LIAM GALLAGHER LAUGHS OFF NOEL’S COMMENTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:45 pm

LIAM GALLAGHER has laughed off his brother NOEL’s damning comments about their turbulent relationship - putting the outburst down to his overly sensitive emotions.
Noel Gallagher told Britain’s Q magazine that rockers Oasis are set to take a five-year break from recording because he can’t stand working with his younger brother.
The pair is famed for its feuding, but Noel insists they have hit an all-time low - and that Liam hasn’t even met his 19-month old nephew Donovan, Gallagher’s son with Sara MacDonald.
The guitarist told the magazine, "He’s never seen my little lad, just pictures. To a stranger it sounds ludicrous, but you wouldn’t have him in the house if he spoke to you the way he speaks to me and my family.
"Liam is… rude, arrogant, intimidating and lazy. He’s the angriest man you’ll ever meet. He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup." But Liam has taken to his personal Twitter.com page to downplay the comments - and poke fun at Noel for his recent radio show with controversial comedian Russell Brand.
He writes, "Noel Gallagher, Russell Brand, f**king hell…what a pair of old housewife’s (sic) LG" before responding to Noel’s Q comments by adding: "Is it that time of month again? LG".

MCCARTNEY BACKTRACKS ON INTERNET PIRACY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:06 pm

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY has changed his stance on illegal downloading on the internet - condemning the practise just months after insisting he "doesn’t mind" fans obtaining music for free.
In November (08) the Beatles legend aired his views on illegal downloads, admitting he was not bothered by music fans who use illicit methods to stock their digital music collections.
He explained, "It’s weird for me (the concept of downloading). I’m not from that. I’m from going into a shop and buying a 45. We’ve come through vinyl, tapes and CDs - it’s all the same, except people don’t pay for it (now). I don’t mind. It works out." But the veteran musician has now reversed his opinion on the subject in a new interview, suggesting he is opposed to the practise because it deprives new artists of their income.
He says, "If you get on a bus you’ve got to pay. And I think it’s fair, you should pay your ticket. The problem is you get a lot of young bands coming up and some of them aren’t going to last forever. So if they have a massive hit that’s going to pay their mortgage forever, they’re going to feed the children on that and if they don’t get that money, if they don’t see that money, I think it’s a bit of a pity."

LUTFI AMENDS SPEARS LAWSUIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:06 pm

BRITNEY SPEARS’ former manager SAM LUTFI has re-filed his lawsuit against the pop star’s parents after amending his accusations against them in the original papers.
Jamie and Lynne Spears have publicly blamed Lutfi for the series of emotional crises that led to the Toxic hitmaker losing custody of her two sons to ex-husband Kevin Federline in 2007.
Lutfi filed suit for compensation in February (09), holding Spears’ parents responsible for damaging his reputation by allegedly leaking false information about his conduct to the press.
The Spears camp then responded by filing a petition demanding the first seven pages of Lutfi’s charges were thrown out, alleging his complaints were a “calculated attempt to exploit the court system” that had “no factual or legal moorings".
An excerpt from the original papers reads: "Every aspect of (Britney’s) life and more importantly, her fortune, has been controlled by her parents” and that the star’s out of control behaviour "posed a serious threat to Jamie and Lynne" and the lavish lifestyles Lutfi claimed they enjoyed at the singer’s expense.
Now Lutfi has removed such language in a bid to "clarify" his allegations in new court documents, filed last Thursday (16Apr09).
Lutfi’s lawyer Bryan Freedman tells E! News, "We think the amended complaint sets forth our claim in a more clear fashion.
"There were certain allegations that we wanted to clean up. We felt (the language) provided some real background but we removed it…as far as the legal claims we’re seeking, it was irrelevant.” A judge is currently deciding whether or not to make permanent Spears’ restraining order against Lutfi - and Freedman has already vowed to appeal the ruling if the protective order against his client is extended.
The singer last month (Mar09) obtained a permanent restraining order against her former boyfriend, paparazzo Adnan Ghalib, which will be in place for three years.

BLIGE AND BIG BOI HELP TROUBLED HOMEOWNERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:06 pm

Singer MARY J. BLIGE and OUTKAST star BIG BOI have teamed up to support struggling homeowners in the U.S. - backing a campaign to raise awareness of the country’s foreclosure crisis.
The current global economic crisis has left many property owners unable to pay their mortgage, leading to a massive rise in the number of repossessed properties.
Blige and Big Boi have signed up to the Bringing the HOPE Home program, joining fellow campaigners in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday (18Apr09) on board the group’s special bus which is in the middle of a four-city tour.
On each stop, campaign officials offer homeowners the chance to review their situation with housing counsellors and mortgage lenders.
And Blige is delighted to be able to help, telling AllHipHop.com, "Foreclosure rates in Atlanta have risen drastically in recent years. So I want to do what I can to help educate people about the options available to them to help keep their homes. They have to know where to go to ask for help. But most importantly, they need to know that they have to ask." Big Boi adds, "There are too many resources available for this to continue happening to families in Atlanta. That’s what this bus tour is about; making sure the people here know that too.” The tour is scheduled to make two more stops in Miami, Florida and Cleveland, Ohio.

