LOHAN TOO ‘JADED’ TO PLAY SEXUALLY CURIOUS TEEN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 10:15 pm

LINDSAY LOHAN has been snubbed for a new film role about a sexually curious teen - after producers ruled the troubled star is too "jaded" to play the part.
The actress has struggled to reclaim a top spot at the box-office since 2004’s Mean Girls, and her promising career has been marred by a string of drink driving charges and allegations of excess boozing and partying.
Just last week (begs10Aug09) Lohan denied reports her on/off lesbian lover Samantha Ronson staged an intervention to confront the star about her alleged drug abuse, brushing the reports off as "weird".
And writer Allison Burnett has now revealed she’s passed up the actress as a prospect in a movie adaptation of her novel Undiscovered Gyrl, about a teen blogging about her sexual coming-of-age - because of Lohan’s troubled past.
Burnett tells U.S. magazine OK!, "(Lohan) is a wonderful actress, but her fame and baggage would only work against her."

LAW HOPES TO TURN HOLMES INTO A FRANCHISE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 10:15 pm

British actor JUDE LAW is praying his new SHERLOCK HOLMES film is a success - because he’d love to see the classic tale turn into a movie franchise.
The Alfie star takes on the role of Dr. Watson alongside Robert Downey Jr. as the legendary detective in Guy Ritchie’s new epic.
Law admits he relished the chance to bring Arthur Conan Doyle’s original stories to the big screen and hopes the public enjoy the new movie, because there is plenty more material for sequels.
He tells Empire magazine, "No (it will not be a one-off). The more you work on the substance of a film, the more you go back to the source material and the more you realise there is to tell. There are fantastic stories and even better characters. We would love that the audience falls in love with it (the movie) as much as we have, as then we can (make) a whole bunch more." While Downey Jr. reveals he too is keen to film a follow-up, adding, "We definitely agreed to renegotiate for a part two. We feel really strongly about that. We might shoot the next one abroad."

SIMMONS TO HOWL ON FILM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 10:15 pm

GENE SIMMONS is fulfilling a childhood dream, by providing the voice for the WOLF MAN in SIR ANTHONY HOPKINS and BENICIO DEL TORO’s new movie.
Simmons was asked by The Wolf Man director Joe Johnston to record the creature’s "howling voice" for the movie, scheduled for release next year (10).
The invitation was a dream come true for the KISS rocker and film fanatic.
Simmons explains, "The original Wolfman starred Lon Chaney Jr., son of the legendary Lon Chaney Sr. Chaney Sr. was called Man Of 1,000 Faces, and for me was a pivotal figure in my childhood. So much so, that I wrote a song called Man of 1,000 Faces on my 1978 solo album, and my production company was also called Man of 1,000 Faces… in homage to Chaney." The rocker’s trademark tones are currently in demand in Tinseltown - he’s already landed another voice-over job. The bassist adds, "I was asked to do the voice of the Dragon Spirit in M. Night Shyamalan’s forthcoming Airbender movie. This may or may not come to fruition. We’ll see.”

BUCKLEY RECORD SET FOR POSTHUMOUS RELEASE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 10:12 pm

Late folk icon TIM BUCKLEY is set to release a new solo album from beyond the grave - a recording of one of his first ever live performances is scheduled to hit shelves this summer (09).
Buckley’s performance for a small audience of 35 fans at New York City’s the Folklore Center - a club which hosted other famous acts in the 1960s including Bob Dylan - was recorded by folk impresario Izzy Young.
The resulting album, Live at the Folklore Center, NYC - March 6, 1967, has been remastered by Grammy-winning engineers Steve Rosenthal, Warren Russell-Smith and Jamie Howarth for release later this month (25Aug09).
And the material, including six new original compositions is the earliest recorded material of any official Buckley live album to date.
Young tells Billboard.com, "I didn’t hear the tape for most of the time I’ve been in Sweden - at least 30 years. When I played it for some close pals six months or so ago again, I just couldn’t believe it, all that fresh energy, fresh thought." Buckley died in 1975 after suffering a drug overdose, aged 28.

