DURST PLANS PSYCHO KILLER FILM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:36 pm

Rocker-turned-director FRED DURST is set to follow up his acclaimed drama THE EDUCATION OF CHARLIE BANKS with a horror movie.
The Limp Bizkit frontman was widely lauded for his work on the independent picture, starring Jason Ritter and Susan Sarandon’s daughter Eva Amurri, even winning the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival’s Made in NY Narrative Award, which recognises the best narrative film made in New York.
But the star is now set to explore even darker cinematic themes - with a horror movie about a psychotic murderer.
He tells the New York Post’s gossip column Page Six, "My next film is called Psycho Killer about a serial killer on a mission.
"I love the title. But it’s not a throwaway, quick-fix slasher film - it’s like a Silence Of The Lambs."

LEACHMAN REVEALS HACKMAN FLING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:36 pm

Veteran actress CLORIS LEACHMAN has opened up about her brief romance with GENE HACKMAN - the pair enjoyed one night of passion in the 1970s.
The 82-year-old Oscar-winner reveals the brief affair in her forthcoming memoirs, Cloris, detailing how dinner with the actor lead to a steamy one-off encounter while they were both shooting movies in San Francisco, California.
She writes, "As we moved into the main course, it was as if a cosmic wind enveloped us. Some giant space magnet was pulling us together. We didn’t finish the meal. We went upstairs, flew into bed and made love. It was epic. And the next morning, Gene went back to his film and I went back to mine. I haven’t seen Gene since that night, but I remember well the feisty lad he was." Leachman also admits coming close to having an affair with her childhood friend Andy Williams, claiming the musician harboured an "enduring passion" for her, according to New York Post gossip column PageSix, but a stash of photographs of his wife and daughter prevented them from taking their love any further.
Leachman has five children with Hollywood mogul George Englund, who she was married to from 1953 to 1979.

COWELL IN ‘SPONGER’ ROW WITH PRINCE PHILLIP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:35 pm

Music mogul SIMON COWELL is at the centre of a row with the British royal family - after accusing PRINCE PHILLIP of labelling him a "sponger".
The American Idol judge told U.S. TV host Jay Leno that the husband of British monarch Queen Elizabeth II had insulted him following the Royal Variety Show in London in 2007 and also claimed that the Queen had snubbed him.
He said: "At the end, if you are involved in it, you have to stand around for hours and then say hello. She (the Queen) ignored me and her husband called me a sponger. That means somebody who makes their money by sponging off other people. It was a bit embarrassing. It was a bit awkward." But Prince Phillip has hit back at the allegations - insisting Cowell must have misheard him.
A spokesman for Buckingham Palace says, "The Duke of Edinburgh categorically did not call Mr Cowell a sponger. He has no reason to. He has said he does no know enough about Mr Cowell to make any sort of comment about him. Mr Cowell may have misheard the Duke, he has a very soft voice."

LENNON’S SISTER FACING LAWSUIT OVER FILM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:35 pm

A film about the early life of BEATLES legend JOHN LENNON has been thrown into jeopardy - the star’s sister is facing legal action over the book on which the movie is based.
Lennon’s sister Julia Baird collaborated with Geoffrey Giuliano on John Lennon, My Brother, which was published in the late 1980s.
Baird went on to pen her own book, 2007’s Imagine This: Growing Up With My Brother John Lennon.
But Giuliano has accused Baird of basing her biography on his previous research into Lennon’s life.
And now he is set to launch a legal battle over new movie Nowhere Boy - which is based on Baird’s book - claiming he is entitled to 50 per cent of her earnings from the picture.
He says, "In doing my own research, I filled in a lot of blanks for her. More than half the material in the book is a result of my research.
"Additional information in Imagine This was uncovered by me in my original research. I was the person who conceptualised the original book." The movie will star Kristin Scott Thomas and Anne-Marie Duff and is set for release in 2010.

