Soccer star David and his singer-turned-fashion-designer wife share three boys - Brooklyn, 10, Romeo, six, and Cruz, four - and have been close friends with the Top Gun star and his actress wife Katie Holmes since they met in 2003.
The sports ace - who resided in Spain from 2003 to 2007 when he played for soccer club Real Madrid - tells The Beckham Experiment author Grant Wahl how he conjured up his youngest son’s trendy moniker.
He tells Wahl, "I must admit, when (Victoria and I) met Tom, I remember turning around to Victoria and saying, ‘Cruise is a great name, but we could spell it different.’ And also, living in Spain, Cruz is spelled the way it is in Spanish. So that’s why we got it."

QUEEN LATIFAH has to fight for the spotlight when she takes her mother to high profile events - after nearly missing a chance to meet U.S. President BARACK OBAMA.
The actress/rapper is often accompanied by her mum Rita on red carpets and A-list events - and she finds V.I.P.s are always more interested in meeting the matriarch of the family.
After a recent Washington D.C. meeting with Obama, she says, "We participated in this big event they had at the capital and afterwards they had a nice meet-and-greet where he was able to say hi to everyone. It was so many people (sic) and I finally got to the front of the line… and I was like, ‘Mr. President, this is my mother.’ And he was like, ‘That’s your mum? Come here!’ and he was so warm. MICHAEL JACKSON was conned into spending thousands of dollars on plastic surgery, according to close family friend MARK LESTER.
Jackson only confessed to having gone under the knife twice, but experts insist he had multiple cosmetic surgeries and a host of other procedures.
The former Oliver! actor, who is godfather to Jackson’s children, insists the pair never discussed the star’s surgery - but he’s convinced his pal was tricked into undergoing expensive procedures by practitioners who were after the Thriller singer’s cash.
Lester recalls preventing the star from spending thousands on his youngest son, Prince Michael ‘Blanket’ II’s, dental treatment - when he only needed a small filling.
He says, "I do believe Michael was conned into a lot of it. I remember, a few years ago, when Blanket needed a tooth filling. The nanny Grace took him to the dentist and the practitioner advised that he needed $40,000 worth of work. I spoke to Grace and told her to get a second opinion and take him to a dentist under a false name. She did - and all he needed was a $200 filling."

Fans of MICHAEL JACKSON are beginning to look towards Gary, Indiana for the location of the King of Pop’s final resting place, following news the late star’s hometown will honour him with a stadium memorial on Friday (10Jul09).
Gary Mayor Rudy Clay and city officials have announced plans to stage a special free tribute to their native son at the U.S. Steelyard Stadium.
And the lockdown on information about the event and city officials’ refusal to return media requests for more details has led many to think Jackson’s remains are going home.
The King of Pop’s casket has been housed in a top secret location since his memorial in Los Angeles on Tuesday (07Jul09), when it was displayed for all to see at the Staples Center. Reports suggest his family is awaiting the return of Jackson’s brain, which was removed for tests during his autopsy, before planning the singer’s burial.
The Jacksons filed for a Los Angeles County burial permit on Wednesday (08Jul09) - seemingly ruling out the possibility the pop superstar will be laid to rest at his former Santa Barbara County home, Neverland Ranch.
Gary Mayor Clay will join fans at the Indiana memorial on Friday. His representatives are refusing to confirm or deny Jackson’s remains will be at the tribute.
Clay has publicly asked the Jackson family to consider burying or cremating the pop star in his birthplace.
In the days following Jackson’s death on 25 June (09), Mayor Clay said he expected Jackson’s body would be taken to Gary for a memorial service at Steelyard Stadium.
He said, "I believe that his body will lie in state in Gary, Indiana." Clay’s spokeswoman Lalola Burns, who has refused to return countless calls from WENN, has said, "The Mayor had spoken with a contact of the Jackson family and expressed our interest in having that to be a part of the history of this great family (sic)." Jackson’s father, Joe, returned to Gary in 2008 to discuss plans for a Jackson museum with the Mayor, and two of the late star’s brothers visited Clay in May (09).

