PRINCE SUED OVER SHADY BOOK DEAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:15 pm

PRINCE is facing legal action from U.S. literary agents amid allegations he cut them out of a publishing deal they negotiated for him.
The singer reportedly agreed to be represented by the unnamed agency to secure distribution for a book documenting his 21-date residency at London’s O2 Arena in 2007.
According to the lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday (21Apr09), Prince chose the company as his "exclusive agent with respect to the negotiations of a publishing deal" for the tome.
But Prince is accused of cutting off all contact with the agency during the final stages of the talks - and then going behind their backs to seal the deal.
Literary agents are seeking compensation for the 15 per cent commission they were due for setting up the deal, estimated at $200,000 (£137,930), reports TMZ.com.

THORNTON CAN’T BELIEVE HIS RADIO RANT WAS HEADLINE NEWS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:15 pm

BILLY BOB THORNTON is amazed his recent radio outburst in North America became a major news item - because he always attacks interviewers who ask questions they’ve agreed not to ask.
The Oscar winner claims CBC Radio host Jian Ghomeshi had promised not to ask Thornton about his movie career during a live chat about his music and group The Boxmasters.
And when the DJ questioned Thornton about how he finds time for music in between his acting jobs, the actor snapped, "Would you say that to Tom Petty?" and went on to blast his host for broaching subject matter the star had allegedly warned show producers was off-limits.
A confused Ghomeshi asked, "Are you reacting to the fact that I referred to you as an actor?" to which Thornton replied, "Yeah, I am, since you were instructed not to talk about s**t like that." Ghomeshi apologised and the interview continued, but Thornton’s rant became headline news - something that left the star baffled.
He says, "The fact that that was news was astounding to me… but it gave humpbacked geeks all over the world something to do for a couple of days. I do that all the time - it’s not the first time.
"I was doing a show in Germany one time… and this woman was told, ‘Don’t say this, don’t say that,’ which you have the right to do. If they look you in the eye and say, ‘We promise,’ then that’s the deal. This woman said something that she wasn’t supposed to say and I told her that I received signals from Venus through a metal plate in my head." Thornton admits the media fuss about his CBC Radio rant prompted family and friends to call him and ask if he was OK.
He adds, "I told a DJ to kiss my a**, that’s all that happened. It’s not like I got run over by a bulldozer."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:12 pm

JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT was so focused on planning her wedding to Scottish actor ROSS MCCALL she didn’t realise she was falling for someone else.
When the actress and McCall split at the end of last year (08), Hewitt fell into the arms of Ghost Whisperer co-star Jamie Kennedy - and now she can’t believe she didn’t consider a relationship with her old friend before.
Speaking candidly about her new romance on Wednesday’s (22Apr09) Ellen DeGeneres show in America, she said, "Break-ups are awful, they’re really painful, they really hurt, they really suck on lots of levels but what I think is great about life is the universe always brings you something really beautiful and great afterwards - and that’s kinda where I am now, so it’s OK." And cooing about her new love, she added, "We’ve been friends for a long time. I’ve never really had that… I’ve heard about being friends with somebody and then it turns into something else and I’ve never really done that before and it’s been great. He’s hilarious and when you’re with someone funny, they’re always funny.
"There’s people in your life who are just supportive and they look at you and they see who you are and he really saw who I was as a person more than anybody had ever done in my whole life.
"I knew he was funny, I knew he was special, I knew he was a really nice guy and a decent person; I just never really looked at him that way until a little while ago… I was planning a wedding… I was in a different time."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:12 pm

A real-life relationship for SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE lovebirds DEV PATEL and FREIDA PINTO in blossoming - the couple was spotted kissing during a romantic night out in Israel.
The actors, who played childhood sweethearts in the Oscar-winning movie, have frequently dismissed rumours they are dating for real, even after Slumdog co-star Anil Kapoor hinted they were an item.
Kapoor, who played a corrupt gameshow host in the film, recently said, "When I meet them I feel there is something happening. (I think) this is the beginning of something exciting happening. They definitely make a great pair. Both of them look very good together." His comments prompted Pinto, 24, to insist, "We’re not dating," while 18-year-old Patel added, "No, we’re not seeing each other." But the British teenager recently jetted to Tel Aviv, Israel to visit Pinto on the set of her new movie Miral, and the pair was later spotted enjoying a few tender moments during a romantic dinner.

