Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:33 pm

British novelist NICK HORNBY is adding musician to his impressive resume - the HIGH FIDELITY writer is teaming up with American singer-songwriter BEN FOLDS to create a new album.
Hornby, who also wrote the Hugh Grant movie About a Boy, has recruited Folds to compose music to accompany lyrics he penned.
And Folds reveals they make a prolific team - they already have nearly two albums’ worth of material.
He says, "I write around his lyrics, which I do easily ’cause he’s written these great lyrics. Right now we’re up to 18 (songs) that I think are really good, but I think he’ll be inspired when he starts hearing them finished and will start to write some more - like a creative second wind or something."

LIL’ KIM EMBROILED IN STORCH’S BENTLEY CASE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:30 pm

LIL’ KIM is finding it hard to shake off her bad girl reputation - her repossessed Bentley is reportedly the vehicle hip-hop producer SCOTT STORCH stands accused of stealing.
The rapper has faced a string of legal and financial woes in recent years, including a stint behind bars in 2005 for perjury and conspiracy and racking up tax debts amounting to $979,090 (£704,380).
Lil’ Kim, who is currently a contestant on American TV talent show Dancing with the Stars, also had her top of the range Bentley towed away after she allegedly failed to pay its monthly installments.
However, according to TMZ.com, the Bentley actually belonged to producer pal Storch, who sent executives at a Florida car leasing company on a seven-month search for the luxury vehicle after the lease expired and he failed to hand over the keys.
Storch reportedly lent Lil’ Kim the car, who kept the Bentley until the leasing company found out and repossessed it from her New Jersey home.
The producer, who is also heavily in debt due to unpaid taxes and is currently in rehab, pleaded not guilty to a motor vehicle theft charge earlier this month (10Apr09). He is due back in court on 29 May (09).
According to the website, Lil’ Kim will appear in court as a witness.

DRUG-PUSHING HIP-HOP MOGUL LOCKED UP FOR LIFE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:30 pm

Hip-hop mogul ALTON ‘ACE CAPONE’ COLES has been locked up for life after he was convicted on Thursday (16Apr09) of helming a violent drug dealing empire.
Coles, owner of Take Down Records, was found guilty of conspiracy to distribute cocaine in Pennsylvania’s major cities and leading a criminal enterprise which hauled out $25 million (£17.8 million) worth of the drug onto the streets.
He was also charged with weapons possession and money laundering after the jury returned with just 14 not guilty verdicts out of the 137 counts against him.
He was sentenced to life imprisonment plus 55 years.
According to prosecutors, Coles used his record label as a front to launder drug money.
Cole, who testified in his own defence, refuted the claims - insisting his massive wealth was acquired through his music company and the selling of a legal powder that dealers use to stretch out cocaine in order to make maximum profit.
Judge R. Barclay Surrick told Coles, "You never respect life, or the value of it, until it’s taken away." He was originally arrested and charged in 2005.

JAY-Z BATTLING NEW YORK CLUB OVER BILL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:30 pm

Rapper JAY-Z has come under fire from the manager of a trendy New York club who alleges the star’s music industry pals failed to pay a $1,500 (£1,034) bill.
The hip-hop mogul is said to have enjoyed a night out at the city’s M2 hotspot in Chelsea in February (09) with Atlantic Records executive Michael Kyser and Universal Music Group boss Shawn Costner.
M2 manager Dan Develin claims the group was handed a heavily discounted $1,500 (£1,034) bill at the end of the night but left without settling their tab.
He tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, "Jay-Z ordered a bottle of Patron Platinum and some expensive champagne, and everything was going great. The waitress has known him for five years, and he’s a good friend of Joey’s (owner Joey Morrissey), so we ended up comping a lot of their bill.
"Kyser and Costner were making a big show of wanting to take Jay-Z out, so they started arguing over who got to pick up the check. Jay-Z ended up tipping the waitress $500 and going outside to wait." Develin alleges Costner’s credit card was declined and Keyser opted to pay the full total - but he claims the music executive left without authorising the transaction and has subsequently failed to pay up.
He adds, "Before we could get him to sign the receipt, he left the club. Of course, we still have his card, so we called up his office, and his assistant told us someone would come by to sign. Weeks went by, and no one ever did. Finally, we got a call from AmEx and were told that Kyser was disputing the charge. When we called him up again, his assistant said, ‘Oh, Michael says he doesn’t actually remember being there’ - which is crazy because we have his card and photos of him and Jay-Z." Owner Morrissey has voiced his hope that the matter can be resolved amicably, adding, "We just want to settle this and be done without having to press charges." A spokesman for Jay-Z declined to comment.

NORRIS VOLUNTEERS TO LEAD TEXAS REVOLUTION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:27 pm

Martial-arts master CHUCK NORRIS has his sights set on becoming more than a Texas Ranger - he has volunteered to run as the U.S. state’s first president.
Norris, who played TV hardman Cordell Walker in hit series Walker, Texas Ranger, has put himself up for the job of running the region after discussing the possibility of the state seceding from U.S. control during a rant on CNN.com’s political blog.
The actor, who is a staunch Republican, insists Texans want an independent state after being let down by the American government - and thinks he’d be the ideal candidate to lead the Lone Star state’s revolution.
He says, "I may run for president of Texas. That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.
"Anyone who has been around Texas for any length of time knows exactly what we’d do if the going got rough in America."
