MEL GIBSON showed the world his 28-year marriage is over by defiantly stepping onto the red carpet with his Russian lover on Tuesday (28Apr09).
In their first public appearance, the Braveheart star walked hand-in-hand with brunette beauty Oksana Grigorieva at the Los Angeles premiere of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
The pair was spotted smiling and laughing with one another, with Grigorieva leaning in to whisper into Gibson’s ear before they headed into Grauman’s Chinese Theatre holding hands.
Friends of the Lethal Weapon actor had privately hoped he would reconcile with estranged wife Robyn - but his night out with Grigorieva is a clear signal that his marriage is dead.
The star’s spokesperson tells People.com, "Mel has been single for almost three years and it’s nice to see him getting out and enjoying himself." Grigorieva, who is signed to Gibson’s record label Icon, is believed to be the woman the actor was photographed embracing on a Costa Rica beach in March (09) - a month before Robyn filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences".
It later emerged the couple had split a month after Gibson was arrested for drink-driving in 2006.
Robyn is seeking joint physical and legal custody of the couple’s youngest son, Tom, as well as spousal support and legal fees.

MIA FARROW has appealed to her fellow Americans to put pressure on U.S. President BARACK OBAMA to help end the suffering of Sudan’s refugees.
The actress is currently on a hunger strike to raise awareness of the plight of those starving in the war-ravaged region of Darfur.
And she’s pleading with Obama to support her ongoing quest to bring stability to Sudan.
Farrow writes on her website, "On Day 100 (29Apr09) of Obama’s administration please contact President Obama. He and his administration must do more for Darfur’s people.
"Tell President Obama and your elected officials to: 1. Make a concerted effort to get the needed amount of aid back into Darfur for the displaced civilians. 2. Complete the Sudan policy review in order to move forward with a comprehensive and coherent policy on Darfur. 3. Ensure that Special Envoy Gration has the support he needs from the State Department. 4. Bolster UNAMID in all ways possible. 5. Bring other key players in the international community into the foreground, especially Europe (including Russia), in order to further discussions about a no-fly zone, increased sanctions, and enforcing the arms embargo."

SARAH JESSICA PARKER can’t wait to welcome her new baby twins into the world - because husband MATTHEW BRODERICK is such a fanstastic father.

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY has penned an open letter to PAMELA ANDERSON, asking the BAYWATCH star to help promote vegetarianism.
The Beatles legend, who is a staunch animal-rights activist, has appealed to the actress to lend her name to the cause, after the pair both became involved in a campaign to help the plight of seals.
Anderson wrote a personal plea to Russian leader Vladimir Putin to ask the politician to help her ban the slaughter of baby seals in her native Canada, while McCartney called on the European Parliament to implement a ban on the sale of all seal products And the veteran singer is determined to get Anderson’s support in his bid to turn more people to vegetarianism.
He’s penned a two-page letter detailing how bad meat-eating is for the environment - and is hoping vegetarian Anderson will help him promote the cause.
McCartney writes, "Dear Pamela. We are sending this letter because both of us share a concern for our planet’s welfare and hope you will find the following information of interest. The Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) stated that ‘changes in lifestyle and behaviour patterns can contribute to climate change mitigation across all sectors.’ "A significant reduction in emissions can be brought about through changes in diet. The single most effective act is to become vegetarian or reduce meat consumptoin.
"Unfortunately, with higher incomes, societies are turning to greater consumption of animal protein, which reduces the availability of food grains for direct consumption by impoverished human beings.
"We are, therefore, writing this letter not because vegetarianism is a fad or an emotional issue but because it is a very attractive option for reducing emissions of greenhouse gases and stabilising the earth’s climate and ensuring food security."

The two people accused of attempting to extort millions of dollars from JOHN TRAVOLTA in the wake of his son’s death have pleaded not guilty in court.
Pleasant Bridgewater and ambulance driver Tarino Lightbourne were alleged to have been involved in a $25 million (£17.2 million) plot to bribe Travolta and his grieving wife Kelly Preston in the hours after their teenage son Jett died.
Lightbourne allegedly conspired with former Bahamas senator Bridgewater to release a document containing information about the teenager’s January (09) death.
Bridgewater was charged with abatement to extort and emergency medical technician Lightbourne was charged with attempted extortion.
They both pleaded not guilty to the charges at the arraignment in a Bahamian court on Tuesday (28Apr09).
Both were released on $50,000 (£34,480) bail and are due back in court on 21 September (09).
Travolta is set to testify in the case.
Jett Travolta died aged 16 at the start of January (09) after suffering a seizure while on a family vacation in the Bahamas.

