U.S. comedian JAY LENO has won the right to take control of a website bearing the name of his new talk show.
The former The Tonight Show presenter was stunned to discover TheJayLenoShow.com was already taken and called in the United Nations’ World Intellectual Property Organization to investigate.
The domain name was registered in 2004 by Texas resident Guadalupe Zambrano, who used the page to direct visitors to his own real estate website.
But officials at the United Nations body have ruled Zambrano had no legitimate reason for setting up the web address and have ordered him to transfer ownership to Leno.
The funnyman’s new programme is due to be launched in September (09). He stepped down from The Tonight Show in May (09) and was replaced by Conan O’Brien.

THE DUCHESS director SAUL DIBB has brushed off reports he’s heading Down Under to take charge of upcoming period drama SPIDER DANCE.
The moviemaker was alleged to have signed on to the new film, about an American woman’s Australian adventures, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
But Dibb’s agents have dismissed the news, telling MovieHole.net the industry publication "got it wrong" and he is not attached to the project at all.

Wrestler-turned-actor ‘ROWDY’ RODDY PIPER has been arrested in Hollywood on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).
The semi-retired grappler, real name Roderick Toombs, was pulled over by police in the early hours of Thursday (02Jul09) and taken into custody after failing a field sobriety test.
He is currently being held behind bars on $5,000 (£3,330) bail, reports TMZ.com.

MARIAH CAREY’s husband NICK CANNON denies the superstar has taken a swipe at EMINEM in her latest music video by dressing as the rapper - insisting she wouldn’t waste her time.
Carey trades in her usual glamorous look to dress as a thuggish man in the promo for new single Obsessed - in which her male persona has a striking resemblance to the Stan hitmaker.
Internet gossips presumed the Hero singer used the video to hit back at Eminem after he boasted of bedding the star in his track Bagpipes from Baghdad.
But Carey’s partner, actor/rapper Cannon, is adamant she wasn’t planning to take aim at the controversial hip-hop star with her cross-dressing video.
He tells MTV.com, "Honestly, I don’t think so. I don’t think that she would take her time. My wife doesn’t beef. She’s Mariah Carey. She’s not beefin’, she’s a vegetarian.
"I always say I thought the record was about me, ’cause I’m obsessed with my wife. But if somebody’s out there and you feel like you might have been obsessed, then the record’s about you."

MICHAEL JACKSON tried to end the long-running feud between arch enemies 50 CENT and THE GAME.
Rapper The Game, real name Jayceon Taylor, was kicked out of the In Da Club hitmaker’s G-Unit crew in 2005, resulting in a bitter rivalry between the pair.
When the late King of Pop heard about the two former friends’ conflict, he phoned Taylor to offer his services as peacemaker.
The rapper says, "I was on tour in Canada, sitting in my room, cutting my hair. I was messing my hair up. Then my road manager knocks on my door. Boom, boom, boom. He told me, ‘I got MJ on the phone.’ I ran and snatched up the phone.
"He got to this one thing that makes me laugh, man. He said, ‘I don’t know how you’re gonna feel about this, but I want to ask you something. I don’t want you to judge me, but I don’t really know everything that’s going on between you and 50. But I want to be the middleman behind you putting this situation to bed.’" Jackson also offered to help heal the rift by recording a song with both hip-hop stars - but died before the proposed collaboration could take place.

MICHAEL JACKSON’s grieving family will hold a public memorial at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Tuesday (08Jul09) to celebrate the tragic star’s life, according to U.S. reports.
Initial rumours suggested the family were planning a public viewing of the King of Pop’s body at his former Neverland Ranch so the singer’s legion of devastated fans could say a final goodbye to their idol.
However, the Jackson clan denied the reports, insisting they have no intention of putting the star’s remains on show at home in Santa Barbara, California.
Instead, relatives and Jackson’s advisors have decided to hold a public memorial at the 20,000 capacity Staples Center venue - where the Thriller legend was rehearsing his comeback show a day before his death, reports RadarOnline.com.
The Jackson family will reportedly announce the service on Thursday (02Jul09).

