WINEHOUSE SHUNS EMINEM PAIRING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:39 pm

Troubled singer AMY WINEHOUSE may have brought on her recent ridiculing at the hands of rapper EMINEM - she reportedly snubbed his offer of a collaboration.
The Real Slim Shady star was hoping Winehouse would be able to help deliver him another hit like 2000’s Stan, on which he collaborated with British pop star Dido.
But Winehouse passed up the chance to work with the rapper on his forthcoming comeback record Relapse, according to British newspaper The Sun.
A source tells the publication, "Eminem has followed Amy’s career closely. They have both had drug addiction issues and he empathises with her and hoped to feature her on (comeback album) Relapse. His idea was to make a track as magical as Stan. But unfortunately Amy declined.
"He understands that recently she hasn’t been in a state to focus on music because of her tumultuous private life but he hopes they will get together on a future project." But that didn’t stop Eminem from mocking Winehouse in his upcoming single We Made You, with lyrics including, "You’re my Amy, I’m your Blake/ Matter fact make me a birthday cake/ With a saw blade in it to make my jail break/ Baby, I think you just met your soul mate".

HENNESSY KEEN TO GET BACK TO BUSKING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:39 pm

Former LAW & ORDER star JILL HENNESSY has developed a career as a New York street busker if her acting career ever ends - because she already knows where the best places to play BOB DYLAN and JONI MITCHELL hits are.
The star performed on the city’s subway and at Big Apple landmarks as she struggled to become an actress - and she made a good living doing it.
Hennessy still performs - she recently played a concert at her son’s pre-school - and now she’s hungry to hit the streets again and play her favourite places.
She tells WENN, "When I was playing the subways I would stay in the station and the acoustics were really good on the 1-and-9 line by 79th and Broadway. You’d always get someone coming up and saying, ‘Can you play Joni Mitchell’s Circle Game because last time I heard that my wife and I were still together?’ and they would tell me their whole life story.
"I would play Circle Game and somebody would cry or I would do Dylan or Springsteen covers and Patti Griffin, Green Day, Katy Perry’s I Kissed A Girl. I would also play in Washington Square Park and Central Park around the John Lennon memorial.
"If you averaged it to salary, by the hour I took home around 15 bucks. And near a holiday I made well over 20 dollars an hour.
"My dream is to play at Grand Central Station because the acoustics are amazing."

MILLER MOVIE PANNED BY CRITICS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:36 pm

SIENNA MILLER’s latest film has been blasted by critics - with one reviewer claiming the most memorable thing about the movie is the actress’ “moustache”.
The British beauty stars alongside Peter Sarsgaard in The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, which was released in U.S. cinemas earlier this week (06Apr).
But her performance has not gone done well in the States.
New York Post critic Lou Lumenick writes, “You know a movie’s got problems when the most memorable thing about it is Sienna’s moustache.” And the Boston Globe adds, “Almost nothing works in this movie." Other reviewers have also criticised Miller’s American accent. A reviewer for the New York Times says, "Just what accent Ms Miller is attempting is hard to guess."

CORGAN THRILLED WITH DRUMMER CALL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:36 pm

SMASHING PUMPKINS leader BILLY CORGAN has been overwhelmed by drummers hoping to replace JIMMY CHAMBERLIN in his band - more than 1,000 wannabes have put their names forward for auditions next week (14Apr09).
Chamberlin quit the group last month (Mar09), leaving Corgan the only original member of the band - and he set about finding a new bandmate.
The frontman asked fans and musicians to post submissions online two weeks ago, and he’s more than happy with the response so far.
In a post of the band’s website, Corgan writes, "We’ve received a staggering amount of submissions so far (over 1,000!), so let me say to everyone who has submitted thank you and God bless you for having the courage to throw your name out there.
"The auditions on the 14th are just the first round of trying people out. There is no hurry at the moment, as I’m not quite ready to record yet, and it’s possible I may need more than one drummer for what my plans are. So for someone who may think they would never get a chance there is still time in the months ahead to keep trying.
"I view it as a process to find the right person(s) and it’s important that the right consideration is given." Corgan, who will accompany hopefuls on bass at the auditions, reveals he has been "rocking amongst friends" since Chamberlin’s departure, and he has signed up his "best man" Kerry Brown to play drums on sessions.
Chamberlin quit the group, explaining he could no longer be a part of something he wasn’t "into".
He said, "I can no longer commit all of my energy into something that I don’t fully possess. I won’t pretend I’m into something I’m not. I won’t do it to myself, you the fan, or my former partner. I can’t just ‘cash the check’, so to speak."

They will be flown to a special Vibe event, where the winner will be determined by an audience vote.