BLACK EYED PEAS SET U.S. RECORD FOR MOST WEEKS AT NUMBER ONE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 10:12 pm

The BLACK EYED PEAS have made U.S. pop chart history by scoring the most consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 countdown.
The hip-hop group have topped the singles chart for 20 consecutive weeks - surpassing Usher’s previous record of 19.
Boom Boom Pow - their first number one single - and the song that dislodged it, I Gotta Feeling, have been at the top of the charts for 12 and eight weeks, respectively.
Frontman will.i.am is celebrating getting one over the band’s critics.
He says, "There’s a part of me that wants to be cocky, but then I can’t be cocky. There’s a part of me that wants to call out all of my other peers and competitors. I knew that Boom Boom Pow would be big in the clubs." The band isn’t just enjoying success in just their native U.S. - on Monday (17Aug09), the foursome reclaimed their spot at the top of the U.K. singles chart with I Gotta Feeling.
Considering the achievement, will.i.am adds, "How am I supposed to take this and soak this in? If these people like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Michael Jackson have these number ones, but yet we just broke a record, how am I supposed to take that because we came from the under, under, underground."

KRUGER’S AUSTRALIAN POLICE SCARE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:42 pm

Actress DIANE KRUGER dodged arrest during a recent road trip across Australia with boyfriend JOSHUA JACKSON - after police caught the pair sleeping in their car.
The German star and her actor boyfriend of three years were on holiday Down Under when they found themselves stranded without a place to stay in between destinations.
When the couple parked their car and tucked in for the night, Kruger was stunned to wake up to cops tapping on her window.
Kruger explains, "I’d never been (to Australia). We didn’t make reservations anywhere, we just got in a car and started driving. And then of course, every once in a while we couldn’t find a hotel, so we’d sleep in the car - which was not fun for me, but fun for him. It’s not (legal). The police knocked on the car windows at five in the morning and he didn’t wake up. I had to talk to the police officer and he was very nice and he let me go."

COWELL OFFERS HIS SUPPORT TO ABDUL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:42 pm

Music mogul SIMON COWELL has reached out to former AMERICAN IDOL judge PAULA ABDUL following her departure from the hit show - dismissing rumours of a rift between the pair.
The singer quit her role on the judging panel earlier this month (Aug09) following a reported dispute with the show’s bosses over her multi-million dollar pay deal.
Cowell has been forced to bring in a string of celebrity guests judges - including Victoria Beckham, Katy Perry and Mary J. Blige - to fill Abdul’s place as he searches for a permanent replacement.
But the Brit is adamant he’s not bitter about Abdul’s decision to quit - and insists he will always be a friend to the star.
He tells Fox news, “She’s taken the decision in her life now, which you have to respect her for making the decision. I didn’t want to get involved in what was going on because it wasn’t really any of my business but I spoke to her a lot through the whole process.
"I always thought she was the heart of the show. I’m not the heart, I’m not even the brain actually. But she was the heart, so you’ve taken that away so it’s a different show. I’m sad, I am. I’ll probably see her next week. I’m going to listen to what she wants to do next. I will support her in anything she wants to do next. I think she is TV gold, genuinely.”

SOMMERS IGNORED MILLER’S BAD PRESS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:39 pm

Director STEPHEN SOMMERS refused to let negative stories about SIENNA MILLER put him off hiring her for G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA - because there are always going to be "internet haters" attacking pretty actresses.
The blonde Brit came under attack from the media and online bloggers following her fling with married U.S. actor Balthazar Getty last year (08) - with public opinion of the star falling so low vandals even spray-painted the word ’slut’ outside her London home.
But despite a constant tabloid frenzy surrounding the star’s every move, moviemaker Sommers wouldn’t allow Miller’s media portrayal to prevent him from working with her.
And he’s glad he followed his instincts - because he found her to be one of the most "talented" actresses he had worked with.
He tells GQ magazine, "I can’t be bothered by all that craziness (media). I mean, people say bad things about me as well, and I know I’m a nice person. You just can’t get caught up in all that.
"She’s beautiful, she’s talented and she’s a really sweet person. Yes, she gets hammered but internet haters love to hate. That’s their deal. Sienna is a doll; completely professional, no diva behaviour, a terrific actress."

CAREY’S GRAMMY SNUB

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:39 pm

MARIAH CAREY won’t be accepting a Grammy at next year’s (10) award ceremony - the singer has taken herself out of the running for nominations.
Carey will release her latest album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel on 29 September (09), missing the Grammy cut off date by just one day.
The 39-year-old chart-topper has only won five awards out of 21 nominations since 1991, and has reportedly snubbed organisers to avoid another disappointment.
A music industry insider tells the New York Daily News, "Mariah’s been shafted (let down) so many times before that it’s like a big ‘Kiss my butt’ to the Grammy folks. She doesn’t need the awards, because her career is already so successful." The 52nd Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled to air from the Los Angeles Staples Center on 31 January (10).

