Late movie icon PAUL NEWMAN has been posthumously inducted into the Connecticut Hall of Fame.
He’ll join fellow movie star Katharine Hepburn, writer Mark Twain and baseball legend Jackie Robinson among the other big names to receive the state honour.
The induction ceremony took place on Thursday (16Aug09) in Hartford.
Newman, 83, died in September (09).

ZAC EFRON has no plans to follow his HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL co-stars ASHLEY TISDALE and CORBIN BLEU into the music industry anytime soon - because he refuses to sing tunes written and produced by other people.
The Hollywood heartthrob has shown off his vocal talents in the hit Disney film franchise and in his role as Link Larkin in 2007’s movie adaptation of Hairspray.
But he admits he would only consider releasing an album after he’s learned how to write and produce songs on his own - so fans can connect with the real Efron.
He tells People.com, "I’m not going to pretend that I’m a music prodigy. I would want an album to come from me, not from writers or other producers. I definitely don’t possess those skills." But Efron insists he’s too busy to pursue a singing career just now. He adds, "Right now, I just don’t have the time."

FAST & FURIOUS star MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ has dismissed ongoing reports she’s a lesbian, insisting she likes men who love their mothers.
The feisty actress has been dogged by reports about her sexuality for years - and was once linked to recently wed movie star Kristanna Loken - but she has revealed she’s on the hunt for a real man.
Rodriguez tells Latina magazine, "I can’t stand boys. A boy looks at me like he wants to bang me, and I wanna throw up.
"I like men, ’cause they’ve been around the block and they respect their mamis (sic). It’s hard to find one that’s not machista (sic)." And, if she does find a Mr. Right, she has no plans to wed to marry him.
She adds, "I don’t believe in commitment. That’s like giving somebody the responsibility of your happiness, like, ‘Here, you make sure that all my orgasms are great, that I have somebody to hold on cold winter nights, and just assure me that if anybody messes with me, you’ll beat them up.’ Other than that, I don’t see the point of marriage.

SIR ELTON JOHN has been booked to perform at tennis ace ANDY RODDICK’s wedding this weekend, according to new reports.
Tennis fan Elton will join expected celebrities like sporting couple Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi at the nuptials, which will reportedly take place at Roddick’s Texas home.
The court hunk will wed Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Brooklyn Decker, 21, on Saturday (19Apr09), according to the New York Post.
Roddick’s wedding comes a month after ex-girlfriend Mandy Moore wed singer/songwriter Ryan Adams.

A peeping Tom-ette has been arrested after she was caught leering into BRITNEY SPEARS’ empty home in Calabasas, California on Thursday morning (16Apr09).
Police officers were called to Spears’ new home when neighbours spotted Miranda Tozier-Robbins acting suspicious.
Wearing camouflage fatigues and carrying a backpack and video camera, Tozier-Robbins was caught peering through windows, according to TMZ.com.
According to the incident report, security asked her to leave, but the woman refused and had to be physically escorted off the property.
Sheriffs arrived on the scene and Tozier-Robbins was booked on charges of trespassing and disorderly conduct.
The incident happened while Spears was preparing for her Staples Center show in Los Angeles on Thursday night (16Apr09). The pop star wasn’t at home at the time.
Tozier-Robbins is scheduled to appear in court on 16 June (09).

Grieving celebrity couple JOHN TRAVOLTA and KELLY PRESTON attempted to fly away their troubles over Easter by jetting off to Fiji and Australia.
The Pulp Fiction star and his wife have rarely left their Florida compound since the death of their son Jett at the beginning of the year (Jan09), but they took a secret round-the-world flight together last week.
They spent part of Easter in Fiji and then flew to Brisbane, Australia on Sunday (12Apr09) for a low-key three-day stay.
The Sydney Daily Telegraph reports the couple took in a day trip to Byron Bay and dined with friends as part of their Australian vacation, before Travolta piloted their plane out on Wednesday night (15Apr09).
One local, Alicia Spence, got to pose for a picture with the actor while he was dining at a Chinese restaurant in the city.
She tells the publication, "He was really nice and was happy to be in a photo with us."

DREW BARRYMORE fully immersed herself in her role in new TV movie GREY GARDENS by forcing her own friends to communicate with her character.
The actress plays Jackie Kennedy-Onassis’ reclusive cousin ‘Little’ Edie Beale in the HBO movie, which airs in the U.S. on Saturday (18Apr09).
Barrymore was determined to capture Beale’s character, and hid herself away from friends and family for months so she could deliver an authentic portrayal.
She tells Starpulse.com, "I went a little insane, because I just lived and breathed her. I thought that if the crew heard me talk the way I talk, they would think I was acting when I was being her and they wouldn’t believe me. They would see that it wasn’t real. I only spoke to people as her and I isolated myself because she was isolated. I just tried to be her in every way I could." And her method acting had an impact on her real life relationships - her best friend had to invite the late Beale to her wedding.
She explains, "She was getting married and sent me a letter addressed to Little Edie. It was hard, it was difficult, and very lonely, but so was she."

