AFFLECK REGRETS TV SPECIAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:00 am

Remember the TV news special BEN AFFLECK filmed with his then-fiancee JENNIFER LOPEZ to promote movie flop GIGLI? He wishes you didn’t.
The odd couple invited U.S. TV cameras into their home for Ben & Jen: A Dateline Special in 2003, and were candid about their romance, but Affleck has nothing but bad memories about the intimate portrayal - and he wishes he had said no to the idea.
Now happily married to Jennifer Garner - the mother of his two kids - Affleck admits the special he shot with Lopez is one of his biggest career regrets.
He tells WENN, "That special was before the movie came out and I did it at the request of the people who financed the movie. I wish I hadn’t done it.
"At a certain point I think you have to strike a balance between what you owe people who finance your work and the degree to which you can protect the integrity of your personal life.
"In that case, I erred on the side of not sufficiently protecting my own privacy. If I could do it all again I would not have done that TV special and I will not do anything like it in the future."

COHEN FACES ADULT CINEMA RATING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:00 am

Comedian SACHA BARON COHEN’s racy new film BRUNO is facing an adults-only certification in the U.S. - amid fears it may be too sexually explicit for young viewers.
The film’s first review by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) panel has resulted in the restricted NC-17 cinema rating, which would prevent anyone under the age of 17 from seeing the movie, according to TheWrap.com.
The movie is a follow up to Cohen’s cult hit Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, and follows his outrageous Austrian fashion-forward character Bruno as he attempts to make it big in Hollywood.
Ratings officials are reportedly concerned over several sexually explicit scenes, including one where Cohen’s character engages in what appears to be anal sex with another man.
Confirming the rating, a spokesperson for movie studio Universal adds, "On its first submission the film did not receive an R (less restrictive rating), but it is far too early to say that there is any struggle to get there as the process is only at its inception." Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Males Visibly Uncomfortable in the Presence of a Gay Foreigner in a Mesh T-Shirt is expected to be released in July (09).

MACY CHOSE DRIVING OVER SEX

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:57 am

WILLIAM H. MACY blew the chance to lose his virginity on his school prom night - so he could cruise around in his brother’s car.
The star’s sibling loaned him his prized vehicle for the big night, and Macy chose the car over a guaranteed night of passion with his eager date.
Macy tells Parade magazine, "The prom was a big deal, but I didn’t lose my virginity on prom night like I was supposed to have done. My prom date had told her parents that she wouldn’t be home because she was going to spend the night with her girlfriend. Of course, there was a hotel room available to us. But all I wanted to do was drive the damn car. I thought, ‘I can get laid any time, but my brother will never loan me this car again.’" (IG/STR/LR) WENN - FIFTH - INTERNATIONAL MUSIC NEWS - 30 MAR 2009

DALTREY ON THE HUNT FOR A CHARITY SUCCESSOR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:54 am

Campaigning rocker ROGER DALTREY is hunting for a musician to take over his role as organiser of the Teenage Cancer Trust Charity concerts.
The Who frontman has been planning the annual fundraiser at London’s Royal Albert Hall since 2000, but reveals the job is getting harder and harder each year.
He wants to find someone younger and more energetic to replace him.
Daltrey recently told the BBC, "I would love to find someone from a younger generation to take over from me. It does take an awful lot of energy. I call it my yearly breakdown." And Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones reveals he and Oasis star Noel Gallagher have both been approached to take Daltrey’s place.
Jones says, "He’s asked me and Noel a couple of times to our faces. If you’re in a band and you can help people who are worse off, it’s not really much to ask for. But it’s a big job and we’re like, ‘Come on Roger, you’d do it a lot better than us’, and he carries on doing it.
"I think he does get a bit embarrassed - that might not be the right word - but I think he does know that he’s pestering people all the time to do it, but good on him. I think somebody does need to pester people to do stuff like this, and if he’s the one doing it, then good on him".
But Jones admits he would consider the job, one day: "It depends how much time it involves. I think it’s an important thing for somebody to do."

GABRIEL URGES MEXICAN LEADER TO STOP ‘FEMINICIDE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:54 am

Rocker PETER GABRIEL urged Mexican leader FELIPE CALDERON to step up efforts to end violence against women in his country during a weekend meeting with the President.
Gabriel, who is in Mexico as part of a South American tour, met with President Calderon on Friday (27Mar09) on behalf of human rights group Witness, which the rock star founded in 1992.
The long-time Amnesty International activist expressed his concern about the "feminicide" currently sweeping through Ciudad Juarez and Chihuahua in Mexico.
He was joined by actor Diego Luna, Mexican rocker Saul Hernandez and Patricia Cervantes, the mother of Neyra Cervantes - whose 2003 murder was the subject of a Witness film.
According to the human rights group, more than 470 women have been violently killed in Ciudad Juarez and Chihuahua in the past 15 years. There are no definitive explanations for the killings.
A spokeswoman for Witness says, "We are thrilled by President Calderon’s response to our meeting. His commitment to review cases and issues related to feminicide in Ciudad Juarez and Chihuahua means renewed hope for the families of hundreds of murdered women."

