SICK JACKMAN MISSED BLAIR MEETING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:57 am

HUGH JACKMAN once missed the chance to meet former British prime minister TONY BLAIR - because he was too busy vomiting.
The X-Men actor starred in the 1998 London production of musical Oklahoma! and during his run at the National Theatre, the leading politician made a special trip to see the show.
But the Australian actor had been struck down with a migraine - and spent most of the performance rushing off stage to be sick.
And the illness meant the star was confined to the bathroom when he was supposed to be meeting the ex-Labour party chief after the show.
He tells Britain’s FHM magazine, "I remember having a migraine when Tony Blair came to see Oklahoma!. I was going into the wings and throwing up whenever I was off stage, and afterwards Tony Blair came backstage to meet the cast, and of course I was throwing up."

ROGEN SHUNS LIFE AS AN ACTION MAN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:51 am

Funnyman SETH ROGEN hates the idea of becoming a Hollywood superstar - insisting fans seeing him as a sex symbol makes him "feel sick".
The writer/actor has moved away from his comedy roots with a turn in upcoming superhero movie The Green Hornet - but has turned down a string of other lucrative offers which all promised to promote him to the A-list.
Rogen insists he will never abandon funny films to become an all-star action hero and puts his decision down to his disgust at the excesses of the showbiz lifestyle.
He tells British magazine FHM, "Just the other day I was offered a big part in the new action film by the director of The Day After Tomorrow. But I don’t want to become the kind of superstar who parties all the time, does coke and throws up in the back of a limo. And the idea of me being seen as a sex symbol makes me feel sick. For me, my main goal is simple, to write the kind of comedy that me and my friends would instantly throw money down to see."

MALKOVICH DECLINES STARRING ROLE ON BROADWAY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:48 am

Actor JOHN MALKOVICH has turned down an offer to star in a Broadway production of THE GOOD CANARY - because he’d rather spend more time with his family.
Malkovich admits he’s in talks to direct the New York theatre version of the play - about a novelist whose wife suffers from mental problems - which he’s already helmed in Paris, France and Mexico.
But the star insists he’d cast another actor to take the lead in the Broadway show, because taking on a rigorous starring role would be unfair to his family.
He tells the New York Post, "I just turned down a Broadway play. Look, I haven’t lived in New York (for) over 20 years. I live in Massachusetts." Instead, Malkovich’s clan will join him in Austria this summer (09) for a family getaway as he undertakes a new play.
He adds, "I have kids at home who don’t want to leave their friends and move, except they will when I’m in Vienna this summer doing The Infernal Comedy. They’ll come because they love the sausage. I live a quiet life in a very relaxed place. We don’t go out much. One son’s in Cambridge, my 16-year-old’s a junior in high school. I’m involved with their schooling. This is probably my son’s last year at home."

SCORSESE’S DAUGHTER EYES A NEW MOVIE WITH HER DAD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:48 am

Actress-turned-director DOMENICA CAMERON-SCORSESE is looking to team up with her legendary father MARTIN SCORSESE on the big screen once more - so she can show off her skills as a filmmaker.
Cameron-Scorsese was a star at 15 when the iconic moviemaker cast her in his 1991 thriller Cape Fear.
She went on to land a role in his 1993 romantic drama The Age of Innocence, but the father-daughter pair have not worked together since.
The 32-year-old admits she’s keen to re-establish a professional relationship with her Oscar-winning dad - but this time she’d be behind the camera too.
She tells WENN, "It’s a funny thing, I avoided directing for quite some time and actually I loved acting and that’s something that the more I fell in love with, the more I found there were stories that I wanted to tell myself.
"I loved getting to work with him when I was younger and I think it’s every actress’ dream to work with him. He’s incredibly supportive. But you know, we’ll see (about working together again), we’ll both be off making movies hopefully."

‘HEROIC’ NEESON’S WORK ETHIC PRAISED BY DIRECTOR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:48 am

Widower LIAM NEESON has been hailed a "hero" for returning to work just days after the death of his actress wife, NATASHA RICHARDSON.
The Taken star halted filming on the Canadian set of Chloe last month (16Mar09) after Richardson was rushed to a specialist New York hospital following a skiing accident on the slopes of Mont Tremblant in Montreal.
She failed to regain consciousness from a traumatic brain injury and passed away two days later (18Mar09).
Richardson was buried near the family home in upstate New York on 22 March (09), but instead of taking an extended period of leave to grieve his loss, Neeson decided to head back to work and finish the movie shoot.
And Chloe director Atom Egoyan is full of admiration for the brave actor.
He tells ET Canada, "He called me and said, ‘You know, let’s do it right away’. It was really emotional. I think the only way he could have come back was right after because his family was all there to support his boys.
"Liam is heroic. He came back and finished." But Egoyan insists father-of-two Neeson is still struggling to come to terms with life without Richardson: "(He’s) in a state of shock. I think he’s trying to absorb (what’s happened). He’s suddenly a single parent with absolutely no preparation for that. (But he) is surrounded by people that really love him. There is a lot of support."

