ROGERS & HAMMERSTEIN ORGANIZATION AGREES TO MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR SALE
A Dutch music publishing company has purchased the rights to the songs and musicals of legendary team RICHARD ROGERS and OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN for a reported $300 million (£206 million).
Bosses at The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization confirmed on Monday (20Apr09) a sale agreement had been signed with the Imagem Music Group for an undisclosed price.
Insiders estimate the sale was for as much as $300 million, according to the New York Daily News.
The group now owns the rights to popular stage and film musicals including Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I, and The Sound of Music.
