Movie bosses are bringing DIRTY DANCING back to the big screen - a remake of the 1987 classic is in the pipeline.
The film - starred Patrick Swayze as a dance instructor - took a massive $213 million (£133 million) at the worldwide box office and propelled the actor to international superstardom.
A sequel, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, starring Diego Luna, was released in 2004 and a theatre production has been wowing audiences on Broadway and in London’s West End.
And now film executives are keen to cash in on the continuing popularity of the movie, with a new version of the original picture.
Bosses at Lionsgate productions are currently developing a script with Uptown Girls writer Julia Dahl, according to Production Weekly.

WOOD STILL COMMITTED TO SPIDER-MAN MUSICAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:54 pm

EVAN RACHEL WOOD has confirmed she is still planning to take the stage in the upcoming SPIDER-MAN musical - dismissing rumours she quit the production after it was stalled by financial problems.
Broadway bosses last week (12Aug09) blasted claims the superhero spectacular has been scrapped altogether, amid rumours several cast members had backed out of their contracts.
Wood was alleged to have pulled out of the project and urged her agents to win back a number of film roles she turned down to star in the live show.
But a representative for the actress insists she is "100 per cent committed - she didn’t pull out." And, according to the New York Daily News, the struggling musical has been given another boost after producers finally cast a relatively unknown actor as the superhero himself.
Newcomer Reeve Carney will be suiting up to belt out the production’s songs, composed by U2’s The Edge and Bono.
Scottish actor Alan Cumming will star as the villainous Green Goblin.

BABYSHAMBLES HALT NEW ALBUM OVER BOREDOM FEARS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:48 pm

PETE DOHERTY’s band BABYSHAMBLES have put their next album on hold over fears the public is sick of hearing rock music.
The troubled British star and his group were set to release their third record later this year (09) - but have decided to wait until 2010 to see if guitar-based independent music makes a chart comeback, according to drummer Adam Ficek.
He says, "The ‘Shambles won’t release until late next year, when the scene is more fruitful.
"At the moment there are many guitar bands struggling. People have got bored because there’s a generic sound.
"There was a lot of money going into indie music so more mediocre bands have managed to sustain a career out of it." And the musician blames a lack of rock ‘n’ roll role models in the industry at the moment for teens turning their backs on the genre.
He adds, "The kids don’t want to be like Arctic Monkeys because they’re not characters like (Oasis frontman) Liam Gallagher and (Blur star) Damon Albarn.
"A band similar to The Stone Roses or Oasis will emerge in the next three of four years. Some young with something to say, as no bands have anything to say right now. We haven’t had a working-class band for ages."

MOAKLER AND BARKER’S SUMMER CUSTODY DEAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:48 pm

TRAVIS BARKER and his ex-wife SHANNA MOAKLER are back in court as they organise custody plans for their children over the summer (09).
The on/off couple’s relationship has been turbulent since they ended their two-year marriage in 2006, with Barker accusing Moakler of "shipping" Atiana, her daughter from her relationship with boxer Oscar de la Hoya, away for the summer on his Twitter.com page earlier this month (Aug09).
He also accused her of allowing their two children to spend time with their her uncle, who he alleges to be a convicted child molester.
The pair has taken the dispute back to court, where the former beauty queen filed legal documents to allow their son Landon, five, and daughter Alabama, three, to accompany their drummer dad for a few dates on a roadshow with his band Blink-182.
In custody papers filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Moakler permitted Barker to look after the kids from 25 July to 22 August (09) - on the condition the rocker organised a vacation for Moakler and the kids in Rhode Island.
She also stipulated that Barker himself would have to take her and the children there on his tour bus, reports TMZ.com.
The legal documents also indicated the children weren’t allowed anywhere near a man named Richard Sinnott "at any time whatsoever".
It remains unclear who Sinnott is or the nature of his relationship with the family.

BBC HUNTS MOONWALKERS FOR NEW TV TALENT SHOW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:45 pm

The JACKSON clan is hoping to discover the next King of Pop by judging the moves of the THRILLER star’s biggest fans in a new U.K. TV talent contest.
The BBC are currently drawing up a new show which will search Britain for superfans who have dance moves to rival their idol Michael Jackson’s.
And the wannabe Jackos will have to prove themselves to some very important people - including members of the superstar’s family.
According to Britain’s The Sun newspaper, the U.K. broadcaster is trying to sign Jermaine or La Toya Jackson to act as a judge on the series - as the pair has already won over Brits with stints on U.K. Celebrity Big Brother.
A source tells the publication, "People are so passionate about Michael it makes sense to build a talent show devoted to him and his incredible performances.
"And given that his family played such a huge part in his life, it makes sense for one of them to a judge. Jermaine, Janet or La Toya would be brilliant." A BBC spokeswoman tells WENN, "We are currently in advanced discussions about commissioning a new entertainment show, which will seek to find Britain’s most talented dancer, who can move like the legendary Michael Jackson."

