TWILIGHT fans can breathe a sigh of relief after studio executives confirmed the upcoming sequel NEW MOON will not be affected by an ongoing lawsuit against author STEPHENIE MEYER.
The writer, who penned the books on which the films are based, is facing legal action from her former college roommate, who alleges Meyer based the novels on a short story she wrote as a student.
The lawsuit was reported to have had severe implications for the film franchise - which stars Robert Pattinson - with internet gossips speculating that the shooting of New Moon in Canada had been halted.
But a spokesperson from Summit Entertainment, the company behind the movie, insists New Moon remains on schedule for a 20 November (09) release.
The rep tells MSNBC.com, �Production is underway, in Vancouver, totally as planned. There is no delay. Whatever you�re hearing about a lawsuit interfering with the film (and) its release, all I can say is it�s totally false.�

The planned remake of FOOTLOOSE has reportedly been thrown into crisis over CHACE CRAWFORD’s commitments to teen drama GOSSIP GIRL.
The young actor is believed to be in final negotiations to sign on to the project to replace Zac Efron in the role made famous by Kevin Bacon in the 1984 original.
But Crawford is struggling to find time to film the movie because he is already contracted to shoot another series of Gossip Girl in New York, according to E! Online.
A source tells the website, "There’s a big overlap of when he’d have to shoot Footloose and the next season of Gossip Girl. Chace may be hiring a big-league attorney to come in and figure out how to make it work." The remake is currently scheduled to hit cinemas in 2010.

Troubled singer AMY WINEHOUSE has landed herself in hot water - she has suffered severe scalds after a cooking blunder.
The star decided to hold a dinner party for her pals on the Caribbean isle of St. Lucia, where she has spent much of the last four months working on a new album.
But trouble began brewing in the kitchen after a huge pan of boiling water full of pasta fell from the cooker, dousing the Rehab hitmaker in scalding water.
She has since been snapped with burns on her legs, and has left fellow holidaymakers aghast by failing to cover and care for her injuries.
A fellow tourist tells Britain’s The Sun newspaper, "Amy’s wounds looked so painfully sore - she really should cover them up or get herself under an umbrella.
"They were covered in sand too. We couldn’t believe she wasn’t keeling over in pain." But the star’s spokesman insists the wounds aren’t as bad as they look: "She’s not in a lot of pain, she’s just letting it breathe."

America’s leading Hindu scholars are urging top tattoo artists to read up on their Sanskrit after noticing inked text on RIHANNA and DAVID BECKHAM’s skin is misspelled.
According to the experts, Beckham’s tattoo tribute to his wife Victoria is incorrect - as is one of Rihanna’s new spiritual etchings.
Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed says, "We are all for the celebrity interest in Hinduism and our sacred texts, but celebrity tattoo artists worldwide really should undertake some basic training in ancient Sanskrit language and culture to get this right." Zed insists it must be embarrassing for the stars when they realise permanent marks on their skin are incorrect.
He adds, "Rihanna has two Sanskrit prayer tattoos - her latest is misspelled.
"And David Beckham has his wife Victoriaâ��s name in Devnagri script, which is commonly used to write Sanskrit, on his arm - it’s wrong! The tattoo on his left forearm misspells Victoria with an added ‘h’ - as in ‘Vihctoria’." But fortunately for stars like Jessica Alba, Tommy Lee and The X Files star Gillian Anderson, their prayer tattoos are all correct.
Zed tells WENN, "I won’t tell you what they all mean - because I’m sure they’re very special to the individuals.
"We are delighted that so many celebrities choose to pay tribute to Hinduism with tattoos. We only ask that the tattoo artists take the trouble to get it right."

Soccer superstar DAVID BECKHAM has vowed to help Britain’s Prime Minister GORDON BROWN battle malaria in a bid to save lives around the world.
The sports hunk has teamed up with the U.K.’s leader to launch an anti-malaria campaign, Malaria No More UK, in a bid to eradicate the deadly disease in high-risk areas.
Despite being easily treatable, half the world’s population is at risk from the illness.
And Beckham believes that with the support of the British government, he can help wipe out Malaria for good.
He says, "It’s truly incredible to think we can stop this killer disease forever and it’s such a simple thing to do.
"For less than the cost of a football you can protect a family from dying. I urge the U.K. public to get behind the Malaria No More UK campaign to save a life and make malaria no more."

British rockers OASIS are set to go their separate ways after the band’s live shows this summer (09) - because brothers NOEL and LIAM GALLAGHER need time to repair their turbulent relationship.
The pair has long been famed for their feuding, but Noel Gallagher insists things are now so bad his brother hasn’t even met his 19-month old nephew Donovan, Gallagher’s son with Sara MacDonald.
And the guitarist is adamant that a five-year hiatus is the only way to rebuild the respect between the siblings.
He tells Britain’s The Sun newspaper, "By the time we make another record we’ll be five years older. He’s never seen my little lad, just pictures. To a stranger it sounds ludicrous, but you wouldn’t have him in the house if he spoke to you the way he speaks to me and my family.
"Liam is constantly developing techniques for balancing that f****** tambourine on his head.
"He’s rude, arrogant, intimidating and lazy. He’s the angriest man you’ll ever meet. He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup." Gallagher claims the breakdown in communication began when the group were recording its latest album Dig Out Your Soul in 2008, when Liam left the band in the studio to secretly wed longtime girlfriend Nicole Appleton.
He explains, "There’s two great tracks lying there not finished from the last record, because of Liam f**king off to get married. That annoys the f**k out of me. We’ve got a 50-piece choir on both, they’re enormous. There’s no talking to be done. Maybe that’s the problem - there’s no fall-out from it. I never said to him, ‘What are you doing?"

