SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS’ boy band DAY26 stunned fans at an Atlanta, Georgia high school, when they showed up to raise awareness about domestic violence against young women.
The group stopped by McNair High School earlier this month (Apr09) to chat to youngsters about the issues facing females in abusive relationships, and how to steer clear of violence as part of the Saving Our Daughters campaign.
Tequilla Whitfield, Artist Program Director/Mentor, says, "They really took their time to explain just how special young women are and I know that the ladies took every word in." Day26 will continue their support for the drive with a number of other discussions in select schools across the U.S.

Hindu scholars are calling on Grammy Awards bosses to add a new category for traditional Indian music at the annual prizegiving.
Officials at the Universal Society of Hinduism are urging Grammy bosses to include kirtan as a field for future awards shows, beginning in 2010.
Hindu statesman and USH leader Rajan Zed says, "In 2009, there were Grammys awarded in 110 music categories, covering 32 fields, including pop, rock, rap, country, new age, gospel, jazz, folk, world music, Hawaiian, Latin, reggae and blues, and we now think Indian music should be included.
"Kirtan is attracting large audiences in USA and Canada, and many other countries of the world, resulting in various new albums and creation of star kirtan artists…. There should be Favorite Kirtan Artist of the Year award at the Grammys.
"The powerful healing and transformational energies of these ancient chants in help to calm and focus the mind… It’s a sacred and spiritual experience that takes one to the state of deep meditation."

Oscar winner MARLEE MATLIN is to be honoured with the 2,383rd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
A deaf interpreter will be on hand to sign for deaf fans in attendance when the star is unveiled on 6 May (09).
It will be a day of double celebrations for the deaf Children of A Lesser God star - she’ll also be presented with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Community Foundation’s Mary Pickford Award at its 16th Annual Women of Distinction fundraising luncheon.

Rocker BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and his bandmate wife PATTI SCIALFA put their love on display during a duet onstage at a benefit in New York on Monday night (27Apr09) by sharing a rare kiss.
The couple is known for keeping its relationship purely professional onstage, but, following recent allegations Springsteen cheated on his wife with a member of his New Jersey gym, the pair showed a united front at a gala to honour Tom Hanks.
Just days after Scialfa missed a concert after falling from a horse, and weeks after Springsteen was named in divorce proceedings by a husband who claims the singer slept with his wife, the couple kissed before duetting on Streets of Philadelphia, the song Springsteen wrote for Hanks 1993 movie Philadelphia.
As he introduced Scialfa onto the stage, the rocker said, "May I bring out my lovely wife?" before kissing her warmly on the lips.
Springsteen has denied any involvement in the divorce, maintaining his and his wife’s "commitment to one another remains as strong as the day we were married."

Actor RICKY SCHRODER picked up a ticket for chatting on his cellphone as he drove away from a courthouse following a legal victory.
The star won a legal battle with a woman who accused him of stealing tools from her - but his celebration was short lived.
Alice Roberts claimed the 24 star conspired with her ex-boyfriend to take tools worth $7,000 (GBP4,965) from her Malibu, California home.
Schroder and his friend, plumber Brent Black, countersued, accusing Roberts of suing out of revenge, and dragging the actor into the mess unnecessarily.
And a Malibu small claims court found in their favour on Tuesday (28Apr09), reports TMZ.com.
But it wasn’t all good news for Schroder - after leaving the courthouse and celebrating in front of photographers, the actor jumped in his car, drove off and was pulled over by cops for using a cellphone while driving.

CHRIS NOTH will be back as Mr, Big in the SEX & THE CITY: THE MOVIE sequel after coming to terms with producers over his film deal.
Noth recently revealed he was still "in negotiations" with producers to reprise his role, even though filming on the sequel started in March (09).
But his co-star and on-screen partner Sarah Jessica Parker tells E! News the actor will definitely be back to play her husband on the big screen.
The actor has admitted he has big plans for his character when he does reprise his role: "I want him to travel the world. I think he and (Parker’s character) Carrie (Bradshaw) should go to Bali." But Parker insists producers have yet to tell the pair how the plot will unfold.
She says, "I don’t know anything yet."

The swine flu epidemic is wrecking the romance on HEIDI MONTAG and SPENCER PRATT’s Mexican "pre-honeymoon" - because they’re having to wear masks every time they leave their hotel.

Supermodel NAOMI CAMPBELL has dismissed reports she’s retiring from the runway to start a family - insisting she’s not finished with fashion yet.
The 39-year-old recently revealed she dreams of motherhood and one day plans to slow down her career - prompting speculation she wants to retire and settle down with tycoon boyfriend Vladislav Doronin.

