JACKSON NURSE DENIES ADMINISTERING PROPOFOL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

A nurse who aided MICHAEL JACKSON before his tragic death has denied she administered a "cocktail" of powerful anaesthetic Propofol to the pop legend.
On Monday (24Aug09) it was confirmed Jackson had lethal levels of the drug in his body when he died, after an affidavit was unsealed in Houston, Texas.
Jackson’s personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray allegedly told police he had been treating Jackson for insomnia for six weeks before the singer’s death, giving him 50 milligrams of Propofol every night using an intravenous line. He claimed he had tried to wean his famous patient off the drug by lowering the dosage and mixing it with other sedatives.
According to the affidavit, Murray told officials he believed Jackson’s former nurse Cherilyn Lee also gave the legend a Propofol "cocktail".
However, Lee has hit back at the allegations, insisting she gave Jackson a "nutritional IV" of "basically vitamin C" and had never administered Propofol, also known as Diprivan, to Jackson. She also claims there were "no injection marks" on his body when she last saw him in April (09), reports TMZ.com.
Murray has rejected recent reports the Los Angeles Coroner will rule Jackson’s death a homicide and insisted through his lawyer that integral parts of the affidavit are incorrect - including claims the medic left the star alone while he made phone calls on the night Jackson died.

MUSTAINE BLASTS ULRICH OVER HALL OF FAME SNUB

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 pm

DAVE MUSTAINE has blasted his former METALLICA bandmate LARS ULRICH for leaving him out of the band’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Mustaine wasn’t among the Metallica members, past and present, in April’s Class of 2009, because he didn’t feature on any of the band’s albums - despite performing with them for two years.
The guitarist reveals drummer Ulrich invited him to the ceremony, but only to watch - infuriating the Megadeth frontman.
He tells Metal Hammer, “Lars said… ‘If you were on the record you got inducted, if you weren’t on the record, you didn’t’, and would I come along and hang out and watch them get inducted? It makes for the same kind of mentality as a guy watching some other guy f**k his girlfriend.
"To say that I’m not on the record, well, I’d say that there are 40 million fans with Megadeth and Metallica records in their collections that would say that Dave is on the Metallica records because my name’s on there, but I guess Lars never really looked past the word ‘Ulrich’." The experience has made Mustaine even more determined to make it into the Hall of Fame on his own accord, adding, "Bottom line is, I’m going to get into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame one way or another and he can’t keep me out! When I do, I’m going to ask him to induct us and I’m gonna give eggs to everyone in the front row!"

ACTRESS DUFFY TAKES AIM AT DA CANDIDATE OVER TV AD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 pm

Veteran actress DOLORES DWYER DUFFY has taken aim at a former judge bidding to become the Manhattan district attorney - alleging she was tricked into appearing in a TV ad as part of her ongoing campaign.
Duffy, who’s appeared in Sex & the City and Law & Order, admits she was confused when a politically active worker in her New York apartment building knocked on her door to campaign for Leslie Crocker Synder.
She claims she was taken in a limo to City Hall and put infront of a camera, without understanding what was going on.
When Duffy realised she had inadvertently campaigned for Synder, she contacted the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) to investigate claims her union rights had been violated.
She explains to the New York Post, "I felt I was misled. It was totally confusing to me. She might be a very good candidate. I don’t know anything about her… Usually, you sign a release when you work on a commercial. I signed nothing." However, a campaign spokesperson has brushed off the incident as a misunderstanding, insisting organisers were under the impression Duffy had "volunteered to participate" and would not be featured in the TV spot.
The spokesperson adds: "It has since been brought to our attention that Ms. Duffy is a SAG member and wishes to be compensated for her services, and the campaign will be paying her."

