HAMMER: ‘DON’T FEEL SORRY FOR ME’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:36 pm

Rapper MC HAMMER will never complain about losing his fortune - because he made a conscious decision to try and keep 200 employees when he had no immediate income.
The U Can’t Touch This hitmaker famously went broke after his career nosedived in the early 2000s, but he refused to give up on those who had been part of his entourage at the height of his success a decade before.
He insists has no regrets and the rap star, real name Stanley Burrell, is convinced he saved lives by giving friends gainful employment.
He explains, "I decided that it was more profitable for me to employ 200 people and not take them off the payroll when I came off the road because, at that particular time, we were in the middle of the crack wars and everybody was dying and killing.
"Unless you lived it, you really can’t relate to it. To have friends that have grown up with you killing other friends over this new thing… The reciprocal thing that happened for me was God increased my appreciation for other things in life. It was a fair exchange as far as I’m concerned." And the rap star hopes his story will help those who are struggling to survive in the current tough economic climate.
Serving up a little spiritual advice on U.S. TV show Ellen on Tuesday (24Mar09), Hammer said, "They (people) really haven’t lost everything - and if they even interpret it that way, then they’re in trouble… Money can really be made again, as long as you’re living - there’s ideas, concepts, opportunities for employment.
"The first thing they should do is just sit down and regroup, have a conversation with self… and re-evaluate where you are right now."

MOTORHEAD STILL UPSET ABOUT GRAMMY AWARDS SNUB

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:36 pm

Rock star LEMMY is still sore about the fact MOTORHEAD never got to claim their Grammy at the official awards ceremony.
The hard rock trio claimed the Best Metal Performance honour for their cover of Metallica’s Whiplash back in 2005 at the 47th Grammys, but they had to collect their prize the day before the big event.
Lemmy tells America’s Spin magazine, "We didn’t get to go to the real Grammys ’cause we’re distasteful.
"Us and the Mexican jazz bands had to line up and get our stuff the previous afternoon."

CHAMBERLIN EXPLAINS HIS DECISION TO QUIT PUMPKINS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:36 pm

Former SMASHING PUMPKINS drummer JIMMY CHAMBERLIN has spoken out about his decision to quit the group last week (ends20Mar09), revealing he could no longer be a part of something he wasn’t "into".
The drummer has opened up about his choice to opt out of upcoming recording and touring commitments with frontman Billy Corgan in a blog post to fans.
He writes, "I can no longer commit all of my energy into something that I don’t fully possess. I won’t pretend I’m into something I’m not. I won’t do it to myself, you the fan, or my former partner. I can’t just, ‘Cash the check’ so to speak." But he insists he and Corgan have not fallen out over his departure: "My best goes out to Billy and I’m glad he has chosen to continue under the name. It is his right… There is no drama, bad blood." Corgan and Chamberlin regrouped as Smashing Pumpkins in 2004 after the band split in 2000. The drummer joined the group Corgan founded in 1988 and played on all their albums, except 1988’s Adore. He also joined Corgan in spin-off group Zwan.

JANE’S ADDICTION REUNION IS AWKWARD FOR FARRELL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:33 pm

JANE’S ADDICTION frontman PERRY FARRELL fears the group’s "awkward" reunion could be short lived if the bandmates can’t bury past differences and get on with making music.
Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery came together to receive a lifetime achievement award at the inaugural NME Awards USA last year (Apr08), and performed at the event. That led to reunion talks, low-key shows and eventually plans to tour with Nine Inch Nails this summer (09).
But the singer insists the reunion is far from harmonious.
After performing with his band in a former supermarket at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas last week (ends20Mar09), Farrell told Rolling Stone magazine, "It’s (reunion) very awkward. I have seen Eric maybe two times in 18 years very briefly, one time we almost got into a fistfight.
"We’re all getting to know each other now to see if we’ve all changed for the better, if we can like each other and find common ground and ways to do things that will be successful together."

