BUTLER BITES BACK OVER DOG FIGHT ALLEGATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:36 pm

Scottish actor GERARD BUTLER has hit back after a woman accused him of lashing out following a vicious fight between the pair’s dogs.
Butler’s unleashed pet Lolita bumped noses with Maria Vareckas’ greyhound when the pair were out walking their dogs in New York on Monday afternoon (24Aug09), sending the animals into attack mode.
Vareckas has accused the actor of "verbal abuse", insisting Butler flew into a rage and slammed her dog’s head against a nearby fence.
Vareckas tells the New York Post, "(He was) shouting, ‘That dog should be put down!’ I said, ‘Your dog should be put on a leash.’ He kept on going and going, ranting and raving… He was being verbally abusive. (He) walks back, ranting and raving still and pointing, saying, ‘You know what? You know what? This dog should be put down!’ And he smacked the dog in the head. The dog’s head went into the fence. I was shaking. The dog yelped. I said, ‘Keep your hands off my dog! Why did you hit my dog?’ He didn’t say a word." However, Butler has denied the allegation, insisting he spent four hours at a Manhattan animal hospital while vets tended to Lolita’s wounds.
A spokesperson for the actor says, "What happened was, Gerry was walking his dog, Lolita, who is this little, small pug, a teeny thing. You can hold her in one arm, she’s that small. Then, suddenly, this greyhound, this huge, menacing dog, bites Lolita. She (Maria Varecka) and Gerry then have words… the dog again goes over to Lolita and takes another bite. They (the greyhound’s owners) don’t have it trained. They don’t know what they’re doing with their dog. People are so mean. They’re just trying to milk this." According to New York Police Department officials, no citations were issued in the incident and a complaint has not been filed against the actor.

COOGAN NEARLY BLINDED IN ONSET ACCIDENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:36 pm

British comedian STEVE COOGAN is grateful to have retained his vision after shooting NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: BATTLE OF THE SMITHSONIAN - because an onset accident nearly cost him his sight.
The Around The World in 80 Days funnyman, who played a toy soldier in the comedy, was hit in the eye by a giant plastic prop during an action sequence - causing momentary blindness.
The star was so badly hurt that film bosses had to use heavy make-up to cover the bruising for the remainder of the shoot.
Coogan says, "Honestly, on that film, I really thought I might go blind. During filming one day, I was running along - I play a toy soldier - scampering past these giant blades of plastic grass. But, being really old, I got out of breath, so I stopped. And as I bent over to catch my breath, one of these blades of grass went right in my eye.
"It was horrific - it pushed my eyelid over the top of my eyeball and down over the other side. I bruised my ruddy eyeball - actually, I nearly blinded myself. I stopped and put my hand over my eye - I thought I’d have blood gushing out - I couldn’t see anything. My head went numb. I had a black eye for the whole of the rest of the film. They had to cover it up with make-up every day."

SCHWARZENEGGER AND OBAMA PAY TRIBUTE TO KENNEDY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:00 pm

