Slain rapper TUPAC SHAKUR’s writings are to be archived by scholars in Atlanta, Georgia.
Officials at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation, including the late rapper’s mother, have teamed with experts at the Robert W. Woodruff Library of the Atlanta University Center to prepare Shakur’s writings for "scholarly research".
The manuscripts will feature poetry and prose the late rap star wrote from the age of 19.
Scholars hope to complete the official Tupac Shakur Collection by the end of 2010 - and make the works available to those studying rap and African-American culture.
The rapper’s mother Afeni Shakur-Davis says, "The Woodruff Library Archives has done a phenomenal job archiving my son’s materials. I thank their staff for partnering with my family and the foundation in helping to make these important documents available in a professional manner that will benefit scholars for years to come."

LEONARD COHEN has performed in Israel for the first time in 30 years, despite fears for his health and controversy surrounding the concert.
The veteran singer/songwriter, who turned 75 on Monday (21Sep09), collapsed onstage during a show in Spain last Friday (18Sep09) - but he was simply suffering from stomach flu.
And he refused to let his illness ruin his birthday plans, or a historic show in Tel Aviv on Thursday night (24Sep09).
But the concert at Ramat Gan stadium wasn’t without incident - Palestinian activists urged Cohen to scrap the gig almost as soon as the tickets went on sale, as a protest about Israel’s invasion of Gaza in January (09), which cost more than 1,100 Palestinians their lives.
Cohen responded by offering to perform in the West Bank city of Ramallah as well and announced proceeds from both shows would go to Israeli-Palestinian peace groups, via the singer’s new Fund for Reconciliation, Tolerance and Peace.
But militants still opposed the Israel show, prompting Cohen’s manager Robert Kory to tell the Associated Press, "There are a lot of people who don’t want us here, and anything done here invites controversy, but we believe freedom of speech is very, very important." The singer appeared healthy and well-dressed as he performed hits and fan favourites from his remarkable career. Cohen last performed in Israel in 1975.

Guitar greats JEFF BECK and ERIC CLAPTON have announced plans to hit the stage together for an epic joint concert in London in February (10).
The O2 Arena show will mark the first time the two rock icons have appeared together in their native Britain.
Beck and Clapton shared the stage together for the first time ever at a show in Japan in February (09).
The duo had previously performed together during festival shows, but hadn’t actually shared the bill.
In a statement announcing the London show on St. Valentine’s Day eve (13Feb10), Clapton says, "I’ve always considered Jeff Beck to be one of the finest guitar players around. He’s a friend, a great guy, and a truly gifted musician. We had such a fun time in Japan that it seemed natural to play together again."

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star DANA DELANEY suffered an eye infection recently after trying to compete with her co-stars’ bushy eyelashes.
The actress has revealed that she was among the cast members who agreed to try a new cosmetics product, which promises to help ladies grow lush lashes - but she struggled with the side effects.
She says, "I used that stuff that all the women are using - the eyelash stuff to make their eyelashes grow… There’s a couple of ladies on the show, they have bushes for eyelashes. They have the longest eyelashes I’ve ever seen in my life.
"My eyes got all red and itchy… so I stopped using it… And you can get dark eyelids, but then you don’t need eyeliner."

British actor STEPHEN MOYER is giving his beloved dog a key role in his upcoming wedding to TRUE BLOOD co-star ANNA PAQUIN - the pet pooch will be the ringbearer at the ceremony.
The couple, which has been dating since meeting on the set of the U.S. vampire drama in the summer of 2007, announced its engagement last month (Aug09).
The stars have yet to set a date for their nuptials, but Moyer reveals he’s already appointed his border collie to the top role - choosing his furry friend over his young son, Billy.
He says, "We haven’t planned anything. (But) Splash, my alpha, will be the ringbearer. My son might be unhappy about that!" Billy, born in 2000, is Moyer’s child from a previous relationship. The actor is also father to daughter Lilac, who was born in 2002.

New movie couple VINCE VAUGHN and MALIN AKERMAN are expecting a "baby boom" among the crew of their new movie COUPLES’ RETREAT - because everyone fell in love while they were shooting in paradise.
Co-star Jean Reno conceived a baby during filming in Bora Bora and Vaughn and Akerman are confident more children will be born thanks to the new movie, which also stars Kristin Davis, Jon Favreau and Jason Bateman.
Vaughn tells WENN, "Jean Reno was such a nice guy and I really enjoyed my time with him. He just had a baby who was conceived in Bora Bora." Akerman adds, "I think a lot of people conceived in Bora Bora. It was beautiful and romantic. We’ll be having a baby boom from all the crew members."