Irish boyband BOYZONE’s forthcoming tour is in doubt - after singer KEITH DUFFY was rushed to hospital for an emergency operation following a charity run.
Duffy, along with bandmate Ronan Keating, took part in a gruelling 26.2-mile (42-kilometre) marathon in London on Sunday (26Apr09) - but collapsed shortly after crossing the finishing line.
He needed immediate medical attention and underwent an emergency double hernia procedure on Monday (27Apr09).
The star is currently recovering from the operation - meaning the band’s U.K. and Ireland tour, which kicks off next month (May09), could be in jeopardy.
Duffy tells Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper, "There’d be no way I could do this tour if I didn’t have the operation. I’ll just have to wait and see how it goes." But his loyal bandmates won’t go onstage without him - even if it means rescheduling the gigs.
Keating says, "We wouldn’t tour without him… we’ll work something out." And bandmate Mikey Graham adds, "No one is quite sure how long the healing process will be. It leaves us in an unfortunate position because after a hernia operation you can’t do too much jumping around." The Irish pop act split in 2000 after selling more than 20 million records but has now reformed and is currently working on a new album.

The former manager of rap duo CLIPSE has turned himself in to police, after he was accused of running a $10 million (£6.9 million)-a-year drug cartel across the U.S.
Anthony ‘Geezy’ Gonzalez is alleged to have headed up a massive drug ring for the last six years, shifting 100 pounds (45.3 kilograms) of cocaine and over a ton of marijuana through Virginia.
A federal investigation into his dealings, and that of six of his associates, has turned up evidence suggesting Gonzalez imported the narcotics from Panama, Florida, California and Arizona, laundering millions through various businesses, including Clipse’s booking agency, Soul Providers Management.
The legal documents state the defendants pretended they were "music producers, rappers, entrepreneurs, club owners, clothing designers and other legitimate occupations in order to conceal the true source of their income". Gonzalez is facing a total of 82 counts.
The 34 year old handed himself in to cops in Miami on Tuesday (28Apr09) and will appear before a federal magistrate in the city on Wednesday (29Apr09).
He is expected to return to Virginia to face the 82-count indictment.
Clipse are not thought to be directly involved in the charges.

JAMIE LYNN SPEARS’ boyfriend CASEY ALDRIDGE has been moved out of intensive care and is on the road to recovery following Sunday’s (26Apr09) car crash, according to his uncle.
Aldridge, who shares 10-month-old daughter Maddie with Spears, swerved into a ditch while driving down a Louisiana highway and was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center with head injuries.
Three of the five people riding in the truck - including Aldridge himself - were thrown from the vehicle as it flipped over.
Aldridge suffered mild brain trauma and a fractured skull, while another passenger sustained a broken collarbone, and a third injured his hip.
But the 19-year-old has been responding well to treatment and was moved out of intensive care on Tuesday (28Apr09).
His uncle Odus Jackson tells E! News, "It was a big scare there for a moment, but he got moved out of ICU and is doing good."

The actress paid homage to movie legend Anne Bancroft’s The Graduate seductress Mrs. Robinson in the pages of the current issue of Playboy - and now she wants a similar role in a TV series.

U.S. TV icon ED MCMAHON is set to give evidence in his legal case against a Los Angeles medical facility - from his hospital bed.
McMahon is suing Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after they misdiagnosed a broken neck in 2007.
The beloved former The Tonight Show sidekick is currently in an intensive care unit as he battles both bone cancer and pneumonia.
But lawyers for Cedars-Sinai have called for McMahon to record a deposition - and if the star fails to do so, the case could be thrown out of court.
The 85 year old’s lawyer has agreed to the request - but only if it is taken from the star’s bedside at UCLA Medical Center, reports TMZ.com.
A letter from McMahon’s lawyer states, "He (McMahon) is not able to leave his hospital bed. Please suggest appropriate dates next week. Please be advised that Ed remains in ICU so medical precautions will be necessary at the direction of the attending UCLA staff."

BRITNEY SPEARS’ former manager SAM LUTFI has been ordered to stay away from the pop superstar for three years.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Aviva Bobb issued a harsh restraining order against Lutfi and his legal associate Jon Eardley on Tuesday (28Apr09).
Both men must stay at least 100 yards away from Britney, her two sons, and her family members’ homes.
Under the terms of the new order, they cannot contact the singer via phone, mail or email.
Spears’ father Jamie filed the restraining order request in January (09) after learning Lutfi had attempted to contact his daughter over Christmas (08), going so far as to smuggle a cell phone to the singer in a hotel.
Lutfi’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, tells People.com he plans to appeal the order on his client’s behalf, stating, "Never before in history has a restraining order been issued against someone who answered another person’s cries for help." Lutfi has filed a lawsuit against the Spears family for defamation and battery.
