CHEF’S PLAGIARISM SUIT AGAINST SEINFELD DISMISSED
A New York judge has dismissed a chef’s cookbook plagiarism lawsuit against JERRY SEINFELD’s wife - insisting there are no notable similarities between the two publications.
Chef Missy Chase Lapine sued Seinfeld’s wife Jessica in January (08), claiming Seinfeld’s bestselling cookbook Deceptively Delicious is "brazenly plagiarised" from her own tome, The Sneaky Chef.
Both books describe how to hide healthy ingredients in children’s food.
But U.S. District Judge Laura Taylor Swain ruled that apart from the healthy angle, consumers are not likely to confuse the two books.
Lapine’s slander suit against Seinfeld - for joking in a TV interview that people with three names were often assassins - is still due to be heard. Lapine’s legal team are expected to file the suit at a state court.