Troubled actress MACKENZIE PHILLIPS hopes her family will emerge "stronger" from the incest controversy she sparked by detailing her perverse relationship with her late father, despite the fact many relatives have ostracised her.
The former child star details her sick romance with the late The Mamas & The Papas singer John Phillips in her new memoir High On Arrival, revealing she had an incestuous romance with the California Dreamin’ singer for a decade.
Her accusations have split her family in two - her sister Chyna Phillips and ex-stepmum Genevieve Phillips, John’s wife from 1972 to 1985, have voiced their support for the former child star, while others have been less supportive.
On Wednesday (23Sep09) her former stepmother Michelle Phillips, who was married to John from 1962 to 1970, blasted the recovered drug addict for further spilling the details of her relationship with her dad in a highly-publicised TV interview with Oprah Winfrey, suggesting the allegations were made up.
She told The Hollywood Reporter’s Roger Friedman, "John was a bad parent, and a drug addict… (but) if she thinks it’s true, why isn’t she with a good psychiatrist on a couch? …I have every reason to believe it’s untrue. Oprah should be more judicious about who she has on her show.
"Mackenzie has a lot of mental illness. She’s had a needle stuck up her arm for 35 years." The actress wishes relations between her and Michelle were better, but admits she can’t blame her and other family members for refusing to believe her claims.
During an appearance on America’s Today Show on Thursday (24Sep09), Mackenzie said, "I love my family, I’ve gone out of my way to tell my story in High On Arrival. And our experiences with our dad were very different, thank God.
"I love my sisters, I love my brothers, I love Michelle. I wish that I had all of their support but I don’t and that’s alright, I understand. This is very difficult, and to be revealed on a public level just like this is very difficult and my heart goes out to them. God willing, as a family we will be stronger when this all dies down." But Phillips has one person she can always count on - her son Shane, born in 1987, from her romance with rocker Michael Barakan, aka Shane Fontayne.
She adds, "I sat down with him about a month ago, and I said you need to prepare. As a family we need to prepare for some of the hard truths that are going to come out of this book. I sat down and took him through it and he looked at me and put his head on my shoulder and said, ‘Poor mama. You better tell dad!’ He’s an amazing kid and nothing but supportive of me."

Model JAYDE NICOLE has added to JOE FRANCIS’ legal woes - she’s suing the GIRLS GONE WILD founder for $1 million (£666,700) over an alleged bar brawl.
Nicole, the girlfriend of U.S. reality TV star Brody Jenner, claims "an intoxicated and uncontrollable" Francis attacked her in Los Angeles nightclub Guys & Dolls in July (09).
She insists Francis, "who weighs over 200 lbs, physically attacked plaintiff Nicole, approximately 115 lbs, by pulling on her hair from behind to gain maximum control over her person and then violently shoving and/or throwing her to the ground of the nightclub like a rag-doll." Nicole claims she suffered a "black-eye, swollen face, bruised ribs, sore and bruised abdomen region, bruised arms and legs, ripped-out hair, and utter emotional distress and humiliation" as a result of the encounter, and is suing for $1 million plus punitive damages.
Francis has responded, calling his accuser "an absolute and total liar" and suggesting her remarks are "not only slanderous and defamatory, but actionable".
He tells TMZ.com, "Jayde, have you seen a picture of me lately? I’m 175 pounds soaking wet." The Girls Gone Wild creator insists he was the victim of the attack and surveillance camera footage will back up his side of the story.
The adult filmmaker escaped a prison sentence in a tax evasion trial after striking a plea deal with Los Angeles prosecutors earlier this week (beg21Sep09) and he’s also embroiled in a lawsuit against three former employees he claims tried to embezzle cash from him.
Francis is also under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for the altercation with Nicole.

BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN star RANDY QUAID and his wife have been arrested in Texas in connection with charges they failed to pay a hotel bill.
The couple is accused of racking up the debt during a stay at the luxury San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara in June (09).
A judge issued a warrant for the couple’s arrest after hotel bosses claimed the Quaids had left without settling a $10,000 (£6,660) bill.
Houston native Quaid and his wife Evi were arrested in rural Marfa on Thursday afternoon (24Sep09), according to People.com. As WENN went to press the couple was in custody awaiting arraignment.
Reports suggest the actor assaulted arresting sheriff’s deputies physically and verbally.
Bail has been set at $20,000 (£13,300) each.
According to reports, the Brokeback Mountain star attempted to charge the bill to his credit card - but it was declined and he failed to produce another form of payment before leaving the resort.
The couple faces felony charges of allegedly burglarising and defrauding the hotel owner.

SPICE GIRLS star MELANIE BROWN has shot down reports the WANNABE hitmakers will be reuniting for a performance at the soccer World Cup in 2010 - but reveals the girl group is planning a pop return.
The five-piece reformed for a final world tour in 2007, but reports of a second, full-scale reunion were sparked by singer Geri Halliwell earlier this week (begs21Sep09).
Halliwell hinted she was in talks with Brown, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton and Melanie Chisholm over plans for a comeback, saying, "We are gathering information about a possibility." On Thursday (24Sep09), British tabloids suggested the Spice Girls were eyeing the 2010 soccer championships in South Africa for a possible spectacular, but Brown has laughed off the "silly" claims in a post on her Twitter.com blog.
She writes, "World cup! wow the press are soo (sic) silly. no I am not getting the girls together for the world cup!!!" But fans still have every reason to hope for another Spice Girls reunion - Brown adds, "We are getting together for other reasons!"

