Bosses at the helm of the U.S. adaptation of THE OFFICE have dismissed reports the show’s creator RICKY GERVAIS has filmed a guest spot in the final episode - insisting the show is far from over.
British tabloid reports claimed Gervais - who starred and wrote the original U.K. version - would make a cameo in the final episode of the hit American series.
It was rumoured he would play the unpopular office manager David Brent on whom Steve Carell’s Michael Scott character is based.
However, executive producer Paul Lieberstein has laughed off the reports - and assures fans the show’s final episode is a long way off.
He tells E! Online, "We love Ricky, but have not had any discussions about an appearance on the U.S. show.
"And we haven’t given any thought to the final show because it is probably a zillion episodes away."

ELLEN DEGENERES is storming her way back on to the big screen for the first time in 10 years - she’s set to play Mother Nature in a new movie.
The U.S. chat show host has signed to play the human representation of Earth’s life-giver in a new project from Walden Media - the studio behind hit children’s films Charlotte’s Web and the Chronicles of Narnia franchise.
It’s the first time the funnywoman has starred in a live-action movie role since 1999’s EDtv. She has more recently lent her voice to animated films Finding Nemo and the forthcoming Dog Show.
And DeGeneres can’t wait to take on the all-powerful part.
She says, "I’ve always wanted to control the weather." The as-yet-untitled project is being penned by Sex and the City writer Jenny Bicks.

Veteran actor STACY KEACH has been hospitalised with a mystery illness while on tour with the stage production of FROST/NIXON.
The 67-year-old, best known for his role as Mike Hammer in the eponymous 1980s TV show, was admitted into a Los Angeles medical facility on Tuesday (17Mar09) morning for undisclosed health problems.
His spokesman Dick Guttman says he is in a "stable condition". Guttman added that further details will be released on Wednesday (18Mar09).
Keach is currently starring as former U.S. President Richard Nixon in the touring stage adaptation of the famous interviews between the disgraced American leader and British broadcaster David Frost.

MARIAH CAREY and NICK CANNON are all set to celebrate their first wedding anniversary as the owners of one of Los Angeles’ most prestigious homes, according to reports.
The pop pair have put in an offer to buy the Saperstein Estate in Holmby Hills, after spending the past three months house hunting in California.
The palatial pad has reportedly been on the market for months at a whopping $125 million (£83.3 million). It is not known what Carey and Cannon are paying for the place.
The French Chateau-style mansion was bought by David and Suzanne Saperstein in the early 1990s. The former society couple spent five years renovating the home, which they dubbed Fleur de Lys.
Reports suggest the mansion has become a mini-palace with Italian marble walls, French limestone floors, gold-embossed leather wall coverings and gold-leaf crowned mouldings.
The lavish home features a ballroom with ceiling frescoes, a library with a first-edition book collection, two kitchens and a screening room with seating for 50. There’s also a three-bedroom manager’s house, staff quarters for 10, a nine-car garage and even a private jogging track.
A source close to Carey and Cannon, who wed at the pop superstar’s Bahamas home in Eleuthera last April (08), says, "They like the home because there’s so little that needs doing to it."

AMERICAN IDOL’s tough judge SIMON COWELL has urged MICHAEL JACKSON to consider an appearance on the TV talent show ahead of his comeback gigs in London this summer (09) - insisting he’d be foolish not to perform on the hit programme.
Jackson has announced a 50-date residency at London’s 02 Arena, which will begin in July (09) - and music mogul Cowell has proposed the King of Pop gives America a thrill with a showcase on Idol first.
He says, "It’s the best platform he can have in America right now. He’d be stupid not to do it."

