ANTHONY ALWAYS KNEW HE’D MARRY LOPEZ

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:00 am

MARC ANTHONY told JENNIFER LOPEZ he would marry her the very first time they met.
The pair were strangers when Lopez, who turns 40 on Friday (24Jul09), visited Anthony backstage on New York’s Broadway, where he was performing in a 1997 production of The Capeman.
Anthony reveals, "It was 12 years ago, I was on Broadway. I hadn’t met Jennifer before. She was just about to break out.
"She brought her dad backstage to meet me.
"As soon as she walked through the door, I probably said the worst thing a guy could tell a girl. I was like, ‘You’re my wife and you don’t even know it.’" Anthony, who finally married Lopez in 2004, admits she was freaked out by his outburst, and it took him years - during which she dated Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Ben Affleck - to convince her he was right all along.
He adds, "She was like, ‘Well that’s intense.’ I told her, ‘I don’t know where that came from.’ "And now she gets it. Now she’s my girl."

GREEN IS STILL IRRESISTIBLE TO THE LADIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:00 am

Veteran soul star AL GREEN’s music is such an aphrodisiac he has to employ minders to stop women from mobbing him onstage.
At 63, the singer insists he is still irresistible to the opposite sex, and narrowly escaped being attacked during a recent concert in Canada.
Green explains, "I mean these girls at a show in Ottawa… They were up on the stage so fast that security had to get them, they were jumping up on the stage so fast until security had to come out… The band were saying ‘Shall we keep playing?’ and they just kept playing and the girls kept coming."

BLUR BACK ON HIATUS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:00 am

British rockers BLUR have disappointed fans by insisting their summer gigs will be the last of their work together.
The Britpop pioneers announced their return to the music scene in December last year (08) after a six-year hiatus, and hit the stage with a series of massive outdoor shows, including a headline slot at England’s legendary Glastonbury Festival last month (Jun09).
It had been hoped the Parklife hitmakers would seal their comeback with a new album, but bassist Alex James insists there are currently no plans to head back to the recording studio or to play any more concerts.
He says, "(We have not talked about) doing anything else whatsoever. (The gigs were) what we said we’d do and we did it and it was great. It hasn’t been mentioned the idea of doing anything else but hey, it was great."

BRIGHT EYES TO SPLIT AFTER ONE MORE ALBUM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:57 am

Rockers BRIGHT EYES will split after one more album, the band’s record label boss has revealed.
Frontman Conor Oberst has been spending most of his time working with new folk rock supergroup Monsters of Folk and recently hinted he planned to retire Bright Eyes.
He told Rolling Stone, "It does feel like it needs to stop at some point. I’d like to clean it up, lock the door, say goodbye." Rob Nansel, the president of the band’s label Saddle Creek, confirms to Nebraska newspaper Omaha World-Herald, "I think he feels like Bright Eyes has a certain association, for better or worse. I think he’s trying to distance himself a little bit from what that means to people." A final album, the band’s ninth, is expected to be released in 2010.
Monsters of Folk’s debut record is due in shops this autumn (09).

JANE’S ADDICTION SCRAP AUSTRALIAN DATES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:57 am

Reformed rockers JANE’S ADDICTION have scrapped their Australian tour to allow drummer STEPHEN PERKINS to recover from an infected elbow.
Perkins has been admitted to the Infectious Disease Ward at Cedar’s-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he’s undergoing anti-biotic treatment.
The rocker is expected to make a full recovery.
The reformed original line-up of Jane’s Addiction had been on its first world tour in over 17 years and had just returned to Los Angeles from European dates when the mysterious infection was discovered after Perkins noticed severe swelling and pain building in his elbow.
The group’s Australian tour was due to start on Saturday (24Jul09).
Frontman Perry Farrell says, "I know how excited we were to come play in Australia, and how long the fans there have waited for this. I want everyone Down Under to know that we will come back as soon as we can."

WYATT SLAMS RECORD BOSSES OVER PUSSYCAT DOLLS FEUD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:57 am

PUSSYCAT DOLLS star KIMBERLY WYATT has finally opened up about the rift which is threatening to tear the band apart - accusing music bosses of favouritism by focusing on frontwoman NICOLE SCHERZINGER.
The group has long been dogged by reports of tension between the members after their last two singles were released under the name The Pussycat Dolls featuring Nicole Scherzinger.
The reports were further fuelled by allegations that bandmember Melody Thornton publicly criticised Scherzinger onstage at a gig in Phoenix, Arizona earlier this year (09).
Wyatt has now spoken publicly about the problems within the group, admitting all the other members feel slighted by their record label bosses because they are so determined to push Scherzinger to the front.
The singer reveals she gets upset when she sees the band’s videos - because she hardly features in them - and wishes she had more of a say in group decisions.
She says, "It’s true, there has always been a lot of focus on Nicole which has been hard to deal with sometimes. This group was created with a foundation, they knew exactly what they wanted and they had Nicole as the focus.
"Every video and stage performance that we’ve done, Nicole has been our leader. I wasn’t in videos like I wanted and wasn’t seen in the way I was hoping, which has been the same for all the other girls too.
"I don’t really make any of the decisions, I’m in the group and can voice my opinions to a degree but at the end of the day it is a business and there are a lot of chefs in the kitchen that run the Pussycat Dolls."

