife’s family and his children take their mother’s surname." Zed, who is among leading Hindus with ties to Hollywood, is hoping Roberts uses the rich culture of the area to fuel her interest in India.
He adds, "I understand Ms. Roberts has visited a nearby village, where large numbers of villagers reportedly congregated to have a look at her.
"I urge Julia to visit the fascinating Hindu temples in Meghalaya and nearby Assam while shooting in the Cherrapunji area to explore her spirituality further. It would complement her interest in yoga and all things Indian."

CLOONEY’S MEDICAL MIX-UP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:51 pm

GEORGE CLOONEY was left in a panic when he broke his hand last month (Aug09) - because his driver took him to a dentist instead of a doctor.
The Ocean’s Eleven star was on his $6 million (£4 million) property in Lake Como, northern Italy when he mangled his fingers in a car door.
But rather than taking him to a medic to treat the injury, one of the actor’s entourage took him to a dentist by mistake.
Clooney tells Britain’s Hello! magazine, "I was getting out (of a minivan) and someone slammed the door on it. I knew immediately it was broken because a bone was sticking out of it. So the Italian guy who does the driving for me says, ‘Get into the car, I’ll take care of you.’ "He drives me into town… and he takes me to a dentist. Dentist’s chair, dentist’s lamp, everything. The guy comes in, pulls the dentist’s lamp down onto my hand.
"He starts pulling on my fingers, which really hurts. At last, he says, ‘Hmm, I think it’s broken…’ I’m saying, ‘Is there a real doctor anywhere in here?’" After insisting on proper medical attention, Clooney was taken across the border to Switzerland for treatment - and is now back at home recuperating.
He adds, "In the end, they got me into a hospital in Lugano, the hand was x-rayed and I was in and out in 20 minutes. It’s doing fine now."

Asked during an interview with the BBC when the U.K. could expect to have a black prime minister, he replied: "I don’t know. When are we going to have a good prime minister?" Last year (08), Mills announced he was considering a career in politics after Barack Obama was elected U.S. President.

MARK RONSON is determined to kick his partying lifestyle - he is preparing to climb Mount Kilimanjaro for charity.
The superproducer has agreed to tackle the 19,000-foot (5,890 metre) peak in Africa with a number of pals, to help raise money for a good cause.
And he is taking the trek seriously - declaring that he will give up booze, cigarettes, and drugs to improve his fitness.
He writes on his personal Twitter.com page, "I told my friend Kenna that I would attempt Mt. Kilimanjaro with him and several others as part of his charity climb. I was sober.
"Goodbye cigarettes, alcohol, recreational pharmaceuticals. Hello, um, whatever else is left… cheese plates?" Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:48 pm

DENNIS QUAID’s brother RANDY and his wife EVI are wanted by police in California after allegedly failing to pay a $10,000 (£6,670) hotel bill.
The couple is accused of racking up the debt during a stay at the luxury San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara in June (09).
According to reports, the Brokeback Mountain star attempted to charge the bill to his credit card - but it was declined and he failed to produce another form of payment before leaving the resort without settling the invoice.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of both Randy and Evi Quaid on Monday (21Sep09) on felony charges of allegedly burglarising and defrauding the hotel owner.
A representative for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the news on Thursday (24Sep09) and said an arrest had yet to be made.
It’s not the first legal woe for the pair this year (09) - private investigator Becky Altringer is suing the Quaids for $19,000 (£12,667) in unpaid fees after they hired her to investigate death threats and an insurance fraud against them.

MACKENZIE PHILLIPS: ‘DAD DIDN’T MEAN TO HURT ME’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:45 pm