FALL OUT BOY GIG TO GO AHEAD IN FLORIDA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:03 pm

FALL OUT BOY have been granted a reprieve in Florida after their Boca Raton gig was scrapped over "security" issues - they have succeeded in moving the concert to another venue.
Bassist Pete Wentz sparked rumours the group had been "banned" from the area after taking to his Twitter.com online blog to reveal their performance at the city’s Mizner Park Amphitheater on Tuesday night (21Apr09) had been cancelled by local officials.
A spokesman for the venue subsequently revealed the decision had been made due to "security" issues, claiming in a statement, "There have been known disturbances associated with Fall Out Boy. We anticipate that the concert will generate security challenges." Fall Out Boy’s manager, Bob McLynn, responded, "I’m not sure what these ‘challenges’ are that they are speaking of. The town said that if we tried to keep the show on we would have to pay an extraordinary amount of money in extra costs." But the group refused to disappoint fans in the area and have managed to reschedule the gig - part of the ongoing Believers Never Die Tour - in another town.
The concert will now take place at the Pompano Beach Amphitheater in nearby Pompano Beach.

BELL’S ANGER AT BRAND PHONE SCANDAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:00 pm

KRISTEN BELL has slammed RUSSELL BRAND for his prank phone calls to FAWLTY TOWERS star ANDREW SACHS - insisting she would have "beaten him up" if the comic had played the joke on her family.
Last year (08) Brand quit his British radio show after he and fellow broadcaster Jonathan Ross were heavily criticised for leaving "grossly offensive" messages on TV star Sachs’ answer machine during a live broadcast.
The pair discussed Brand’s fling with the 78-year-old’s granddaughter Georgina Baillie.
But Bell wouldn’t have tolerated her Forgetting Sarah Marshall co-star’s behaviour if he had done the same to her relatives.
She says, "If Russell had left a message on my grandfather’s answerphone I’d have beaten him up.
"It doesn’t surprise me that he did it, as Russell’s whole thing is to push the envelope. Hopefully, he’ll have learned the error of his ways."

APOLOGY ISSUED OVER ANGEL/HILTON SPAT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:00 pm

The organisers of CRISS ANGEL’s Las Vegas show have apologised for the star’s "inappropriate and disrespectful" remarks after he launched a foul-mouthed tirade at celebrity blogger PEREZ HILTON during a recent performance.
The magician was onstage as part of his Believe revue - a collaboration with Cirque du Soleil - at Sin City’s Luxor hotel on Friday (17Apr09) when he spotted Hilton in the audience.
And Angel subsequently stopped the act to lambast the internet gossip king, telling the crowd, "I have to recognise someone special here in the house. Perez Hilton, please stand up. We have the world’s biggest douchebag a**hole in the house!" Hilton fired back, "Thanks for the free tickets," and proceeded to criticise the show by posting comments on his Twitter.com web page.
And now the spat has forced bosses at Cirque du Soleil to confront the controversy - apologising for what Angel did and vowing to reprimand the star for his actions.
A statement from the group reads, "Cirque du Soleil does not condone disrespectful behaviour towards any audience member at any time. Cirque management will address such behaviour privately with any of its artists to ensure it will not happen again.
"Along with our partner, MGM MIRAGE, Cirque du Soleil wishes to extend an apology to any audience member that may have been offended by Criss Angel’s inappropriate and disrespectful remarks at Friday night’s performance of Believe."

CHAN DEFENDS CHINA COMMENTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:00 pm

JACKIE CHAN has moved to quash the controversy following his recent comments about democracy in China - insisting his remarks were taken out of context.
The action star, a Hong Kong native and one of the Communist nation’s leading stars, reportedly spoke about the dangers of China adopting a democratic stance at a business forum in the country’s Hainan province on Saturday (18Apr09).
He reportedly told the forum, "I’m not sure if it’s good to have freedom or not. I’m gradually beginning to feel that we Chinese need to be controlled. If we’re not being controlled, we’ll just do what we want." The comments have been heavily criticised by pro-democracy groups both in China and worldwide.
But a representative for the actor is adamant Chan was referring to freedom in the entertainment industry and not Chinese society at large.
Solon So, chief executive of Chan’s company JC Group, says, ""Some people with ulterior motives deliberately misinterpreted what he was saying."
