The director behind METALLICA’s gripping movie SOME KIND OF MONSTER has teamed up with STING’s wife TRUDIE STYLER to shoot a new documentary about the destruction of the rainforest.
The film, Crude, chronicles an eye-opening trip Joe Berlinger and Styler took to Ecuador, and the activist actress/producer admits some of the sights she witnessed will haunt her forever.
She says, "I saw the most appalling human rights violations I’ve ever witnessed.
"I’ve seen some pretty grim sights, but nothing could prepare me for the sight of indigenous people with no access to clean water who have been systematically poisoned."

LEONARDO DiCAPRIO is set to become the latest celebrity to get seriously skinny for a film role.
The movie hunk faces a weighty battle to lose a pile of pounds (kilograms) for his new movie Inception, which has been written by The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan.
A set insider tells RadarOnline.com, "There’s an action scene coming up at the end of the year in which he needs to appear emaciated, so the pressure is on.
"Leo isn’t the kind of guy who can just lose a radical amount of weight… He’s following a strict diet and is embarking on a rigorous workout regime.
"Leo’s a pretty determined kind of guy, when he sets his mind to things he always achieves them. Though this is going to be hard for him, you can guarantee he’ll succeed."

Country rocker ZAC BROWN has become the latest celebrity to get into the relish business - the CHICKEN FRIED hitmaker is about to launch his new Love Sauce line.
The Zac Brown Band leader, a former chef, has been developing a new meat sauce line to help fans cook up a treat.
He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "It’s going to be on sale soon. You can put it on anything. I’ve spent hours perfecting it.
"I like to marinate pork or chicken in the sauce, and char that meat on a hot grill, then pour that sauce back on it… People will be impressed." Brown’s new relish will compete for space in the shopping trolleys of America alongside sauce lines from Aerosmith star Joe Perry, stoner icon Cheech Marin and rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd and Kiss.

Rocker QUINN LUKAS is to quit cult band ICARUS WITCH so he can study to become a funeral director.
The guitarist will play his final show for the Pennsylvania-based heavy metal act on 17 September (09), according to Blabbermouth.net.
A band statement reads, "When Quinn joined the band in 2006, he put his mortuary science schooling on hold… Now Quinn’s going back to school to become a funeral director, and Icarus Witch will enter the next chapter in our twisted tale as we prepare to release our fourth CD in time for a full U.S. tour this winter."

IRON MAIDEN star ADRIAN SMITH has revealed he used to take a bucket of maggots and worms on tour with him, so he could go fishing at every opportunity.
The heavy rocker, who is Britain’s current chub-fishing champion, tells U.K. magazine Angler’s Mail he was so obsessed by his hobby he’d look out for rivers, canals and lakes on tour stops.
He says, "I get to fish a lot of wild and wonderful places on tour. We used to keep worms in containers under the tour bus and in summer they would get a bit savoury.
"I also remember a maggot scare in a very plush hotel in Amsterdam when I was fishing in the canal there. They’re certainly not on the room service menu."

Guitarist ZAKK WYLDE has become the latest rocker to scrap dates because of ill health - he has been diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs.
The longtime Ozzy Osbourne sideman was hospitalised after a concert in Montana on 19 August (09) and now he has ditched his remaining Black Label Society dates after taking a turn for the worse.
According to Blabbermouth.net, Wylde was admitted to a Eugene, Oregon hospital on Tuesday afternoon (25Aug09).
The singer/guitarist joins Steven Tyler, Slipknot’s Joey Jordison, Rod Stewart, Tommy Lee and Liam Gallagher on rock’s summer (09) sick list.
Aerosmith’s Tyler is nursing a broken collarbone after falling from the stage at a South Dakota show, Jordison is in hospital for a "severe medical emergency", Lee has been forced to sit out of Motley Crue’s tour after burning his left hand and Stewart and Gallagher have both scrapped recent gigs due to throat problems.

