MARIANNE FAITHFULL’s on/off boyfriend FRANCOIS RAVARD has been arrested after an airport row allegedly turned violent.
The 61-year-old singer and her French partner were due to board a plane at London’s Gatwick airport on Friday (17Apr09) to fly to Italy ahead of a planned concert on Saturday (18Apr09).
But after being informed they were carrying an excessive amount of luggage, Ravard, 51, is said to have become angry, leading to concerns amongst British Airways staff that he was too "intoxicated" to fly.
He is then alleged to have lashed out at the airport’s duty manager, who had been brought in to calm the situation.
Police attended the scene and Ravard was arrested, while Faithfull was also questioned by cops.
The singer was later released and allowed to board the flight.
A British Airways spokesman tells U.K. newspaper the Daily Mirror, "A male customer became aggressive and abusive at check-in when he was refused travel on a flight from Gatwick to Bologna. He appeared to be intoxicated at check-in.
"In such circumstances an assessment is made as to whether the passenger is fit to travel. When he was refused travel, he became physically and verbally abusive. Police were called and he was arrested. Such behaviour will not be tolerated." A police spokesman confirmed the incident, but revealed they will not be pressing charges against Ravard: �A 51-year-old man from Paris was cautioned for assault on a British Airways staff member.� The couple - who have been together for 15 years - was recently said to have split after Faithfull announced in an interview that the relationship "broke up".

ZAC EFRON will eat almost anything for $20 (£13.30) - and boasts about scoffing bugs and slimy seafood.
The always hungry High School Musical hunk insists very little is disgusting to his palate - and he’ll try anything once.
He says, "In Mexico I had crickets… It’s like a dish over there… It was like the most expensive thing on the menu.
"And also they have larvae, the flies… It’s great, it’s really good. It’s lemon and salt. It tasted like pasta." And he puts his adventurous tastebuds down to culinary dares his dad set him when he was a kid: "My dad always took me to get sushi and one time we were in San Francisco… and there was this octopus - it was, like, alive, wiggling on the plate.
"My dad was all, ‘I’ll give you $20 if you eat that.’ I was like, ‘Bring it on, man.’ So I ate it. It was like a cherry tomato. It popped. It was great… I’d still eat about anything for $20."

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL star ZAC EFRON dreads running into ANGELINA JOLIE on the red carpet - because he gets tongue-tied whenever he is around the Hollywood beauty.
The 21-year-old has met the Tomb Raider star on several occasions and admits he always gets embarrassed when she tries to strike up a conversation with him.
He says, "(I always) screw up. I don’t know why. It’s just awkward. I can’t really explain it. Last time I saw her was at the Oscars. She asked how I was doing. I said, ‘Thank you’ then turned around and walked away. Everyone started laughing and pointing at me."

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY used his appearance at California’s Coachella music festival on Friday (17Apr09) to pay tribute to his late wife LINDA - who died 11 years ago to the day.
The Beatles legend took to the stage to headline the first night of the legendary music event in Indio, California, which runs until Sunday (19Apr09).
Friday’s date had extra significance to the star as his beloved first wife lost her battle with cancer on 17 April 1998.
And McCartney used the opportunity to pay tribute to his late partner, dedicating his song Foxy Lady to her memory and telling the crowd, "It’s an emotional day for me. That’s good, that’s OK. Lot of heart, lot of emotion."

HUGH JACKMAN accidentally stabbed a stuntwoman in the arm while filming the first X-MEN movie - during a fight scene as his clawed character WOLVERINE.
The Australian actor had to wear real metal talons while filming the 2000 comic book blockbuster and admits handling the prop was quite dangerous.
Jackman recalls one incident which left Rebecca Romijn’s stunt double seriously hurt - forcing moviemakers to rethink how to film the scenes involving the superhero’s famous claws.
He says, "On the very first film we had real metal claws and the girl who was playing Mystique, Rebecca Romijn, her stunt double and I were doing a fight sequence in the Statue of Liberty. I went to stab her in the arm, which was part of the choreography, and she’s meant to move her arm away and she forgot and the thing went right into her arm, like an inch.
"I was stunned. It was one of those things, it was so deep, there was a hole, there was no blood coming out and then like a minute later, it was like a geyser. I didn’t faint and I thought she was going to freak out, but she just said, ‘Yes! I have been stabbed by Wolverine!’ Typical stuntwoman." And Jackman admits that subsequent efforts to prevent him using real metal claws were not particularly successful - and even involved him using a fake limb with one arm tucked behind his back. The prop was only used in one scene before it was discarded.
Jackman’s latest outing as the superhero, X-Men Origins: Wolverine hits cinemas on 1 May (09).

Funnyman SACHA BARON COHEN has reportedly apologised to MADONNA for mocking her in his new movie BRUNO - sending the singer flowers and a sympathetic note in light of her recent adoption troubles.
The movie tells the story of an outrageous gay Austrian fashion correspondent hoping to make it big in Hollywood, and one scene featured the character joking about stars who adopt foreign children.
The actor collects an African baby out of a box on an airport baggage carousel before turning to the camera and saying, "Angelina’s got one, Madonna’s got one, now Bruno’s got one." Madonna welcomed Malawian tot David Banda into her family in 2006 but recently had her application to adopt three-year-old Mercy James turned down by a court in the country.
And Cohen is now said to have reached out to the star to apologise for his jokes about the sensitive situation, according to British newspaper the Daily Mirror.
A source tells the publication, "Sacha is always out to make great comedy - and if he upsets people along the way, so be it. But when word reached him that Madonna thought his sketch was insensitive, he sent her a bouquet of flowers to say, ‘No hard feelings’." Cohen and Madonna are said to have been pals since the singer invited him to star in the video for her 2000 hit Music.

