NATASHA RICHARDSON was no fan of the sport that killed her, according to fashion designer pal KENNETH COLE.
The actress suffered a fatal brain injury after falling during a skiing lesson in Montreal, Canada last week (16Mar09). She died from her injuries on Wednesday (18Mar09).
And Cole, who attended his late friend’s wake on Friday (20Mar09), has revealed the tragic British star was only on the piste because members of her family thought a skiing trip would do her good.
Speaking at the launch of her first husband Robert Fox’s Broadway play Gods of Carnage on Sunday night (22Mar09), the fashion designer said, "She was a very calculated person. She didn’t love skiing because it was dangerous."

Russian billionaire OLEG DERIPASKA has slammed reports pop superstar MICHAEL JACKSON is set to perform at a private party the businessman is staging, branding the rumours "sheer fantasy".
The Thriller hitmaker was alleged to have negotiated a $2.9 million (£2 million) paycheque in exchange for an appearance at Deripaska’s glitzy bash in April (09).
But representatives for the Russian tycoon have blasted the claims, made by Jackson biographer Ian Halperin earlier this month (Mar09).
The former journalist further alleged Jackson had demanded a team of nine doctors be on-hand throughout the performance - just in case he felt unwell. But all claims have been dismissed by a spokesman for Deripaska’s office.
His representative Sergey Babichenko tells WENN, "A number of Russian and international media recently has published rumours about Michael Jackson’s alleged forthcoming performance at Oleg Deripaska’s party. This expressly false information has nothing to do with reality."

Pop star FERGIE has taken aim at celebrity designers who launch fashion items that are way out of their fans’ price range, branding the practice "irresponsible".
The Black Eyed Peas singer launched her shoe range, simply titled Fergie, in Los Angeles on Saturday (21Mar09) with styles ranging in price from $69 to $129 (£47.50 to £89).
And she is proud to have a collection her young devotees can actually buy, unlike stars like Gwen Stefani, whose L.A.M.B. shoes typically carry a price tag in excess of $100 (£69).
She insists pop star designers should be more aware of their fans’ financial struggles amid the current economic problems.
Fergie says, "I would feel really irresponsible right now to have a line that was completely out of my fans’ price range."

JIMI HENDRIX’s lost final recordings are to be finally released thanks to a new deal between the rock legend’s sister and bosses at Universal Music Publishing Group.
As part of the deal with Experience Hendrix, which is run by the guitar great’s sibling Janie, Universal has become the exclusive administrator of the Jimi Hendrix catalogue throughout the world for the next five years.
The agreement covers all commercial opportunities, including licensing for films, TV and advertising campaigns.
Universal Music Publishing replaces Sony/ATV Music Publishing, which had administered the Hendrix catalogue outside the United States since 1998. The U.S. publishing rights will continue to be handled by Experience Hendrix and Janie Hendrix.
Hendrix hopes the deal will also spark fresh interest in her brother’s material, and she is planning to release the guitarist’s final recordings.
She says, "Currently, I am in the studio transferring tapes of Band of Gypsys performances that have never been released before." And Experience Hendrix also expects to release CDs and DVDs, which showcase live performances by the Jimi Hendrix Experience at London’s Royal Albert Hall in February, 1969.
Universal chairman David Renzer insists the new five-year deal is a real coup for his company: "Janie has done an amazing job of keeping the music and Hendrix’s legacy alive. They have a great reissue program in place and they are doing a great job of protecting his legacy."

The scandal surrounding LEANN RIMES’ alleged affair with married co-star EDDIE CIBRIAN boosted ratings for their TV movie NORTHERN LIGHTS on Saturday night (21Mar09) - the romantic drama has become U.S. network Lifetime’s most-watched film this year (09).
Infidelity rumours swirled around Rimes and Cibrian last week (ends20Mar09) after leaked security camera footage caught the couple enjoying an intimate dinner together in California.

The JONAS BROTHERS’ brand new fan club website crashed on Monday morning (22Mar09) as fans desperately tried to get tickets for the group’s upcoming tour.
Thousands of fans flooded the website in the hope of securing pre-sale passes to the trio’s North American concerts, bringing the online fan club destination to a grinding halt.
More than five hours after the pre-sale began to launch the fan club website, fans were still trying to get past the display message: "We are experiencing very high volume at the moment. Please check back with us in a few moments." A statement from the Jonas Brothers reads, "Due to overwhelming demand among Team Jonas members for pre-sale tickets for the Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009, the official Team Jonas fan club website experienced intermittent problems this morning, causing delays among members attempting to connect to purchase tickets.
"For those of you still needing access codes, we are in the process of contacting fan club members individually with a solution so that you can purchase tickets as soon as possible. Rest assured that only Team Jonas fan club members will continue to have exclusive access to purchase tickets for the next 36 hours."

