FOXX OFFERED HOWARD VIDEO CAMEO AT OBAMA’S INAUGURATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:09 am

Moviemaker RON HOWARD was shocked to be offered a cameo role in one of JAMIE FOXX’s music videos - because he was busy celebrating U.S. President BARACK OBAMA’s inauguration at the time.
Howard was enjoying the Democrat’s induction into office in January (09), when he was approached by the singer to star in the video for Blame It, alongside other actors Forrest Whittaker, Jake Gyllenhaal and Samuel L. Jackson.
But Howard was wary of accepting the offer - because he was worried he wouldn’t be able to play the role of a party animal.
He tells EW.com, "We were at the inauguration and there was this tent full of showbiz people and their families. Jamie came over and said, ‘Hey, I’m shooting a video in Los Angeles, will you come by?’ I was picturing a sort of ‘We Are The World’ thing.
"So I showed up, and Jamie said, ‘It’s this party scene, and you’re going to drive up with Jake Gyllenhaal and Forest Whitaker and me. The only thing is that you’ve got to wear your party face.’ I said, ‘I don’t think you want my party face, because this is it. That may not be what you want.’ Jamie and the director, Hype Williams, said, ‘No, we want your game face, very serious.’ "So we’re getting ready to roll and all we hear from the director is, ‘Uh, hey Ron, no smiling, remember, real serious, real serious,’ and, ‘RON, NO SMILING, NO SMILING,’ and, ‘RON, NO SMILING!’ and, ‘ACTION!’ So we did that a couple of times, and then we went in and sat with the girls and toasted champagne.
"I had no idea what in the world it was or what I was doing. I do not have a secret night-clubbing side. I’m the opposite of a big pimpin’ kind of dude. Probably the last time I was in a club was doing research for Night Shift in 1981."

PINK ANNOYED BY TRENDY ‘CIRCUS’ THEME

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:06 am

Pop singer PINK regrets staging a circus-themed show for her ongoing world tour - because she’s been plagued by comparisons to BRITNEY SPEARS.
The So What hitmaker is taking her Funhouse world tour Stateside this summer (09) and has been bombarded by critics accusing her of copying Spears - who launched her own Circus tour in the U.S. in March (09).
Both singers based their themes on the title of their latest albums and feature high-flying dancers, acrobats and wild acts in their stage shows.
But Pink, whose album debuted last year (08) just weeks before Spears’ release, insists she was oblivious to the trend.
She says, "Had I known that certain other people were going to base their latest thing about circus things, I probably would have went into another direction. I was six months before that and didn’t really understand that it was a trend that was happening. I’m pretty out of the loop."

AIRLINE EMPLOYEE DISCIPLINED AFTER MADDEN TATTOO FIGHT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 pm

The airline employee who forced JOEL MADDEN to cover up his tattoos has been disciplined by his bosses, who are furious about the bad publicity the stunt has caused.
Madden was outraged when a British Airways employee refused to allow him to board a flight from Chicago to London on Monday (27Apr09), until he hid his body art from other passengers.
The Good Charlotte rocker posted a message online from the plane, expressing his outrage. He wrote on Twitter.com, "Was just told by a british air (sic) person I can’t get on the plane till I cover my tatts.
"I really actually am in shock." And BA bosses are equally baffled - because there’s nothing in the rulebook about tattoos.

HINES BATTLED EMOTIONS DIRECTING SHELLY’S MOVIE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 pm

CHERYL HINES had mixed emotions about her new movie SERIOUS MOONLIGHT - she was delighted to wrap her directorial debut, but sad friend and screenwriter ADRIENNE SHELLY was not there to share in the celebrations.
Shelly, who befriended actress/director Hines on the set of Waitress, was found dead in her New York apartment in 2006. Construction worker and illegal immigrant Diego Pillco later confessed to the killing and was sentenced to 25 years behind bars last year (08).
The project stars Meg Ryan as a spurned wife who holds her husband captive after he declares he’s leaving her for a younger woman.
Hines was approached to helm the film by Shelly’s widower Andrew Ostroy months after the tragedy. But the Curb Your Enthusiasm star admits she had no idea how difficult it would be battling her emotions on set.
However, Hines is confident Shelly would be happy with the final product.
She tells WENN, "It was challenging because we couldn’t make any changes to the script because Adrienne wasn’t with us creatively, but what was even more challenging was she wasn’t there personally.
"So at times it was very difficult, at other times we were so focused on making our day and trying to make a good film because at the end of the day, that’s what Adrienne would have wanted, for us to make the best film we could. So we were focused on that but once in a while, you would be overcome by the feeling, ‘Oh, Adrienne’s not here’, but we really feel this is something Adrienne would be proud of."
