Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:03 am

Aussie rockers ROSE TATTOO have scrapped an upcoming U.S. tour to allow guitarist ROBIN RILEY to recover from surgery.

JOJO SUES RECORD LABEL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:00 am

Singer JOJO is suing her record label in a bid to be released from her record contract.
The 18-year-old pop star is desperate to leave Da Family Entertainment, the company she signed a deal with at just 12, so that she can put out new music as the firm struggles to overcome ongoing financial woes.
But the Leave (Get Out) hitmaker maintains she has no resentment towards the firm’s bosses, insisting the lawsuit was filed as a last resort in her bid to put out her next album.
She writes on her official blog, "For the past year and a half I’ve been diligently co-operating with my record label(s) so I can have the opportunity to continue with my career and do what I love the most - create music and sing. I’ve been a patient team player and have done everything that was asked and/or expected of me.
"As you may already know, my record company has been going through a major transition and unfortunately all of the artists on the label have been forced to sit on the sidelines and wait. I exhausted every option and exercised much patience before reaching my final decision to file a formal complaint with the court.
"My situation is a bit atypical. It is not a case where the artist loves the material they are making, is set in his or her ways, will not take direction or advice, and will not co-operate with the label. This is NOT the case at all.
"I’ve been blessed to receive great feedback from the record company in response to the music I’ve been delivering. But unfortunately I have become a victim of industry politics that honestly have nothing to do with me personally or professionally. Because of this, I am willing to fight for what I love and ultimately for the chance to regain control of my livelihood and my life." JoJo, real name Joanne Levesque, is seeking $500,000 (£334,000) in damages from the company.

Screen legend LAUREN BACALL has hit out at the current state of Hollywood, insisting modern movie stars are only interested in fame.
The How To Marry A Millionaire actress, who is considered part of Hollywood’s golden age, blames tabloid culture for breeding an obsession with celebrities’ lives rather than their careers.
And the 84 year old has no patience for reporters who only take an interest in the designer labels worn by the stars.
She says, "I love my profession. I have tremendous respect for it. What I don’t have respect for is the red carpet and the celebrity scene. It’s become a zoo. It’s so stupid. They ask you stupid questions: ‘What are you wearing?’ Oh, Christ almighty!"

DICAPRIO’S SHUTTER ISLAND POSTPONED UNTIL 2010

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:00 pm

LEONARDO DiCAPRIO’s new movie SHUTTER ISLAND has fallen victim to the ongoing financial crisis - its release has been pushed back until next year (10).
DiCaprio teamed up with director Martin Scorsese for the thriller, in which he plays an escaped prisoner, and was preparing to promote the film when it hit cinemas in October (09).
But bosses at movie studio Paramount Pictures have had to re-shuffle their schedule - and as a result, fans will have to wait until February next year (10) to watch the gothic movie.
Paramount Pictures chairman and CEO Brad Grey says, "Our 2009 slate was green-lit in a very different economic climate and as a result we must remain flexible and willing to recalibrate and adapt to a changing environment.
"Leonardo DiCaprio is among the most talented actors working today, and Martin Scorsese is not just one of the world’s most significant filmmakers, but also a personal friend. Following a highly successful 2009, we have every confidence that Shutter Island is a great anchor to lead off our 2010 slate and the shift in date is the best decision for the film (and) the studio." Paramount chiefs have already paid huge sums to market their summer hits Star Trek, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.

JETT SUES FORMER RUNAWAYS BASSIST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:57 pm

RUNAWAYS guitarist JOAN JETT has filed a lawsuit against former band member JACKIE FOX, accusing her of meddling in the production of a film biopic of the band.
The movie, based on the story of the 1970s American all-girl rock group, is currently in production and stars Twilight beauty Kristen Stewart.
According to TMZ.com, Jett claims Fox tried to halt filming until she has seen and approved a script.
Jett insists there is no character based on Fox in the movie, and alleges the former bass player "threatened" Jett’s business partners, claiming she has the right to be paid for the use of the Runaways name.
The band was formed in 1975 by Jett and drummer Sandy West.
Fox left during a 1977 tour of Japan, just before the rockers were due to appear at the Tokyo Music Festival, and was later replaced with Vicki Blue.
In the suit, Jett insists Fox has no right to the band name or any cash made from it, and is seeking damages.

OASIS AXE FESTIVAL SET

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:57 pm

Rockers OASIS were forced to pull out of a prestigious gig at a British music festival on Sunday (23Aug09) after frontman LIAM GALLAGHER lost his voice.
The Wonderwall hitmakers were due to close the V Festival in Chelmsford, England with a headlining set, their last performance in the U.K. this year (09).
But singer Liam was rendered voiceless after pushing himself to the limit at the Staffordshire leg of the outdoor event on Saturday (22Aug09), forcing the band to axe their slot just hours before taking the stage.
British rockers Snow Patrol will close the event instead.
A festival source tells WENN, "Liam gave it his all during their set on Saturday night but unfortunately it’s taken its toll on his voice. The band really wanted to give everyone a great send-off by closing the festival on Sunday and they’re very disappointed." A spokesman for the event says, "V Festival organisers regret to share the news with fans that unfortunately tonight’s headlining performance will not go ahead as planned. Unfortunately frontman Liam Gallagher is unwell with viral laryngitis and has been advised by doctors not to perform at tonight’s event.
"Organisers are pleased to be able to announce that Snow Patrol will be filling the headline slot." Festival director Bob Angus adds, "Fans will naturally be disappointed but of course the artist’s health must come first." And a spokesperson for Oasis says, "After a year of being on the road this is the first performance to be lost to a band member’s illness, so naturally we are all completely gutted (disappointed). Liam is resting up and should be fine to resume the tour next Friday in Paris."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:54 pm

DAKOTA FANNING is tipped to star in a sequel to THE WIZARD OF OZ, according to reports.
The 15 year old star of Charlotte’s Web and War of the Worlds is set to take the lead in a follow-up to the classic 1939 movie that shot Judy Garland to fame.

SECOND PHARMACY RAIDED IN JACKSON PROBE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:45 pm

Authorities investigating MICHAEL JACKSON’s death have raided a Beverly Hills pharmacy located in the same building as the offices of his dermatologist DR. ARNOLD KLEIN.
Officers from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) served a warrant to search the Mickey Fine Pharmacy & Grill on Friday (21Aug09) to investigate if prescription pills were improperly dispensed, according to a spokesperson.
The search of the premises lasted five hours before agents left with one box of medical records.
Bosses of the Mickey Fine Pharmacy & Grill sued Jackson in 2007 over claims he owed $100,000 for prescription drugs from the previous two years. The suit was quickly resolved.
The pharmacy is situated in the same building as Jackson’s longtime dermatologist Dr. Arnold Klein’s offices. Klein is also under investigation by authorities.
It is the second raid on a pharmacy as part of the ongoing investigation into Jackson’s death - officers swooped on Applied Pharmacy Services in Las Vegas last week (11Aug09) in search of documents relating to drug prescriptions written by Jackson’s personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray.
