MONKEYS PARTY IN THE DARK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:54 pm

The ARCTIC MONKEYS’ delight at their London comeback show was short-lived - the power failed during their afterparty.
The British rockers played a hotly-anticipated show at the British capital’s Brixton O2 Academy on Wednesday night (26Aug09), and later held a bash with celebrity guests including Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia.
But it turned into a shambles when the power cut out - forcing staff to serve food cold and use candles for light.
A source tells Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper, "The lads were on a high after their gig and wanted to celebrate. But a mass power cut thwarted their party plans. Organisers had to rush out for candles and serve the food cold. Chilled shepherd’s pie may not be to everyone’s liking but it went down a treat."

MONKEYS HAPPY WITH TURNER’S SIDE PROJECT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:54 pm

British rockers ARCTIC MONKEYS insist they were happy when frontman ALEX TURNER launched his side project, THE LAST SHADOW PUPPETS.
The singer created the group with The Rascals rocker Miles Kane and the pair achieved a U.K. number one album, The Age of the Understatement, last year (08).
Turner and Kane then decided to return to their prospective groups, and Kane has since left The Rascals to go solo.
And the other Arctic Monkeys rockers are adamant they did not mind Turner taking time out to write songs for another band.
Guitarist Jamie Cook says, "I felt like I was in a kinky open relationship. Which, strangely enough, I felt mostly okay about - I didn’t begrudge him his fun with someone else."

SPURLOCK INVESTIGATES ‘ANCESTRY’ OF SIMPSONS CHARACTER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:51 pm

Filmmaker MORGAN SPURLOCK is determined to solve a dispute over THE SIMPSONS character GROUNDSKEEPER WILLIE as two Scottish cities battle to claim the fictional janitor as their own.
Officials in Glasgow have posted a picture of Willie - voiced by American funnyman Dan Castellaneta - in their online hall of fame, citing a 1997 episode of the animated comedy, in which the character describes himself as "the ugliest man in Glasgow".
But he is also shown rooting for Aberdeen’s soccer team in a dream in a 2003 episode, prompting sporting chiefs in the Highlands city to claim him too.
Now the Super Size Me director has jetted to the U.K. to solve the puzzle, speaking to authorities in both cities in a bid to trace the roots of the grumpy school employee for a film.
An employee at Aberdeen Football Club tells the Daily Record, "He spoke to a few people. It’s great publicity because it’s going to be seen by a huge audience." The footage will be shown as part of Spurlock’s new Simpsons documentary marking the 20th anniversary of the long-running cartoon.

GOSSIP GIRL BOSSES: ‘DUFF DIVA REPORTS ARE FALSE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:48 pm

TV bosses have moved swiftly to deny reports actress HILARY DUFF has held up production on GOSSIP GIRL with a number of demands.
The 21 year old is currently in New York City filming episodes as a guest star on the hit TV teen drama, in which she plays a movie star who enrols in a university with Vanessa, played by Jessica Szohr.
Rumours swirled that Duff had infuriated the show’s cast after refusing to leave her trailer as the others waited to film near Manhattan’s Gramercy Park neighbourhood, causing a massive delay in shooting.
A source claims, "No one could believe they would actually hold up taping for her. Nobody in the cast behaves like that." But a representative for the U.S. programme tells the New York Post’s gossip column Page Six the rumour is "absolutely not true".

JACKSON INVESTIGATION ‘STALLED BY SMALL WORKFORCE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:45 am

The ongoing investigation into MICHAEL JACKSON’s death is taking longer than expected due to a lack of police working on the case, according to U.K. reports.
Los Angeles police are working alongside the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to try to discover whether the star’s death on June 25 (09) was a homicide due to the amount of prescription drugs he was given.
So far, the probe has concentrated on Jackson’s personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray, who, according to an affidavit that was unsealed on Monday (24Aug09), administered a cocktail of potent narcotics to Jackson on the day of his death to help him sleep.
Two pharmacies have been raided, and subpoenas served on Jackson’s dermatologist Dr. Arnold Klein to obtain the singer’s medical records.
But two main witnesses have reportedly not yet been interviewed - security personnel Alberto Alvarez, who called 911 when Jackson was found unconscious, and the Thriller star’s chief of staff, Michael Amir.
According to Britain’s The Sun newspaper, the LAPD is struggling with the workload involved - because only three detectives have been assigned to the case.
Carl Douglas, a lawyer who represents Alvarez and Amir, even claims he has arranged meetings for his clients with the LAPD on two occasions, with both interviews falling through.
He tells the publication, "We arranged two occasions for investigators to meet my clients.
"The first meeting was rescheduled. The second I had to call them to enquire about the detectives’ absence." Los Angeles Coroner is expected to announce more details of Jackson’s death on Friday (28Aug08).

