HARRIS TURNED DOWN GAGA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:51 am

In-demand Scottish producer/DJ CALVIN HARRIS turned down the chance to work with LADY GAGA before she hit it big - because he didn’t like her name.
Harris, who is planning to work with Katy Perry this summer (09), admits he was not impressed by the Just Dance star when she asked to work with him last year (08).
He says, "When Lady GaGa first came out, her name rang a bell, so I checked my emails - and it turns out that on January 1, 2008, I got an email asking to work with her.
"I thought, ‘Lady GaGa, what sort of name is that?’ So I replied saying, ‘Nah, I’m not into that.’ Fast forward a year and she’s the biggest thing. But I don’t regret turning her down as I didn’t think the song I heard then was that good."

  • BRITISH ROCKERS CAUGHT UP IN TUNISIA SATANIST ROW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:48 am

British rockers ANATHEMA’s recent efforts to perform live in Tunis, Tunisia failed after city officials scrapped shows at a cathedral and hotel over their fears the band would lure satanists to the concerts.
The plug was pulled on a sold-out show in a holy house last weekend (04Apr09), and when the band attempted to reschedule the gig at their hotel, that was cancelled too.
A spokesman for the band says, "Somebody informed the Tunisian interior ministry that Anathema are Satan worshippers who eat black cats and drink their blood. The ministry have requested song lyrics to peruse over the weekend in order to put their minds at rest." Band member Danny Cavanagh tells the Liverpool Echo newspaper, "If you read any of our lyrics, you’ll see nothing could be further from the truth than what’s been said. We don’t even swear in our songs. A lot of lyrics are about healing and light and are very positive.
"We’re just normal lads, the last band you could accuse of Satanism. I think all it was was a rival promoter using any means he could to get the show cancelled." The band hopes to return to Tunisia in June (09) to reschedule the cathedral show.

  • SPECTOR FREE FOR EASTER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:48 am

Record producer PHIL SPECTOR remains an innocent man for the spring holiday after jurors in his murder retrial failed to reach a verdict in court on Friday (10Apr09), before the Easter recess.
Media groups thought a decision was imminent when the panel agreed to meet briefly on Good Friday after deliberations were cut short by illness on Thursday (09Apr09), but the two-hour get together ended without incident.
The panel is expected to resume deliberations on Monday (13Apr09). Jurors were handed the case following lengthy closing arguments on 26 March (09).
Spector is accused of shooting actress Lana Clarkson at his Alhambra, California mansion in 2003.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler has told jurors they can consider convicting Spector of involuntary manslaughter instead of second-degree murder - an option not available during Spector’s first trial, which left the jury deadlocked 10-to-two in favour of conviction in September 2007.
Spector, who remains free on bail, maintains Clarkson shot herself.

  • THORNTON’S BAND SCRAPS TOUR AFTER BAD GIG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:48 am

BILLY BOB THORNTON has scrapped the remainder of his North American dates as support to WILLIE NELSON after fans booed him onstage at a Toronto show on Thursday night (09Apr09).
The Oscar winner upset Canadian fans by appearing to attack them in a radio interview earlier this week (ends10Apr09), and even though he insisted his comments were aimed at a DJ he fell out with on air, those at the Massey Hall show refused to believe him.
Thornton insisted his "mashed potatoes with no gravy" comment was not anti-Canadian, adding, "Boo all you want, but I want to say something - we’re really happy to be here." But, following the bad gig, the actor/writer and his band, The Boxmasters, have reportedly pulled the plug on other dates.
A post on Willie Nelson’s official website on Friday reads, "At this time, no reasons have been announced but the remainder of the tour will continue as scheduled without The Boxmasters."

