Pin-up CHANNING TATUM tested his pretty boy status on the set of new movie FIGHTING after breaking his nose in a punch-up.
The actor impressed cast and crew when he insisted on carrying on and then simply asked a medic to "pop" his nose back into shape.
Co-star Terrence Howard still winces at the memory: "I was having coffee with the stuntmen watching those fight scenes and they were real. Channing broke his nose and had the trainer pop it into place.
"It took 10 minutes to stop the blood, and then he went back and continued the fight. That�s how real it was.
"If it were me, Iâ��d call my manager, heâ��d call an ambulance and tell me to rest for a week! I donâ��t have that constitution." But Howard admits that wasn’t the case when he fractured his finger on the set of Hustle & Flow: "I broke it in a scene with Anthony Anderson and I wanted to go to the hospital, but I said, ‘Letâ��s keep on going.’ So I guess if you really believe in the character youâ��ll make those sacrifices."

Disney star DEMI LOVATO has called on U.S. education chiefs to take urgent action against school bullies - to curb teen suicides.
The 16 year old actress/singer was targeted by thugs in the classroom and eventually resorted to taking lessons at home to avoid her tormentors.
And now she has called on officials to act against the scourge of bullying after reading the heartbreaking story of an 11 year old victim who took his own life.
In a posting on the social networking website Twitter.com, Lovato writes: "THIS is what verbal harassment can cause. Something HAS to be done. It honestly amazes me how schools refuse to take action in verbal abuse… they SAY they do, but this (is) what ends up happening. So, so sad.
"I can’t explain what I went through when I left public school to start homeschooling. One day I will. But right now… Just know what you say to someone can effect (sic) them for the rest of their life."

ANNE HATHAWAY, WILLIAM SHATNER and BENJAMIN BRATT were among the winners at the 2009 Prism Awards, honouring Hollywood productions which raise awareness of drug-related issues.
The Los Angeles ceremony, which took place on Thursday (23Apr09), saw Hathaway praised for her role in Rachel Getting Married, in which she played a troubled drug addict.
Shatner was honoured for an episode of hit TV show Boston Legal, and Bratt was lauded for a multi-episode storyline on The Cleaner.
Other stars named for their good work include Desperate Housewives star Dana Delany and Grey’s Anatomy’s Chandra Wilson.
Several TV shows were also praised for accurate portrayals of mental health and addiction themes, including King of the Hill, Law & Order: SVU, and The Office.

Guitar great JEFF BECK had more surprises in store at his second El Rey Theatre concert in as many days when JOHN MAYER and JOSS STONE joined him onstage.
Former Jeff Beck Group bandmate Rod Stewart stunned the musician with an appearance on Tuesday night (21Apr09) and Mayer was on hand to play guest on Wednesday (22Apr09).
British singer Stone, who performed a rousing rendition of Sly & The Family Stone’s I Want To Take You Higher on Tuesday, stepped up onstage for an another encore on Wednesday.
Mayer joined the recent Rock & Roll Hall of Fame two-time inductee, for a soulful rendition of Manic Depression.

The actor is frustrated he only gets offered roles in teen comedies and musicals - but accepts he needs to earn the right to get meatier parts.
Efron tells GQ magazine "A guy I worked with recently told me, ‘You have to earn the right to hold a gun.’ And that completely made sense. Can you imagine me running around with a gun in a film? "I noticed the second I started that the things you want to be involved with are always just out of reach. Most parts you’d want, people won’t really consider you for, because you have to earn that respect."

BRITNEY SPEARS’ Circus tour is taking its toll on the pop superstar - high-energy dance routines are leaving her dizzy and nauseous, and costing her clumps of her hair.
In a new YouTube.com video of one of her most recent shows in North America, a suspended dancer clearly yanks off a handful of hair from Spears’ wig as he attempts to pull her into the air with him.
Meanwhile, insiders claim Spears is struggling with her energetic dance routines.
A source tells Britain’s The Mirror, "The choreography is insane - it’s so fast it is really taking its toll on her. There is one move during (the song) Touch Of My Hand, where two guys dangle from the ceiling and pick her up upside down, which is really getting to her.
"She spins around for nearly five minutes some nights. The blood rushes to her head and when she gets down she complains of nausea and dizziness. There have been a couple of times when she ran off stage and vomited."

New Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members METALLICA are to open St. Petersburg’s much-publicised new city stadium in 2010 as part of a whistle-stop Russian tour.
The heavy rockers are among the biggest draws ever in the former Soviet Union after performing for 60,000 music fans at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow in 2007 - and promoters are keen to get them back, offering the best venues.
Nadezhda Solovyova, who heads SAV Entertainment and Russky Show-Center, tells Blabbermouth.net, "We have already arranged a stadium concert and now we want to do something new. We want to arrange a concert for the entire Olimpiysky (venue) with a circle in the middle. They have a specially-designed project for such a stage."

DONNY OSMOND is set to make Scottish singing sensation SUSAN BOYLE’s dreams come true by recording a duet with her.
Frumpy Boyle became an overnight hit after wowing music mogul Simon Cowell and his fellow judges with her incredible singing voice on hit show Britain’s Got Talent earlier this month (Apr09).
And, after confessing that Osmond is the inspiration behind her singing skills, Boyle is now all set to meet her hero - and sing with him.
The Puppy Love hitmaker says, "I would die to do a duet with her." And Osmond would like to make the humble Scot a part of his Las Vegas Donny & Marie revue: "I would have her come up onstage and I would sing to her and I’d have her sing to me." Boyle is still competing in the British talent show, but when she completes her stint on TV she’s set for a big career - her performance on the programme has become the most viewed video ever on YouTube.

Movie bosses are marking THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES’ 25th anniversary, by taking the amphibian crime fighters back to the big screen.
The turtles are back in the limelight this week (ends24Apr09), as Tribeca Film Festival organisers celebrate their 1984 creation with a special bash in New York City.
The Empire State Building will be lit green on Thursday (23Apr09) in their honour, and a special screening will take place for fans who are invited to turn up dressed as Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Raphael and Donatello.
And it’ll be followed by a new movie, which is set for release in 2011, according to Variety.
Superman Returns producer Scott Mednick is behind the project, and he reveals the new film will focus on the original 1980s Turtles comic books.
Mednick tells Variety, "The original dozen comics created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman are some of the best source material one could hope for."

Groom-to-be SPENCER PRATT will make sure his bride looks like quarter-of-a-million dollars when they wed in Pasadena, California on Saturday (25Apr09) - he has bought her a cache of stunning Neil Lane jewellery.
It was reported that the The Hills star Heidi Montag’s necklaces, earrings and bracelets would be on-loan - but her generous fiance and co-star has treated her to them, according to America’s In Touch magazine.
Montag will wear a dress designed by Monique Lhuillier when the reality TV couple exchange vows and platinum rings in a ceremony at the Westminster Presbyterian Church.
There are still questions being asked about the authenticity of the nuptials - the couple staged a commitment ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in November (08) and refused to make the union a legal one upon their return to America.
And now sources tell In Touch that Saturday’s (25Apr09) wedding is nothing more than a phony ceremony for the series finale of The Hills.
An insider tells the publication, "It’s all set up by the producers of MTV to get people to watch. It’s just a plot line. They’re not really getting married." The magazine reports the wedding will be staged on a closed set with the entire The Hills cast in attendance.

TERRENCE HOWARD has assured IRON MAN 2 producers he won’t reveal the twists of the sequel - even though he’s bitter about not being a part of the film.
The actor has been outspoken about the issues that led to him being replaced by Don Cheadle in the new movie - and he has taken aim at producers, claiming they didn’t keep their word, adding, "They didn’t honour my contract." He admits he’s in a position to act as a spoiler for the franchise by revealing all about the storyline in the upcoming Marvel Comics sequel - but he won’t stoop so low.
Howard tells Parade magazine, "Don’t worry, Marvel. I’ve seen the script, I know what’s going to happen, but I’m not revealing anything.
"I believe in karma. When someone does something wrong, you don’t have to get them back. Everything right will return the favour for you." And he admits he’s looking forward to seeing the movie: "I want to see Don Cheadle become me. No, I want him to do better than me. That’s what I really want to see. Don Cheadle was the reason I got (movie) Crash, so I have a lot of love for him."