Rapper FLESH-N-BONE walked away from a jail sentence on Monday (20Apr09) after gun possession charges against the hip-hop star were dropped by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge.
The Bone Thugs-N-Harmony star, real name Stanley Howse, was charged by California cops after he was stopped in Santa Clarita on 2 April (09) for a broken brake light.
The MC is currently on parole for an earlier probation violation and the stop prompted police to search his Canyon Country home, resulting in the discovery of the gun.
Howse pleaded not guilty to the felony count, claiming the weapon belonged to his wife, an officer with the Chicago, Illinois police force.
He was set to appear before the judge last week (16Apr08) for a preliminary hearing, but the case was pushed back after Howse’s lawyers put forward new information requiring further investigation.
Howse was forced to remain in custody until Monday, and subsequently had all charges dropped at the Santa Clarita, California courthouse due to the new information put forward by his legal team.
A spokeswoman for the Los Angeles district attorney’s office says, "The defence turned over some information, and we investigated and realised we were unable to proceed with the charges as filed, so the judge dismissed the case." The star’s lawyer adds, "It vindicates what I’ve said from the start of this case, which is that Mr. Howse did not possess any contraband.
"When you haven’t done anything wrong and you wind up in jail it’s a pretty traumatic event. There’s still a parole hold, and we hope to get that resolved within the next week."

Aussie actor ERIC BANA was left fearing for his life the first time he visited America, when he found himself driving through notorious gang-run neighbourhoods in Washington, D.C.
The Hulk star toured the U.S. in a Ford Mustang when he was 22, and quickly realised it wasn’t the dream roadtrip he’d anticipated.
He tells Details magazine, "It sounded like a great idea at the time, but after 10 days straight without talking to anybody, you start to think, ‘What the f**k am I doing here?’" And things got worse when he stumbled on a crime-ridden corner of the capital.
Bana adds, "I’d be pulling up to street corners, and there were gangs right there, and I’m in this little Mustang by myself. I thought, ‘I am f**king dead.’ "I was running red lights, hoping the cops would pull me over."

The upset surrounding SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE star RUBINA ALI and her father’s alleged attempt to sell her has reached fever pitch as her mother and stepmum were embroiled in a vicious catfight in the squalid streets of India’s slums.
Rafiq Qureshi, 36, was caught in a sting by British newspaper the News of the World, allegedly offering the nine-year-old to an undercover reporter for $300,000 (£200,000).
Despite vehemently denying the allegations, Qureshi was arrested on Monday (20Apr09) and quizzed for several hours by Mumbai police.
Now Rubina’s real mother, Khurshida Devade, who claimed she knew about the sale beforehand but believed her ex husband wouldn’t go through with it, has been photographed attacking her daughter’s stepmum in the slums of the city.
Photographs show Devade, who abandoned her family in 2001, in a vicious grapple with Qureshi’s new wife Munni, as the pair scream and slap each other in front of a crowd of bystanders.
The clash reportedly came after Devade told Mumbai authorities about her ex’s alleged child-trafficking plans.

Film fans in Tempe, Arizona have won the chance to host the world premiere of X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE as part of a U.S. contest.
The film’s star Hugh Jackman and his castmates will hit the red carpet in the desert city on 27 April (09).
Tempe won the honour after claiming the most votes in an online poll, which Jackman launched earlier this month (Apr09).

Singer/actress JILL HENNESSY has penned a new song about a real-life girl who was killed by her stepfather.
The former Law & Order star wrote Slow Down after hearing the tragic story about the unnamed murder victim - and then realised she had a link to the case.
Hennessy tells WENN, "I wrote about this young girl who was killed by her stepfather and it was all over the news and it really disturbed me. I found out this woman that I knew was actually the judge on the case. It became this bizarre kind of prayer." Her new album, Ghost In My Head, also features a tribute to a brave physically handicapped girl she knows: "I wrote this song 10,000 Miles while I was on the set of (movie) Wild Hogs in Santa Fe about this young seven year old girl I know who is physically challenged, but she wants to be a ballerina.
"She uses a physical therapy (ballet) bar so she could practice. I was just thinking how sad it is there are no ballet classes for little girls like this." Hennessy admits she always used to struggle performing her own lyrics and music - until she became a mum and realised she had a lot of family stories to share with fans.
She explains, "The whole album is about my family and people whoâ��ve affected me… My life became very intense in a good way after giving birth and my marriage; I really felt motivated to write and it started flowing out."

Country star BRAD PAISLEY and his actress wife KIMBERLY WILLIAMS-PAISLEY are to call their newborn son JASPER WARREN.
The couple explains Jasper is a name they both really like and Warren is the name of Celebrity singer Paisley’s grandfather, who bought the star his first guitar.
The tot was born in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday (17Apr09).
The couple already has a two-year-old son, called William Huckleberry.
Paisley will spend much of this week playing the doting new dad before headlining the Stagecoach festival in California on Saturday (25Apr09).
