HASSELHOFF WANTS COURT CAMERA BAN
DAVID HASSELHOFF is urging law chiefs to ban cameras from U.S. courtrooms - comparing jurors in criminal trials to unpaid reality show stars.
The Baywatch actor got a harsh introduction to the realities of the legal system when he was called up for jury duty and the defendant recognised him.
Hasselhoff was further frustrated when a paparazzo took a photograph of him leaving the court building - and he is now calling for an overhaul of the court process in the U.S.
He says, "I have really strong opinions on this. I think it’s a terrible thing because it invades people’s privacy. It’s getting people to appear on a reality show for free, and your anonymity’s gone.
"I was in court to do jury duty and I was going to say to them, ‘I can’t be on jury duty’. First, I’m on America’s Got Talent, I might buzz them off! I was actually photographed going from one courthouse to the next and it was actually on the internet, so my anonymity is gone.
"So then I go into the courtroom and I see the criminal who is being prosecuted and he looks over at me. He knows who I am. They can come after my wiener dogs or my birds or my children or me. It was really disconcerting.
"Even with the O.J. (Simpson) trial - maybe it’s because he got better ratings than me! I was mad about that! But I think it’s very invasive."