COUPLE LISTENED TO SLIPKNOT MURDER SONG BEFORE KILLING FRIEND

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:33 pm

Rockers SLIPKNOT have been dragged into a murder trial after prosecutors discovered the band’s DISASTERPIECE was used to fire up a California woman before she agreed to help her boyfriend stab a pal to death.
Amber Rose Riley is accused of helping Jason Harris kill 22-year-old Terry Taylor in 2003.
Jurors in San Bernardino Superior Court heard Taylor was stabbed more than 20 times, and his neck was slashed in the brutal attack, orchestrated by Harris, who was sentenced to serve 50 years to life behind bars in August (08).
Deputy District Attorney Karen Khim told the court that Riley and her boyfriend listened to Slipknot’s song, which features lyrics about slitting a victim’s throat, before they attacked Taylor in a park. The couple also allegedly recited the lyrics as they stabbed their friend to death.
Harris reportedly told San Bernardino police detectives that he wanted to know what it was like to kill someone and Khim told the jury that Riley admitted to having "a fascination about what it would be like to see a dead body".
The trial, which began on Thursday (19Mar09), continues.

NIGHY OPTS OUT OF SEX SCENES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:33 pm

British actor BILL NIGHY has never filmed a sex scene for a movie - because he is too embarrassed by his body to ever strip off on camera.
The 59-year-old star has enjoyed a long and varied career, beginning in theatre and going on to land high profile roles in movies including the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and 2003’s Love Actually.
But Nighy admits he has always shied away from roles as the romantic lead - as he would never be brave enough to bare all for cinema audiences.
He says, "I’m too shy and I didn’t want to take my top off, as I’ve got a difficult body. I didn’t want to show anyone as I knew that when it got around to it, I was dead in the water (his body was not in shape), and if a future Mrs Nighy was out there I would be single for the rest of my life."

FALK’S DAUGHTER LOSES CONSERVATORSHIP BATTLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:30 pm

COLUMBO star PETER FALK’s daughter will have to prove that she and her father were close before he developed Alzheimer’s Disease if she wants to pay him regular visits.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Aviva K. Bobb has dismissed Catherine Falk’s request for conservatorship for Falk, but she has scheduled a hearing in May (27May09) to decide whether court intervention is necessary to allow visits between the actor and his daughter.
Judge Bobb, who recently oversaw Britney Spears’ bid to extend restraining orders against ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib and former manager Sam Lutfi, will determine just how close Falk and his daughter were before he fell ill at the evidentiary hearing.
Catherine Falk petitioned for a conservatorship in December, revealing her father was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and advanced dementia. She claimed Falk’s wife, Shera, was preventing her from visiting her father.
Bobb previously granted Catherine Falk a 30-minute supervised visit with her father last month (Feb09), after the actor’s daughter revealed she had not seen the TV favourite for six months.

Both artists have been working on solo projects since the release of 2003’s super-successful double album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below.

He says, "As soon as Dre finishes his solo record, we’ll get the Kast cranking. T-PAIN HIT WITH BREACH OF CONTRACT LAWSUIT OVER CANCELLED GIG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

Singer/rapper T-PAIN is facing a $5 million (£3.4 million) legal battle with concert promoters in Guyana after pulling out of a gig because of death and kidnapping threats.
The Can’t Believe It hitmaker, real name Faheem Najm, was scheduled to perform as part of the carnival celebrations in the South American country in February (23Feb09).
But he cancelled the show after finding himself targetted by an unidentified attacker, who was threatening him in emails and telephone calls.
Now T-Pain, his company Nappy Boy Touring and promotions firm Chase Entertainment have been slapped with a breach of contract lawsuit by executives at Hits and James Entertainment.
They claim T-Pain’s last-minute cancellation caused chaos for them, insisting reports of the death threats were never substantiated.
They also allege the star made excessive demands for his tour rider, which included plane tickets for an entourage of 12, a four star hotel, a private jet, and FBI protection.
T-Pain was reportedly given a $75,000 (£51,725) advance, which Chase Entertainment officials have offered to return to Hits and James.
Chase Entertainment’s David Abram says, "We feel horrible about not being able to play the concert. We are going to do what needs to be done to make this right with the promoters. They’re a good company. We’re a good company.'’ But Hits and James Entertainment bosses have pressed ahead with legal action, filing their lawsuit in Broward Circuit Court in Florida on Monday (23Mar09).
They are also suing for libel, defamation and are seeking damages and legal costs.
