R&B singer RIHANNA has booked her first live stage show since her alleged altercation with ex-boyfriend CHRIS BROWN in February (09) - in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The couple was involved in a well-publicised fight in Los Angeles in the early hours of 8 February (09), which reportedly left Rihanna battered and bruised - and prompted both singers to pull out of their performances for the Grammy Awards that night.
Rihanna made her return to the recording studio just days after the incident, and now she’s working on a stage show in the Middle East, scheduled for 28 May (09) at a venue to be determined Promoter Yassin Matbouly says, "We have been working to bring Rihanna to the region for a while now but it has never been the right time for one reason or another. This time everything worked out and the gig will more than likely be the last outdoor concert before the summer - and one not to miss." Brown was arraigned on two felony charges of assault and making criminal threats earlier this month (06Apr09).
He will return before a judge for a preliminary hearing on 29 April (09), and faces nearly five years behind bars if convicted.

SAMANTHA RONSON has sent her ex-girlfriend LINDSAY LOHAN her best wishes in a bid to silence rumours their break-up was a bitter one.
The DJ split from Lohan in March (09) and reports have suggested Ronson’s family is seeking to file a restraining order against the Mean Girls star.
But Ronson has played down talk of tension between the pair and insists she has nothing but good wishes for the actress.
She tells People magazine, "I don’t talk about my personal life, but I will say that any rumours that I hate Lindsay are false. She’s an amazing girl, and I wish her all the best. It’s not that dramatic."

Country trio RASCAL FLATTS have become the most successful U.S. album chart act of the decade after scoring a fourth number one.
No other act has achieved so many chart-toppers in the past nine years of the new century.
The group’s sixth album, Unstoppable, debuts at one with 351,000 sales.
The Dave Matthews Band, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Staind and System of a Down all have three number one albums this decade, according to Billboard.com.
The Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack jumps back up the chart from five to two, while Jadakiss (The Last Kiss) and Jason Aldean (Wide Open) crash into the top five at three and four respectively.
Last week’s number one, Keith Urban’s Defying Gravity, could do anything but, falling to seven on the new countdown.

MADONNA’s bid to adopt a second child from Malawi has been blasted by her former cook, who accuses the superstar of ignoring the three children she already has.
The Material Girl is currently mounting an appeal after a judge turned down her attempt to adopt three year old Mercy James from the African nation earlier this month (Apr09).
But Eric Ienco, who once worked for Madonna as her cook and house manager, claims the 50-year-old star should spend more time with her three kids Lourdes, 12, Rocco, eight and adopted three-year-old David, instead of dedicating all her spare time to keeping fit.
Ienco tells the National Enquirer, "When she’s with the children, she is a devoted mum. She just doesn’t spend much time with them.
"It’s a puzzle why she wants to adopt again. She’s hardly ever with her children. She’s got two full-time nannies and one part-time nanny. So why adopt a kid when somebody else is raising them? "She gets up and has a coffee, then she does two hours of yoga. Then there’s two hours of pilates and exercise. That’s six days a week. After that she deals with her email, her calls and the rest of her business. And after that, she spends maybe half an hour with the kids.
"Madonna puts herself before the kids. When she adopted little David, he arrived at her home from Africa, and three hours later, she left to do pilates. Wouldn’t you think she’d want to spend the entire day with her new son?" He also blames David’s adoption in 2006 for wrecking Madonna’s marriage to director Guy Ritchie, whom she divorced last year (08).
Ienco adds, "Madonna thought (David) would bring them together, but Guy was dead against adopting, so, for the marriage, it was the final nail in the coffin."

Rapper/producer LIL’ JON is begging teenage girls to stop calling his new cellphone, after discovering he’s been given MILEY CYRUS’ old number.
The star was baffled when he splashed out on a new phone and was instantly bombarded with screaming kids desperate to speak to the teen superstar.

Actress MAXINE COOPER GOMBERG has died at her home in Los Angeles. She was 84.
Best known for playing fictional private eye Mickey Spillane’s secretary in 1955 film noir classic Kiss Me Deadly, Gomberg - then known as Maxine Cooper - was also a social activist.
She died of natural causes on 4 April (09).
Moviemaker Robert Aldrich cast the actress in Kiss Me Deadly after seeing her in a Los Angeles theatrical production of Peer Gynt. She also had small roles in the director’s films Autumn Leaves and What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?

HEROES villain ZACHARY QUINTO had to crop his famous eyebrows to play MR. SPOCK in the new STAR TREK movie.
The actor is famous for his bushy brows, but director J.J. Abrams insisted they had to go if he was to play the sci-fi Vulcan.

I like its people a lot and they have very good coffee." The identity of the actor/director’s female companion is not known, but Russian pop star Oksana Pochepa, 24, recently claimed she was the mystery bikini babe in candid beach shots taken in Costa Rica last month (Mar09).
The singer has announced she is in love with Gibson after allegedly conducting an affair with the actor that ended his marriage.

MARIAH CAREY has shot down reports she is undergoing fertility treatment to help her become pregnant.

CHRIS CORNELL has changed his mind about reuniting his former band SOUNDGARDEN - insisting he’d "never count out" the idea.

Fallen Latin pop star GLORIA TREVI has filed a defamation lawsuit against bosses at a Mexican TV network, accusing them of spreading lies about her to ruin her chances of making a comeback.
The star spent almost five years in jail awaiting trial on charges of kidnapping, rape and corruption of minors; she was acquitted in 2004 because of a lack of evidence.
But Trevi claims executives at TV Azteca, its U.S. affiliate Azteca America, and Pati Chapoy, host of popular entertainment news show Ventaneando, launched a campaign to discredit her and wreck her chances of making a successful return to the spotlight by starting rumours about her - including claims she had been spotted with a notorious drug cartel leader.
She filed legal papers in Hidalgo County district court on Tuesday (14Apr09) for slander, libel and defamation, among other charges.
Requests for a comment from Azteca America and TV Azteca had not been returned as WENN went to press.
Trevi is seeking unspecified damages in the suit.