LIL WAYNE QUESTIONED AFTER SHOOTING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:45 pm

LIL WAYNE was questioned by authorities after a shot was fired in an altercation following his Arizona concert last week (12Aug09), according to reports.
The star finished his performance in Phoenix, Arizona last Wednesday (12Aug09) and took members of his entourage on two of his tour buses to a nearby apartment complex, reports TMZ.com.
Law enforcement insiders tell the website residents were angered and became "violent" after several women caused a commotion by getting on and off the star’s vehicles.
Stones and bottles were then hurled at the buses and at least one shot was reportedly fired in the chaos.
Local police then arrived at the scene, and a 15-year-old boy was said to have filed a police report alleging he had bruised ribs after one of the star’s bodyguards manhandled him.
The Lollipop hitmaker was later interviewed by police at a nearby hotel, telling them he had been on the bus when the attack began but his driver moved the vehicle from the scene almost immediately.
Lil Wayne’s current Young Money Presents America’s Most Wanted Music Festival roadshow has been plagued with problems - he was forced to cancel two shows in Canada this week (17Aug09) after falling ill.
And rising rapper Drake was injured last month (Jul09) while performing alongside Lil Wayne, collapsing in agony after his knee gave way while he danced.

PEARL JAM BREAK THE RULES IN BRITAIN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:45 pm

Rockers PEARL JAM infuriated bosses at a London concert venue after their Tuesday night (18Aug09) gig over-ran - with frontman EDDIE VEDDER staging a sit-down protest as organisers attempted to force the band offstage.
The Alive hitmakers began their gig at the British capital’s O2 Arena 15 minutes late and played right up until the venue’s official curfew at 11.00pm (local time).
But the rockers were having so much fun, they decided to keep going, much to the delight of the star-studded audience, which included actors Josh Brolin, Jonah Hill and Tim Robbins.
After concluding their third encore, singer Vedder told the crowd, "We usually finish after this song - but not tonight!" The band kept playing for another 20 minutes until organisers turned on the houselights, signalling the end of the show.
The rockers said their goodbyes but Vedder sat down cross-legged in the middle of the stage clutching his microphone until his bandmates grabbed their instruments and joined him for one more tune.
The group is also facing a fine from O2 Arena bosses after Vedder was spotted sparking up cigarettes on stage, flouting the U.K.’s smoking ban. The regulations ban smoke from all public places, including concert venues, and offenders can face penalties of up to $4,000 (£2,500).
The Rolling Stones previously caused controversy at the arena by lighting up during their last concerts there in 2007, but the legendary musicians were spared a fine by O2 bosses.

SURVIVOR STAR HATCH IN JAIL AGAIN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:42 pm

Reality TV star RICHARD HATCH is back behind bars - three months after he was sentenced to home confinement.
Hatch, the winner of Survivor: Borneo in 2000, was arrested on Tuesday (18Aug09) and hauled off to a Massachusetts county jail used to temporarily hold federal prisoners.
The reason for his imprisonment has yet to be confirmed by representatives of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office.
Hatch was indicted and sentenced to four years behind bars in 2005 for failing to pay tax on the $1 million (£666,600) prize he’d earned from the show and subsequent TV appearances.
He was allowed to live in his Rhode Island home under supervision following his release from a federal facility in Morgantown, West Virginia in May (09).
His home confinement is due to end on 7 October (09) but he requested early release for various reasons, alleging his lawyers were ineffective and previously asking to take part in a 10th anniversary edition of Survivor in Samoa in August (09).
And in an interview aired on U.S. TV on Tuesday (18Aug09), broadcast just hours before his arrest, he detailed the legal injustices he believed shaped the result of his tax evasion case, accusing both the judge and prosecutors of discriminating against him because of his sexuality.
He told the Today show, "I know without question that there are personal issues involved for the prosecutor. I don’t know why. The prosecutorial misconduct has been egregious."