PARKER’S BED BUG SCARE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:18 pm

Actress MARY-LOUISE PARKER is itching to find out what kind of insects have infested her home - she’s called in bed bug specialists after her son appeared with suspicious bites.
The Weeds star is convinced she’s fallen victim to the bed bug outbreak in New York and is packing up her belongings to have her home combed for creatures and sterilised.
And she admits she’s terrified her home has been taken over by the tiny bloodsuckers.
Parker says, "I’ve had a bit of a bed bug scare… It’s rampant. They don’t burrow into your body but they get into your life and they get everywhere. It’s really horrible. They have a service where they bring the dog to your house… it walks all around the house and wherever it senses the bed bugs it sits down. You put all over your stuff in this pod and it’s fumigated and 12 days later you get your pod back. They can infiltrate to the rest of your world. I could be covered in large red welts. They bite, they suck your blood.
It’s pending. I don’t know (if we have them). My son has three bites on his arm… it’s not in the pod yet but if the dog sits enough times (we’ll know)."

COOGAN STILL PALS WITH WILSON

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:45 pm

STEVE COOGAN remains a close friend of OWEN WILSON - despite COURTNEY LOVE controversially claiming the British funnyman caused the WEDDING CRASHERS star’s alleged suicide attempt in 2007.
Wilson was hospitalised two years ago (07) when he was found at his home in Santa Monica, Los Angeles after allegedly downing pills and slashing his wrists.
Following the incident Love, who previously dated Coogan, blamed the comedian for Wilson’s downfall, saying at the time, "I was just out of rehab, and he was right there with the drugs. I tried to warn Owen. I tried to warn his friends… I hope from the bottom of my heart that Owen stays the hell away from that guy." Coogan, who starred in Night at the Museum and Around the World in 80 Days alongside Wilson, strongly denied the accusation, branding it "unfounded, unhelpful and hurtful".
And the comic has now blasted reports his career and friendship with the Hollywood actor have deteriorated as a result of Love’s claims.
He says, "It was a complete fabrication put out about by someone who had a different agenda. In America they realised it was b******s as soon as they established that it was spread by someone who was trying to throw a grenade in my path. The industry made it very clear to me that they knew, so thankfully it had no effect on my career or my friendship with Owen.
"Yes, Owen did have a bit of a personal wobble between the first Night At The Museum film and the one we’ve just finished, but he is totally fine now. I spent last Thanksgiving with his family in Texas. We’re working together again this year. It never affected my friendship with him at all."

HALL DENIES HER BOOK WAS SCRAPPED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:45 pm

JERRY HALL is insisting her autobiography has been postponed - not shelved by the publishers as previously reported.
The former supermodel, who was married to Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger for nine years until 1999, had lined up a $1.6 million (£1 million) deal with publishing giant Harper Collins for her memoirs.
But book bosses announced the deal was off in May (09), despite Hall receiving an $800,000 (£500,000) advance for the tome.
Reports surfaced that Harper Collins chiefs had hoped for an "explosive" tell-all text about her life with the rock star, but were left unimpressed with the notes.
But Hall, who declined to talk about the deal at the time, insists it was a mutual decision to not publish the work and that she wants to wait a few years before letting the public read her life story.
She says, "It’s been put on hold. Hopefully, it’s coming out at some point. It was a mutual decision to wait. I’m not really ready to put it out yet; maybe in a few years.
"I’ve found writing it cathartic, though. I think as you mature you do remember things differently, or certain things become more important than you thought they were when you were younger."

DOHERTY REUNITES WITH EX-LIBERTINES DRUMMER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:42 pm

British rocker PETE DOHERTY thrilled fans at a solo gig on Tuesday (25Aug09) by teaming up with former THE LIBERTINES drummer PAUL DUFOUR to perform some rare songs.
The singer was performing an intimate gig at a bar in London when Dufour appeared onstage unannounced.
Lucky fans of the band were left stunned when the pair proceeded to belt out more than a dozen songs - including several rare and unreleased tracks.
Dufour tells NME.com, "I went down there with my percussion and box and just pushed through the crowd, got on the stage and we played about 15 songs. Pete announced he was going to do one more song, but then when I turned up we did about 45 minutes extra.
"It was quite a surprise - we didn’t talk about it before or anything! He was in a good mood, it was really good to see him. He played well. I was surprised at how many songs we remembered after all these years." Dufour played drums with the first lineup of The Libertines but was replaced by Gary Powell before they had their big break in 2002.