ABDUL: ‘NO ONE COULD EVER REPLACE ME ON IDOL’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:48 pm

PAULA ABDUL has hit back at rumours she will be ousted from AMERICAN IDOL to make way for new judge KARA DIOGUARDI - insisting she is staying on the show.
The singer/dancer has become a regular fixture on the TV contest’s judging panel alongside Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson since its debut in 2002.
Earlier this year (09), the programme’s set-up was thrown into disarray earlier after Abdul made seemingly negative comments about Idol’s new addition DioGuardi, telling reporters a four judge panel didn’t work.
Songwriter DioGuardi hit back at Abdul’s comments, stating she was "hurt and disappointed" by the words.
But despite the drama, Abdul insists she is happy with her position on the show and is adamant DioGuardi - or anyone else - could never take her place in the series.
In an interview with TV show Nightline, set to air in the U.S. on Thursday (23Apr09), Abdul says, "I don’t think anyone (can replace me).
"First of all, Kara says, ‘I could never replace you.’ And I said whenever there is change it’s not about replacing anybody it’s about possibly moving on." And Abdul, whose three-year contract is up for renewal, insists she has no plans to quit Idol - because it took her years to feel "comfortable" on the series.
She adds, "I love the show, I do. I love what I do on the show. …It’s taken me a while to get comfortable in my own skin with the show."

"We had to break up or we thought we’d die. It took me years to get over it. It’s very sad by at least we survived."

And Klum - mother to Leni, five, Henry, three, and Johan, two - has already decided she wants a second daughter.
The German star tells Us Weekly magazine, "We’d be happy with either, but it would be a lie if I said we weren’t all hoping for a little girl - especially Leni, because she would love to have a little sister. She’ll say, ‘I hope it’s a girl so she can be in my room, and I’m going to help you and I’m going to change the diapers and I’m going to be a really good sister.’"

MADONNA WAS ‘BARELY CONSCIOUS’ TO SPEAK TO POLICE AFTER HORSE FALL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:45 pm

MADONNA is hitting back at reports she failed to tell police of the paparazzi’s involvement in her weekend (18Apr09) horse accident, insisting she was "barely conscious" and was "never asked" about how the incident happened.
The pop superstar was treated at Southampton Hospital on New York’s Long Island on Saturday after falling off a horse at the home of her friend Steven Klein.
Her representative Liz Rosenberg released a statement immediately after the tumble blaming a paparazzo for the incident, claiming the snapper stunned the Material Girl’s horse when he jumped out in front of her.
She said, "The accident occurred when the horse Madonna was riding was startled by paparazzi who jumped out of the bushes to photograph the singer, who was visiting friends on Eastern Long Island over the weekend." The claim has been disputed by photographer Thomas Hinton, who insists he was the only snapper present and left before the singer fell, while local police Sergeant Herbert Johnson revealed there was no mention of the paparazzo in the report Madonna filed.
But Madonna’s spokeswoman insists the star was too traumatised to reveal what had happened.
Rosenberg tells Access Hollywood, "Madonna was barely conscious and had fainted twice, right after the fall and when she was in the ambulance.
"She only remembers giving the police her name. They never asked her what happened. This could have been a very dangerous situation and we’re just all grateful that she wasn’t hurt more seriously."

