The Speed star wed the TV tough guy and motorbike enthusiast in 2005 - but it was a chance session in the gym that convinced Bullock he was the man for her.
The fitness centre was playing heavy rock music, but James’ iPod was blasting out the British girl band’s 1996 debut hit Wannabe - and the actress fell in love.
Bullock says, "It was all Slayer and Metallica and then I heard something across the gym and I go, ‘Is that the Spice Girls? He’s listening to the Spice Girls?’ That’s when I looked at him and said, ‘I love this man. He’s not what I thought.’"

A second man has died following the collapse of MADONNA’s stage in the south of France on Thursday afternoon (16Jul09).
A 53-year-old French man died when a large section of the platform for the singer’s Sticky & Sweet tour fell on a group of technicians working at the Marseilles Stade Velodrome.
Two other workers were rushed to hospital in a critical condition, while six others were treated for their injuries.
The Holiday hitmaker cancelled her scheduled concert at the venue in Marseille on Sunday (19Jul09) as a mark of respect, and said in a statement: "I am devastated to have just received this tragic news. My prayers go out to those who were injured and their families along with my deepest sympathy to all those affected by this heartbreaking news." Now a second man - believe to be a 32-year-old Briton - has died of his injuries in the freak accident.
Marseille’s city councillor Maurice Di Nocera said the roof "started shaking and collapsing" gradually.
He adds, "Since it did not collapse right away, that allowed several people to get out, to avoid being hit."

Bosses of an early morning U.K. TV show ordered LADY GAGA to tone down her daring stage act - to avoid offending viewers.
The Just Dance hitmaker was booked to appear on GMTV on Thursday (16Jul09) to perform her new single Paparazzi, but producers were concerned about the star’s notorious skimpy outfits and provocative dancing.
She was asked to cut out the racier elements of her routine out of respect for viewers of the show, which is broadcast from 6am.

Former HOLE star MELISSA AUF DER MAUR is recovering from a bout of swine flu.
The musician started showing symptoms of the deadly virus in May (09) and went to a hospital, where she was diagnosed with a sinus infection and prescribed antibiotics.
The 37 year old carried on with a planned series of concerts and headed to London and Toronto, Canada for an appearance at the North by Northeast festival.
But Auf Der Maur was still feeling ill at the end of last month (Jun09) and returned to the doctor - where she was diagnosed with the swine flu.
She says, "For a person who only gets ill once or twice a decade, it was scary. It turns out that, somewhere between a video shoot in Vermont, a heavy metal concert in London, and my own musical showcase in Toronto, I had indeed fallen victim to a world pandemic.
"Suddenly, a week into my shortness of breath, it really hit: a rollercoaster of fever spikes.
"Over the course of 48 hours, my temperature went from 95 to 101 (degrees Fahrenheit), and back again. It was a very strange feeling, being pulled back and forth between severe illness and feeling fine." But after a new round of antibiotics, Auf der Maur is starting to feel better.
She adds, "I am now officially on the mend - thanks to a combination of naturopathic treatments and heavy-duty antibiotics, among other survival tools.
"When many other swine virgins will be falling ill, I’ll be good to go! However, have no fear friends: it’s a terrible flu, but it is manageable, and we swine veterans will be here to help you through it. Here’s to good health." The disease has claimed an estimated 500 lives across the world, with almost 100,000 diagnosed with the illness.

HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE has cast a spell worldwide - taking in more than $100 million (£66 million) in its first day of release.
The film hit theatres on Wednesday (15Jul09) and midnight screenings alone in the U.S. scooped $22.2 million (£14.8 million), scoring the best opening night gross of all time.
The sixth movie in the boy wizard franchise saw U.S. takings almost triple for the whole day, garnering $58.2 million (£38.8 million).
The latest instalment, which stars Daniel Radcliffe as Potter, took $45.9 million (£30.6 million) from the rest of the world - taking its first day opening to $104 million (£69 million).
The film also scored the third-highest opening day record of all time in the U.K. and Australia, grossing $7.6 million (£5 million) and $4.4. million £2.9 million) respectively.

POPE BENEDICT XVI was hospitalised on Friday (17Jul09), after he slipped and fractured his wrist during a holiday in Italy.
The head of the Catholic church was on a break in the Alps when he fell in the bathroom of his chalet, injuring his arm.
The 82 year old still "celebrated mass and had breakfast" before walking to a local hospital with an aide, according to a Vatican spokesperson.
Father Federico Lombardi adds, "He slipped in his bath this morning. He was taken to hospital for check-ups. It’s nothing serious." The Pontiff had his wrist put in a cast by doctors at the medical facility in Aosta, northern Italy.