The music mogul who discovered RIHANNA has spoken out about his protege for the first time since her much-publicised fight with boyfriend CHRIS BROWN.
Producer Evan Rogers insists the good intentions of talk show hosts like Oprah Winfrey and Tyra Banks, who have publicly urged Rihanna to break off her romance with Brown, aren’t helping the Umbrella singer, who reconciled with her boyfriend after a brief split.
Rogers tells Entertainment Weekly magazine that the R&B star is struggling to come to terms with the fall-out from the 8 February (09) bust-up, which left her face swollen and bruised - and comments from TV pundits aren’t helping.
He says, "It turns up the heat in terms of it seeming like the whole world is telling her what to do. At the end of the day, people forget that, at 21, your perspective is very different. These kinds of things can happen to anyone, whether you’re a celebrity or not.
"She’s very aware of everything that’s going on. Just like anyone else, she watches TV, she goes online. And I think that it matters to her, but there’s a line that she walks between being human and caring when you hear these kinds of things, and separating your personal life from your professional life.
"She’s doing the best she can and this is a very difficult time that she’s going through right now, and she’s going to learn a lot from it.
"I think that most people still see her as the victim in this situation. You’ll always have a lot of haters who talk negatively about artists all day long on the Internet. But I think that when the dust settles, she’s going to be fine." Rogers has also dismissed reports suggesting Rihanna and Brown have recorded a reconciliation duet: "There’s no duet that’s been recorded other than one called Bad Girl that was a bootleg track from months before."

ANTONIO BANDERAS has joined the ranks of wining stars after taking a stake in a vineyard in his native Spain.
The actor is the new co-owner of the renamed Anta Banderas winery at Duero River in northern Spain. The vineyard specialises in red and rose wines and excels in Merlots and Cabernet Sauvignons.
Other stars who have turned their love of wine into sideline careers include moviemaker Francis Ford Coppola, Kyle MacLachlan, British singer Cliff Richard and French star Gerard Depardieu.

MADONNA’s final album for current record label Warner Bros. will be another hits compilation.
The pop superstar will record new songs this summer (09) specifically for the forthcoming release, according to reports.
The untitled swansong album is tentatively set for release in September (09).
It will be her first hits album since 2001’s GHV2. She had previously released the Immaculate Collection in 1990.
Madonna signed a $120 million (£85.7 million) deal with promoters Live Nation in October 2007.

NICOLAS CAGE credits CHER with helping him become a Hollywood star - because she fought to land him a role alongside her in Oscar-winning movie MOONSTRUCK.
Studio bosses were reluctant to cast the then-23-year-old Cage as Cher’s love interest in the film - but the singer/actress dug her heels in and landed him the part of New York baker Ronny Cammareri.
The movie won Cher a Best Actress Oscar and catapulted Cage onto the Hollywood A-list - and he is eternally grateful.
He says, "She really was a champion for me. At a time when people didn’t see me as a romantic actor, she fought for me."

LINDSAY LOHAN was left cowering in embarrassment after her driver clipped a gate on Monday night (16Mar09) - just days after she took out a post outside JACK NICHOLSON’s home.
Lohan drove her Mercedes into a cement gatepost outside the movie mogul’s Hollywood Hills home late on Friday night (13Mar09) after she persuaded Nicholson to let her into his compound in a desperate bid to avoid the paparazzi.
And then, on Monday, it was her driver’s turn to mess up a motor manoeuvre as he drove Lohan away from Los Angeles’ Sky Bar hang-out.
With paparazzi and video cameramen everywhere, Lohan tried to hide as her driver inspected the damage.

JULIA ROBERTS’ brother ERIC is on the verge of a major acting comeback - just as pal MICKEY ROURKE predicted at last month’s (Feb09) Independent Spirit Awards.
And it’s a role in comeback king Rourke’s new movie that has kickstarted Roberts’ career - he’s currently shooting his part in all-star action film The Expendables in Brazil.
In the film, Roberts will play opposite his old pal and his The Specialist co-star Sylvester Stallone.
The actor has also landed a pivotal role in Howl, the Allen Ginsberg biopic starring James Franco as the controversial poet.
The film will also feature Paul Rudd, Alan Alda, David Straitharn, Mary Louise-Parker and Jeff Daniels, according to MovieHole.net.
At the Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica, California, Rourke paid tribute to Roberts, insisting his pal deserved "a second chance" during his Best Actor acceptance speech.
He said, "I wish there would be one god damned filmmaker in this room that would let him fly, because the man is something else."

Goth-rocker NICK CAVE’s model son JETHRO has been dropped as the face of Aussie department store Myer amid reports of his erratic behaviour.
The teenager has appeared in youth campaigns for the company in recent months, and was all set to walk the runway at the department store’s gala show in Melbourne on Monday (23Mar09).
But he has been cut from rehearsals.
Myer spokesman Mitch Catlin tells the Sydney Daily Telegraph, "After the first day of rehearsals it was clear that Jethro was not the right fit for what we want from our models in a Myer parade. His term with Myer ended at the end of Sunday’s rehearsals." Catlin adds Cave’s edgy look was too extreme for the slick and stylish Myer extravaganza.
But insiders tell the publication Jethro’s bad behaviour was to blame.
A spokeswoman at Viviens Models, which represents Cave, claims he has been battling a bout of influenza, and was looking forward to the Myer show.
He’s not struggling to find work, however - he’s landed a modelling gig with L’Oreal.

