WILLIAMS’ ADDICTION NEARLY KILLED HIM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:33 am

Pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS almost died after an addiction to prescription drugs he took to battle a deep depression spiralled out of control.
The Angels hitmaker spent three years fighting an addiction to painkillers and anti-depressants before checking into the Meadows rehab centre in Arizona on his 33rd birthday in 2007, realising he would die if he didn’t get professional help.
He recalls, "It was damn serious. Robbie Williams does not go into rehab just if his life gets a bit out of control. Death had to knock on my door to help me with my decision." The singer became heavily depressed during his wild days as a member of U.K. boyband Take That and turned to prescription medication to help him beat his reliance on alcohol and cocaine - but the pills proved to be just as dangerous.
His former manager Kevin Kinsella explains, "Drugs came very close to destroying the Robbie we all know and love. And there were three occasions when he nearly died. He was so out of it. At the height of his drug-taking he was doing an ounce of coke a day. That’s no exaggeration. He was out of control." The singer credits girlfriend Ayda Fields with turning his life around - but he admits he still lives in fear of relapsing: "I’m aware I have a self-destructive character. But does this hold me back from being happy? No."

DUNST AND PEGG TESTIFY IN THEFT TRIAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:30 am

KIRSTEN DUNST and SIMON PEGG were in court on Thursday (24Sep09) to testify against a second man accused of stealing the stars’ possessions from a hotel room in August 2007.
Jarrod Beinerman, 34, was sentenced to four and a half years in jail last September (08) after confessing to illegally entering a suite at New York’s SoHo Grand and taking a number of items, including the actress’ designer handbag.
His alleged accomplice in the burglary, James Jimenez, is now on trial and faces up to 15 years behind bars if convicted of the crime.
Dunst told jurors at the State Supreme Court in Manhattan how she and Pegg had discovered their belongings were snatched from the room shortly after filming the final scenes of their movie How to Lose Friends and Alienate People.
She recalled, "It was our last night of filming, so we were celebrating… It was probably a $2,000 purse. My purse had $2,000 in it, a pair of sunglasses, my wallet with all my credit cards." Pegg, whose iPod and camera were taken, later took to the stand and explained, "It dawns on you slowly because, obviously, you don’t want to think that happened." A member of the film crew, Henry Mackintosh, told the court that the suspects pretended to be maintenance men to gain entry.
He said, "They said they were from engineering and they’d come to fix a drain. I said we hadn’t asked for engineering to come up." The trial continues.

JACKSON: ‘MADONNA WAS IN LOVE WITH ME’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:30 am

MICHAEL JACKSON was convinced MADONNA was madly in love with him - but he didn’t return her feelings because she was "not sexy at all".
The King of Pop befriended the singer in the early 1990s and several dates followed, but Jackson revealed he never had any romantic interest in her during a taped conversation with his close friend Rabbi Shmuley Boteach.
Jackson told Boteach, "I think she (Madonna) likes shock value and she knows how to push buttons on people. I think she was sincerely in love with me and I was not in love with her. She did a lot of crazy things. I knew we had nothing in common.
"She is not sexy at all. I think sexy comes form the heart in the way you present yourself." The Thriller icon believed Madonna was one of several stars who envied his fame: "They admire you and know you are wonderful and great because they are jealous, because they wish they were in your shoes. Madonna is one of them. She is jealous. She is a girl, a woman and I think that’s what bothers her…
"I get the fainting and adulation and she doesn’t." The star went on to confess he had considered dating actress Elizabeth Taylor but feared the media would mock their 27-year age gap.
He said, "I know that if we ever did anything romantically the press would be so mean and nasty and call us the Odd Couple. It would turn into a circus and that’s the pain of it all." Jackson also described the late Princess Diana as his ideal woman: "I thought she was very special - very feminine and classy. She was my type for sure, and I don’t like most girls. There are very few I like who fit the mould. It takes a very special mould to make me happy and she was one of them." Boteach, who is publishing the conversations, maintains Jackson wanted the footage to be released to the public so his fans could gain a better understanding of his personal life.

O’NEAL ENTERS REHAB

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:24 am

REDMOND O’NEAL moved from a California prison cell into a drug rehab facility on Thursday (24Sep09) to continue his battle against addiction.
The 24-year-old son of actor Ryan O’Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett will spend a year undergoing intensive treatment at the Impact Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center in Pasadena, California, in a final bid to kick his drug habit once and for all.
O’Neal had been serving time behind bars in connection to a January 2008 drug arrest and a probation violation.
He was sentenced to a year at the in-patient rehab and placed on three years of formal probation in Santa Clarita, California last week (18Sep09).
His attorney tells People.com, "Redmond has embraced recovery. All of his reports are extremely positive. He has taken huge steps towards his new life. This has been a very challenging time for Redmond. He lost his mother while in recovery. He loved his mother dearly and that was extremely hard on him. It would be challenging for anybody, much less a 24-year-old coming to grips with his addiction and recovery." Fawcett died on 25 June (09) after losing her battle with cancer.

RUTHERFORD WINS TEMPORARY RESTRAINING ORDER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:24 am

GOSSIP GIRL star KELLY RUTHERFORD has obtained a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband after accusing him of following and threatening her.
The actress alleges Daniel Giersch has been regularly trailing her, her mother and nanny to "show up unexpectedly to threaten and scare us", according to the order filed at Los Angeles Superior Court.
The documents include a statement from Rutherford’s mother, Ann Edwards, who claims the German businessman once arrived at a restaurant where she was eating with the couple’s two-year-old son, Hermes, and blocked them from leaving the establishment.
Rutherford’s nanny also maintains she has quit working for the family because of Giersch’s aggressive behaviour, accusing him of threatening to sue her after she refused to answer questions about Rutherford.
An attorney for Giersch has refuted the claims, adding, "Daniel will remain focused on co-parenting both of their children and not make any personal comments in order to continue to protect the children’s need for privacy and wellbeing." The couple is in the middle of a messy divorce and custody battle over Hermes and three-month-old daughter Helena.
A hearing is set for 15 October (09).

BARBRA STREISAND suffered crippling stagefright for 27 years after forgetting the words to a song during a performance in New York’s Central Park.
The diva stepped away from the stage shortly after the incident and has only recently rediscovered her confidence again.
And it was one maddening moment that kept her out of the spotlight.
She explains, "In front of 135,000 in Central Park - my free concert in Cental Park - I forgot the words and it sort of triggered this feeling that I would forget the words… I didn’t perform again until they discovered teleprompters." And that became a problem during a 1986 concert: "I was singing America The Beautiful (and) I didn’t count on (the fact) the people would stand up in front of the teleprompter."

LONGORIA PARKER LOVES HER BEACH HOME

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:03 am

EVA LONGORIA PARKER refused to pay millions of dollars for a luxury beachside property in California - because she already has enough homes across the U.S.
The Desperate Housewives star and husband Tony Parker own sprawling mansions in Los Angeles and Texas, where the basketball player is based.
The couple, who wed in 2007, wanted to expand their portfolio with a property in Malibu, California - but opted for a tiny beachfront home instead of a massive mansion.
She tells Britain’s Hello! magazine, "We bought it to get away from L.A. It’s our sanctuary and we love it. It’s tiny and really quaint and the view is insane.
"I have a belief that there is such a thing as too much and the last thing we need is another big house. There’s no need to over-extend yourself.
"I just don’t like having so many things. It begins to clutter your life. This is very enjoyable and low maintenance and it’s truly a gift to spend time here."