MICHAEL JACKSON had a secret long-term girlfriend he kept hidden from the world, according to the star’s bodyguard.
Matt Fiddes, the Thriller legend’s former head of security, insists only close members of the Jackson family were aware of the romance, which was still ongoing at the time of the singer’s death.
Martial arts expert Fiddes, who met the King of Pop ten years ago and became one of his most trusted aides, is refusing to name the mystery woman.
Jackson was married to Lisa Marie Presley for two years from 1994, and wed Debbie Rowe in 1996. Since their divorce in 1999, Jackson kept his love life a closely guarded secret and fans were unaware he was ever dating.
Fiddes tells Sky News, "I’m not going to name who she is but I think the family were aware that there was someone special in his life who he loved and adored and had his ups and downs with.
"I don’t know how long they’ve been a couple. I know she’s been with him for some time in different capacities but… it’s up to her if she wants it to come out or the family to speak about this very private information." Fiddes is also adamant doctors are to blame for Jackson’s death, adding: "As far as I’m concerned they have Michael’s blood on their hands. They know what they’ve done and there’s people out there who could have helped, could have stepped in, but didn’t for financial reasons.
"We went to great efforts to keep the doctors away. But as soon as we said anything and it gets back to Michael, Michael would have a screaming fit that we were interfering with his private life, that he knew what he was doing. He was in denial."

Singer PAULA ABDUL is to make her acting debut in upcoming U.S. television drama DROP DEAD DIVA.
The American Idol judge will star in the show about a blonde model who dies in a car crash and whose soul returns to Earth in another body.
Abdul will have a cameo role as a court judge in the opening season, which begins its run later this month (Jul09).
She says, "I am very excited to guest star on Drop Dead Diva. All of the people are extremely talented and itâ��s a charming, wonderfully written new show.â�� Other guest stars on the series include Liza Minnelli and Rosie O’Donnell.

MICHAEL JACKSON suffered an adverse reaction to prescription drugs just four days before his death, according to his nutritionist CHERILYN LEE.
The nurse was in Florida on Sunday 21 June (09) when one of Jackson’s aides phoned her in a panic and begged her for help.
She alleges the staff member in Los Angeles urged her to attend the Thriller star’s rented home in Holmby Hills as he had fallen ill - and she insists his symptoms indicated he had suffered a reaction to a drug that affected his heart or central nervous system.
Lee says, "I could hear Michael in the background and he said, ‘Tell her one side of my body is hot and one side is cold. Very cold.’ I said, ‘Tell him he needs to go to the hospital. I don’t know what is going on with him right now but I’m in Florida and I cannot come.’ "I told him I wasn’t comfortable with it and to please go to the hospital and check that out right away. I said it was maybe his heart - maybe his central nervous system. I knew someone had given him something that hit the central nervous system. Because he just wanted to sleep. He was in trouble that Sunday."

Cops investigating MICHAEL JACKSON’s death have called in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in a desperate bid to track down the tragic star’s former doctors.
Los Angeles police are currently trying to get to the bottom of the star’s demise, amid swirling reports Jackson’s fatal cardiac arrest last week (25Jun09) was down to a prolonged addiction to prescription drugs.
According to TMZ.com, the singer’s need for pills was so intense he used a string of aliases in order to con physicians into signing medication over to him.
The website adds Jackson used the names of his bodyguards and other acquaintances to get a litany of prescriptions.
And due to the huge media and public interest in the underlying cause of the Thriller star’s death, police officials investigating his passing have brought in the DEA to help with the case.
The federal agency will reportedly interview Jackson’s string of doctors to try to discover how he was able to get hold of drugs including Demerol - an anaesthetic similar to morphine.
A spokesperson for the DEA says, "We routinely offer assistance to any agency regarding the Federal Controlled Substance act. However at this time we have nothing further to comment about the death of Michael Jackson."

LIEV SCHREIBER and his partner NAOMI WATTS keep their relationship fresh by making "catty" comments about other stars’ acting abilities .
The X-Men actor has been dating Watts since 2005 and the pair has two sons - 23 month old Alexander ‘Sasha’ and six-month-old Samuel.
Schreiber is thankful the King Kong star shares his passion for acting, because it gives them so much to talk about - and they love to criticise other people’s work.

The superstar and fashion designer mum Tina have announced plans to release a new junior apparel label, taking influence from costumes used on Beyonce’s on-going I Am… tour.
The Sasha Fierce for Dereon collection includes a full range of sportswear, outerwear, handbags, footwear, eyewear, lingerie and jewellery and will be an addition to the Dereon junior label - Tina Knowles own line - which has been picked up by a string of department stores across the U.S.
Tina tells Women’s Wear Daily, "When the tour started, we noticed the definite style of it. Thierry Mugler designed the clothes for the tour, but we really wanted to celebrate the style and interpret that into a collection.â�� The range is scheduled to hit stores this autumn (09).

