The pair were joking around between takes on their forthcoming movie This Side of the Truth when the Brothers and Sisters star beat Gervais in a war of words.
But The Office creator wasn’t going down without a fight - and shot Lowe in the face with a dart gun to get even with him.
Lowe says, "I had such fun giving him hell. It was merciless. He had these amazing dart guns. We were running around just for fun and that was the only way he could get me back. He had to resort to physical violence because he couldn’t take me on verbally. Only physically."

U.S. TV bounty hunter DUANE ‘DOG’ CHAPMAN escaped injury on Tuesday (21Apr09) when he and his colleague were shot at by a man they were attempting to apprehend.
The Dog The Bounty Hunter star and bail bondsman Bobby Brown were in pursuit of Hoang Nguyen in Colorado when the suspect fired a handgun in their direction.
According to police in Colorado Springs, the pair fired back with paintball guns as Nguyen fled the scene on a motorcycle.
He was eventually arrested by Chapman in the early hours of Wednesday (22Apr09), reports TMZ.com.

MACAULAY CULKIN’s actor brother KIERAN threw himself into his work in a bid to cope with the sudden death of his sister DAKOTA.
Culkin’s 29-year-old sister was struck by a car and killed in Los Angeles in December (08).
The family was left crushed by the tragedy, and Culkin admits there were days when he pondered giving up life in the spotlight to cope with his grief.
But he decided to plough on with the promotion of forthcoming movie Lymelife to get him through the tough times.
He tells Interview magazine, "It�s been a rough couple of months. I won�t speak for anyone else, but I�m doing okay.
"That�s the point of doing this interview and stuff. For a little while there, I wasn�t going to do any press. I wasn�t going to do Sundance. This was all a sort of getting-out-of-bed-and-start-walking thing.

BRITNEY SPEARS has escaped testifying in her ongoing battle to win permanent restraining orders against three of her former companions - a judge has declared she is not fit to take the stand.
The star’s father, Jamie Spears, who has been appointed conservator of her estate, took to the courts earlier this year (Jan09) in a bid to extend protective orders against former manager Sam Lutfi, lawyer Jon Eardley, and ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib.
A Los Angeles judge last month (Mar09) granted the restraining order against Ghalib, which will be in place for three years.
But Lutfi and Eardley are still contesting the case in court, with Eardley filing papers demanding the singer testify at the hearing.
Eardley, the attorney Spears allegedly hired to fight her conservatorship case in 2008, argued that if the Toxic hitmaker is well enough to perform a major tour, she should be able to attend court and give evidence.
But Eardley’s request has been denied by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Akiva Bobb, who upheld a previous ruling on Tuesday (21Apr09) that states Spears isn’t mentally fit to make her own legal decisions.
The judge told the court, "There was a finding of a judge of the Superior Court that she lacks the capacity to testify." Temporary restraining orders against the men were extended until April 28 (09), when the judge will hear rebuttal arguments before making a final decision.

Troubled actress LINDSAY LOHAN is considering moving abroad in a bid to put her personal problems behind her - eyeing a fresh start in London.
The New York-born actress currently lives in Los Angeles but splits her time between the two cities.
But following her recent break-up from girlfriend Samantha Ronson, the Mean Girls star is said to be seriously considering buying a home in the British capital to escape the unwanted media attention in America.
She says, "I like (London’s) Notting Hill a lot. I also often stay with a friend in Chelsea. I’d move there tomorrow. I prefer London to New York. The people are less judgemental."

UMA THURMAN has blasted reports she secretly wed fiance ARPAD BUSSON at the weekend (18-19Apr09).
The couple - engaged since last year (08) - was reported to have eloped to the Bahamas to exchange vows in a private ceremony on the island of Eleuthera on Saturday (18Apr09).
But Stephen Huvane, a representative for the Kill Bill actress, has dismissed the story, telling E! Online, "Uma did not get married." It is the second time Thurman has been forced to deny rumours of a secret wedding, with internet gossips speculating the pair tied the knot in New York in July (08) just a month after the Swiss financier proposed to the star.
When the couple eventually wed, it will be Thurman’s third trip down the aisle - she previously divorced actors Gary Oldman and Ethan Hawke. Busson has previously dated supermodel Elle Macpherson.