STELLA MCCARTNEY PAYS TRIBUTE TO LATE MUM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:42 pm

Designer STELLA MCCARTNEY has paid homage to her late mother LINDA MCCARTNEY - hailing her as a fashion icon in her own right.
The style guru daughter of Sir Paul McCartney rarely speaks publicly about her mother, who managed to see her daughter’s first runway show just months after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1995. She lost her battle with the disease in 1998.
But Stella will always remember her mum as a style icon - because she rebelled against the fashion-set by donning wacky outfits.
She tells Harper’s Bazaar magazine, "I love the way my mother wore clothes. She used to wear odd, different-colour argyle socks but then she also wore beautiful tailored British suits and little tea dresses with platform shoes.
"That’s sort of how people dress now so she was very modern and ahead of her time in many ways. She really didn’t give a damn about what people thought and back then it was all about conforming. It really wasn’t the done thing to reflect your personality through your clothes." And McCartney insists her photographer mother wasn’t interested in acclaim or praise - despite her many achievements.
She adds, "She was also an amazing photographer. Much of her work launched Rolling Stone magazine and at the same time she was very modest. If she had met the Queen she would have been more interested in talking to the butler. That’s just the way she was."

ZELLWEGER IS ‘FILLING UP HER PERSONAL LIFE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:42 pm

Hollywood actress RENEE ZELLWEGER took time out of her busy work schedule over the summer to "fill up" her personal life - further fuelling rumours she has embarked on a romance with BRADLEY COOPER.
The first reports of a new relationship for the longtime single star were kickstarted when she was spotted enjoying an intimate dinner with The Hangover star in New York.
And internet gossips were sent into a spin when they were later photographed on a trip to Spain together, with one saucy shot showing Cooper affectionately resting a hand on Zellweger’s behind.
Now, the Bridget Jones actress has dropped another hint about her romantic status during an appearance on U.S. TV show Good Morning America on Tuesday (18Aug09).
The 40 year old told the hosts that she has spent the summer months repairing her personal life - replacing her work commitments with social activities.
She says, "I’ve absolutely been living my life for myself this summer. I started to take a look around at my personal life and fill it up a bit with things that didn’t have anything to do with being an actor and having a public persona." Cooper has previously been linked to his He’s Just Not That Into You co-star Jennifer Aniston, while Zellweger has previously been romanced by Jim Carrey and rocker Jack White, and was married briefly to country singer Kenny Chesney.

PATTINSON: ‘I’M STILL SINGLE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:51 am

ROBERT PATTINSON has denied reports he is secretly dating his TWILIGHT co-star KRISTEN STEWART, insisting he is still completely single.
The actor was photographed getting close to Stewart during a Kings of Leon concert in Vancouver, Canada on Saturday (15Aug09) during a break from pre-production on their third vampire film, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
But Pattinson remains adamant he is a bachelor - and he even wonders why he doesn’t have a girlfriend.
He says, "I don’t have a girlfriend. I don’t know why. You always think you’re going to get more girls after you’ve made a movie and it never happens. You sit there and you’re like ‘I’m a big movie star and I want to go out with some models’ but I don’t know why that doesn’t happen.
"It’s especially different in L.A. Most of the women there are actresses and by default that makes them a little bit nuts - not that that’s a bad thing. But I don’t really have a type. Whenever I get asked who my favourite celebrity crush is, I have no idea."

JACKSON ‘SELF-HARMED TO OBTAIN DRUGS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:51 am

MICHAEL JACKSON "self-harmed" before his tragic death in June (09) in a bid to obtain powerful prescription drugs, according to reports.
The Thriller hitmaker passed away on 25 June (09) after suffering a cardiac arrest, and rumours about his substance abuse have swirled in the wake of his death.
The King of Pop was said to have been so desperate to fuel his drug addiction, he banged his head and hurt himself in a bid to convince doctors to give him medication, including strong pain killer Demerol, an anaesthetic at the centre of his death investigation.
A source tells Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper, "LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) detectives have interviewed some 30-35 witnesses so far, and it has come to light that Michael was prone to self-harming. He’d bang his head against the wall, hit his fists and arms against furniture, anything to cause a cut or a bruise.
"He wanted to convince his doctors that he’d had an accident and was in a lot of pain - a legitimate reason to ask for painkillers. This came up as part of the investigation into Michael’s drug-taking. So far there’s no evidence to prove or disprove the claims." A family source allegedly tells the publication, "Michael self-harmed as an attention-seeking mechanism or to gain sympathy. He enjoyed being cared for. It was a huge cry for help."