PET SHOP BOYS IN ALBUM BLUNDER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:42 am

The PET SHOP BOYS could miss out on their first number one album in the U.K. in 15 years after a series of errors by blundering record label bosses.
The duo’s new effort Yes was 1,200 sales behind Ronan Keating’s record Songs For My Mother in the album charts in their native U.K. on Thursday (26Mar09).
But the pair - comprising Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe - would have pulled ahead of singer Keating had their record label Parlophone not put the album up for sale on iTunes three days too early.
The early sale meant the 2,500 copies of the album that sold last weekend (begs20Mar09) do not count towards this week’s chart sales.
And in a further blow to the stars, online retailers have also claimed that they have not been provided with enough copies of the CD to meet fan demands.
A spokesman for the band says, "Many people have been unable to buy it this week. Neil and Chris are very disappointed.â€

Robert O’Ryan, 34, was allegedly caught by security on Monday (23Mar09) as he tried to jump a fence at CBS Studios in Los Angeles, where the show was filming.

He was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning (24Mar09).
O’Ryan later admitted he was attempting to meet the 17-year-old, reportedly telling cops that he had "packed all his belongings and permanently left Florida to drive out here to be with (Johnson)." SNIPES FACING INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL BAN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 am

Shamed actor WESLEY SNIPES could be restricted from travelling abroad after he attended a lavish party in Dubai in November (08) while appealing a tax conviction.
The Blade star was handed a three-year prison sentence for tax evasion last year (08) after officials found him guilty of failing to file taxes for five years.
He is currently free on a $1 million (£700,000) bond pending an appeal.
While waiting for the outcome of the appeal, Snipes has been allowed to travel abroad for work commitments - with a federal judge ruling the star could fly to London and Bangkok, Thailand to work on movies Gallowwalker and Chasing The Dragon.
Snipes has now asked for permission to travel to Namibia to reshoot scenes for Gallowwalker and then to Italy to film a new action movie.
But prosecutors in Florida are requesting a judge ban him from travelling internationally - because he was snapped attending an "unauthorised" $20 million (£14 million) party in Dubai for the opening of the Atlantis Hotel resort.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said in court papers filed in Ocala, Florida on Tuesday (24Mar09): "Defendant Snipes abused the Court’s trust, and did so in a very public way. For that reason alone, the Court should deny his current request for international travel." The federal prosecutors also requested that Snipes’ bond be revoked pending the appeal.

PENN NARRATES HARROWING DOCUMENTARY ABOUT CHILD ABUSE SCANDAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:55 am

Oscar winner SEAN PENN has narrated a new TV documentary, which chronicles the injustices surrounding dozens of parents who were jailed on bogus child-abuse charges in Bakersfield, California in the 1980s.
The actor didn’t hesitate to get involved in the project, called Witch Hunt, because he wanted to expose those in public office who had made decisions that wrecked innocent families.
He tells TV Guide magazine, "Lives were shattered for the personal and political gain of the District Attorney’s office and the Sheriff’s Department in Kern County. Many of those corrupt officials continue to hold those positions today.
"There’s a very current issue here." Penn hopes the film, which will air in America on 12 April (09), prompts people to question the evidence in high-profile cases and stand up to those in office who encourage and benefit from public hysteria.
He adds, "There are all too many examples of the way in which public opinion is swayed by tainted evidence and emotional and irrational decision making.
"The public hysteria that surrounded this case is every bit as essential to discuss as the public corruption. These lightning-rod crimes tend to challenge our lawful assumption of innocence until proof of guilt." In making the film, Penn admits he met many of the victims of the injustice and found them to be full of "unique gentleness and dignity".

ANTI-PAPARAZZI GROUP GO AFTER ‘RIHANNA’S LAW’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:55 am

An anti-paparazzi organisation, called STOPaprazzi, are calling for immediate law changes in America to stop websites and publications printing pictures of battered celebrities.
The activists claim websites were wrong to print a photograph of a bruised Rihanna, which was leaked following the singer’s alleged 8 February (09) altercation with then-boyfriend Chris Brown.
And STOPaprazzi leaders are championing a piece of legislation dubbed Rihanna’s Law, which would make gossip sites who printed the image as responsible for distributing the picture as those who leaked it.
In their online push for justice, the activists write, "The current law, Mel’s Law, requires that money changes hands in order for the person distributing the photo to be in violation of the law.
"As it stands, anyone can leak private victim photos and get away with it, as long as no one can prove they received money, which usually is unprovable because tabloids pay cash to third parties… The publication of Rihanna’s police victim photo was inexcusable and will likely help the alleged attacker’s case." The disturbing photograph in question has become a crucial piece of evidence in the case against Brown, who faces two felony assault counts and almost five years behind bars if convicted.