PERRY’S PROVOCATIVE PLASTER-CAST PULLS IN $3,000

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:36 pm

KATY PERRY’s womanly charms have helped raise £3,000 (£2,000) for a cancer charity - a generous fan has snapped up a plaster cast of the singer’s ample breasts.
The I Kissed A Girl star was covered in a plaster mould last year (08) while MTV cameras recorded the event for breast cancer research group Keep-A-Breast.org.
And the curvy beauty had so much bust - organisers had to order extra plaster.
She says, "They had to get extra plaster to cast them because they are so big!" But despite the added cost, Perry’s plaster-cast has proved lucrative - the organisation has received a $3,000 (£2,000) donation from a fan in exchange for the mould.

OASIS STAR GALLAGHER APPROVES BROTHER’S SOLO PLANS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:36 pm

OASIS frontman LIAM GALLAGHER has given his brother and bandmate NOEL his permission to start work on a solo album.
Noel Gallagher recently admitted he has written "lots of songs" that wouldn’t be suitable for the band, but insisted he currently has no plans to start a solo project.
But his brother may have paved the way for an album, after he gave his sibling the green light to work on his own material.
Liam tells NME.com, "Who knows, man, maybe he needs to go and do his solo record… f**king hell, I don’t know, I really don’t know.
"If it (recording a solo album) makes him happy, yeah, if it makes him happy. It would sound very civilised I reckon… (that’s) a f**king awful thing - but maybe it’s a good thing for him."

U.K. MOVIE CENSORS REFUSE TO RATE ‘SADISTIC’ HORROR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:36 pm

British movie censors have refused to allow a shocking new Japanese horror movie into U.K. cinemas - labelling the film too "brutal and sadistic" for even the highest 18 certificate.
Disturbing torture picture Murder Set Pieces and Terrorists, Killers And Other Wackos was admitted to bosses at the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) in a bid to land an official rating to allow its release in the country.
The film includes graphic scenes of torture, as well as real footage of execution and sadism.
And censor officials were so sickened, they have refused to pass it - meaning they won’t allow the film to be shown in U.K. cinemas until it is heavily edited to meet the BBFC’s standards of decency.
It is a rare move for the Board, who have only refused to give an 18 rating to three films in the last four years. An 18 rated movie means no cinemagoers under that age in Britain is legally allowed to watch the film.
BBFC director David Cooke has dismissed the film as "little more than an unrelenting and escalating scenario of humiliation, brutality and sadism".

KARDASHIAN’S ABORTION BREAKDOWN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

Reality TV star KOURTNEY KARDASHIAN considered aborting her unplanned pregnancy before she reconciled with ex-fiance SCOTT DISICK.
The 30-year-old socialite revealed her shock news last Wednesday (12Aug09) and followed it up by confirming she had reunited with her 26-year-old former partner after learning she was carrying his child.
Kardashian - who spilt from Disick in November (09) after two years of dating - recently confessed she had conceived with her former beau after forgetting to take a contraceptive pill, and has blamed the pregnancy on her "stupidity" and bad memory.
However, when the star found out she was expecting she was faced with a life-changing decision - and considered booking herself in for a termination.
She tells People.com, "I definitely thought about it long and hard, about if I wanted to keep the baby or not, and I wasn’t thinking about adoption. I do think every woman should have the right to do what they want, but I don’t think it’s talked through enough. I can’t even tell you how many people just say, ‘Oh, get an abortion.’ Like it’s not a big deal.
"I looked online, and I was sitting on bed hysterically crying, reading these stories of people who felt so guilty from having an abortion. I was reading these things of how many people are traumatised by it afterwards. I was just sitting there crying, thinking, ‘I can’t do that." However, Kardashian is now confident she’s made the right decision to have the child, and the couple is looking forward to starting a family.
She adds, "For me, all the reasons why I wouldn’t keep the baby were so selfish: It wasn’t like I was raped, it’s not like I’m 16. I’m 30 years old, I make my own money, I support myself, I can afford to have a baby. And I am with someone who I love, and have been with for a long time… My doctor told me there is nothing you will ever regret about having the baby, but he was like, ‘You may regret not having the baby.’ And I was like: That is so true. And it just hit me. I got so excited, and when I told Scott he was so excited. But I think if I had said I’m not going to keep it, I really think he would have pushed me into keeping it."