BOND girl OLGA KURYLENKO will always be careful with her finances - because her poverty-stricken upbringing taught her the value of money from a young age.
The Quantum of Solace star admits the hardships she endured as a child have made her very cash conscious - and she refuses to waste money on frivolous items she doesn’t need.
And that means there’s one celebrity trend the former Ukranian model will never follow - collecting shoes.
She explains, "I refused to go to school because my shoes had no soles. My mother insisted that I go, so I took a needle and thread and stitched the shoes so that my toes wouldn’t poke out at the end.
"By the time I got to school the stitches had come out and my feet were on show. It was very upsetting. But those experiences taught me a lot about money. It’s not important in my life. I don’t really think about it at all. Because I grew up with nothing I have no extravagances. I don’t want hundreds of shoes - just a few pairs that don’t need stitching up."

Funnyman SETH ROGEN was left reeling after accidentally breaking a stuntman’s nose in his new movie.
The Knocked Up star plays a mall cop in upcoming comedy Observe and Report and admits watching one scene will turn his stomach - because it will remind him of the moment he knocked a fight partner out.
He tells Playboy magazine, "I punched a stuntman in the face and broke his nose. He got a little too close. He claimed it wasn’t my fault, which was very noble of him.
"It made a really loud popping sound. You could hear it. Everybody on the set could hear it. It was kind of disgusting, but we used that shot in the final cut.
"There’s a scene in the movie when you can see me breaking a guy’s nose."

Actor MARTIN SHEEN is preparing to welcome yet another new addition to his family - his son EMILIO ESTEVEZ’s son TAYLOR is to wed his longterm girlfriend this summer (09).

Former PARTRIDGE FAMILY star DANNY BONADUCE is to wed his manager girlfriend - less than six months after divorcing his wife of 16 years.
The actor’s marriage to ex-wife Gretchen was finalised in November (08), but the split hasn’t put Bonaduce off the idea of marriage - he’s now planning to exchange vows with Amy Railsback, who, at 26, is 23 years his junior.
The 49 year old proposed to Railsback on 12 March (09) with a diamond and ruby-studded sterling silver skull and crossbones ring, reports Usmagazine.com.
His wife-to-be says, "He wears that pirate jewellery. He normally wears, like, $12 rings, but this is the real thing. He promises to get me a grown up engagement ring and wedding (ring) when we get married. This one is a Danny version for now." Railsback reveals it’s not the first time Bonaduce has tried to make her his wife: "He proposed a whole bunch of times over the last couple of years, but, you know, it’s never quite official until you have a ring on your finger." The bride-to-be is keen to have an intimate ceremony, but has no idea when that will be: "I’d want a smaller ceremony and I’d invite my closest family friends, and of course his family and siblings. Maybe 12 people, tops."

Veteran actress VANESSA REDGRAVE has postponed her New York stage return in THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING following the tragic death of her daughter NATASHA RICHARDSON.
The Maid In Manhattan star died last Wednesday (18Mar09) after suffering a traumatic brain injury during a skiing lesson in Montreal, Canada.
She was laid to rest on Sunday (22Mar09), near the upstate New York home she shared with actor husband Liam Neeson and their sons.
Redgrave was due to perform her one-woman play, adapted from Joan Didion’s book, at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine on 27 April (09), but she has now chosen to reschedule the date to allow her time to mourn.
The British actress originally starred in the 2007 Broadway adaptation of the harrowing retelling of the deaths of the author’s husband and daughter.
Cathedral officials are working on securing a new date for the show, according to church spokesman Jonathan Korzen.

Oscar-winning moviemakers JOEL and ETHAN COEN are to remake JOHN WAYNE’s iconic western TRUE GRIT.
The brothers will direct their own version of the movie, which earned Wayne his only Best Actor Oscar in 1970.
However, the Coens’ project will be a departure from Wayne’s film - they will base their story more closely to Charles Portis’ book about a 14-year-old girl who tracks down her father’s killer.
The film will reteam the brothers with producer Scott Rudin, their partner on the Oscar-winning No Country for Old Men.
Casting for the True Grit remake has yet to be determined.

Oscar nominee ANNE HATHAWAY is to double up as JUDY GARLAND in an ambitious new theatre and film project, which will bring the beloved WIZARD OF OZ star’s life story to the stage and the big screen.
The Rachel Getting Married star showed off her song-and-dance skills when she performed with Hugh Jackman at the Oscars in February (09) and now she’ll be able to tackle Garland’s hits as part of the Weinstein Company’s planned adaptations of biographer Gerald Clarke’s 2001 book Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland.
Clarke waded through hundreds of interviews with the singer/actress and used her own unfinished and unpublished autobiography to chronicle the highs and lows of the cultural icon’s life.
In making the announcement about the stage and screen projects, Weinstein boss Harvey Weinstein tells WENN, "We are thrilled to have the brilliantly talented Anne Hathaway portray stage and screen legend Judy Garland. I have worked with Anne on projects in the past and have known her for many years. She will be a true class act in this challenging role.
"Gerald Clarke’s biography is a fascinating and comprehensive look at Garland’s life and is particularly outstanding because of its exclusive details from her own writings. Her story is incredible subject matter for both theatre and film and we look forward to bringing it to audiences."