  • CADDYSHACK STAR O’KEEFE PENS NEW BATMAN NOVEL WITH A TWIST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:45 am

CADDYSHACK star MICHAEL O’KEEFE has given BATMAN a new identity in his gripping debut novel.
The actor has just completed his first book and he’s currently looking for a publishing deal.
In Mortal Coil, O’ Keefe’s protagonist, Max Coil, wakes up in a Hollywood mansion without any recollection of who or where he is - and his day just keeps getting stranger.
The Michael Clayton star reveals, "He has a housekeeper with espresso waiting for him, a chauffeur is in his driveway and he can’t figure out why, and, instead of finding out what’s wrong, he kind of plays along.
"When he arrives at work he finds out that he’s a movie star and he’s playing Batman." O’Keefe admits he’s perfectly suited to writing novels - and he hopes his first book is a success, so he can write more.
He tells WENN, "I thought it would make a great screenplay but I’m somewhat of a recluse, so novel writing sort of suits me. If the story gets told and it’s optioned for a movie, I’ll consider it, but I can’t say I wrote it for that. It took me a couple of years to write it."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:45 am

In video footage of the incident, posted on TMZ.com, the actor can be seen approaching the cameraman outside the airport and lashing out at him.
But he insists he was confused after spending days shooting new film Zombieland.
In a statement released on Friday (10Apr09), Harrelson says, "I wrapped a movie called Zombieland, in which I was constantly under assault by zombies, then flew to New York, still very much in character.
"With my daughter at the airport, I was startled by a paparazzo, who I quite understandably mistook for a zombie." Police have taken a report from the cameraman, who claimed Harrelson pushed a camera into his face.

  • WALKER & DIESEL TO RIDE AGAIN IN FAST & FURIOUS 5

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:42 am

Actor PAUL WALKER has confirmed reports he’ll be back for a fourth FAST & FURIOUS film.
The movie hunk, who has played Brian O’Conner in three of the four films in the franchise, felt sure the new film would "close out the franchise", but the movie’s breathtaking opening-week success has prompted him and producers to change gear and think again.
The film almost doubled estimates when it opened in the U.S. with a whopping $72.5 million (£50 million) haul last weekend (03-05Apr09), and now Walker is keen to get behind the wheel of the racing film franchise again - for a trip to South America.
Appearing on Los Angeles radio show Valentine in The Morning on Friday (10Apr09), he said, "This was supposed to be it… Without question, the way that thing’s opened up, Vin (Diesel, co-star) and I will be coming back. We’re making a fifth one and we’re going to Brazil. That’s it! "And I don’t think the best one (film) has been done yet. I think we could easily come back and make the best one."

  • REDMOND O’NEAL FACING JAIL TIME

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:42 am

FARRAH FAWCETT’s troubled son REDMOND O’NEAL is facing up to three years in jail after a Los Angeles judge refused to give him another chance at rehab recovery.
The 24 year old appeared in Los Angeles Municipal Courthouse on Friday morning (10Apr09) in relation to a probation violation and was removed from a programme which allows drug offenders to get professional help as an alternative to jail time.
The judge overseeing his latest legal problems insisted O’Neal should be properly punished for breaking drug laws.
He took into consideration the fact that O’Neal failed to complete a rehab stint at the Clearview Treatment Center in California after he was found guilty of drink driving last June (08). He reportedly left the clinic on 1 April (09) after posting a ‘dirty’ drugs test.
L.A. County District Attorney spokeswoman Jane Robison tells People.com, "Mr. O’Neal was recently discharged from a residential treatment facility after testing positive for meth and because traces of heroin were found in his room." O’Neal is being held in custody without bail and is due back in court on 17 April (09) for sentencing.
The embattled offspring of Fawcett and actor Ryan O’Neal is also facing two other charges of drug possession. He was hit with a felony count following an arrest last weekend (05Apr09), while he pleaded not guilty to another in relation to a separate incident last month (Mar09).
O’Neal’s legal woes are adding to his family’s problems - his mother Fawcett is currently in recovery after suffering complications relating to her treatment for anal cancer. She was released from an Los Angeles hospital on Thursday (09Apr09), a week after she was admitted to the medical facility.