MEGADETH will headline the inaugural Revolver Golden Gods Awards in Los Angeles next month (Apr09), with OZZY OSBOURNE set to receive the event’s first Lifetime Achievement Award.
Killswitch Engage, Hatebreed, All That Remains and Suicide Silence will also perform at the Club Nokia event, while Slipknot’s Corey Taylor will DJ at the ceremony.

Broadway theatre bosses will dim the lights of New York’s theatreland on Wednesday (18Mar09) as a mark of respect to late actor RON SILVER.
The actor, who won a 1988 Tony Award for his performance in David Mamet’s Speed-the-Plow, lost his battle with esophageal cancer on Sunday (15Mar09).
Theatre marquees will be dimmed for one minute at 8pm on Wednesday - the traditional starting time for evening performances of Broadway shows.
Silver was president of Actors’ Equity Association throughout the 1990s.

The family of a Connecticut woman fighting for her life after a savage star chimpanzee attack is suing the ape’s owner for $50 million (GBP35.7 million).
Sandra Herold stabbed the acting chimp, called Travis, and beat him with a shovel in a bid to stop him ripping a visiting pal’s face off before cops were forced to shoot the crazed primate.
But Charlotte Nash lost her hands, nose, lips and eyelids in the February (09) attack - and now her family members want compensation from her friend.
Nash, who has been left partially blind and could possibly be brain damaged, agreed to help Herold when Travis became unruly and refused to go back into his cage at her home.
The chimp appeared in a series of U.S. TV commercials, including one for clothing company Old Navy, opposite Morgan Fairchild.

NATASHA RICHARDSON has been transferred to a New York hospital to be closer to her family following a skiing accident which left her with a serious head injury.
The 45-year-old fell on the slopes while taking a ski lesson at Station Mont Tremblant near Montreal, on Monday (16Mar09).
She was taken to Montreal’s Centre Hospitalier Laurentien, before being transferred to the nearby Hopital du Sacre-Coeur de Montreal with a "traumatic brain injury".
The actress’ husband, Irish actor Liam Neeson, rushed to her side on Monday from the set of his film, Chloe, currently shooting in Toronto.
Now, the British star has been flown via private jet to New York, according to a representative from the Sacre-Coeur hospital.
Spokeswoman Josee-Michelle Simard says, "She was transferred at the request of the family." It is believed Neeson requested the move so his wife would be closer to the pair’s two young sons, Michael and Daniel, who are currently staying with relatives in the city.
A representative for the ski resort where Richardson was injured revealed on Tuesday (17Mar09) that she seemed fine immediately after the fall, but later complained of feeling unwell and was taken into the care of medics.

PATRICK SWAYZE is in good spirits, training for the second season of his TV show THE BEAST and "kicking butt", according to close pal WHOOPI GOLDBERG.
Less than a week after a U.S. tabloid printed pictures of the cancer-suffering star looking frail and gaunt, Swayze reached out to his Ghost co-star in a personal call, asking her to dispel rumours he’s on death’s door.
Speaking on her morning talk show The View on Tuesday (17Mar09), Goldberg revealed, "He’s actually quite good. He’s in very very good spirits. He’s in the middle of writing a book with (his wife) Lisa." Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year (08), but has vowed to fight the disease and defied doctors’ expectations by landing a role in A&E network drama The Beast.
The first season premiered earlier this year (09) - and Swayze is now preparing to shoot season two.
Goldberg adds, "He’s working his tail off. He’s sick, there’s no getting around it, but, like all of us, we all know we’re going to die. We don’t know when and what’s going to take us.
"As it turns out, there’s no expiration date on his a**, so he’s going forward. He’s going back into training for The Beast, because he’s running and jumping in it." Swayze has also denied claims chemotherapy has cost him his hair, prompted by photos appearing to show him wearing a wig; he insists he cut his own locks off for his role in The Beast.
Goldberg adds,"He says he shaved his head. Whatever you’re reading, just know he’s kicking butt. He’s doing one day at a time."
