FARIS WINS STRICT MUM’S FAVOUR WITH EXPENSIVE GIFTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:06 am

Actress ANNA FARIS fears she has "created a monster" by trying to win her mother’s acceptance with expensive treats - because she might have to buy her a villa in Italy.
Faris admits her strict mum is far from impressed with her daughter’s raunchier roles in films like Scary Movie and The House Bunny - and so the actress has taken to finding other ways to keep her happy.
She says, "I still have my parents sort of haunting me to ‘Act appropriate!’ and ‘Have good manners!’ "I buy my mom off. With the Scary Movies (films), I started giving her Louis Vuitton handbags. Then, it was like, ‘How am I going to top this?’ Now she wants a villa in Tuscany." And Faris insists she’s not exaggerating how strict her teacher mother is - she banned her daughter from watching TV, reading magazines and playing video games when she was growing up.
Faris tells Self magazine even the clothes she wore were scrutinised: "Anything with a V-neck was forbidden. Stirrup pants? That was a huge issue."

FATBOY SLIM EXTENDS REHAB STINT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:04 am

DJ FATBOY SLIM has extended his time in a rehab facility as part of his ongoing bid to overcome an alcohol addiction.
The star - real name Norman Cook - was due to leave the Providence Project clinic in Bournemoth, England this weekend (begs28Mar09) after checking in on 2 March (09) to kick his drinking problem.
Now he has pulled out of the upcoming Snowbombing music festival in Austria after deciding to continue his rehabilitation therapy.
A statement on the star’s official website reads: "I’m choked (upset) to be missing out on the gig in the mountain forest but I really hope Snowbombing will have me back for another crack at it next year. Sorry to let you down folks." His manager Garry Blackburn maintains the star is doing well on his road to recovery - but will not be performing until after June (09).
He says, "Norman’s doing great, he is clearly already stronger and better for what he has done. The thing is that the rehabilitation process needs quite a dramatic shutdown of your previous lifestyle and it would not have been a good idea for him to have gone back to performing so soon. He can now have a few months before he needs to do that." Belgian stars 2ManyDjs have replaced Cook at Snowbombing, which kicks off on Sunday (29Mar09).

DALTREY CALLS ON STARS TO RUN CHARITY GIGS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:04 am

THE WHO rocker ROGER DALTREY plans to step down from his role as a charity concert organiser - and is urging OASIS star NOEL GALLAGHER and STEREOPHONICS singer KELLY JONES to take his place.
Daltrey has been co-ordinating fundraising gigs for his Teenage Cancer Trust project since 2000, but now believes the time has come for him to pass responsibility to younger stars who can help the annual gigs spread further afield.
Daltrey, 65, admits setting up the concerts each year is exhausting - and believes Jones and Gallagher are the right choices to follow in his footsteps.
He says, "I would like to take the model of what we’ve done here and concentrate on getting it started in other countries now.
"It does take an awful lot of energy. I call it my ‘yearly breakdown’. I would love to find someone from a younger generation to take over from me." Jones’ chart-topping band headlined one of this year’s (09) shows at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Thursday (26Mar09) - and have been regular fixtures in the event’s history. Yet despite being flattered at Daltrey’s attention, Jones remains coy as to whether he’ll take on the role of concert organiser.
He says, "(Daltrey has) asked me and Noel a couple of times to our faces. If you’re in a band and you can help people who are worse off, it’s not much to ask for.
"It’s a big job and we’re like, ‘Come on Roger, you’d do it a lot better than us’, and he carries on doing it. I’ve never really given it as much thought as answering it with a serious tone. We’ll see. You see what happens in life."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:04 am

Pop star DELTA GOODREM sent organisers of the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix into a panicked overdrive on Sunday (29Mar09) when she pulled out of a performance of her homeland’s National Anthem at the last minute.
Melbourne Grand Prix bosses had just five hours to find a replacement when Goodrem told them she wouldn’t be singing because of a sore throat following a concert the night before.
The singer’s fiance, Brian McFadden, told race organisers she had suddenly lost her voice: "She is not feeling well and is sick in bed." And her manager Jo Grogan told the Melbourne Herald Sun newspaper the singer was so sick she had been forced to call a doctor to her bedside.
Grogan says, "Delta is very upset, she is absolutely distraught. I think this is the first time she has ever had to cancel a performance." Soul singer Jade McCrae stepped in as a last-minute replacement.
The big race, won by Brit Jenson Button, was the world’s first twilight Grand Prix.