A host of British pop stars, including GABRIELLE, LULU and rockers THE AUTOMATIC will perform at a special festival to raise money for injured servicemen and women later this year (09).
The Royal British Legion’s Festival For Heroes will take place at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, England on 20 June (09).
The event will also feature rapper Ironik, dance troupe Ultrabeat and classical quartet Escala - with organisers also hoping to attract Sir Elton John for a guest appearance.
Rise hitmaker Gabrielle says, "I am very honoured to have been asked to perform. It is an amazing cause and deserves as much support as possible." Proceeds from the 30,000-strong crowd will go to help those injured in wars such as Iraq or Afghanistan, and to families of those killed on duty.

DEPECHE MODE singer DAVE GAHAN wakes up every night at 4.15am - the exact time he ‘died’ from a drug overdose 13 years ago.
The Enjoy The Silence star, 46, was famed for his wild ways during the chart-toppers’ heyday.
But Gahan’s partying nearly cost him his life in 1996, when his heart stopped for two minutes following an overdose of heroin and cocaine.
Doctors were able to revive the star and his near-death experience forced him to reconsider his hedonistic lifestyle.
Gahan tells German newspaper Bild he still wakes up every night at the same time, seeing it as a gentle reminder of his good fortunes.
He says, "I look at my watch and know in advance what the time will be. I think somebody wants to remind me that I have a good life - and it’s not for me to decide when it ends.
"What I did in the past was a big mistake. I knew this instinctively when I neared death. Today I’m grateful I survived." Gahan has since recovered from his addictions, and now lives with his wife, Jennifer, and their two children in New York.

British rocker MORRISSEY halted his performance at California’s Coachella music festival on Friday (17Apr09) to protest against members of the audience who were eating meat.
The former Smiths frontman, a staunch vegetarian, was disgusted by the smell of barbecued meat wafting over the crowd at the Indio, California event.
And halfway through his set, the star stopped mid-song and walked off stage, telling the audience, "I can smell burning flesh and I hope to God it’s human." A few minutes later the star returned and re-started his performance, adding, "The smell of burning animals is making me sick. I just couldn’t bear it."

VAL KILMER has put his sprawling New Mexico ranch estate on the market for a whopping $33 million (£22 million).
The actor’s Santa Fe home of over 20 years comes with 6,000 acres and six miles (9.65 kilometres) of the Pecos River.

Actress JANUARY JONES regrets embarking on an ill-fated modelling career as a teenager - because the experience left her $20,000 (£14,000) in debt.
The 31-year-old Mad Men star became a model at the age of 18, leaving her home in South Dakota for a life in New York.
But Jones admits she was never happy in front of the camera - and is glad she decided to leave the catwalk behind to become an actress.
She says, "The modelling company screwed me over. By the time I left and headed to L.A. they told me I owed them $20,000. I never really took modelling seriously. I didn’t diet or lose weight. It wasn’t something I was passionate enough about to warrant altering my appearance for."

THE WIRE star DOMINIC WEST is to take a break from filming the hit U.S. TV show to return to the London theatre scene - with a role in a West End play.
The British actor won a coveted Ian Charleson award in 1996 for his performance in Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull.
And now, after carving out a successful career in America, West is set to return to his roots with a role in a new adaptation of Life Is A Dream by 17th century Spanish playwright Pedro Calderon de la Barca.

HULK HOGAN’s daughter BROOKE has come to her father’s defence after he was accused of likening his ongoing divorce battle to O.J. SIMPSON’s murder trial.
The former wrestler was forced to clarify comments he made in a new Rolling Stone magazine interview after causing a stir with his thoughts about the disgraced sports star.
Simpson, now in jail on an armed robbery conviction, was acquitted of killing his wife Nicole and her friend Ron Goldman in 1993, but, like many people, Hogan thinks the fallen sports hero got away with murder - and in the new article he admitted he can understand what drives a man to kill his wife after battling his ex Linda in the divorce courts.
But Hogan’s daughter, Brooke, is adamant her father’s words have been twisted by the press - insisting the star would never say anything so inflammatory.
She tells ETonline, "I cannot believe how blown out of proportion one small part of a seven-page article has become. It’s a classic case of a quote being taken out of context. I look up to my father in every way. He has been through so much and has taken the high road through it all. The idea that he would condone the O.J. situation is just outrageous."

A superfan who ignored a restraining order taken out against her by actor/director TYLER PERRY has been arrested in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dawne Wilson was caught by police outside the star’s production studios on Wednesday (15Apr09).
Perry obtained the restraining order against Wilson, claiming she is "very dangerous".
The woman was taken into custody and charged with felony aggravated stalking.

RUPERT EVERETT has vehemently denied accusations he has undergone cosmetic surgery - following a string of internet rumours suggesting he had a facelift.

The image has fuelled speculation that Everett, 49, has resorted to drastic measures in a bid to gain a more youthful appearance.

Tennis star ANDY RODDICK wed his fiancee BROOKLYN DECKER in a twilight ceremony at his home in Texas on Friday (17Apr09).
The couple exchanged vows in an intimate candlelit setting in front of friends and family in Austin.
During the ceremony, guests - including tennis greats Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi - were treated to a performance by the star’s longtime pal Sir Elton John.
The nuptials were followed by a reception at Roddick’s local country club, according to People.com.
Roddick, 26, has been dating the 21-year-old swimsuit model since 2007.
The wedding comes a month after Roddick’s ex-girlfriend, Mandy Moore, married rocker Ryan Adams.
