MISCHA BARTON has left one producer of her new movie HOMECOMING fuming after she cancelled her appearance at the film’s New York premiere on Thursday (16Jul09) amid reports of a breakdown.
A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson has confirmed the former The O.C. star called officials to her Hollywood home on Wednesday (15Jul09) for assistance "with a medical issue".
Reports suggest she was taken to a mystery location where she was placed under a 5150 hold - reserved for individuals who present a danger to themselves or others, are gravely disabled or suffer from a mental disorder - by the request of her physician.
Barton subsequently pulled out of her planned red carpet appearance on Thursday, and while one producer, Austin Stark, has been sympathetic to the actress’ troubles, his colleague Bingo Gubelmann admitted he was angry at the star’s no-show.
But he stopped short of slamming Barton, fearing his comments would hurt his production firm’s reputation.
He tells Usmagazine.com, "It’s frustrating. And it’s not ideal. It’s frustrating, but I’m not going to sit here and trash her because we’re young as a company and we’ve got to live and learn… I don’t want to be known as the producer that will turn on any actress at the drop of that hat." However, Gubelmann continued to vent his annoyance, claiming "it’s hard to remember" why he cast Barton in the movie, "because, you know, she’s not here right now".
He adds, "Now, I haven’t spoken to her yet because she’s totally unreachable, so I don’t know exactly what happened, (but) yes, it would obviously be nice if she was here (at the premiere). Even just to hang out."

Music producer DALLAS AUSTIN has blasted rumours he’s romancing BRITNEY SPEARS - insisting the pair is just "good friends".
According to the New York Post, the Toxic singer spent time with pal Austin at his Atlanta, Georgia home earlier this month (Jul09), where they shared intimate conversations about "music, life and work".
The trip prompted rumours the two had become an item, with one source saying: "It was just the two of them for a few nights." But Austin denies he and Spears have traded their work relationship for a romantic one.
His spokesperson says, "They are good friends and have been for a long time."

LINDSAY LOHAN’s dad MICHAEL has blasted producers of a new porn movie spoofing the actress and her on/off relationship with SAMANTHA RONSON.
Untrue Hollywood Stories: Lindsay Lohan sees lookalike Scarlett Fay romping with legendary XXX actor Ron Jeremy while Ronson’s character, played by porn star Dylan Ryan, looks on.
The parody, produced by Hustler magazine, also sees ‘Lohan’ dressed up as a naughty schoolgirl, throwing back champagne and sharing a steamy kiss with ‘Ronson’.
But the 23 year old Mean Girls star’s outspoken father Michael has lashed out at movie bosses for taking advantage of his daughter’s troubled reputation.
He tells the New York Post, "That’s disgusting! I don’t want to see it. We can’t stop it, but I wish she would get herself out of this situation where she puts herself in the limelight where people are going to pick on her."