GWYNETH PALTROW has posted a cryptic message on her Goop.com website blasting a former pal who turned against her.
The actress refuses to name names, simply calling the ex-pal a "frenemy" - leading gossips to speculate on who the old friend might be.
In the online newsletter, Paltrow writes, "This person really did what they could to hurt me. I was deeply upset, I was angry, I was all of those things you feel when you find out that someone you thought you liked was venomous and dangerous. I restrained myself from fighting back. I tried to take the high road.
"But one day I heard that something unfortunate and humiliating had happened to this person. My reaction was deep relief and…happiness. There went the high road." Paltrow signs off by asking readers, "So, why does it feel so good to hear something bad about someone you don’t like?"

SIR MICHAEL CAINE dropped his regular fee to make new movie IS ANYBODY THERE? after the script reduced him to tears.
The Oscar winner plays a retired magician in the movie, about a young boy who grows up in a home for the elderly, and admits he would never have taken on a small-budget project for such a reduced wage - but he was forced to reconsider after reading the moving screenplay.
He says, "It’s an extraordinary film. It’s the only script I’ve ever read that made me cry. And I don’t cry easily. So I said I’d do it. It’s produced by David Heyman, who made (produced) the Harry Potter films, and he got me cheap. I was vulnerable." Caine has dedicated his performance to a pal who recently lost his battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Rapper RAEKWON is preparing to release his first solo album in six years after signing a new distribution deal with EMI Records.
The Wu-Tang Clan member has been shopping around for a record deal since negotiations to join Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Records on Interscope collapsed in 2007.
But he has now taken his ICEH20 Records over to EMI and will release Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II as a joint venture on the two labels this summer (09) - two years after he initially revealed plans for the disc, reports MTV.com.
In a statement released on Wednesday (15Apr09), Raekwon says, "The wait is finally over. Words cannot describe how extremely happy I am to work with EMI Music to put out my album." The disc is Raekwon’s first since 2003’s The Lex Diamond Story, released on Universal, and is the sequel to his 1995 debut Only Built 4 Cuban Linx…

TRAVIS BARKER and ADAM ‘DJ AM’ GOLDSTEIN are teaming up for only the second time since their 2008 plane tragedy to play at the Coachella festival in California on Saturday (18Apr09).
The duo, who perform as TRV$-DJAM will headline the Sahara Tent bill, even though punk star Barker still has no feeling in his left hand and has been told he’s still not fit to perform.
The two friends and collaborators escaped with their lives when a private jet they were passengers on failed to clear a runway in South Carolina and burst into flames last September (08).
Two associates and the two-man pilot crew onboard were killed in the tragedy, which left both Barker and Goldstein with severe burns all over their bodies.
But Barker insists he couldn’t give up the chance to perform at Coachella, which is one of his favourite festivals.
He says, "Being able to play music after my 16 surgeries has made me appreciate it more now then ever." The drummer tells the Press-Enterprise newspaper he underwent surgery on his ulner nerve in his arm in February (09), but he still has no sensation in his hand.
He explains, "My hand is still numb and I’m hoping eventually the feeling will come back. I’m still supposed to be resting but I couldn’t pass on Coachella."

ONE TREE HILL star ANTWON TANNER has been arrested by New York police in connection with a Social Security card scam.
The actor, who plays Skills on the teen show, handed himself over to federal prosecutors on Thursday (16Apr09).
According to TMZ.com Tanner, "knowingly and intentionally" transferred Social Security cards last year "with intent to defraud".
He is due to be arraigned at a U.S. Federal Court in Brooklyn next week (21Apr09).

ZAC EFRON has been forced to call in a plumber to fix a broken sprinkler at his new Hollywood home, after the actor’s attempts to correct the problem left his garden flooded.
The High School Musical star splashed out $1 million (£671,140) on a sprawling mansion in Los Angeles earlier this year (09), but admits a recent turn as a handyman ended in disaster.
He tells People.com, "My sprinkler broke the other day, and I spent all day trying to fix it. I just made things worse and now my whole back yard is flooded." But that’s not the only task Efron is struggling with as a first-time homeowner.
He adds, "Keeping the house clean (is a task). It’s like a bigger version of the disaster formerly known as my room."