Late-night U.S. chat show host DAVID LETTERMAN has secretly wed his longtime girlfriend REGINA LASKO, according to news reports.
The Late Show host and Lasko exchanged vows last week (19Mar09), according to UsMagazine.com. The pair had been dating since 2001, and Lasko gave birth to their first child, Harry, in 2003.
Letterman, who was previously married to his college sweetheart, Michelle Cook, fell in love with Lasko while she worked as his assistant.
The couple reportedly wed at the TV star’s Montana ranch in September, 2003, but those rumours proved to be untrue.

Embattled singer CHRIS BROWN is struggling to deal with the public backlash following his alleged bust-up with RIHANNA last month (Feb09), according to his pal TYRESE GIBSON.
The Kiss Kiss hitmaker is facing almost five years behind bars if convicted of assaulting Rihanna during the 8 February (09) incident, which left the Umbrella singer beaten and bruised.
The couple reconciled after a meeting at rap mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Miami, Florida mansion, but Rihanna has since reportedly called off the romance.
Brown’s career has taken a knock since the headline-grabbing altercation, with bosses at gum firm Wrigleys and America’s National Dairy Council pulling promotional campaigns featuring the star, and bosses at several radio stations have removed his songs from their playlists after receiving complaints from listeners.
And Transformers actor Gibson insists Brown, who was recently pictured laughing and enjoying a ride on a jet ski, is not coping with the ordeal as well as it may seem.
He says, "Although he appears to be really strong through all of this, it’s really taking a toll on his spirit. People like me and Puff (Combs), we’re just trying to show him love and keep his spirits up while he’s going through all of the heat, and there are a lot people doing the same for Rihanna." And Gibson claims Brown is also finding it difficult to return to work, despite the fact he’s back in the studio preparing for his next album.
The actor adds, "It’s really hard for him to focus right now on his music, even though he really wants to.
"At the end of the day, I’m not trying to justify it because wrong is wrong, but unfortunately, us as entertainers, we have to grow up on stage with a lot of people looking at us. And a lot of people forget that he’s 19, she’s only 21." Brown is due to be arraigned in a Los Angeles court in April (09).

BRUCE WILLIS and his new model wife EMMA HEMING will hold a second wedding ceremony in California when they return from the Caribbean, to make sure their nuptials are legally binding in the U.S.
The couple exchanged vows at the Die Hard actor’s home on Parrot Cay, in the Turks and Caicos Islands on Saturday (21Mar09), with guests including Willis’ ex-wife Demi Moore and her husband Ashton Kutcher.
But Willis, 54, and Heming, 30, are planning another, smaller celebration when they return home from their tropical paradise.
The star’s representative tells UsMagazine.com, "The couple will be having a civil ceremony when they return to California." The pair has been dating since 2008. It is Willis’ second marriage and Heming’s first.

Actor ROBIN WILLIAMS is recovering well after undergoing heart surgery - and was cracking jokes with the medical team just two hours after the operation.
The 57-year-old Oscar winner was forced to postpone the remainder of his Weapons of Self-Destruction comedy tour earlier this month (Mar09) after complaining of shortness of breath.
He was subsequently hospitalised in Miami, Florida, where doctors advised him to undergo surgery for an aortic valve replacement.
Williams had the operation at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio on 13 March (09).
His cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Marc Gillinov, says, "Mr. Williams’ operation went extremely well and we expect him to make a full recovery.
"The three-and-a-half-hour heart surgery was conducted to replace his aortic valve, repair his mitral valve, and correct his irregular heartbeat. His heart is strong and he will have normal heart function in the coming weeks with no limitations on what he’ll be able to do.
"A couple of hours after surgery, he was entertaining the medical team and making us all laugh." Williams has publicly thanked the medical teams at both hospitals for taking such good care of him.
In a statement released by his representative, he says, "The professionals at the University of Miami Hospital and, ultimately, at the Cleveland Clinic were all fantastic. I can’t thank them enough for their kindness and dedication while I was in their care. I must also thank all the people who have expressed their love and concern for me. I have been deeply touched by their support." And he plans to use his heart condition as fodder for his stand-up comedy routine: "I got some great new material for the tour and can’t wait to get back on the road. I’m thinking the next leg of the tour will be (called) Weapons of Self-Destruction and Reconstruction!"

ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA & TRAVELING WILBURYS star JEFF LYNNE is to be awarded the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers’ (ASCAP) 2009 Golden Note honour.
The revered Brit, who has also produced the Beatles, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty, among others, will become the latest recipient of the ASCAP honour at a ceremony in Los Angeles next month (Apr09).
Previous honorees include Petty, Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Garth Brooks.