HENDRIX HOME FLATTENED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:51 am

The childhood home of JIMI HENDRIX is to be demolished after a last-minute bid to save the property failed.
City officials told the dilapidated home’s current owner, Pete Sikov, he had until Friday (27Mar09) to demolish the eyesore, which stands at the entrance to his trailer park.
Owner Pete Sikov, who moved the two-bedroom home to Renton, Washington from Seattle in 2005, began dismantling it on Thursday (26Mar09).
This came after city officials rejected a bid to keep the house standing when film producer and Hendrix fan Michael Mycon offered to put up cash to turn the property into an office and information centre.
By Monday morning (30Mar09), the roof of the home was gone and city officials insist the entire property will be flattened by the end of the day.
According to reports, Sikov signed an agreement allowing city bosses to fine him $5,000 (£3,570) if he did not bulldoze the property by Friday.
Sikov’s trailer-home park, Hi-Land Mobile Manor, is just across the street from Hendrix’s final resting place in Greenwood Memorial Park.
The owner had planned to turn the small house into a Hendrix museum, but plans to do this and subsequent hopes of selling the dilapidated property he bought in 2001 fell through.
Sikov initially plans to store the Hendrix memorabilia he has dismantled.

KEITH FLINT: ‘I’M NOT SCARY’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:48 am

Shock rocker KEITH FLINT is baffled by his reputation as the scariest man in music, insisting he just expresses himself.
The Prodigy frontman’s wild hair, eyeliner, piercings and energetic stage routine earned him the tag during the band’s 1990s heyday.
The dance group were regular fixtures in the British press and attracted thousands of complaints from parents who considered Flint "too scary" for their kids.
The singer admits the publicity was great for the band, helping them sell 16 million albums worldwide, but he insists he never courted the controversy.
The 39-year-old tells WENN, "To be honest, the scary thing, I don’t get it. People being scared of people expressing themselves… That’s how I behave when I’m getting off on something I love.
"It’s self expression. I think anyone who’s willing to be brutally honest with who they are and express themselves is always going to get the oddball label, the pyscho label, the twisted label. That’s what happens. We’re all taught to blend in and behave. I’m not scary. It’s scary for people to see someone being nonconformist.
"I’ve always been an attention seeker. I’ve always demanded attention and I’ll do anything to get it." And Flint’s bandmate Liam Howlett insists music needs more people like him: "I think Henry Rollins said, ‘Every generation needs a ‘f**k you guy’. I don’t think there is one at the moment."

TRICK DADDY STOPS LUPUS TREATMENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:45 am

Rapper TRICK DADDY is refusing to undergo treatment as he battles autoimmune disease Lupus.
The Miami, Florida native, real name Maurice Young, recently revealed he has been fighting the illness in secret for 12 years.
He said during a radio interview, "I went to the doctor, like, 12 years ago. She took all kinds of tests, because I was trying to get rid of what we call dry skin; she did biopsies and blood tests and swab tests. She told me I have lupus." But the Let’s Go star has now stopped taking medication to slow down the progression of the disease from drying out his skin to ravaging his inner organs - because he’s sick of all the side effects.
He tells HipHopDX.com, "I stopped taking any medicine that they was (sic) giving me, because for every medicine they gave me, I had to take a test or another medicine every 30 days or so to make sure that medicine wasnât causing side effects â dealing with kidney or liver failureâ¦I just said all together I ainât (sic) taking no (sic) medicine.â But Trick Daddy refuses to reveal whether he’s quit smoking - an activity that can increase the outbreak of skin lesions associated with Lupus.
When asked if he’s kicked his nicotine addiction, he replies, "We ain’t (sic) gon’ ask that question. Just pray for me. Help me help myself so we can help others."

MILANO URGES TROUBLED STARS TO TRY SPORTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:42 am

Actress ALYSSA MILANO is convinced hard-partying Hollywood stars would avoid trouble with the law if they gave up their wild lifestyles and followed sports instead.
The former child star - who rose to fame in 1980s U.S. TV series Who’s The Boss? - admits she could’ve easily become fodder for tabloid gossips.
But Milano credits her love of baseball with keeping her out of a bad crowd, in her new book Safe at Home.
She says, "In the craziness of growing up in this industry and being a child star, I always felt safe at home… The beauty about going to see a baseball game is you have 40,000 people concentrated on one result. So it’s easy to leave everything behind and focus on what’s happening - which is your team. I think that for me, if I had the choice of going to a club and (start) underage drinking, I chose the sporting event everytime."
