JA RULE CLEARED TO PLAY AUSTRALIA GIG
JA RULE has been cleared to take the stage in Australia this weekend (29Aug09) after previously failing to secure a work visa to enter the country.
Promoters were forced to postpone the concert earlier this summer (09) after the rapper’s permit application was delayed "due to visa processing".
Now immigration officials Down Under have ruled the New York-based star is not a threat to national security, paving the way for him to play at Luna Park in Sydney on Saturday (29Aug09).
The country’s border authorities are notoriously strict when it comes to allowing entertainers with criminal records to perform in Australia.
Ja Rule - real name Jeffrey Atkins - was arrested and charged with weapons violations in 2007, when police discovered a loaded semi-automatic weapon in his car. In 2005, he pleaded guilty to punching a fan in Toronto, Canada.