Rocker JOEL MADDEN has appealed to his actor pal EMILE HIRSCH to help him raise awareness about the plight of child soldiers in war-torn African nations.

GAGA DITCHES RAUNCHY SINGLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:33 pm

LADY GAGA has decided against releasing LOVE GAME in the U.K. - over fears the track’s raunchy lyrics will turn off fans.
The pop sensation - whose first two singles topped the U.K. charts - was hoping Love Game would give her another number one hit.
But the song has attracted controversy worldwide, with lyrics including "I want to take a ride on your disco stick”.
The racy content caused producers of Australia’s longest-running music programme, Video Hits, to ban the track’s promo.
And now the singer has chosen not to release the song in Britain, instead deciding to make Paparazzi her next single, according to U.K. newspaper The Sun.
A source close to Gaga tells the publication, "For your first two U.K. singles to go to No. 1 is amazing and we would like to try and carry that on.”

But an attorney representing the woman at the centre of the sensational claims insists they are nothing but the "baseless allegations of a jealous man." Lawyer Noel Tonneman insists the only link between his client and Springsteen is that they share the same gym.
Tonneman tells People.com the Springsteen story has upset Ann Kelly, who "cannot return to her home because of the news media." The new announcement comes a day after Kelly’s furious father blasted his son-in-law, insisting he and his attorney are "just seeking sensationalism," adding, "They are dredging up mud that doesn’t exist."

IRONS’ FURY OVER ABANDONED BUILDINGS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:27 pm

Actor JEREMY IRONS has hit out at owners of historic abandoned buildings - calling for them to be prosecuted for vandalism to British heritage.
The Oscar winner has thrown his support behind campaign group Community Alert on Pubs, which is seeking to protect old bars and hotels in Lyme Regis, southern England.
And he has called on authorities to punish owners of historic buildings who allow their property to fall into disrepair.
In a statement to the group, Irons says, "It seems to me that owners leaving a building abandoned for a long period of time, when that building is part of the local community, should be prosecuted for vandalism to our built heritage.
"I cannot believe that the local authorities do not have the power of compulsory purchase in such a case and I hope they may be prompted into using such power on behalf of the people of Lyme Regis and all of us who value our irreplaceable architectural heritage."

COWELL SET FOR AMERICAN TV EXIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:27 pm

British TV talent guru SIMON COWELL is set to quit as a judge on U.S. show AMERICAN IDOL - to trim down his relentless work schedule.
The star, who also fronts Britain’s Got Talent and The X Factor in his native U.K., tells British tabloid the Daily Mirror he makes up to four transatlantic flights a week just to keep up with his hectic filming.
He also heads a record label, and a television production firm.
And despite insisting he feels fit and healthy, Cowell admits his American commitments may face the axe once his contract is up next year (2010).
He says, "I don’t want to come over as whiney because I am very grateful that I have got these jobs. But there is a point where I am not sure we can keep this schedule up.
"It takes longer and longer to make these shows because you have to put more into them, and I am not sure we can sustain me doing three shows a year, with the record label and the TV production company.
"Most people do one show a year and I do three and they involve a lot of travelling. One may have to go. I don’t know which one. That is the problem, I like all of them. I can’t imagine not doing Britain’s Got Talent and I can’t imagine not doing X Factor.
"But I guess America is more likely to go because I have got one year under contract. Maybe that will be the end."

NICKS QUIT PRE-SHOW TEQUILA RITUAL OVER DRUNKEN FEARS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:54 am

Rocker STEVIE NICKS gave up her traditional pre-concert ritual of knocking back a shot of tequila when she started to realise she was risking upsetting fans with a poor performance.
The ever-professional Fleetwood Mac star feared she’d go too far one night and appear drunk onstage, so she quit drinking altogether.
She tells WWD.com, "I used to have a shot of tequila before I went on stage and it would give me this acid thing.
"Finally, I said, ‘This isn’t worth it.’ I can’t get a good enough buzz on one shot of tequila to risk having an acid bubble my entire show.
"I don’t like watching drunk people, especially women. My mum always said to me, ‘Everybody forgets drunk men, but no one forgets a drunk woman.’"

JENNIFER ANISTON’s ex-boyfriend JOHN MAYER served up an Easter treat for Disney pop princess DEMI LOVATO via the Twitter.com social website after complimenting her LA LA LAND hit in a post.

She gushed, "That is quite possibly the best compliment I’ve received in this business. Thank you so, so much!" That `tweet’ prompted Mayer to respond, "You’re going to make lots of records, I can tell. Write one song at a time and never, ever apologize for any of them, ever." The teenager shot back, "That’s exactly what I needed to hear today. If that’s not inspiration, then I don’t know what is."
