SIMON & GARFUNKEL PLANNING NEW ZEALAND SHOW?

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:24 pm

Folk super-duo SIMON & GARFUNKEL are planning to kick off a reunion tour in New Zealand, according to reports.
Paul Simon confessed he was blown away by the rapturous reception he and Art Garfunkel received during a brief, three-song reunion at a New York show last month (Feb09), and he immediately set about considering another comeback tour.
He recently said, "Our plan to work together is coming." And now it looks as if plans are afoot for the duo’s first tour since 2004.
Sources tell Rolling Stone magazine Simon and Garfunkel will begin rehearsing in May (09) in New York before launching a tour the following month (Jul09) in New Zealand.
Simon’s manager, Jeff Kramer, has reportedly told both Simon and Garfunkel to clear their schedules from late-May to early-June.
After the pair’s 2004 tour, Simon said, "Because we do this every 10 or 12 years, this is probably the last time we’re going to do this."

BATMAN BOSS’ BROTHER ARRESTED ON MURDER AND KIDNAPPING ALLEGATIONS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:21 pm

The brother of BATMAN BEGINS and THE DARK KNIGHT director CHRISTOPHER NOLAN is facing murder and kidnapping charges following his arrest by FBI agents in Chicago, Illinois last month (Feb09).
Matthew Francis Nolan, who was also under investigation by Chicago authorities over his alleged involvement in a $700,000 (£486,100) bank fraud scheme, was taken into custody on suspicion of the 2005 killing of Florida businessman Robert C. Cohen.
The warrant for his arrest was originally issued in Costa Rica, where 40-year-old Nolan was reportedly posing as Cohen’s potential business partner. However, authorities claim Nolan was actually hired to recover the $7 million (£4.86 million) Cohen owed another Florida mogul.
He and his accomplice, Douglas Mejia, allegedly kidnapped Cohen and attempted to extort the cash from his family. Costa Rican officials allege the pair murdered the businessman when the bribe failed.
Mejia has already been convicted for his involvement, while Nolan is being held in Chicago until he can be extradited and tried for the charges, according to the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper.

HIP-HOP PRODUCER SUES WEST PARTY ORGANISERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

A veteran hip-hop manager is suing organisers of KANYE WEST’s 30th birthday celebration, alleging he was injured by falling decorations at the rapper’s event.
Steve Lobel, who manages Grammy-winning rappers Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, has filed suit against French fashion brand Louis Vuitton and New York events promoter Tony Berger, of Relevent Group LLC, in Queens Supreme Court.
Lobel was partying with West’s celebrity pals, including Rihanna, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Jay-Z, Usher and Mariah Carey, at the 7 June 2007 bash when the incident occurred.
A temporary panel at the venue - the fashion brand’s New York store on Fifth Avenue - fell off the wall and allegedly struck the producer.
He is demanding unspecified damages from the company, insisting Louis Vuitton bosses used unstable panelling to "obscure the store’s merchandise and create a club look".
Berger tells the New York Daily News, "We were aware of the incident. We reported it to our insurance carrier, and it is being handled by them."

U2 MAINTAIN EUROPEAN CROWN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

Irish rockers U2 have fought off competition from LADY GAGA, KELLY CLARKSON and ANNIE LENNOX to remain atop the European albums chart for a third consecutive week.
The One hitmakers’ latest disc, No Line On The Horizon, keeps Lady Gaga’s The Fame from climbing to the number one spot - her debut CD only moves up one place to take second.

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga can take consolation in the European singles chart - her song Poker Face is still the most popular track on the continent.
Rapper Flo Rida’s Right Round creeps up from number four to two, while James Morrison’s duet with Nelly Furtado, Broken Strings, sits at three.
Clarkson’s My Life Would Suck Without You falls two spots to number four, while U.K. pop star Alesha Dixon’s The Boy Does Nothing leaps up 50 places to enter the top 40 chart at five.

MALAWIAN ADOPTION OFFICIAL: ‘MADONNA SHOULD CONVINCE COURTS, NOT PUBLIC’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:27 pm

MADONNA’s efforts to win over the people of Malawi to support another adoption bid are useless - because the decision ultimately lies with a high court judge, a government official has declared.
The pop superstar recently confirmed reports she is thinking about adopting a second child from the African country after welcoming little David Banda into her family in 2006. His adoption was officially signed off in 2008.
Madonna recently told the country’s Nation newspaper, "It’s something I have been considering, but would only do if I had the support of the Malawian people and the Government.
"Many people - especially our Malawian friends - say that David should have a Malawian brother or sister. It is a big priority for me to educate my son about the world, but always to stay connected to his Malawian culture." But Cyrus Jeke, a spokesman for the Ministry of Child and Women Development, insists her focus should be strictly directed to the courts, because the Malawian public will have no say in the adoption.
He says, "It’s not pre-conceived. A high court judge must be convinced about the adoption." Madonna was alleged to be in the process of adopting a young girl named Mercy James last year (08), but the reports never came to fruition.

PALTROW’S GUILT OVER FILMING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:27 pm

GWYNETH PALTROW is battling feelings of guilt as she prepares to film IRON MAN 2 - because she has to drag her children out of their native London for the shoot.
The actress, who plays Pepper Potts in the hit franchise, will leave the British capital, where she lives with her husband Chris Martin and two kids, on Monday (23Mar09) to begin filming the sequel to the blockbuster movie in the U.S.
But she admits she hates having to remove her children - four-year-old daughter Apple and son Moses, one - from their normal surroundings.
She says, "I’m feeling ‘mother guilt’ because my daughter is looking forward to going but my son says, ‘I don’t wanna leave my London house!’ So I always feel pretty guilty about that. I try to say, ‘We’re gonna swim and it’s going to be sunny!’ I try to point out the positives." And the star insists the youngsters are often confused when she returns to work: "I barely ever do films; I’m with them almost all the time. But in a way it makes the transition harder. I feel like if I worked all the time, then they would be used to it. But when I’m always there and always doing the school runs and I’m always around and then I just disappear for 14 hours a day to film, it’s hard."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:24 pm

CHENOWETH DETAILS BIZARRE STAGE MOMENTS IN MEMOIR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:24 pm

Actress KRISTIN CHENOWETH had a shocking return to Broadway for her 1998 run in YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN - when security had to escort a man out of the theatre for pleasuring himself.
The Tony Award winner starred as Charlie’s little sister Sally in the production, one year after making her Broadway debut - and admits she’s experienced a host of awkward moments during her acting career.
Recounting the jaw-dropping moments in a new memoir, A Little Bit Wicked, she writes: "Once the security officers had to drag a guy out of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown because he was masturbating during (the song) My New Philosophy." And although Chenoweth insists her experiences on the New York stage haven’t always been so lewd, she admits theatre acting can bring a new set of challenges.
She adds: "I remember a performance of The Fantasticks where a mom brought a teenage son with Tourette’s syndrome to the show. It was explained to me that because he liked me a lot, it became especially difficult for him to control his outbursts when I came on stage… Every time I said or sang anything, he would snort, howl or bellow some expletive about bodily functions or female anatomy… (and drop) F-bombs." The book is scheduled to hit shelves in April (09).