MADONNA fought back tears at her concert in Udine, Italy on Thursday night (16Jul09) as she paid tribute to the two stagehands who lost their lives building the set for her weekend show in France.
Two men - one French and one British - were killed and several others were injured on Thursday afternoon when a crane fell, causing a large section of the stage for the pop superstar’s Sticky & Sweet tour to collapse, crushing the technicians working under the platform at the Marseilles Stade Velodrome.
Madonna released a statement expressing her "devastation" at the "tragic news" and subsequently scrapped the first of five Marseille shows, scheduled for Sunday (19Jul09), as a mark of respect.
She used her gig in Italy that night to share her grief with fans, urging everyone in the audience to send their prayers to the families of the men killed, who she lovingly nicknamed, "The Two Charlies".
Halting her set halfway through the gig, a teary-eyed Madonna told the crowd, "Before I continue the show I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge and pay tribute to two people who lost their lives today.
"You may have heard of it… When they were building my show in Marseille, where we’re going next - we don’t know why, but one of the cranes fell… Two men lost their lives, it was a great tragedy to me.
"I feel so, so devastated to be in any way associated with anyone suffering. Let’s all just take a moment to say a prayer for The Two Charlies. Our hearts go out to their families and loved ones… We are so blessed and lucky to be alive." Out of the stage workers injured, one is in critical condition, two others are due to undergo surgery, and seven others have been treated and released from hospital, according to Alexandre Lanzalavi, a spokesman for Marseille Hospital.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Rocker TRENT REZNOR is fuming over online threats towards his fiancee MARIQUEEN MAANDIG, branding the perpetrators "cowards".
The Nine Inch Nails frontman is furious after an internet campaign of abuse targeted the West Indian Girl frontwoman - and has vowed to physically attack those responsible if he ever meets them.
He tells rock magazine Kerrang!, "That kind of thing is particularly cowardly because it’s done online and that offers complete anonymity. If someone on the street were to insult my fiancee I would punch them right in their f**king face or their fat t*ts or whatever the f**k it may be.
"But hiding in your mum’s basement… and saying the kind of things that some of these people have been saying online is not something that happens in the real world. It only happens because these people don’t have to show their face or give their name, and that does get under my skin. American rockers MACHINE HEAD have pulled out of the U.K.’s Sonisphere festival in anger after they were relegated down the line-up to make way for LIMP BIZKIT.
The band was due to play at the event in Knebworth, south-east England next month (Aug09) but quit because they felt "disrespected" by the change in running order.
And they are adamant they will not reverse their decision - even after promoters offered to move them to another stage and avoid a clash with the recently reunited Limp Bizkit.
In a statement, the Machine Head members say, "Seeing as the running order was a significant part of the negotiation and agreement between between us and the promoter, and the fact that we had been advertised in that slot since the festival’s announcement, you can imagine our surprise when we were ‘told’ that we would now be playing in the fourth slot, under Limp Bizkit. It was actually expected that we would quietly move down the bill without issue. We will not.
"In an effort to make this situation in Knebworth work, we have spent more than a week striving to resolve this issue in a proper manner. Unfortunately, that did not happen and (we) have been left with no choice but to cancel our appearance rather than stand for the disrespect and indignity offered by a promoter who won’t honour our agreement." A spokesman for organisers Killimanjaro says, "Our main priority is to give the fans a great weekend full of awesome bands and it was only recently that Limp Bizkit became available. In the process, Machine Head have been upset, and despite our best efforts, they have made the decision to cancel their appearance."

R&B star NE-YO sparked fears for his health when he halted a performance halfway through after breaking down in tears.
The Grammy winner was at the MEN Arena in Manchester, England on Thursday (16Jul09) when he struggled to sing several songs and announced the gig would have to be postponed.
He appeared on stage late and looking sweaty before announcing early on in the show that he wasn’t feeling very well.
The singer then headed backstage 30 minutes in to the gig for a long break before returning in tears to end the concert.
BBC Manchester presenter Karen Gabay, who was at the venue, said, "He kept asking the audience to bear with him. Then he actually was crying. I thought it was because he had done a couple of Michael Jackson tributes and he was getting a little bit overcome, but it did seem a bit strange. He was very emotional.
"Then he did a slow song, he was really struggling to move, he was absolutely pouring with sweat, and he went over to a table. He was actually hanging on for dear life and he looked as if he was about to drop then. He looked so ill." The star halted the performance - and was in floods of tears when he returned to the stage to apologise to the crowd.
Gabay added: "He absolutely couldn’t hold tears back - the crowd were applauding him and he couldn’t bring himself to speak. Then he said he’d never had to do this before - he’d never not been able to finish a show - he said it though tears, it was unbelievable. He looked like he had a really bad fever. Then he went off stage crying." Earlier this month (Jul09) Ne-Yo was slammed by nightclub bosses in Norwich, England after performing just one and a half songs out of the five he had agreed to do.

GERARD BUTLER is having trouble living up to his role as a Spartan king in hit action movie 300 - because he feels like less of a man every time he steps out with his "tiny" pet pug.
The Scot had women lusting around the world after his performance as warrior King Leonidas hit the big screen in 2007.
Now Butler admits he’s having trouble living up to his admirers’ expectations as he becomes more famous - because he’s fallen out of shape and feels emasculated by his little Lolita.
He muses, "I got the dog before 300 - big mistake. I love my dog but she was tiny and I didn’t realise when she grew up she was still going to be tiny… Suddenly it became another kettle of fish. I’m walking around with my little pug and no matter what you do now - and it’s the same with the body - it’s, ‘There’s the guy from 300! Supermodel KAROLINA KURKOVA is expecting a baby boy with fiance ARCHIE DRURY when she gives birth in October (09), according to U.S. reports.
The Czech-born Victoria’s Secret catwalk beauty and the film producer - who have been together just over a year - announced on Tuesday (14Jul09) they would both be first-time parents.