FOX: ‘I’M ONLY PALS WITH MEN’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:54 am

MEGAN FOX never makes friends with her female co-stars - because she only hangs out with boys.
The Transformers actress has previously admitted she had a frosty relationship with Lindsay Lohan during filming of Disney hit Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen.
And she admits she rarely becomes pals with her fellow female leads - insisting she always prefers the company of men.
Fox tells Britain’s Heat magazine, "I actually only had one girlfriend growing up.
"Most of my friends were boys. I was such a tomboy. I always enjoyed doing guy things. So I really didn’t get along with the girls in that aspect. My one girlfriend lives in Florida and she works in a mall. She’s the furthest thing from an actress."

MANN MISTAKEN AS DEALER BY POT-SMOKING PARENTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:54 am

Director JUDD APATOW’s drug references in films like PINEAPPLE EXPRESS have left his actress wife LESLIE MANN fuming - because their fans keep coming to her to buy marijuana.
The Knocked Up actress admits she’s been left in a conundrum since their little girls Iris and Maude both appeared in their dad’s comedy 40 Year Old Virgin and the upcoming Funny People - because their films became instant hits with their friends’ pot-smoking parents.
But since the couple have become popular for their crude humour on the big screen, the actress has become burnt out by "alarming" questions from other mums and dads - about how to smoke the drug and where to buy it.
She says, "They (my kids) can’t see the movies and their friends can’t see the movies, so it’s not really on their radar at all. But the kids’ parents see the movies, and I don’t want them to think that we’re some dirty pot smoking family.
"They like the movies a lot and they confide in me a lot about their pot-smoking ways. It is (alarming). They think I’m in some pot-smoking club. I don’t know (if) they think I can help them get it. We don’t (deal it). I don’t smoke pot at all."

JACKSON’S MOONWALK MEMOIR SET FOR RE-RELEASE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:45 pm

The executors of MICHAEL JACKSON’s estate have won permission from a Los Angeles judge to begin negotiating with book publishers for the re-release of the King of Pop’s autobiography, MOONWALK.
Financial adviser John Branca and music executive John McClain were handed control of Jackson’s estate following his untimely death last month (Jun09), as per the terms of his 2002 will.
The co-executors filed a motion earlier this month (Jul09) requesting court approval to enter talks for various business proposals in order to maximise interest in the late pop icon.
The legal papers state: "The Special Administrators believe that it is in the best interest of the Estate for all book publishing agreements to be entered as soon as possible, as sales of the book and profits for the estate will be maximised the sooner the book is released due to the notoriety surrounding Michael Jackson’s unexpected death and the resulting heightened demand for such products." TMZ.com claims the judge overseeing Jackson’s probate case authorised the move on Thursday (23Jul09).
Branca and McClain are now set to strike deals for the reprinted 1988 memoir to be distributed worldwide.
According to the website, Shaye Arehart books are expected to land the North American rights and Heinemann will sign for distribution in the U.K. Other deals for publishing the tome in France and Germany are also said to be in place.

KATHERINE JACKSON NEEDS MONEY TO CARE FOR GRANDKIDS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:45 pm

MICHAEL JACKSON’s mother KATHERINE has appealed to a Los Angeles court judge to grant her access to her son’s finances so she can provide for her grandchildren.
The pop superstar’s kids Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and seven-year-old Prince Michael II, aka Blanket, have been placed in the temporary custody of 79-year-old Katherine Jackson.
But the elderly matriarch claims she is running out of cash to look after the trio because she has no salary of her own.
Lawyers for Katherine joined legal representatives for the singer’s estate and headed to a Los Angeles court on Thursday morning (23Jul09) to file a motion for temporary financial allowances.
Attorneys for Jackson’s estate say: "We are informed that Mrs. Jackson was also financially dependent upon Michael Jackson and that other than extremely modest social security benefits, Mrs. Jackson has no independent means of support.
"Michael Jackson died four weeks ago. Therefore, there is an urgent need for the Special Administrators to be authorised to pay family allowance for the benefits of Minor Children in order to ensure that the Minor Children’s needs for maintenance and support are met." But Katherine will have to rely on the rest of her family to help provide for her grandchildren’s needs until 3 August (09), when the case will be heard in court, reports TMZ.com.
The matter will be discussed during a probate hearing scheduled for the same date.

