WEST SLAMS DENIM ‘LIES’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

Rapper KANYE WEST has blasted reports he’s set to launch a clothing line with British denim brand Religion, insisting he’s never even heard of the company.
The Stronger hitmaker has become known for his fashion-forward dress sense and recently launched two special sneaker ranges - one with Louis Vuitton and another with Nike.
West was alleged to be in talks with Religion bosses about the possibility of a collaborative clothing line, with British tabloid the Daily Mirror claiming he had been "getting tips from the jeans company" after asking to "meet the head honchos" of the label.
But the hip-hop star has dismissed the reports.
In a post on his official website, he writes, "This is a lie and I don’t even know this brand!"

WEINBERG TO BE REPLACED BY HIS SON ON SPRINGSTEEN SHOWS IN EUROPE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN’s regular E STREET BAND drummer MAX WEINBERG will be replaced by his son in a string of European shows this summer (09), so his dad can concentrate on his TV career.
Weinberg’s band The Max Weinberg Seven will take over as the house band on America’s Tonight Show in June (09) - and the group’s first TV appearances in Los Angeles coincide with Springsteen’s shows in Europe.
So the respected drummer has offered up his talented 19-year-old son, Jay, as his E Street Band replacement.
In a statement, Springsteen jokes, "We promise to return him (Jay Weinberg) in one piece." Max Weinberg joined the E Street Band in 1974 and hasn’t missed a single show since. His son, who drums for heavy metal band The Reveling, has reportedly been rehearsing with the E Street Band in New Jersey for the past week.
E Street Band guitarist Steve Van Zandt recently told Rolling Stone magazine he couldn’t imagine touring without Max Weinberg: "It’s hard for me to picture a show without Max, honestly… There’s no drummer that could replace Max. There might be someone temporary that comes in and we’ll have to adjust the show accordingly.
"What nobody understands is that not only is Max a great drummer, Max reads Bruce’s mind. You can’t learn that. That’s impossible to learn. You could spend months rehearsing and you’ll never get that." Jay Weinberg becomes the latest rock offspring to replace his father in current classic rock line-ups - Rick Wakeman’s son Adam has taken over keyboard duties in Yes and Jurgen Blackmore has taken his father Ritchie’s place in the reunited Rainbow line-up. Meanwhile, Eddie Van Halen’s teenage son Wolfgang has signed on as Van Halen’s permanent bass player.

MCCREADY FIGHTS FOR SON’S CUSTODY WITH EX

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

Troubled country star MINDY MCCREADY is fighting to regain custody of her three-year-old son with the ex-boyfriend she accused of trying to kill her.
Billy McKnight was charged with attempted murder and served 30 days in jail in 2005 following claims he beat and choked the singer. The case was later dismissed.
McCready’s mother, Gayle, won custody of little Zander in 2007 after a fight with the singer, and McKnight was granted visitation rights.
She has now left Nashville, Tennessee and relocated to McKnight’s native Florida in a bid to win back custody of her child.
McKnight tells U.S. tabloid The National Enquirer, "(We’re) getting back on track and learning to treat each other kindly. We’re trying to get past all the bad stuff we’ve been through.
"We both came to the realisation we have to do everything we can to do right by our son. As far as our relationship as a couple, let’s just say we’re taking baby steps right now." McCready has endured a series of personal struggles in recent years. In 2008, the singer made an alleged suicide attempt, admitted to conducting a long-term affair with New York Yankees baseball star Roger Clemens, and was arrested in June (08) for violating her probation for prescription drug fraud.
She also checked into rehab in July (08) with some reports suggesting she had swallowed a lethal combination of vodka and prescription drug Ambien, used to treat insomnia.

BATMAN BOSS’ BROTHER ARRESTED ON MURDER AND KIDNAPPING ALLEGATIONS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:21 pm

The brother of BATMAN BEGINS and THE DARK KNIGHT director CHRISTOPHER NOLAN is facing murder and kidnapping charges following his arrest by FBI agents in Chicago, Illinois last month (Feb09).
Matthew Francis Nolan, who was also under investigation by Chicago authorities over his alleged involvement in a $700,000 (£486,100) bank fraud scheme, was taken into custody on suspicion of the 2005 killing of Florida businessman Robert C. Cohen.
The warrant for his arrest was originally issued in Costa Rica, where 40-year-old Nolan was reportedly posing as Cohen’s potential business partner. However, authorities claim Nolan was actually hired to recover the $7 million (£4.86 million) Cohen owed another Florida mogul.
He and his accomplice, Douglas Mejia, allegedly kidnapped Cohen and attempted to extort the cash from his family. Costa Rican officials allege the pair murdered the businessman when the bribe failed.
Mejia has already been convicted for his involvement, while Nolan is being held in Chicago until he can be extradited and tried for the charges, according to the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper.

HIP-HOP PRODUCER SUES WEST PARTY ORGANISERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

A veteran hip-hop manager is suing organisers of KANYE WEST’s 30th birthday celebration, alleging he was injured by falling decorations at the rapper’s event.
Steve Lobel, who manages Grammy-winning rappers Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, has filed suit against French fashion brand Louis Vuitton and New York events promoter Tony Berger, of Relevent Group LLC, in Queens Supreme Court.
Lobel was partying with West’s celebrity pals, including Rihanna, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Jay-Z, Usher and Mariah Carey, at the 7 June 2007 bash when the incident occurred.
A temporary panel at the venue - the fashion brand’s New York store on Fifth Avenue - fell off the wall and allegedly struck the producer.
He is demanding unspecified damages from the company, insisting Louis Vuitton bosses used unstable panelling to "obscure the store’s merchandise and create a club look".
Berger tells the New York Daily News, "We were aware of the incident. We reported it to our insurance carrier, and it is being handled by them."