MARK RONSON is determined to re-team with AMY WINEHOUSE now she’s back in the U.K. - after a planned collaboration fell through because of her extended stay in St. Lucia.
The superproducer was at the mixing deck for Winehouse’s 2006 global smash Back to Black and the pop star returned the favour the following year (07) by singing Valerie for Ronson’s covers album Version.
The pair was approached to compose a Bond theme for Quantum Of Solace last summer (08), but White Stripes rocker Jack White and Alicia Keys eventually landed the song.
Ronson was due to return to the studio earlier this year (09) with his muse to record a new version of Lesley Gore’s You Don’t Own Me for an upcoming album in honour of music industry legend Quincy Jones, but that was plan was dropped as Winehouse was battling her drink and drug addictions in the Caribbean.
The Rehab singer returned to her native London on Monday (13Jul09) after the eight-month break - and Ronson is eager to get her back in the studio.
He tells The London Paper, �I heard Amy was back in town, but I haven�t spoken to her yet. I�m working on a new record now, but I would love to work with Amy again.
�I would definitely like to hear what Amy�s been working on - she�s an amazing artist, so I would be interested in anything she does.�

ORLANDO BLOOM has brushed off his recent $500,000 (£333,330) loss, insisting the jewellery heist at his Los Angeles home doesn’t compare to the world’s worries.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star’s Hollywood Hills mansion was raided on Wednesday evening (15Jul09) while he was in New York, and burglars fled with valuables belonging to Bloom.
The actor returned to L.A. on Thursday (16Jul09) following the news - but he’s adamant the raid is insignificant in the current economic climate.
He tells TMZ.com, "Nobody died. We could have lost a lot more stuff in the world, there wasn’t that much. People are suffering a lot more at the moment. People lose their homes!" No arrests have yet been made in relation to the case.

EMMA WATSON has backtracked on her comments suggesting she hated locking lips with co-star RUPERT GRINT in the new HARRY POTTER movie - by branding the young actor a "very good kisser".
The British actress has repeatedly told interviewers how she had dreaded her smooching scene with Grint in the latest wizard instalment, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

MICHAEL JACKSON was so desperate for drugs he once tried to bribe a doctor into handing them over.
The King of Pop would call on Dr Eugene Aksenoff, medical director of the International Clinic in Tokyo, for prescriptions when he visited Japan with his children.
Russian-born Aksenoff says Jackson once begged for a strong stimulant during a trip in March 2007 - but he was so concerned he refused to hand it over, telling the star taking it would be "suicide".
Jackson then offered him a bribe - but Dr Aksenoff declined.
And the doctor is adamant the Thriller star was so hooked on painkillers he couldn’t stand sunlight and suffered chronic fatigue and insomnia.
He says, "This weakened his immune system. His skin could not breathe well and he developed an allergy to sunlight."

MICHAEL JACKSON spent his life wracked with emotional pain - because he was convinced the whole world hated him.
The King of Pop’s brother Tito insists the star suffered daily agony over his status in modern culture, and it bothered him far more than any physical pain.
He was even certain the media viewed him as less important than The Beatles and Elvis Presley - despite his global fame.
Tito tells the U.K.’s Daily Mirror, "I feel Michael is free from all the evil he had to encounter because he did not deserve what people did to him.
"That was Michael’s pain, it was more than just a back pain or him burning his hair. It was the pain of him giving his whole heart, his whole creative self, trying to help people, giving good music. And he just could not understand why people were trying to beat him up for no reason at all.
"Michael always wanted people to think he was the greatest. I knew that, millions and millions of people knew that, but the media would never say it. They would never give him his due, even though he he had all the records to prove it.
"They kept him below the megastardom reserved for Elvis and The Beatles. They would never put his name next to them. That’s all he wanted when he was living."

LEONARDO DiCAPRIO’s legal battle with his neighbours over a basketball court at his Los Angeles home has been dismissed.
The Titanic star was sued by his neighbours in 2007 after they alleged their Hollywood Hills property was illegally excavated and some plants were removed so the actor could have a court built at his rented home in 2004.
A number of construction firms were also targeted in the lawsuit.
Lawyers for DiCaprio and the couple have been trying to resolve the case for months, and it was finally settled last week (beg06Jul09).
The terms of the settlement have not been made public.

DANIEL RADCLIFFE is eyeing up his first post-HARRY POTTER movie role - he is set to play a celebrated photojournalist who was killed in Somalia.
The 19 year old wraps shooting on the boy wizard franchise next year (10) and is already looking to his future career.
And he’s determined to take a part close to his heart - playing British journalist Dan Eldon, who was battered to death in 1993.
Radcliffe says, "I have a few projects on the boil, but the one that I am really interested in is based on the real-life story of a photojournalist, Dan Eldon, who was only 22 when he was killed by an angry mob in Somalia in 1993.
"He was a really heroic guy and we are just waiting for the green light on that one. It all depends on the funding."
