PEARLMAN PLANS REALITY TV SHOW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:36 pm

Incarcerated boyband svengali LOU PEARLMAN is plotting a return to the spotlight - he’s developing his own reality TV show.
The music mogul - the mastermind behind successful boybands Backstreet Boys and ‘N Sync - is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence after being convicted of fraud last year (08).
Pearlman has teamed with reality TV producer Jonathan Murray to pitch the series, about a Florida rock band called Biteboy, reports the New York Post.
Branded as a cross between Making the Band and Charlie’s Angels, Pearlman would give words of advice to his proteges from behind bars in the show, according to Tyler Gray, the author of a new book about the star, entitled The Hit Charade.
Detailing the production in Portfolio magazine, Gray writes, "It essentially would feature Lou’s disembodied voice on a speakerphone. Biteboy, by any definition, is a long shot. No recording labels have ever shown any interest in Biteboy."

BLIGE LAWSUIT DROPPED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:39 pm

A lawsuit targeting R&B star MARY J. BLIGE’s hit song FAMILY AFFAIR for alleged copyright infringement has been dropped.
The action accused Blige’s songwriting team of coming up with a tune bearing close lyrical resemblance to rapper Benevolence’s song Party Ain’t Crunk.
The track was submitted to Universal Records by Benevolence’s manager James White in May 2001 - three months before Blige completed work on Family Affair.
In the suit, filed in January (09), White and fellow plaintiff Leonard James also initially named Family Affair producer Dr. Dre but he was dropped from the action after a court ruled there was a "lack of personal jurisdiction".
Responding to the accusation, Blige and Universal Records challenged White and James to provide proof the two songs were similar lyrically - and when they failed to respond with strong evidence the case was dismissed, according to AllHipHop.com.