Actress MACKENZIE PHILLIPS has urged fans of THE MAMAS & THE PAPAS to separate their judgements of her father JOHN PHILLIPS’ professional work from his "personal demons", after revealing he raped her when she was a teenager.
The troubled star tells all about her decade-long sexual relationship with her dad in new memoir High On Arrival, describing how a sexual assault on the eve of her wedding to Jeff Sessler in 1979 turned into a perverse consensual act, which ended when she became pregnant.
The former child star appeared on Oprah Winfrey’s TV talk show on Wednesday (23Sep09) to open up further about the incestuous affair, but now she’s keen to make sure her shocking revelations don’t taint her dad’s musical legacy.
She tells America’s Today Show, "My father was not a bad man, he was a very sick man. If anybody out there can separate his body of work from his personal demons, I think that would be the honourable thing to do.
"He did not set out to hurt me, he did the best with what he had. He was a damaged guy." And she is keen to set the record straight about reports their relationship was consensual for a decade.
She says, "People say for 10 years I had this relationship, but, at 18, I was molested, then maybe three years later, I started waking up with my pants around my ankles, and then maybe two years later, it became consensual, so to call it a 10-year affair or a 10-year relationship is not correct.
"This is not something that happens like that (immediately); this is a warped event that occurred over time and what it started out as, which was an act of molestation, and what it became are two entirely different things.
"I had no accountability for the initial event. I believe I have some accountability for what went down afterwards, although I believe that incest of any kind is a betrayal; it’s an abuse of power, so to characterise it as an incestuous 10-year affair is not well informed."

EMINEM’S PUBLISHERS GO TO COURT OVER DOWNLOAD DRAMA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:42 pm

EMINEM and Apple Inc bosses are heading to court over 93 songs the rap star’s publishers never gave them permission to pass off as downloads.
The two parties have failed to settle a 2007 lawsuit over the tracks, which were offered to fans via the iTunes music service.
The heads of Eminem’s music publisher, Eight Mile Style LLC, accused Apple of using their client’s songs without permission. The publishers also sued Aftermath Records bosses, stating they had no right to approve the digital downloads.
The non-jury trial is expected to start in Eminem’s native Detroit, Michigan on Thursday (24Sep09).
Eminem’s publishers claim Apple gained $2.58 million (£1.72 million) from the iTunes downloads, including over $465,000 (£310,000) from the rapper’s hit Lose Yourself.
The trial is expected to last five to seven days.

PHILLIPS MADE PEACE WITH DYING DAD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:39 pm

MACKENZIE PHILLIPS made peace with her father for molesting her as a teenager as he lay on his deathbed.
The troubled actress has revealed all about her incestuous relationship with late The Mamas & The Papas singer John Phillips in her new memoir High On Arrival, in which she describes how she was first raped by her father on the eve of her 1979 marriage.
The former child star admits the sexual encounters over a 10-year period eventually became consensual - and the sick romance only ended when she fell pregnant.
Despite her bombshell allegations, Phillips insists her rocker dad meant her no harm, and she reveals she had the chance to sit down with her ailing father to clear the air before his death from heart failure in 2001.
In an appearance on America’s Today Show on Thursday (24Sep09), she says, "I did take the opportunity when he was dying to sit down with him and talk with him and forgive him and it was kind of a beautiful act."

THERAPIST AGREED TO KEEP PHILLIPS INCEST SHOCKER SECRET

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:39 pm

Top celebrity addiction expert DR. DREW PINSKY agreed to keep actress MACKENZIE PHILLIPS’ incest revelations a secret after she opened up to him about her relationship with her father JOHN during a televised session.
Phillips has revealed all about her perverse decade-long love affair with the Mamas & The Papas founder in a new memoir, and spoke out about the incest on U.S. TV show Oprah on Wednesday (23Sep09) - but Pinsky knew all about it months ago.
He explains the topic of Phillips’ incestuous relationship with her father came up while shooting the upcoming season of VH1 reality show Celebrity Rehab.
Pinsky tells news show Extra he and Phillips talked about the relationship in private, but, out of respect for her family, she told him she didn’t want those discussions televised.
But now the sick romance is out in the open, Pinsky reveals, "(John Phillips was) almost a cult leader, where he was sort of using mind control over people and telling them that his way of seeing things was the right way.
"When you’re a kid, you have no other way of seeing things and if you’re then given drugs and addicted at the same time, it’s hopeless for the young person.
"This was despicable situation." Phillips told Oprah host Oprah Winfrey her first sexual encounter with her father took place on the night before her wedding to Jeff Sessler in 1979, and was not consensual.
The incestuous relationship ended 10 years later after Phillips fell pregnant and aborted the child she feared was her father’s.
The new season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, which features Mackenzie Phillips, will air in early 2010.