BROWN ‘BROKE RULES OF PROBATION’ WITH NIGHTCLUB VISIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:42 am

CHRIS BROWN could live to regret his celebratory night out in Los Angeles hours after he was sentenced for beating up ex-girlfriend RIHANNA - he broke the rules of his probation as he was too young to be in a club.
The disgraced singer faced an L.A. Superior court judge on Tuesday (25Aug09) as he was given a five year probation order, as well as six months hard community labour after he was convicted of assaulting his former lover in February (09).
He was also ordered to stay away from Rihanna for the same period of time and to report for community duties within 72-hours of sentencing.
However, Brown shocked fans by showing little remorse over the vicious attack by heading for a night out on the town at West Hollywood hotspot Guys and Dolls.
The star even grabbed the mic during Michael Jackson’s hit Dirty Diana and told the crowd: "There was only one King of Pop. We love you, Michael." Now he is facing a possible investigation into his actions - as, at 20 years old, he is too young to enter nightclubs and bars in America, according to strict U.S. drinking age limits.
The venue he frequented had a Type 48 liquor licence, meaning it is only a bar or club and not a restaurant.
Los Angeles Probation Department spokeswoman Kari Webb tells E! News, "It (breaking probation) won’t be taken lightly. If you break the law, you’re in trouble." Despite Brown sticking to water throughout the evening, his entourage ordered 10 bottles of champagne, and he would have only been allowed to stay in the club if he was hired as a performer.

WILLIAMS FEARS FANS FEEL CHEATED - BECAUSE HE DIDN’T DIE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:42 am

ROBIN WILLIAMS feels sure some of his macabre fans feel cheated - because they didn’t get to boast about having a ticket for a show the funnyman was too dead to appear at.
The actor/comedian had to scrap his Weapons of Self-Destruction stand-up tour earlier this year (09) so he could undergo heart surgery, and he’s convinced some ticket holders are a little peeved he survived the operation.
The Good Will Hunting star is now rescheduling the dates he had to cancel but fears some comedy fans will begrudge his comeback.
He says, "I guess sometimes if you do have a ticket from someone who passed away, they keep it as a souvenir, like, ‘This is a ticket for the tour he didn’t make. That’s the one that he ain’t gonna be there for.’ What a lovely memento."

NEIGHBOURS CELEBRATE RONSON’S DEPARTURE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:42 am

DJ SAMANTHA RONSON isn’t expecting a farewell party when she leaves her Hollywood Hills home next month (Sep09) - local residents can’t wait until LINDSAY LOHAN’s on/off lover moves out of the neighbourhood.
The disc-spinner is packing up and moving out of her swanky property due to the constant paparazzi presence on her front doorstep.
Since Ronson began dating the Mean Girls actress last year (08), the pair has become tabloid favourites. They are followed by snappers whenever they step out of their homes.
Ronson decided to leave her neighbourhood as it doesn’t offer enough security from the "constant attention" she receives, according to RadarOnline.com.
And the star’s neighbours won’t be too sad to see the back of her - with one insisting residents can’t wait until the media circus moves out of the area.
A neighbour tells the website, "To be honest I’m glad because the situation has gotten out of hand with all the photographers because this used to be a quiet street.
"Both Samantha Ronson and Lindsay Lohan need to move to someplace more secluded with a lot of security.
"I will be relieved when she leaves and so will a lot of other residents living here too."

The So What singer has been touring Down Under for several months, and has sold out gigs across the country.
She was such a hit at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre - where she sold out 11 dates - bosses decided to make a lasting tribute to the star.

"The Pink Ladies symbolises that success, and pays tribute to the artist for what she has achieved in Brisbane.
"Pink is now etched into our rock and roll history and we won’t ever forget this extraordinary feat. Pink is our number one." And the outspoken rocker saw the funny side to the toilet humour - and urged her fans to "christen" her namesake.

FOX FELT SAFE SMOOCHING SEYFRIED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:36 am

MEGAN FOX felt right at home performing a same-sex smooch with her JENNIFER’S BODY co-star AMANDA SEYFRIED - because she feels "safer" kissing girls on camera.
Fox plays a sexy cheerleader-turned-man-eater in the dark comedy, which sees her share a passionate scene with Seyfried, who plays her geeky best friend.
And despite recently admitting the pair dreaded the media interest in their on-screen kiss - Fox admits she felt more at ease getting close to Seyfried than she did to her male co-stars in previous films.
She explains, "I feel much safer with girls, so I felt more comfortable kissing her in the movie than kissing any of the other people that I had to kiss." However, the sexy star is convinced the Mamma Mia! blonde wasn’t quite as into the kissing scenes as her.
She adds, "I think she (Seyfried) was extremely uncomfortable. I don’t think that - I know that. She was not comfortable and there was a lot of laughing - like, giggling fits that happened in between takes."
