EX MOTOWN BOSS’ ASSAULT CHARGE DROPPED
Former MOTOWN RECORDS boss KEDAR MASSENBURG has escaped prosecution for allegedly attacking a police officer and stealing his badge after a night out in New York.
The music mogul - who ran the label from 1997 to 2004 and launched the career of Erykah Badu - was accused of smashing a bottle over the head of an off-duty New Jersey cop during bust-up at B.B. King’s blues club in June (09).
When the entertainment guru discovered suspended officer Sean Bradforth was a cop, he allegedly fled the scene, taking his badge with him.
Massenburg’s lawyer argued Bradforth sparked the dispute, which the music boss claimed was purely verbal.
Manhattan prosecutors dropped the felony assault charge against Massenburg on Thursday (17Sep09).