MICHAEL JACKSON spent his last Christmas with CARRIE FISHER after inviting the STAR WARS actress over to his Los Angeles home as a surprise for his three children.
The Thriller hitmaker’s kids - Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and seven-year-old Prince Michael II - are big fans of the sci-fi film franchise and Jackson decided to treat them to a special visit from Princess Leia herself.
Jackson’s pal Stephen Price, an associate of the singer’s dermatologist Dr. Arnold Klein, tells Us Weekly magazine, "Michael introduced her as Princess Leia and they (kids) were so excited!" Price fears the King of Pop’s children will struggle to come to terms with their huge loss.
He adds, "Michael was incredibly patient… and devoted… I think his death is going to be very tough for them. It’s going to be a whole new life."

MICHAEL JACKSON’s dermatologist has fuelled speculation he’s the biological father of the King of Pop’s two eldest kids after confessing he once donated to a sperm bank.
Skin expert Dr. Arnold Klein has dismissed rumours he impregnated the late pop star’s ex-wife Debbie Rowe - kids Paris and Prince Michael’s mum - but left many cynics with huge questions by adding, "I think to the best of my knowledge I am not the father." And, during a chat with CNN newsman Larry King on Wednesday night (08Jul09), Dr. Klein only added to the mystery, revealing he "once donated sperm" to a sperm bank, but he refused to elaborate, stating, "It’s no one’s business." Dr. Klein used the candid Larry King Live chat to clear up reports Jackson and his ex were never intimate.
He added, "I think they did have sex. Yes, I really do."

In the commercial, two fans are upgraded to courtside seats alongside Longoria at a basketball game involving her husband Tony Parker’s team the San Antonio Spurs.

HARRY POTTER star EMMA WATSON is preparing to move to the U.S. - the actress has confirmed she’s heading Stateside to further her education at an American university this autumn (09).

Watson admits she can’t make up her mind about what she’d like to study.

MICHAEL JACKSON’s youngest son, PRINCE MICHAEL ‘BLANKET’ II, could be the next KING OF POP - according to the star’s best friend MARK LESTER.
Former child star Lester, who is godfather to Jackson’s children, claims the superstar’s offspring loved all of his songs, and hails his youngest child as the "next Michael Jackson" after picking up his dad’s famous moonwalk dance.
He says, "Our children would often sit together and watch Michael’s videos - Prince loved Thriller, Paris liked Smooth Criminal best and Blanket adored them all. He could easily be the next Michael Jackson. He loved to dance with his dad and Michael taught him to do the moonwalk."

ELVIS PRESLEY’s daughter LISA MARIE has dismissed reports she ignored a voicemail from her ex-husband MICHAEL JACKSON in which he made a desperate plea for help.
The Thriller superstar, who divorced Lisa Marie Presley in 1996 after two years of marriage, died after suffering a cardiac arrest on 25 June (09). His cause of death has yet to be determined, but rumours have swirled about his alleged addiction to prescription painkillers possibly contributing to his untimely demise.
Us Weekly magazine claims Jackson reached out to his first wife Presley one year ago, after fearing he was losing control of his life.
The rock offspring reportedly turned her back on Jackson and refused to return the distraught call - and now the tabloid claims she’s wracked with guilt over her decision.
A source tells the tabloid, "He said he needed her help because his life was spinning out of control and begged her to call him. But she never did.
"She kept saying, ‘I should’ve done something’, and blames herself, which is completely unreasonable of course." However, a representative for Presley has poured doubt on the report, saying: "I don’t believe this is true." Presley took to her online blog after Jackson’s death and revealed he had had a premonition he would die young, just like her father did.
She wrote, "He knew: Years ago Michael and I were having a deep conversation about life in general. I can’t recall the exact subject matter but he may have been questioning me about the circumstances of my father’s death… At some point he paused, he stared at me very intensely and he stated with an almost calm certainty, ‘I am afraid that I am going to end up like him, the way he did.’ …14 years later I am sitting here watching on the news as an ambulance leaves the driveway of his home."

