RABBI: ‘JACKSON GAVE UP ON LIFE’
MICHAEL JACKSON’s former friend and spiritual advisor RABBI SHMULEY BOTEACH fears the King of Pop lost the will to live after realising he couldn’t help the world’s children.
The celebrated life coach was Jackson’s companion for years until they fell out in 2002, and now he’s speaking out about his feelings for the pop superstar in his first TV interview since his former pal died in June (09).
Boteach, who called Jackson’s death "an American tragedy" in a statement released just after the star passed, insists his friend had "a death wish".
In a Dateline TV special, which will air in America on Friday (25Sep09), the Rabbi airs taped conversations between him and Jackson for the first time and speaks candidly about his dead friend.
He says, "I think he was just going through the motions of life towards the end, and medicating away almost any kind of human response."