RADCLIFFE CALLS FOR SOMALI CO-STARS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:42 pm

HARRY POTTER star DANIEL RADCLIFFE has called on the producers of his upcoming movie about Somalia to cast actors from the African country to keep the project authentic.
The 20 year old is preparing to film The Journey Is The Destination, in which he will play Dan Eldon, the British photojournalist whose work brought global attention to the Somali civil war in the 1990s.
And he’s hoping the movie’s casting directors will maintain respect for the country by hiring actors of the correct ethnicity.
He tells Empire magazine, "I don’t want to do that horrible Black Hawk Down thing of filming in one part of Africa and then casting actors from a completely different area and doing that awful, ‘Oh, they look the same, no one will notice the difference.’ "It’s this form of very subtle racism that seems to happen sometimes and it’s horrible. So I’d hope we can get extras who are Somalian (sic), rather than from South Africa or Zimbabwe, for example." Ridley Scott’s 2001 war movie Black Hawk Down came under fire for failing to feature Somali actors despite the fact it focused on a battle that occurred in the African country.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:42 pm

KELIS LANDS MAJOR PAY DAY FROM NAS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:39 pm

New mum KELIS has won a whopping $55,000 (£36,665)-a-week in spousal and child support from estranged husband NAS after a judge ruled in her favour in their ongoing divorce battle.
Rapper Nas only wanted to pay $5,000 (£3,330) a month in child support for their newborn son Knight, while his budget for spousal support was not released.
Kelis - who filed for divorce in April (09) - argued she needed $3,500 (£2,335) for a baby nurse and an additional $20,000 (£13,335) for strollers, cribs and other baby supplies.
But the Milkshake singer, who gave birth in New York on Tuesday (21Jul09), will now have cash to spare after a U.S. judge ordered Nas to hand over the more substantial sum during a hearing on Thursday (23Jul09).
He will also have to cover additional costs of prenatal expenses and medical insurance and pay $35,000 (£23,330) in legal fees to Kelis’ lawyer Laura Wasser, reports TMZ.com.
The former hip-hop supercouple was originally due in court on Tuesday, but they were excused from the hearing after Kelis went into labour.
The stars are both seeking joint custody of the baby boy.

VAN HALEN UNDERGOES HAND SURGERY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:39 pm

Legendary guitarist EDDIE VAN HALEN is recovering after undergoing surgery on his injured hand.
The Van Halen star sought out specialists after the pain he first experienced in two of his fingers at the end of the band’s last tour, worsened.
The experts initially suspected arthritis, but then diagnosed a bone spur, twisted tendon and a cyst in the joint of his left thumb.
He tells RollingStone.com, "During the last leg of our tour, I started developing pain in my thumb and my pinky. I didn’t think much of it at the time. It got progressively worse to the point that about three months ago, I wasn’t able to play at all. My pinky and my thumb were totally locked up and felt like there was something broken.
"They said the only way to fix it was surgery, which of course scared the s**t out of me, but I was told it was the only way to fix it." Speaking after the operation, Van Halen hailed it a "success", adding, "Now I just have to let it heal. I am totally jazzed that they found the problem, fixed it and in about four months my hand will feel like I am 18 again. Thank God."

PERKINS’ MYSTERY INFECTION FORCES JANE’S ADDICTION TOUR CANCELLATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:39 pm

JANE’S ADDICTION drummer STEPHEN PERKINS has been admitted to a Los Angeles hospital’s Infectious Disease Ward - prompting the reunited rockers to scrap all of their upcoming Australian tour dates.
The band was due to kick off the latest leg of their first world tour in 17 years on Saturday (25Jul09), but the string of shows Down Under has been cancelled as Perkins remains isolated at Cedars-Sinai Hospital for an infected elbow.
A post on the group’s website reveals the mystery illness was spotted upon their return to L.A. following their tour of Europe.
A statement from the band reads: "Doctors expect to keep (Perkins) there for the next few days for further diagnosis and observation while anti-biotic treatment continues. Fans are being asked not to worry as a full recovery is expected over the next few weeks.
"The reformed original line-up of Jane’s Addiction had been on their first world tour in over 17 years and had just returned to Los Angeles from a successful European leg when the mysterious infection was discovered after Perkins noticed severe swelling and pain building in his elbow.
"Regretfully the group’s Australian tour, due to start on Saturday, is forced to be cancelled at this time." However, frontman Perry Farrell has promised to find time to reschedule the Australian concerts.
He says, "I know how excited we were to come play in Australia, and how long the fans there have waited for this. I want everyone Down Under to know that we will come back as soon as we can."