Rapper LIL’ KIM has brushed off allegations she clashed with former love rival FAITH EVANS during mutual pal SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS’ Independence Day celebrations last weekend (04Jul09).
The two women became sworn enemies in the 1990s when they both became romantically involved with Notorious B.I.G.
The late rap icon wed Evans and went on to have a child with her, while Kim became his mistress.

Singer/actress HILARY DUFF is continuing her efforts to be a role model for kids around the world - the American star has been named a youth ambassador in the Colombian capital of Bogota.
The 21-year-old budding philanthropist will be a guest of honour in the city next month (Aug09) when she’ll receive the accolade from Mayor Samuel Moreno.
Duff’s five-day trip will include visits to schools where she will give out backpacks filled with food through non-profit organisation Blessing for Backpacks.

PRISON BREAK star WENTWORTH MILLER is swapping his jail cell for a police precinct - he’s to play a cop on an upcoming episode of LAW & ORDER: SVU.
Miller shot to fame as convict Michael Scofield on Prison Break, but now the hit TV series has ended, he’s switching sides to become part of law enforcement on the police drama.
And his Law & Order: SVU co-star, actor/rapper Ice-T, is excited about Miller’s cameo.

LUCY LIU has blasted rumours she is about to reunite with her former ALLY MCBEAL co-stars to film a big screen version of the hit TV show - because she’s too old.
The Charlie’s Angels actress shot to fame as Ling Woo in the television series in 1998 before the show ended in 2002 after five seasons.
But she denies suggestions she is about to resurrect her feisty character for a movie based on the show, insisting it won’t work on the big screen.
The Kill Bill star is also adamant she is too old to return to the role, along with the rest of the cast including Calista Flockhart and Jane Krakowski.
Liu says, "It was something you had in your living room at your home - you watch it in your pyjamas eating takeaway food, not in the cinema. I don’t know if anyone would buy a ticket - people would be like: ‘Oh my gosh! These people are old."

A homeless man actor STEPHEN BALDWIN allowed to live on his New York property has been arrested on charges of heroin possession.
Baldwin reportedly opened his doors to 51-year-old Jimmy Parks, who moved from a tent in the woods to a cottage feet away from the star’s home in New York suburb Rockland County.
Authorities suspected the man was dealing drugs and raided the cottage on Wednesday (08Jul09). Baldwin was present during the arrest.
According to police, the actor and self-proclaimed born-again Christian, was cooperative and apologetic, insisting he was simply trying to help the man rebuild his life.
A spokesperson for the star had no comment as WENN went to press.

Lawyers representing exiled moviemaker ROMAN POLANSKI have asked a California appeals court to reconsider throwing out a 32-year-old child sex case against their client.
In May (09), Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Peter Espinoza rejected a request by Polanski’s attorneys to dismiss the criminal case, based on allegations of unethical and improper acts by a judge and prosecutor at the time of the director’s original charges in 1977.
But the lawyers are refusing to give up and now insist Espinoza was wrong, adding the actions of the same court and past prosecution officials forced Polanski to flee to Europe and escape illegal imprisonment.
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office maintains Espinoza’s ruling was correct, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The prosecutors and the judge state they’ll only consider a dismissal if the 75-year-old director appears in court to make his case - but Polanski risks arrest as soon as he sets foot on U.S. soil.
The moviemaker has made it clear through his lawyers that he has no intention of returning to America.
Polanski pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl as part of a deal with prosecutors, in which they agreed not to pursue rape, sodomy and other charges.
The case was revived last year (08) when Polanski’s attorneys filed motions to get the case dismissed based on interviews in an HBO TV documentary.
In the film, the original prosecutor and defence attorney said the trial judge, Laurence Rittenband, reneged on a sentencing agreement with Polanski after the director spent 42 days behind bars for a "diagnostic study".