HALLIWELL EYES ADOPTION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:42 pm

GERI HALLIWELL wants to follow in the footsteps of MADONNA and ANGELINA JOLIE by adopting a child from Africa.
The former Spice Girl is a single mother to two-year-old daughter Bluebell Madonna, from her relationship with British screenwriter Sacha Gervasi.
But Halliwell, who recently split from fiance Fabrizio Politi, insists she would love to expand her family by taking in an African boy or girl - as there are so many children suffering in the continent.
She tells Britain’s Red magazine, "I know it’s such a cliche for a famous person to adopt a child but that wouldn’t stop me. After working for the U.N., I know the AIDS epidemic in Africa has left so many children orphaned. It would be an absolute gift to be able do it."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:42 pm

RONNIE WOOD once splashed out $17,400 (£12,000) on a piece of artwork - only to discover it was a rare portrait worth $145,000 (£100,000).
The Rolling Stones star is an avid art collector and is a particular fan of Irish painter William Orpen.
Wood was delighted when he put in a winning bid in the 1980s on a piece by the artist - but was shocked to find out it was worth almost 10 times what he paid for it.
He says, "I sent my manager to an auction at Sotheby’s. I looked through the catalogue and said: ‘Get this and this if you can,’ and managed to get the portrait of (art dealer, Charles) Wertheimer for £12,000.
"Unknown to me, it was a missing Orpen and worth about £100,000."

JADAKISS SHARES LIL’ KIM’S GRIEVANCES OVER NOTORIOUS PORTRAYAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:39 pm

Rapper JADAKISS sympathises with LIL’ KIM over her portrayal in the recent NOTORIOUS B.I.G. biopic, insisting filmmakers got her character "a little wrong".
The Knock Yourself Out star, real name Jason Phillips, was a good friend of the late hip-hop icon and spent time with Kim when they were budding rappers looking to break into the music industry.
But he, like Kim, was left disappointed with the way Biggie’s mistress and protegee was shown in the Notorious film - because it failed to adequately detail her transition from being a sweet and sexy star to her eventual reputation as the "Queen B**ch".
And Jadakiss admits he also found fault with the portrayal of Biggie’s rap rival Tupac Shakur.
He tells WENN, "I think it (the movie) was about 70 per cent accurate. I agree with Kim, I think they did her character a little hard, you know what I mean? They just showed her going straight to the Queen B**ch instead of portraying her from Lil’ Kim, the little lady she was before she turned into Queen Bee, so I’m with Kim on that, they did her a little wrong.
"I also didn’t like Pac’s character. They did him a little happy, a little chipper, but, if you knew Pac – I didn’t know him personally – but just through his music, you knew he was different." Kim recently revealed she is working on her own biopic, in which she will set the record straight about the depth of her relationship with Biggie - and Jadakiss would jump at the chance to be a part of the project.
He adds, "Definitely, I got a lot of love for Kim. She’s been through a lot and she still remains a good, strong female artist, entrepreneur in the game."

KNOWLES LASHES OUT OVER BEYONCE’S ‘ALTERED’ VOCALS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:39 pm

BEYONCE’ father/manager has lashed out at critics doubting the singer’s vocal ability - after an "altered" recording of the star screeching along to one of her hits was aired on U.S. radio.
The singer’s "board mix" from a November (08) performance on America’s The Today Show was played by shock jock Howard Stern on Wednesday (22Apr09), and the audio quickly circulated the internet.
Fans were shocked to hear a voice purported to be Beyonce’s screeching a rendition of her hit tune If I Were a Boy into the mic.
But Mathew Knowles has slammed the singer’s critics and insists the recording has been tampered with.
In a statement to TMZ.com, he says, "If no one took the time to look at the biggest Inauguration in the history of America then shame on them. If no one took the time to listen to Beyonce sing America the Beautiful and At Last at the Neighborhood Ball for the first dance of President Obama and the First Lady, and they question Beyonce’s vocal ability, they’ve gotta be an idiot.
"At 12 years into her career, the last thing someone should be questioning is her vocal ability. That would be like questioning if Kobe Bryant could shoot a jump shot. The vocals were obviously altered."