Soccer superstar DAVID BECKHAM has signed a deal to launch his own line of menswear with sports brand Adidas.
The sports star has partnered with Undefeated sneaker boutique owner James Bond for the fall-winter men’s line, Originals by Originals.
The line will be an update of classic American sportswear and accessories with footwear, reports Women’s Wear Daily.
However, Beckham, who already has an athletic endorsement relationship with Adidas, has no plans to become the face of the new line.

LL COOL J’s luxury clothing line is folding just one year after its launch following poor sales.
The hip-hop icon teamed up with U.S. department store Sears to stock his signature apparel range last May (08), but the line suffered from the global credit crunch and prices were dramatically slashed in February (09) in a bid to shift items.

HUGH JACKMAN has vowed to travel to swine flu-affected Mexico to premiere his new movie in the country, as soon as officials give him the all clear.
The Mexico City screening of X-Men Origins: Wolverine on Wednesday (29Apr09) was cancelled because of an outbreak of swine flu in the capital.
All tourists are being advised to stay away, and studio bosses refused to risk Jackman’s health by jetting him in.
But the Aussie star has vowed to return as soon as it’s safe to.
He tells Usmagazine.com, "I’m a movie fan, I love movies, but they’re just movies at the end of the day - and there are other things that are way more important, such as people’s safety.
"It’s very tragic what’s going on down there…I’m worried for them.
"The government and local officials closed (the premiere down) because they’re obviously closing theatres.
"As soon as they open it up and as soon as it’s safe for people to go out and see movies again, we’ll go back down there."

Former DANITY KANE singer AUBREY O’DAY has accused former boss SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS of portraying her as a "slut" on his reality TV show MAKING THE BAND.
O’Day landed a role in the band after triumphing in a previous season of Diddy’s talent show - but was booted out last year (08), with the rap mogul blaming her poor attitude for her departure.
But the star - who recently stripped naked for Playboy magazine - accuses the rap mogul of giving her a slutty reputation.
She tells Hip Hop Weekly, "Puff (Diddy) isn’t helping out (her reputation) on the new season of Making the Band either.

Hip-hop star SWIZZ BEATZ has been recruited by Hennessy bosses to record a signature tune for the launch of the cognac manufacturer’s new limited edition drink.
The producer/rapper was chosen to provide the sounds for Hennessy Black by company executives after they noted his love for the alcoholic beverage.
Andy Glaser, senior vice president of Hennessy Business, tells Billboard.com, "Beatz is a long-time fan of the brand and approached us looking for ways we could work together.
"Since this product is all about having fun in the club, he suggested collaborating on a track that would be a hot dance song in the clubs." Beatz will unveil the track When I Step Into The Club at the launch of Hennessy Black at an event in New York on 5 May (09).
And the star is confident the song will be unforgettable: "It all came together so quickly and organically. Everyone that hears this song can’t get the hook out their heads. It’s contagious!"

Rap superstar LIL WAYNE has been forced to delay the release of his experimental rock album yet again - after failing to secure sample clearances.
The Lollipop hitmaker’s Rebirth disc was originally due to hit stores in early April (09), but it was subsequently postponed until May (09).
However, label bosses at Universal Records want to avoid any legal issues and have delayed the disc for another few weeks to allow time to gain the relevant permits.
The album will now drop in the U.S. on 23 June (09), according to Entertainment Weekly.
Lil Wayne is currently being sued for copyright infringement over his songs Mrs. Officer and I Feel Like Dying.

Pop superstar PRINCE has spoken out for the first time about his battle with epilepsy - crediting the seizure disorder with inspiring his eccentric musical persona.
The Purple Rain hitmaker was tortured by fits as a young boy, terrifying his mother and father who struggled to cope with how to care for him.
He tells PBS, "I’ve never spoken about this before but I was born epileptic. I used to have seizures when I was young. My mother and father didn’t know what to do or how to handle it but they did the best they could with what little they had." The pop star began picking up instruments as a means to escape his painful struggle, and credits a divine intervention with helping him get over the illness.
He adds, "Early in my career I tried to compensate by being as flashy as I could and as noisy as I could… My mother told me one day I walked in to her and said, ‘Mom, I’m not going to be sick anymore,’ and she said ‘Why?’ and I said ‘Because an angel told me so.’ Now, I don’t remember saying it, that’s just what she told me."

Former basketball star DENNIS RODMAN has been ordered to pay $225,000 (GBP155,170) for allegedly grabbing a female casino employee while partying in Las Vegas in 2006.
Sara Ure, a former beverage manager at the now defunct Cuba Libre bar in the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, claims Rodman grabbed her and tried to force her to dance with him according to a civil suit filed against him in November 2007.
A lawyer for the 28-year-old says Rodman never responded to the lawsuit, which also claims Ure was embarrassed by the star in front of other employees and patrons when he held her against her will and slapped her backside.
U.S. District Court Judge Robert C. Jones entered a default judgment against Rodman on Monday (27Apr09).
No lawyer for Rodman was cited in the case file.