Action man-turned-California Governor ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER has paid an emotional tribute to U.S. Senator EDWARD KENNEDY, who died on Tuesday (25Aug09).
The Democrat, the last of the late John F. Kennedy’s brothers, passed away aged 77 following a long battle with brain cancer.
Schwarzenegger, who is married to Kennedy’s niece Maria, was devastated to hear the news - branding Kennedy "the rock" of the family whose "legacy will live on".
A statement from the star reads, "Maria and I are immensely saddened by the passing of Uncle Teddy. He was known to the world as the Lion of the Senate, a champion of social justice, and a political icon.
"Most importantly, he was the rock of our family: a loving husband, father, brother and uncle. He was a man of great faith and character. Teddy inspired our country through his dedication to health care reform, his commitment to social justice, and his devotion to a life of public service.
"I have personally benefited and grown from his experience and advice, and I know countless others have as well. Teddy taught us all that public service isn’t a hobby or even an occupation, but a way of life and his legacy will live on." U.S. President Barack Obama is also coming to terms with Kennedy’s passing, insisting he and his wife Michelle were "heartbroken" to hear the sad news and has sent his condolences to his extended family.
Obama has credited his fellow Democrat with helping him win his race for Presidency earlier this year (Jan09) - and insists America has "lost a great leader".
He says, "Michelle and I were heartbroken to learn this morning of the death of our dear friend, Senator Ted Kennedy… I cherished his confidence and momentous support in my race for the Presidency. And even as he waged a valiant struggle with a mortal illness, I’ve profited as President from his encouragement and wisdom.
"An important chapter in our history has come to an end. Our country has lost a great leader, who picked up the torch of his fallen brothers and became the greatest United States Senator of our time. The Kennedy family has lost their patriarch, a tower of strength and support through good times and bad.
"Our hearts and prayers go out to them today - to his wonderful wife, Vicki, his children Ted Jr., Patrick and Kara, his grandchildren and his extended family."

BROWN DESERVES JAIL, SAY CAMPAIGNERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:57 pm

Women’s rights campaigners in the U.S. have blasted the sentence handed to CHRIS BROWN for his attack on RIHANNA, insisting the R&B star should have been jailed.
Brown was given six months hard community labour, five years probation, and ordered to stay away from the Umbrella hitmaker after pleading guilty to felony assault.
He threatened to kill the singer and repeatedly punched, bit, and slapped her during the horrifying attack in his car after a pre-Grammy Awards party in Los Angeles in February (09).
Brown admitted the assault in June (09) and was sentenced at an L.A. court on Tuesday (25Aug09) after striking a deal with prosecutors.
But campaigners have criticised his punishment, insisting it sends the wrong message to perpetrators of domestic abuse.
U.S. Women’s Institute chief Roslyn Muraskin says, "I think it is terrible. Here is a guy that beat up his girlfriend - he deserves to see some prison time."

WATTS’ HORROR AT SCHREIBER’S CROSS-DRESSING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:57 pm

NAOMI WATTS was "horrified" when she first saw her partner LIEV SCHREIBER dressed as a woman for his upcoming movie TAKING WOODSTOCK.
The Scream star had to shave his body hair and wear ladies clothing to play an ex-Marine transvestite in the upcoming comedy.
Schreiber’s longterm girlfriend, and mother of his two children, was in shock when she saw his transformation.
He says, "She was horrified! It flipped her out. She was in shock for 30 seconds. Then she started to crack jokes." And the actor also struggled to accept his new image: "It was exhilaratingly humiliating. But I completely became giddy in a strange way the moment I put on the dress. Vanity quickly set in, and I thought to myself, ‘I wish my belly was flatter’. Let’s face it, I don’t look great in a dress, but it’s nice to hear I have nice legs.
"The shoes are awful. But for a 6-foot 3-inch (tall) man, to walk around in stilettos is nearly impossible. But women have no idea what it’s like for a grown hairy man to remove all of his hair from his body. Now that hurts!"

BACALL BLASTS TWILIGHT VAMPIRES

Screen legend LAUREN BACALL is urging vampire fans to check out 1920s horror movies - because the TWILIGHT blood-suckers pale in comparison to classic monsters.
The Hollywood veteran sat down to watch the 2008 blockbuster to check out the cinematic craze her grandchildren were so excited about.
But she was disappointed after watching the movie, starring hunk Robert Pattinson, and sat her granddaughter down to give her a lesson in frightening films.
Bacall writes on her Twitter.com page, "Yes, I saw Twilight - my granddaughter made me watch it, she said it was the greatest vampire film ever. After the ‘film’ was over I wanted to smack her across her head with my shoe, but I do not want a (tell-all) book called Grannie Dearest written on me when I die. So instead I gave her a DVD of Murnau’s 1922 masterpiece Nosferatu and told her, ‘Now that’s a vampire film!’ And that goes for all of you! Watch Nosferatu instead!"