AEROSMITH frontman STEVEN TYLER has dismissed reports the band are on the verge of splitting following a year of cancelled tour dates, injuries and accidents.
Internet reports have suggested there’s dissent within the band amid sourced stories Tyler was drunk when he slipped and fell from a stage during a show in South Dakota earlier this month (Aug09).
The singer broke his collarbone in the accident and Aerosmith were forced to scrap the remainder of their summer tour.
Sources told the BostonHerald.com last week that Tyler’s unhappy bandmates were convinced the sober singer had been drinking before the concert - and they were refusing to work with him again until he got sober again.
But Tyler insists the reports are ridiculous.
He tells RollingStone.com, "Someone is leaking stuff, pretending to know." Tyler states he spoke to his bandmates earlier this week and "s**t’s good," adding there have been plenty of times the band almost split - but this isn’t one of them.
He adds, "Has the band done things to me where I’ve wanted to quit? Positively. But I’ve stuck in there for the sake of a few sounds we got. I respect the power this band has in and of itself regardless of who says what.
"We’re just one for all, all for one. It’s probably why we’ve never quit. No one’s got enough money!" But the singer accepts his decision to sign with a new management company ahead of a planned solo project may have upset his longtime bandmates: "I think there’s a little animosity that I went with another management agency… (but) I’m certainly not in outs with the guys." Aerosmith have been hit by a string of bad luck in the last 12 months - Tyler previously cancelled a series of gigs after he suffered a leg injury, while bandmate Bradley Whitford was forced to step down from touring duties after undergoing surgery for a burst blood vessel. The group also pulled out of a planned tour in 2008 and dates earlier this year (09) to allow guitarist Joe Perry to recover from knee surgery.

Movie star BILL MURRAY’s son has been appointed graduate assistant coach for University of Arizona’s basketball team.
Luke Murray was an assistant coach at Post University of Connecticut last season, but now he’s stepped into the big college leagues by becoming part of the support staff at the Wildcats.
Head coach Sean Miller tells AZStarnet.com, "Luke is a young coach who’s always worked really, really hard." Murray says, "(My father) has been a supporter. He’s excited about the prospect of my career."

Mexican star DIEGO LUNA is stepping behind the camera to make his directorial debut with a dramatic new movie.
The Y Tu Mama Tambien actor will take charge of Abel, which is being produced by John Malkovich’s compay Mr. Mudd.
The film will unravel a family drama from the perspective of a young child, and will star Luna’s Just Walking co-star Jose Maria Yazpik.
Malkovich and his partners have lined up almost $3 million (GBP2 million) in funding from private investors and the Mexican state of Aguascalientes, where the movie will be shot.

The SCOOBY DOO film franchise is set for a revamp with a prequel to the 2002 film starring Hollywood couple SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR and FREDDIE PRINZE JR. underway.
Scooby Doo: The Mystery Begins, which features a cast of unknowns, will be released straight to DVD and there are already plans to shoot a follow-up.
Robbie Amell, who plays Fred in the new film, tells MovieHole.net, "There’s a second script… In the first film, we solve our first mystery - but, by the end of the mystery, we’ve destroyed a lot of stuff. The next one would be set at a lake resort, a summer camp kind-of setting, where we’re forced to work to pay off the damage we made in the first film." Frank Welker, a member of the original ’Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!’ voice cast, provides the voice of Scooby-Doo in the new movie.

Funnyman BILL COSBY’s TV wife PHYLICIA RASHAD is celebrating after losing 35 pounds (15.8 kilograms) in just eight months.

SALMA HAYEK, boxer/singer OSCAR DE LA HOYA and late star RICARDO MONTALBAN are to be honoured at the upcoming ALMA Awards, which celebrate Latin culture.
Frida star Hayek will be presented with the Anthony Quinn Award for Industry Excellence, while De La Hoya will receive the Special Achievement in Sports Television honour at the event next month (Sep09).

TRAVIS BARKER has spoken out about his confrontation with cops outside the home of his ex-wife SHANNA MOAKLER, accusing the former beauty queen of giving a child molester access to their kids.
The Blink-182 drummer clashed with officers outside Moakler’s Rhode Island home on Monday (24Aug09), in what was believed to be a fight over a nanny for the former couple’s two children.
But Barker has taken to the Internet to explain his actions, claiming he exploded with rage when he discovered Moakler’s uncle - a man he claims is a child molester - was at her house at the same time as their kids.
In a post of his Twitter.com page, he writes, "Would u (sic) leave your kids at a house where a child molesters (sic) car was present? Me neither." Moakler has denied she has a child molester uncle.