TOM CRUISE has reportedly quit his planned role in political thriller THE 28TH AMENDMENT - because the plot is too similar to upcoming movie MOTORCADE.
The actor was rumoured to be lined up to star in the film, about a U.S. president who uncovers plans to kill him.
But Moviehole.net reports he has turned down the part as he wants to star in Motorcade, the story of a terrorist group plotting to attack the U.S. president.
The website also alleges Cruise has rebuffed an offer to play a Hollywood actor who falls for his Chinese director in romantic comedy Lost for Words.

MADONNA is making sure the youngster she failed to adopt is well looked after - she’s left a nanny in Malawi to care for MERCY JAMES.
The singer wanted to become mum to the three-year-old, but her request for an interim adoption was turned down by a court in the capital Lilongwe earlier this month (03Apr09).
Mercy was sent back to the Kondanai Children’s Home after the failed bid and Madonna left the country without her.
But the star, who is appealing against the adoption ruling, made sure provisions were in place to extend her care to the child, according to orphanage director Anne Chikhwaza.
She says, "As Mercy’s legal guardian, I authorise where she goes. She is staying with Madonna’s people as a visitor. There is nothing wrong with that." A source tells Britain’s Daily Mirror, "During her farewell party at the lodge, Madonna instructed a nurse and a nanny to remain behind and care for Mercy while her lawyers appeal." Madonna’s appeal on the adoption bid is set to be heard in an African court on 4 May (08).

British rockers BLUR’s comeback is set to be longterm - guitarist GRAHAM COXON is confident the band will record new music.
The Parklife hitmakers announced plans for a reunion earlier this year (09), and are playing a string of U.K. gigs this summer.
And Coxon is already looking to the future - he wants to make a new record with bandmates Damon Albarn, Alex James and Dave Rowntree He tells Britain’s Daily Star newspaper, "I’d be up for it if everyone else is really into the idea. If it feels good then we will (record again). I’m sure we will.

A German pop singer who was arrested for allegedly infecting a sexual partner with HIV has been released from jail after spending 10 days behind bars.
No Angels star Nadja Benaissa, who is HIV-positive, was arrested in Frankfurt earlier this month (11Apr09).
She was charged with causing grievous bodily harm after she allegedly had unsafe sex with three partners between 2004 and 2006 and neglected to tell them about her condition.
But Benaissa has now been released from custody after her lawyers argued she should "enjoy the presumption of innocence" as there is no proof she infected any of the men.
Her release is subject to undisclosed conditions.
The star faces up to 10 years behind bars if convicted.

Singer JEWEL and husband TY MURRAY are "looking forward" to becoming parents - they are trying for a baby.
The couple wed in the Bahamas in August (08) and have made starting a family their top priority.
And even though Jewel is currently busy working on her new album, Lullaby, and Murray is tied up with TV talent contest Dancing With The Stars, the pair want to put their baby plans into action soon.
Jewel tells Hollyscoop.com, "Ty and I would like to start a family. It’s one of the reasons we got married, to start a family, so we’re going to start working on it." Rapper C-MURDER has been dropped by his legal team ahead of his upcoming murder trial - amid allegations he failed to pay his lawyers thousands of dollars in fees.
C-Murder- real name Cory Miller - was originally convicted of shooting and killing 16-year-old Steve Thomas during an altercation in a Louisiana nightclub in 2002.
His attorney, Ron Rakosky, had the guilty verdict overturned in Louisiana Supreme Court in 2006, after proving prosecutors had expunged the records of several witnesses to boost their credibility, according to AllHipHop.com.
A new trial is scheduled to go ahead in August (09), but the website reports that Rakosky has filed papers asking to be removed as Miller’s counsel, claiming the star has not paid him for hundreds of hours work over the past three years.
Miller recently risked violating a court-imposed gagging order by speaking out about the trial, declaring his innocence in an interview with the website: "As the evidence shows, I am innocent!… As my day in court approaches, my family and I pray and are confident I will be acquitted and cleared of all alleged incidents." Miller’s murder trial is scheduled to begin on 3 August (09).