He explains, "You get stuck in those places. You can’t go out and take a p**s, you can’t do anything.
"I went out, actually… while some of the awards were going on and I was trying to get myself a soft pretzel at the concessions stand - they wouldn’t give me one… and I missed my co-star, Laura Linney, winning her award because I was out not getting a pretzel, trying to wrestle a pretzel outta the guy.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:30 am

JENNIFER ANISTON is reportedly parting ways with the trusted hairstylist who has cut her widely imitated locks for nearly fifteen years.
Aniston has become close friends with Chris McMillan since he created her famous ‘Rachel’ haircut on sitcom Friends in the 1990s.
The actress is said to have refused to let any other hairdressers touch her blonde locks - even paying a reported $57,000 (£40,000) for McMillan to accompany her on a week-long promotional trip across Europe earlier this month (Mar09).
But now McMillan is training another guru how to style her hair - so he can work on other clients.

STEWART AND LANCASTER TO MOVE BACK TO BRITAIN?

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:30 am

ROD STEWART and his wife PENNY LANCASTER plan to move back to their native U.K. to raise their three-year-old son away from the party scene in Los Angeles, according to a new report.
Five of Stewart’s other children - including his son Sean, 28, and his socialite daughter Kimberly, 29 - have lived at the rocker’s mansion in California.
Sean Stewart is currently embroiled in a court case over an alleged attack on a fellow clubber in Hollywood’s LAX nightclub in 2006.
But the singer, who owns a home in Epping Forest, England, is hoping to enrol young Alastair in a prestigious private school in Britain to ensure he receives a top education and doesn’t fall into the dangerous trappings of the Los Angeles lifestyle.
A source tells Britain’s Mail On Sunday, "Rod wants to move back to the U.K. so Alastair can get the best education. He and Penny both think it’s a safer place to bring up kids and don’t want Alastair going off the rails, which can happen in L.A." "L.A. is a party town and Rod’s seen the effects it can have on children firsthand. He and Penny are really keen for Alastair to be educated and brought up in Britain." A spokesperson for the star confirms, "When Alastair is older and it’s more important for him to settle in one school for exams etc, their wishes would be for a school in the U.K."

RICHIE URGES JACKSON TO FOCUS ON SINGING, NOT DANCING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:30 am

LIONEL RICHIE has advised MICHAEL JACKSON to concentrate on his vocals during his live comeback run - because fans are more interested in hearing his hits than seeing him moonwalk.
Jackson is currently preparing to kick off his This Is It shows at London’s O2 Arena this summer (Jul09) and is reportedly spending hours rehearsing his signature dance moves ahead of the 50-date run.
But Richie insists that dancing will be harder on Jackson now that he is 50 years old.
So he has urged his fellow pop star to make the concerts memorable for the audience by delivering impressive vocal performances instead.
Richie says, "Heâs not that 25-year-old or 30-year-old anymore so he will have to discover some things about himself that he didnât quite want to face up to I’m sure, but what he does have is a mound of hit records.
"He has to just get it in his head that we (as performers) are on that stage because people want to see us singing those songs.
"Whether you moonwalk or skywalk or float in from the back of the stage, thatâs all extra added attractions, but the most important thing is to pick up the microphone and sing Thriller, thatâs all that matters.
"Speaking from an artistâs point of view, there is an insecurity of being away for a while, and you wonder, ‘Do I know what I’m doing?’ But if I have to drag him on stage myself, I will."
