KEATING ‘PLANNED FUNERAL’ AFTER FINDING LUMP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:00 am

Irish singer RONAN KEATING was so terrified by a recent cancer scare he began choosing the songs he wanted played at his funeral.
The Boyzone frontman was holidaying in South Africa when he found a lump on his testicle, and immediately suspected the worst.
And Keating, who lost his mother to breast cancer 11 years ago, admits he panicked, thinking he would fall victim to the disease like his beloved mum.
He tells Britain’s Daily Mail, ‘It was really scary. I thought I definitely had cancer. The lump felt very different and I knew straight away there was something there. I had written myself off. I had the songs picked for my funeral and everything." But despite a reassuring phone call to his doctor, he couldn’t shake the fear in the back of his mind.
He adds, "I called my GP straight away. He told me it was probably fine but to come and see him when I got back. Being a hypochondriac I feared the worst. We went to the beach, the wine region and on safari, but I worried the whole time. It ruined the holiday." However, a trip to the hospital on his return home showed the lump was harmless - but the experience has made Keating determined to raise awareness about testicular cancer.
He explains, "Men are too proud. They don’t want to get their testicles checked by some doctor and they won’t see one if they do find something.
"Because I’m always preaching about checking yourself regularly, I’d be a bit of a hypocrite if I didn’t do it myself."

CHAN’S CHINA COMMENTS COME UNDER FIRE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:57 am

JACKIE CHAN has caused uproar amongst pro-democracy groups after allegedly stating the people of China "need to be controlled" by a strict government.
The action star, a Hong Kong native and one of the Communist nation’s leading stars, reportedly spoke about the dangers of China adopting a democratic stance at a business forum in China’s Hainan province on Saturday (18Apr09).
He told the forum, "I’m not sure if it’s good to have freedom or not. I’m gradually beginning to feel that we Chinese need to be controlled. If we’re not being controlled, we’ll just do what we want." The Rush Hour actor added that the social structure in Taiwan, a democratic country which gained independence from China in 1949, is "chaotic", according to eastern news sources.
And Chan’s comments have come under fire from Taiwanese and Hong Kong lawmakers and democracy advocates.
Hong Kong pro-democracy legislator Leung Kwok says, "He’s insulted the Chinese people. Chinese people aren’t pets. Chinese society needs a democratic system to protect human rights and rule of law." Fellow lawmaker Albert Ho states, "People around the world are running their own countries. Why can’t Chinese do the same?"

FOLLOWILL’S WILD WHISKEY WAYS BECAME A BIG ISSUE FOR KINGS OF LEON

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:54 am

KINGS OF LEON star CALEB FOLLOWILL was such a danger to himself and others when he used to sleepwalk when drunk on whiskey, the band hired a security guard to make sure the singer never wandered into trouble.
The Sex On Fire singer was dubbed ‘The Rooster’ by his bandmates when his wildman ways turned him into a raging drunk - and they had to go to extreme lengths to make sure the frontman didn’t hurt himself or wake up in hotel lobbies naked.
Bandmate and brother Jared Followill tells Rolling Stone magazine, "Caleb would sleepwalk a lot, more like drunk-walk - like he’d wake up in the (hotel) lobby buck naked.
"If a fire alarm goes off in a hotel, you know Caleb’s naked somewhere and he suddenly woke up and freaked out.
"We were going to put an (alcohol monitoring) ankle bracelet on him, but his tight jeans won’t fit over it." Caleb insists his girlfriend of two years, model Lily Aldridge, has helped calm him down - and he no longer drinks whiskey because he knows it just acts as a catalyst for his wildman ways.
He says, "There were times when I was a pretty f**ked-up guy. There was rarely a moment when I was sober enough to make a point." And he’s not the only Kings of Leon member with drinking problems - Followill’s cousin Matthew has revealed he was drunk throughout much of the band’s recent European tour, and desperately needs a break.
He says, "I want to go to Hawaii and check into a hotel - that way I won’t be checking into rehab… I want to take a f**king year off and stay there until I’m sick of it."

FOXX SUFFERED MENTAL TRAUMA WHEN HE WAS 18

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:54 am

JAMIE FOXX has revealed he spent 11 months in mental hell after someone slipped drugs in his drink when he was a teenager.
The Oscar winner, who plays a mentally-challenged musician in new movie The Soloist, admits he didn’t take the role lightly - because he knew how easy it is for someone to lose his or her mind.
Admitting he has rarely spoken about his past mental health issues, the Ray star tells the Los Angeles Times newspaper, "When I was 18, somebody slipped something in my drink and it ripped me apart.
"I had to go to the hospital. I mean, I was gone, it was the kind of trip that… you’re losing your mind. I kept thinking, ‘I can’t live like this’.
"It didn’t go away, either - for 11 months, I had flashbacks.
"After what happened when I was 18, when I was at music school, at International University in San Diego, I had a roommate named Mark, a white kid from Nebraska, he would have to talk me to sleep because I would have all of these crazy thoughts.
"I would go down to the pianos… and I would just play music for hours on end just to keep my mind from the crazy stuff." And those flashbacks returned as Foxx played real-life schizophrenic Nathaniel Ayers in the Soloist. The actor/singer also suffered panic attacks and bouts of paranoia as he filmed the movie.
He adds, "I thought about just walking away from this movie." But, instead, he sought the counsel of psychiatrists, and asked them for their help and advice - so he could portray Ayers without personal repercussions: "I got really worried, I felt all these things. I went to a psychiatrist and I actually asked, ‘Can I catch schizophrenia?’ Now I know you can’t, but I also knew I had this thing happen to me before, and it felt like it was going to happen again.
"It’s one thing to go crazy and not know it, but, if you feel yourself slipping in, then it’s like drowning, going down. That’s how I felt as a teenager, and just getting close to it again, I could feel the sweat coming, and I felt like I had to run out of there."

Outspoken Mills, who charges up to $102,000 (£75,000) a time as an after-dinner speaker, also complained she has become unpopular: "Everyone thinks I’m nuts because I speak the truth and I’m very outspoken. The meat industry hate me, the dairy industry hate me, the Beatle industry hate me, the landmine industry. So I have a lot of enemies out there. But I also have a lot of support."