BEYONCE BASKS IN BURKE’S ALBUM GLORY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:42 pm

BEYONCE has kept her promise to help THE X FACTOR winner ALEXANDRA BURKE in her solo career - surprising the young singer during a recording session in Los Angeles.
The Crazy In Love hitmaker performed with Burke during the last season of the U.K. reality show, helping her clinch the winner’s title in the December (08) finale.
Beyonce was full of praise for the Hallelujah singer and vowed to help her in the music business, even asking Burke to support her on the U.K. leg of her I Am…Sasha Fierce tour earlier this year (09).
The 21 year old was forced to decline the offer as she was recording her debut album - but Beyonce was not put off by the rejection.
Burke says, "I’ve definitely stayed in touch with her. She’s absolutely a wonderful woman, just a normal person. When she came in to the studio to visit me and listen to my songs, that for me was just out of this world.
"I was singing a couple of ad-libs, my eyes were closed, I opened my eyes and there she was standing there. I was just like, ‘How do people do that? It’s not right’. She is very supportive and I’m just very thankful to know that I actually sang with her."

BASS CLEARS UP CONFUSION OVER ‘FIGHT’ PHOTOS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:42 pm

LANCE BASS has laughed off speculation he was involved in a nightclub altercation with paparazzi, insisting the reports were fabricated.
The former ‘NSYNC star was said to have found himself in a tussle with a photographer after the singer’s pal tried to block him from getting a shot as the pair exited London’s Boujis hotspot on Sunday (23Aug09).
Further reports surfaced alleging Bass and his companion were involved in a brawl, sparked by a photo which depicted Bass grappling with his pal as he held him in a headlock.
But the singer has taken to his blog to set the record straight, insisting he and his companion were merely playing around when the pictures were taken.
He writes, "Here are the fact (sic). That was not a date, just a friend, I was laughing the whole time because we had no clue there would be photogs (photographers) outside this club that I had never heard of - and we were so blinded we couldn’t see. A photog runs into my friend and they almost fall over each other. It is so funny what story you can create with a few pictures.
"I actually think it makes a better story if my friend and I were in a fight, he did have me in a choke hold for God’s sake! I do feel a little better now that one of my friends knows what it is like to have pictures taken out of context. Sorry to ruin the fun, but nothing really dramatic happened."

BRITISH FESTIVAL BEACHDOWN SCRAPPED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:39 pm

British music festival BEACHDOWN has been cancelled just days before its launch.
The four-day music extravaganza was due to kick off on Friday (28Aug09) and run throughout the weekend until Monday (31Aug09) in the south coast town of Brighton.
But organisers were forced to axe the festival, which was set to feature performances from The Zutons, Grace Jones, and Super Furry Animals, because of poor ticket sales.
A statement from the organisers reads, "Very simply we were unable to meet the demands that the current economic climate put against us and at the eleventh hour despite having most of the infrastructure in place we have been forced to cancel the event.
"We wish to say at this time how desperately sorry we are to all those who have bought tickets or were participating in the event and to say that we all here are personally shattered especially after eleven months of battling against the recession to try and put this event on and coming so close."

Brown passed away on Friday (21Aug09) in Chicago, Illinois. He was the last surviving member of the Original Copasetics, an ensemble of tap-dancing stars formed in 1949 that helped revive the dance form. Formed after the death of international tap star Bill Bojangles Robinson, the group took its name from Robinson’s familiar phrase “everything is copacetic", and played an influential role in the tap dance movement throughout the 1970s and ’80s.
Throughout his 80-year career, Brown headlined shows at the Roxie, Radio City Music Hall and the Cotton Club in New York, the Palladium in London and the Latin Casino in Paris in the 1930s and ’40s. He also danced in 1948 Broadway musical Kiss Me Kate.