MICHAEL JACKSON’s estate is facing another creditor’s claim from a Las Vegas security firm over an outstanding 2008 bill.
The late King of Pop is accused of failing to pay Steven Echols DBA Security Measures $261,169 (£174,113) after company bosses provided round-the-clock assistance to Jackson and his three kids, reports TMZ.com.
Legal documents recently filed in the late singer’s probate case state Jackson racked up a bill of $119,000 (£79,335) in September 2008 alone, while he reportedly owed another $99,000 (£66,000) for the following month (Oct08).
The security bill is the latest financial matter the pop star’s estate has had to deal with - last week (ends18Sep09), Jackson’s personal hair stylist, Lynda Parrish, also lodged a claim for unpaid wages.

NICOLE KIDMAN, SHANIA TWAIN, NAOMI CAMPBELL and TYRA BANKS joined Britain’s first lady SARAH BROWN and QUEEN RANIA of Jordan in New York on Wednesday (23Sep09) to show their support for a women’s charity.

The gala was also held to support the Millennium Development Goal, which aims to reduce the number of women who die from childbirth every year.

JESSICA SIMPSON has found an unlikely shoulder to cry on after her dog was snatched by a coyote outside her home in California - MICHAEL JACKSON’s ex-wife DEBBIE ROWE.
Simpson was left devastated when her Maltipoo Daisy was attacked and dog-napped by a feasting coyote earlier this month (Sep09).
The pop star urged neighbours to help her find the dog and officials at a professional pooch-finding service volunteered their time to launch a full search near Simpson’s home.
Little Daisy is still missing, presumed dead - and Jackson’s ex has come forward to sympathise with the singer.
She tells Us Weekly magazine that she lost a dog in a similar fashion back in 2004.
Rowe insists she has never fully recovered from the grisly death of her basset hound Ruufus, who was killed by coyotes, and Simpson’s loss brought the horror back to her.
She tells the publication, "I’m very sorry for her loss… Coyotes are smart and hunt very well in L.A. When dogs are small, you can’t leave them out alone, especially at daybreak, night time and evening." Rowe admits she found a way to get a little closure: "We were able to do the ‘country thing’ - we shot the coyote and hung the skin on the fence. The coyotes moved on after a few days."

The father of late model ANNA NICOLE SMITH has died after losing his battle with lung cancer.
Donald Hogan was buried on Tuesday (22Sep09) after passing away in a hospice, where he had been living after refusing to undergo treatment for his condition.
His daughter, Amy Chapman Hogan, tells EOnline.com that "he had a lump in his chest that kept giving him a lot of pain. But, for some reason, the X-rays didn’t find it. By the time the doctors diagnosed it he was in the last stages of lung cancer.
"He just wanted to go home. We just buried him on Tuesday. It’s been a tough week." And Chapman Hogan insists the 62 year old would have been pleased that Smith’s lover and lawyer Howard K. Stern was arraigned on Wednesday (23Sep09) - because he had always blamed Stern for his daughter’s death.
She adds, "Dad would have been really happy about that." Stern is charged with 11 felony counts of conspiring with two doctors to provide prescription drugs for his companion, who died of an overdose in 2007.

BRITNEY SPEARS is following in the footsteps of her idol MADONNA - she is bringing out another greatest hits collection.
To celebrate 10 years in the music industry, Spears is releasing The Singles Collection, five years after her first ‘best of’ package, My Prerogative, back in 2004.
The ultimate fan box set will go on sale at the end of November (09) and will include all 29 of Spears’ singles and a DVD with all of her videos, as well as a photo booklet chronicling her career to date.
The release will come just two months after Madonna’s third greatest hits release, Celebration, which hit stores earlier this month (Sep09).

EMINEM paid tribute to rapper/actor LL COOL J at the VH1 Hip Hop Honors event in New York on Wednesday night (23Sep09) when he joined THE ROOTS onstage for a rendition of ROCK THE BELLS.
Eminem was an unannounced special guest, who stepped onstage at the Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn to rap with Roots star Black Thought.

Speaking at the New Yorkers For Children Fall Gala in Manhattan on Wednesday (23Sep09), where she was honoured for her philanthropy, the singer said, "I don’t think I’ll do foster care or adopt, to be quite honest. I barely have time for my own children. To adopt more children and not have time for them, that (would be) poor parenting on my (part)." Blige has no plans to start a family of her own, but insists she would happily volunteer to help less privileged youngsters.