Former BAYWATCH hunk DAVID CHARVET and actresses ESTELLA WARREN and ALI LANDRY will compete with America’s top athletes as part of a supercharged new reality TV show.
The Hollywood celebrities will be among the non-athletes challenging professional sportsmen and women including tennis ace Jennifer Capriati, basketball stars Robert Horry and Lisa Leslie, skiing king Bode Miller and American footballer Terrell Owens in a new The Superstars show.
Each Hollywood star will be paired up with an athlete for weekly contests in sporting events like swimming, cycling and kayaking.
A two-man team will be eliminated at the end of every challenge.
Landry will be teamed up with retired baseball star Jeff Kent, Planet of The Apes star Warren - a former synchronised swimmer - will work with Horry and Charvet will be matched with Capriati.
The all-action show is expected to be a summer (09) hit in the U.S. when it debuts in June (09).

90210 actress ANNALYNNE MCCORD is swapping the luxury of Beverly Hills for backpacking - she’s cleared her summer work schedule to go travelling in Europe.
The 21 year old plays spoilt rich kid Naomi Clark in the Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off, but insists she’s nothing like her onscreen character in real life - and is preparing to slum it as a tourist for several months during a break in filming.
And she’s looking forward to spending some quality time on her own.
She tells People.com, "I had several offers for the summer, but I decided there wasn’t anything I really 100 per cent wanted to do.
"I ended up telling my agent, ‘I’m sorry. I’m not available. I’m leaving. Don’t call me. I need some time and I just want to be by myself for a little bit.’ "I’ve been to London, Paris, Madrid, and Barcelona. I actually have 23 cities that I’m circling around. I do have some friends coming out to meet me in different cities, but I’m mostly going by myself. It’s pretty cool."

LINDSAY PRICE is set to show off her singing skills in new TV show EASTWICK - producers want the cast to turn an upcoming episode of the series into a musical.
The actress, who’s also an accomplished singer/songwriter, has teamed up with Rebecca Romijn and Jaime Ray Newman for the new project, based on late author John Updike’s 1984 novel The Witches of Eastwick.
The trio play a group of housewives who acquire mysterious powers after leaving their husbands. The tale was transformed for the big screen in 1987, with Cher, Susan Sarandon and Michelle Pfieffer as members of a coven alongside a devilish Jack Nicholson.
And Price admits her TV bosses are already pressuring the musically-inclined cast to turn the small screen drama into a sing-a-long.
She tells WENN, "What most people don’t know is Rebecca is actually a really good singer. Jaime Ray Newman has a great voice too. I’m more of a songwriter. I write and record. (Producers) said, ‘By episode nine, you know you guys have got to make this into a musical?’"

MICKEY ROURKE’s boxing career almost ended before it started - because his trainer insisted he wasn’t committed or disciplined enough to be a great fighter.
Top coach Freddie Roach, who is currently training Manny Pacquiao for his upcoming fight with Brit Ricky Hatton, refused to work with Rourke when the actor first approached him in 1990 - because The Wrestler star only turned up for training once in seven days.
Roach says, "I came out to Hollywood. I was here for seven days (and) he showed up in the gym one day in seven…. I ripped him so bad he actually cried." The actor remembers the harsh lesson he learned that day: "Freddie came into the gym one days and he goes, ‘Listen, I don’t train people to lose fights; you’re not running, you’re not doing this, you’re not doing that. I’m going back to Las Vegas.’ "I was making all kinds of excuses because my head was crazy… I was in tears. Freddie packed his bags and went back to Las Vegas.
"Freddie humiliated me, embarrassed me and reduced me to the fact that I was not giving 100 per cent, I was not being a professional and I was setting myself up to not be as good as I could be." But Rourke refused to give up - and kept begging his trainer to reconsider.
Roach recalls, "He called me every day for 30 days and then finally I said to him, ‘OK, if I come back, the next day you have off is the one I give you.’ "I think he had discipline in his life for the first time ever." Rourke quit acting and trained to become a professional boxer. Roach coached him for seven of eight fights before Rourke retired from the ring unbeaten. He won half his fights by knock-outs.