Veteran star WARREN BEATTY filed papers on Thursday (16Jul09) in a bid to ban cameras from his upcoming DICK TRACY court case.
Beatty is due in a Delaware, U.S. court on 23 July (09) in an ongoing case with Tribune Media Services - a unit of bankrupt newspaper publisher Tribune - in relation to the ownership rights of the police detective character.
The company alleges Beatty "wrongly claims" to have exclusive motion picture and television rights to Dick Tracy - even though he bought the broadcast rights in 1985 and went on to act and direct the 1990 film of the same name, which also starred Madonna and Al Pacino.
Tribune Co. claims Beatty "made no productive use" of the rights for more than a decade and therefore they should revert back to Tribune as the franchise is potentially worth millions.
Beatty is set to appear in court later this month (Jul09) to fight the case - but he wants to make sure cameras are not allowed access.
His attorneys filed an emergency motion on Thursday asking the judge to prohibit the videotaping of the actor’s deposition, arguing that videotaping is unnecessary and could result in a violation of his privacy.
Tribune has offered to negotiate a protective order restricting dissemination of any tape, but Beatty insists the order would be inadequate to prevent Internet distribution.

Cancer-hit ANGELA’S ASHES author FRANK MCCOURT is fighting for his life after contracting meningitis.
McCourt, whose book was made into a hit movie, has been battling melanoma skin cancer in a New York hospice, but his condition took a turn for the worse when he contracted the deadly brain disease.
And the 78 year old is not expected to recover from the illness, according to his brother, veteran actor Malachy McCourt.
He says, "We don’t expect him to live very long. He got meningitis and that screwed up the whole thing. (Until then) he was doing okay, speaking and lecturing and appearing and signing and doing all the usual stuff.
"He was one of the unfortunate ones. Only three to five per cent of people who have melanoma get this form of meningitis.
"He’s still conscious, but his hearing has gone and his eyesight is going. He’s speaking less."

Actor JAMES CAVIEZEL was rushed to hospital on Thursday (16Jul09) after he was involved in a freak motorcycle accident.
The Passion of the Christ star was thrown from his Harley Davidson motorbike when an unidentified man threw a bicycle into his path as he rode through a northern area of Washington State.
The 40 year old was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for cuts and bruises.
A police spokesperson said the star was wearing a helmet and that the accident "could have been a lot worse".

JOE JACKSON broke down in fits of laughter as he tried to spank a young MICHAEL JACKSON - because the pop superstar was too fast to hit, according to his brother TITO.
In the years before his death, the Thriller hitmaker told interviewers on several occasions how his father would beat all of his performer children in a bid to make them work harder.
He once explained how he was so scared of his music manager father, he would "regurgitate" with fear when the Jackson patriarch became angry.
Tito Jackson, in an interview with Britain’s Daily Mirror, admits that their dad did regularly beat them - but insists it was the normal thing for parents of that era to do.

He tells the publication, "Most of the time Michael was so quick my father couldn’t hit him. He’d swing the belt and Michael would be over there, he’d swing again and Michael would be over here.
"My father used to just stop and laugh because he couldn’t hit him. Michael would just dance around him. My father would get tired and give up.
"From those of us not raised in our generation they might not understand it. You got a big ass punishment or you got spanked for it. That’s the way it was."

MICHAEL JACKSON’s mum KATHERINE is struggling to come to terms with the tragic demise of her superstar son after the realisation of his death finally hit her, according to U.S. reports.
The Jackson clan matriarch has been hailed as a pillar of strength by her family in the light of the Thriller hitmaker’s untimely death last month (Jun09).
She has set out to take care of her three fatherless grandchildren, and was awarded temporary guardianship of Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and seven-year-old Prince Michael ‘Blanket’ II, pending a custody hearing on Monday (20Jul09).
But after weeks of keeping her grief contained, Katherine Jackson has finally fallen victim to her own bereavement over the loss of her beloved son, according to People.com.
A source tells the website, "It’s finally hit her. She’s been crying a lot. Her eyes are constantly red. She can’t believe Michael is gone. She feels horrible for those children. (But) she’s determined to remain strong for them." And the stories slamming her estranged husband Joe and his parenting skills while the Jackson kids were growing up has only added to her personal strain.
The insider adds, "She is very upset about all the Joe bashing and all the things that are being said about him. Michael’s kids love Grandpa Joe. Hearing him trashed makes Katherine really angry."

