SEINFELD SWAPS SITCOMS FOR SMALL ADS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 10:36 pm

TV billionaire JERRY SEINFELD was so impressed bank bosses in Australia had the guts to ask him to appear in their new TV ads, he agreed to take part for a tiny fee.
The comic turns down dozens of TV and advertising requests, but agreed to appear in the new Greater Building Society Ltd commercial, after bank bigwigs approached him directly.
CEO Don Magin says, "Seinfeld topped our wish list of big stars we knew we’d never get." He was stunned when Seinfeld, who earned $2 billion (£1.2 billion) from writing and starring in his own longrunning sitcom, said yes.
Magin adds, "He was wonderful. He gave us enough material for two dozen ads, along with his OK to use it all. Jerry doesn’t need the money. He did it because he thought it was fun.
"We couldn’t afford what he’d charge if he did it for money."

LAW FACING LEGAL ACTION OVER SNAPPER ATTACK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:30 pm

British actor JUDE LAW is facing legal action from a female photographer he allegedly hit during a night out in London.
The Alfie star was surrounded by snappers as he exited Automat nightclub in the early hours of Thursday morning (23Jul09) and was pictured lashing out as he tried to get to his car.
Law, 36, was accused of hitting Harsha Gopal on the head and slapping her in the face as she tried to take his picture.
He has since denied the accusations. A statement from his lawyer, Graham Shear, reads, "This is all nonsense. Last night’s incident was an accident. Jude was blinded by the camera flashes when he left the restaurant, raised his hand to shield himself and inadvertently struck somebody standing very close. He apologised and left. Pictures of this sort can often be misleading." But Gopal visited Charing Cross police station on Thursday night to report the incident.
She told The London Paper, âI felt his hand come across my face… There was a massive thud and my face is still stinging.â A police spokesman says, "On the evening of Thursday, 23 July, a 28-year-old woman attended a central London police station to make an allegation of common assault.
"The woman alleges that she was assaulted by a man, aged in his 30s, earlier on 23 July. Westminster officers are investigating the allegation." The Brit actor came face to face with Gopal again on Thursday night, as she snapped him leaving London’s Wyndham Theatre, where he was booed by onlookers berating him over the incident and demanding he apologise.
Law was previously accused of assaulting a paparazzi photographer in 2007 - he was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm after attempting to grab a camera outside his London home. He was later released without charge.

RIMES SPARKS SPLIT SPECULATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:24 pm

LEANN RIMES has sparked fresh speculation she has split from dancer husband DEAN SHEREMET - after she was snapped without her wedding ring.

CRAZED ALLAN FAN HANDED RESTRAINING ORDER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:24 pm

A crazed fan of country singer GARY ALLAN has been handed a permanent restraining order after allegedly stalking the star and breaking into his Tennessee home.
Katherine Walker was arrested in May (09) after wreaking havoc in Allen’s Nashville property in April (09) - throwing around furniture, breaking into a car and smashing a window in the kitchen.
The 47 year old claimed she lashed out after Allan reportedly stood her up at a bar, although the singer insists she has been harassing him for years.
Walker was charged with burglary, stalking and vandalism and handed a temporary restraining order to keep her away from her idol.
At a hearing in Sumner County Chancery Court, Tennessee on Tuesday (21Jul09), the order was made permanent by Judge Tom Gray after he heard testimony by Allan and several of his band members and business associates.
Allan’s lawyer Allen Ehmling says, "Dealing with fans, there’s some of that adoration that goes with the job. However, when someone starts coming over to your home, damages your property, tries to get into your home, goes through the vehicles, throws bricks through your window, throws furniture into the pool off a second-floor balcony, I think that crosses the line clearly.
"I think he’s glad to have it behind him. Wouldn’t anybody be? Now all he’s got to do is deal with whatever the district attorney wants on the criminal side. As far as the civil case, we’re glad it’s over and done with." Walker is due to be arraigned on Friday (24Jul09) on criminal charges in connection to the incident at Allan’s home.

JACKSON WANTED KNIGHTHOOD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:45 pm

Late pop legend MICHAEL JACKSON was desperate to meet British monarch QUEEN ELIZABETH II - because he wanted to be given a knighthood.
The Thriller hitmaker often enjoyed trips to London and was once treated to a tour of the Houses of Parliament in the U.K. capital by his friend Uri Geller.

GELLER’S FEARS FOR JACKSON

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:42 pm

Psychic URI GELLER was so concerned about former friend MICHAEL JACKSON’s drug use, he slept by the King Of Pop’s bed to ensure he didn’t die in his sleep.
The Thriller singer passed away last month (Jun09) after suffering a cardiac arrest, sparking rumours he was dabbling with dangerous medications and was hooked on a number of substances prior to his death.
Police searching his home following the tragedy confiscated several bags of drugs, including the powerful narcotic Demerol.
Spoon-bending performer Geller - who was pals with Jackson throughout the 1990s - reveals he was so worried about the star during their friendship he would sleep by his side to make sure Jackson woke up in the morning.
Geller tells British morning show GMTV, "I have never seen Michael take drugs but I have seen the aftermath.
"It came to the situation where we (Geller and Jackson’s former head of security Matt Fiddes) were so concerned he’s not going to wake up in the morning that I slept next to his bed just to make sure no one entered his room. This goes back many years now." Geller also tried to help Jackson overcome his addiction - but admits his hard-talking landed on deaf ears, because the singer refused to listen to his advice.
He adds, "Absolutely I raised my voice. I shouted at Michael, so did Matt Fiddes. ‘Michael you are going to die.’ These were my words. ‘You are killing yourself. The world needs you, nobody wants to lose you.’ But he said, ‘Don’t interfere in my private life’. We said it many, many times.
"I think I was the only person that raised his voice to Michael Jackson, nobody else did - maybe his dad many decades ago." But Geller is determined the truth about Jackson’s death will be outed: "This is the question that has to be asked. Who did this? Why did it happen? Why wasn’t there someone to say no, to stop this?"
