JONES REFUSES TO PLEAD GUILTY IN ASSAULT CASE
Rapper JIM JONES has rejected a court recommendation to plead guilty to assault charges stemming from an altercation with NE-YO’s manager JAYVON SMITH last December (08).
The hip-hop star was in court on Tuesday (24Mar09) to face accusations of misdemeanour assault following a Christmas Eve (24Dec08) fight at a Louis Vuitton store in New York, where he and his entourage allegedly clashed with Smith.
Jones was offered a plea bargain from the district attorney - but maintained his innocence by refusing it, reports AllHipHop.com.
His attorney Scott E. Leemon says, "We rejected a recommendation from the D.A. that Jim plead guilty to a misdemeanour assault charge and a sentence of 10 days community service (and) 15 days (in) jail if he did not complete…
"There are no real injuries and an eyewitness has stated several times that Jim was not the person who started the physical altercation." The case has been postponed until 21 April (09).