The producer of MISCHA BARTON’s latest movie HOMECOMING has reached out to the star following her reported breakdown - and praises her "professional" worth ethic on the film’s set.
The actress was taken to a mystery location by officers who "assisted her with a medical issue", a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson has confirmed.
Her representative Craig Schneider tells People.com, "Police were involved due to Ms. Barton’s celebrity status, to safely transfer her to medical treatment as per doctor’s orders. (She’s) okay and resting." According to Access Hollywood, the star was placed under a 5150 hold - reserved for individuals who present a danger to themselves or others, are gravely disabled or suffer from a mental disorder - by the request of her physician.
Due to her health issues, Barton was forced to pull out of the Homecoming premiere - but the film’s producer, Austin Stark, has nothing but kind words for the troubled actress.
He tells People.com, "I wish her all the best. First and foremost, we want her to get healthy again. It’s obvious we’d like her to support the movie and be here, but we hope she gets better." And Stark insists the star was a pleasure to work with throughout filming: "When she was on-set, she acted like a professional. I honestly had no complaints. She struck me as a nice young girl, she never said anything mean to anyone, and she wasn’t late on-set or anything like that."

The former Playboy model who played MICHAEL JACKSON’s girlfriend in his iconic THRILLER video has relaunched her battle for royalties from the promo following the superstar’s death last month (Jun09).
Ola Ray, the beauty Jackson sang to in the groundbreaking picture, launched a lawsuit against the King of Pop himself in April (09), claiming she was still owed unpaid royalties stemming from her appearance in the video.
And Jackson’s death hasn’t stopped Ray’s quest for the alleged owed payments - her legal team has now filed new papers against the Jackson estate as the star is no longer alive.
Ray’s lawyer, Jason Feldman, insists she is owed a "substantial sum" as the copyright value of the Thriller video is worth even more since the singer’s tragic death.
He tells RadarOnline.com, "We believe that our client is due a substantial sum as the copyright value for Thriller has gone-up considerably since he died.
"It’s obviously complicated to equate exactly how much this is but sales for the video itself have generated somewhere between $15 to $40 million dollars since it was first released." But Feldman is quick to add that his client has no ill feelings towards the late star - insisting the lawsuit is strictly business.
He explains, "Ola has nothing personal against Michael Jackson and was sad about his passing but this is strictly a business deal that we feel has never been fully obliged."

KIEFER SUTHERLAND’s trial date for allegedly headbutting a fashion designer has been postponed indefinitely, according to a court spokesperson.
The 24 star was accused of attacking stylist Jack McCollough for no reason at the Met Gala in New York in May (09). McCollough was hospitalised with a broken nose after the alleged encounter.
Sutherland maintained he accosted the designer after he barged past actress pal Brooke Shields, who backed up the TV star’s story, calling the incident "unfortunate".
The pair reportedly agreed on a settlement shortly after the incident, with the release of a joint statement in which Sutherland admitted he "regretted" the incident.
However, the actor was still slated to appear in a Manhattan court on Friday (17Jul09) to face the charges, but a spokesperson for the district attorney’s office has confirmed the appearance has been put back until further notice.

British rocker PETE DOHERTY persuaded a judge to change his bail terms for one night only - so he could celebrate his sister’s graduation.
The musician is currently facing charges of driving under the influence and drug possession stemming from his arrest in June (09), when cops discovered Class A drugs after stopping the star as he drove along a street in Gloucester, England.
Doherty pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving but admitted the charges of drug possession, as well as driving without a valid license or insurance. No plea was entered on the drink-driving charge.
He is due in court next month (Aug09), but his legal team appeared in court in England on Thursday (16Jul09) to request a last-minute bail change.
The application was allowed, meaning Doherty is free to stay out past his 7pm curfew to join in family celebrations for his sibling’s graduation from university.
The 7pm to 7am curfew is not in action when he is performing shows.

Former DESTINY’S CHILD star MICHELLE WILLIAMS knew she wasn’t cut out for a career in criminal justice - when she had to sleep with the lights on after seeing a dead body.
The singer was pursuing a degree in criminal justice at Illinois State University in the 1990s, and was required to watch autopsies as part of her course.
However, just days before she was set to have the grisly lesson, Williams joined the Independent Women hitmakers and went on the road.
But a morbid curiosity prompted the star to visit an undertaker pal at a funeral home - and Williams was left petrified by what she saw.
She says, "A couple of days before I left to play my first Destiny’s Child show, I was supposed to go see an autopsy. It had to be rescheduled but I never got to see it.
"A few years ago, a friend of mine who works in a funeral home let me in to see how they prepare a body for burial. I had to go home and sleep with the lights on, but it was just curiosity. I wanted to see it for all for myself."