Singer JEWEL is refusing to schedule any work commitments - because she is determined to fall pregnant by the end of the year (09).
The star and her rodeo champ husband Ty Murray confirmed in April (09) they are trying to start a family.
They are still working on their plans to become parents, and Jewel is now turning down work because she hopes to get pregnant very soon.
The singer and her partner both signed up to U.S. talent show Dancing With The Stars this year (09) but Jewel had to drop out after fracturing the tibia in both her legs. She has now refused the chance to compete in the next season which is due to start in the autumn (09) - because of her baby plans.
She tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, "I really want to start a family. My husband and I would love to see that happen soon.
"I’d have to say no to doing next season’s Dancing With The Stars because hopefully I’ll be pregnant by then!"

KATY PERRY has denied threatening her Australian namesake with legal action over a clothing range - after the fashion designer accused the star’s management of bullying her into giving up her trademark.
Perry’s attorneys targeted Katie Perry, also known as Katie Howell, who runs a self-titled loungewear company in her native Australia after the singer’s team attempted to file a trademark protection order in the country.
The clothing-maker claimed she had received a letter form Perry’s lawyers ordering her to cease trading and withdraw her right to use the name Katie Perry on all her goods - and she vowed to contest the demands in court.
She said, "It really felt like I was being intimidated and bullied into signing everything away. (The letter) asked me to give up the trademark, withdraw sale of my clothes, withdraw any advertising and any websites, and sign that I will not in the future use a similar trademark to Katy Perry. I pretty much burst into tears. love my business. I’m not going to give it away without a fight either." She also issued an emotional plea to Perry in an Internet video - urging the star not to destroy her company.
The I Kissed A Girl hitmaker has now acknowledged the row in a post on her website - but insists she never planned to take legal action over the issue and accuses the press of blowing the issue out of proportion.
A statement on the star’s official website reads, "In the course of securing trademark protection for Katy Perry in Australia, it came to the attention of her representatives that Katie Howell, a clothing designer in Australia, had filed an application for trademark protection under a similar name in connection with her own clothing design business. A routine notice letter was sent to Ms. Howell, as is customary in trademark practice, alerting her of Ms. Perryâ��s intended application." Perry herself adds, "This is a routine trademark application, and I certainly havenâ��t sued anyone. As usual, some of the press seems to have delighted in creating a story where there is none."

R. KELLY has slammed a report his home was searched as part of a police hunt for a missing 17-year-old girl.
The National Enquirer alleges the R&B singer’s house in Chicago was raided by police earlier this year (09) in a hunt for the missing teen.
But his management have fiercely denied the report, blasting it as "completely false" and insisting cops did not search his property.
Representative Allan Mayer says, "A wildly exaggerated and inaccurate report has been circulating on the Internet that Olympia Fields police showed up at R. Kelly’s house with a search warrant just before the singer left for his three-week concert tour in Africa last month and then searched the place looking for a missing 17-year-old girl.
"This is completely false. No police ever showed up at Kelly’s house with a search warrant nor was his house ever searched. It is also not true, as the unsubstantiated report claimed, that any such girl ever stayed overnight in Kelly’s house or that she had been there but left shortly before some mythical police search." Authorities confirmed the star was not involved in any investigation and the girl has since been found.
The bogus claims come a year after Kelly was acquitted on 14 charges of videotaping himself having sex with an underage girl.

HEROES star HAYDEN PANETTIERE isn’t fazed by the misspelt tattoo on her back - because she doesn’t have to look at it.
The 19 year old has the saying Vivere senza rimipiantic - meaning live without regret in Italian - etched on her back, but the tattooist made a mistake with the spelling.
But Panettiere isn’t bothered about the incorrect inking, as she can’t even see it.
She says, �It is misspelled, whatever, I just put my own spin to it. Chances are I�ll probably get it fixed, but that�s why I love having it on my back because I don�t get bored of it.
�I don�t have to stare at it all the time, but then you have it on your back and you don�t realise that it�s misspelled either!�

Hong Kong singer/actor ANDY LAU is facing an increased compensation payout to a Taiwanese airline after he wrecked a helicopter in a failed film stunt.
Bosses at flight company Daily Air loaned Lau a chopper in 1997 for his film The Island of Greed.
During shooting, he brushed against the aircraft’s automatic flight control system as he leaped from the helicopter in a high-octane scene, causing it to crash into lighting equipment.
The company sued the star and was awarded $170,000 (£113,000) by a court in 2008. Lau appealed the ruling, but a judge has refused to overturn the decision - and upped the compensation award to $201,000 (£134,000).