SIMPSON SENDS A CAR FOR JAILED GARRISON

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:00 am

Actor LANE GARRISON will be released from prison next week (29Apr09) and JESSICA SIMPSON will be there to greet him.
The Prison Break star has signed his early-release papers after getting paroled for good behaviour - and childhood pal Simpson has reportedly arranged for his pick-up at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego, California.
According to In Touch magazine, the singer/actress hasn’t visited Garrison since he was sentenced to serve 40 months behind bars due to security risks, but sources insist she has been in contact with her old friend.
The actor was locked up for a December 2006 drink driving incident, which resulted in the death of a 17-year-old passenger.
Garrison pleaded guilty to charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol after the 2006 smash in California which killed Vahagn Setian and left two 15-year-old girls seriously injured. The actor was ferrying the teenagers home after a Hollywood party when he lost control of his vehicle.
Garrison recently settled a civil suit with Setian’s parents and crash survivor Michelle Ohana, who spent two months in a wheelchair following the accident.
Officials at the California Department of Corrections have confirmed Garrison is to be released after earning good behaviour credits.

SHEENS OPENS UP ABOUT TWINS’ MEDICAL PROBLEMS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:00 am

CHARLIE SHEEN insists his baby son MAX is "gradually going toward normal" after a health scare earlier this month (Apr09).
After the tot was kept behind when twin brother Bob left hospital, rumours circulated that Sheen’s son had a heart condition and was fighting for his life, but the actor was quick to dismiss the stories, and now he has spoken about his sons’ first weeks as part of a TV news show.
He and wife Brooke Mueller Sheen invited news show Entertainment Tonight into their home to talk about the stress and strain of the twins’ premature birth.
The actor admits there was some truth to the heart condition stories - but it wasn’t quite as serious as the media suggested.
He explains, "Max has something called ejection fracture. It’s the volume at which the heart pumps and how much blood the heart can pump. There wasn’t anything that any other premature child, especially a twin, doesn’t normally go through.
"The reason he had to stay longer in the hospital than Bob was a weight issue." But his wife admits she was shocked when she first saw the newborns tied up with tubes and monitors: "It was scary. I went to see them and words can’t express how amazing and shocking (it is) to see two human beings that came out of me. But I was scared. Our babies had so many tubes on them, it was frightening." And Sheen reveals they had no choice but to bring the birth forward because his wife was suffering from preeclampsia, gestational diabetes and cholestasis.
He says, "She would have been in serious jeopardy had they stayed in longer." Max and Bob were born on 14 March (09).

LOHAN’S DAD FIRES BACK AT CHEATING ALLEGATIONS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:57 pm

LINDSAY LOHAN’s angry dad has fired back at her allegations he cheated on his ex-wife, her mother DINA.
The actress made the claims about her father Michael’s infidelity during a taped interview with U.S. TV talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, which aired on Thursday (23Apr09) - and he has been quick to dismiss them.
Even before the show aired, Michael Lohan went public with his comments following Mean Girls star Lindsay’s confession she "watched my father do that (cheat) to my mother my entire life".
He tells news show Extra, "It disturbs me that… (she) accuses me of cheating on her mother when I only did so when Dina and I were separated." And he urges his daughter to pay more attention to her ongoing substance abuse recovery and career - and stop taking aim at him.
Michael, a born-again Christian adds, "She still continues to take the focus off of herself.
"I truly believe that if she involves the right people in her life and does the right thing, her life and career will be back in order and come to even higher levels than it has before. I love her, I have faith in her and I know God is working in her life. I’m happy to see that she is getting back on the right track."

ANDERSON ASKS PUTIN FOR HELP IN SEAL SLAUGHTER BAN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:57 pm

PAMELA ANDERSON has written a personal plea to Russian leader VLADIMIR PUTIN, asking the Prime Minister to help her ban the slaughter of baby seals in her native Canada.
Putin was recently applauded by animal lovers all over the world for overseeing a ban on the hunting of young harp seals, and now Anderson has asked him to urge Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper to follow his lead.
Anderson, a longtime animal rights activist and PETA spokesperson, claims the Canadian government will allow seal hunters to brutally beat and skin approximately 338,200 seals this year.
In her letter to Putin, obtained by WENN via PETA, she writes, "The Canadian government has refused to budge on this issue, despite widespread protests and international bans on the trade in baby seal skins.
"I collected thousands of signatures myself and personally delivered the petition to parliament, to no avail. The government is sacrificing not only the seals but also worldwide goodwill by going against the wishes of most Canadians, Europeans, Russians, and others.
"You have been quoted as saying that seal hunting is ‘a bloody industry that should have been banned long ago’. I couldn’t agree more. Please use your influence with Prime Minister Harper to help us stop the senseless slaughter of baby seals once and for all."

LOHAN: ‘GOSSIP IS HOLDING MY CAREER BACK’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:54 pm

Gossip and controversy swirling around LINDSAY LOHAN is costing the actress a career comeback - because studio bosses are wary about working with her.
The Mean Girls star reveals one major movie project has already been put on hold because producers believe what they read about Lohan’s supposed eating disorder, drug abuse and post-romance meltdown.
Appearing on Thursday’s (23Apr09) Ellen show in America, the actress said, "I had a really good opportunity with an amazing actor and it’s been put on hold because of this coverage that’s been coming out.
"I didn’t get into this to be a celebrity on the cover of tabloids and I’ve been a target and I’m not that interesting but it’s distracting; it distracts people, studio heads, everyone - they get nervous.
"But I’m ready to work and I’m responsible." Reports about Lohan’s mental health have been rampant since before she split from girlfriend Samantha Ronson last month (Mar09), but Lohan insists she’s OK - and friends like fellow actress Natalie Portman are helping her focus on her career.
Lohan added, "I have some really great friends. Natalie Portman’s been there for me through everything."