Late-night U.S. chat show host JAY LENO cancelled his Tonight Show on Thursday (23Apr09) after checking into a Los Angeles hospital.
The revered TV presenter was supposed to chat with actor Ryan Reynolds on his show, but the taping had to be halted after Leno was taken ill.
Insiders suggest Leno was suffering from food poisoning.
The health scare comes a month before the star ends his run as the host of The Tonight Show on 19 May (09).
A repeat was aired instead of the live show on Thursday night.
As WENN goes to press it’s understood Leno has been discharged from hospital and is resting at home.

MICHAEL JACKSON has found himself at the centre of hit-and-run allegations, after his driver allegedly smashed into an ambulance on his way to pick up the pop superstar from a Los Angeles hospital on Wednesday (22Apr09).
The singer’s chauffeur has been accused of sideswiping an ambulance and breaking off its wing mirror as he went to meet Jackson at Cedars Sinai Medical Center.
According to U.S. TV network NBC, the driver of the hospital vehicle watched as the man behind the wheel of a black SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) jumped out of the car and walked to the building’s entrance to greet Jackson, who climbed into the back of the waiting car, before speeding off.
The incident was reported to cops at the Beverly Hills Police Department, who have confirmed a hit-and-run accident occurred at around 3.20pm (local time) involving "a dark coloured SUV" that was "being followed by a group of paparazzi at the time of the collision…" However, authorities have yet to confirm the Thriller hitmaker’s involvement, stating "the suspect is unknown at this time".
No one was injured in the crash and police are currently investigating the incident, reports TMZ.com.
The reason behind Jackson’s hospital visit was unknown as WENN went to press, but the singer, who was wearing a surgical mask during the trip, has been plagued by rumours of ill health for months. Among the ailments internet gossips claim Jackson is suffering from are a flesh-eating infection and a deadly lung condition known as Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (A1AD).

SIR ELTON JOHN has bid farewell to fans in Las Vegas after playing the final show in his five-year residency on Wednesday night (22Apr09).
The hitmaker has been a regular fixture at the Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace since signing on for a three-year deal in February 2004.
John was scheduled to play 75 shows over that time period, but a further 166 concert dates were added due to popular demand.
He brought the curtain down on The Red Piano show this week, paying tribute to the other superstars who have also enjoyed extended runs at the Colosseum.
The singer wowed the crowds with hits like Candle in the Wind, Tiny Dancer and Rocket Man, earning him a standing ovation from fans after each song.
He told the audience, "The ex-home of Celine Dion… and now it’s the ex-home of Elton John as well.
"Who are you going to get to fill in our shoes now? You’ve got Bette Midler, you’ve got Cher. It’s gonna be the Village People next." But the five-time Grammy winner isn’t ruling out a return to the Vegas stage. As he closed the show with a rendition of Your Song, John said: "I really have enjoyed every single moment of this engagement. One day I might even see you in Vegas, OK? But until then, I love you."

British funnyman SACHA BARON COHEN has had the last laugh in a legal battle over his TV comedy DA ALI G SHOW - a judge has dismissed the lawsuit because "no reasonable person" can take the character seriously.
A woman sued the star over claims he defamed her during a sketch on the show in 2004.
She was referred to only as Jane Doe throughout the legal proceedings but has now been named as Heddi Cundle, a British woman who lives in the U.S.
Cundle, who met Cohen 20 years ago in Israel, took legal action after the comic used her name in a skit as wannabe rapper Ali G.
She sued for damages for slander and �infliction of emotional distress�.
But Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Terry Friedman dismissed the case in a hearing on Tuesday (22Apr09), telling the court the show was obviously a spoof made for entertainment purposes.
He says, "No reasonable person could consider the statements made by Ali G on the program to be factual. It is obvious that the Ali G character is absurd, and all his statements are gibberish and intended as comedy.
"The actor, Sacha Baron Cohen, never strays from the Ali G character, who is dressed in a ridiculous outfit and speaks in the exaggerated manner of a rap artist. Ali G�s statements are similarly absurd. The program is obviously a spoof of a serious interview program. No reasonable person could think otherwise." Cohen has faced a variety of legal troubles over his comic creations, including a string of lawsuits from members of the public who alleged they were duped into appearing in his 2006 film Borat: Cultural Learnings Of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhstan. Two of the cases were dismissed by the courts last year (08).
