RIHANNA’S CAR PULLED OVER BY COPS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:27 pm

Newly-single singer RIHANNA found herself in the middle of a legal mess in Los Angeles on Wednesday (18Mar09) after her chauffeur-driven car was pulled over by cops.
Just hours after a German website reported the singer had split from boyfriend Chris Brown, the Umbrella hitmaker was hauled over by police officers who spotted her cruising along in an illegal car.
The singer kept a low profile in the back of the vehicle while the driver was issued a ticket for a missing license plate and unlawfully-tinted windows.
Rihanna has been the subject of a negative press campaign during the past month after reconciling with Brown following his alleged brutal assault on her, which left the singer black and blue and in need of medical attention.

FOSTER REMEMBERS ‘BRILLIANT, BEAUTIFUL’ RICHARDSON

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:27 pm

JODIE FOSTER has become the latest star to pay tribute to actress NATASHA RICHARDSON, who died on Wednesday (18Mar09).
In a statement, Foster, who starred alongside the Brit and her husband Liam Neeson in 1994 movie Nell, remembers Richardson as a woman who "loved fiercely".
She says, "Natasha was brilliant, beautiful, funny, talented beyond measure, as emotionally raw as she was razor sharp.
"Tasha loved fiercely and that love continues in all of us who knew her. May Liam, her beautiful boys and her loving family hold her close as they move through this tragic moment." Demi Moore has also paid her respects in a message on her Twitter.com message board.
She writes, "I am sending out prayers for Natasha Richardson and her family. A real reminder of how precious life is and how quickly it can be gone." And another tribute has come in from Mia Farrow, who has revealed the late actress was godmother to two of her adopted kids.
Farrow, who appeared in Widow’s Peak with Richardson, tells WENN, "Tasha is irreplaceable. I cannot think of anyone kinder, more generous, thoughtful, smarter or more fun.
"She is the godmother of two of my children. The Neesons… have always made me feel a part of their wonderful family. My thoughts and prayers are with them." Richardson passed away after suffering a brain injury in a fall while taking skiing lessons in Montreal, Canada on Monday (16Mar09).

GROHL WOWS DINERS WITH THREE-MINUTE CLASSIC ROCK MEDLEY AND ACID CHAT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

FOO FIGHTERS star DAVE GROHL wowed the intimate crowd at Los Angeles’ Largo dinner club on Wednesday night (18Mar09) as he ripped through his favourite classic rock songs during a three-minute medley with composer/singer JON BRION.
Grohl was an unannounced guest on comedian Greg Proops’ monthly Largo chat show - and he wowed diners with career tales.
But it was his jam with resident venue performer Brion which proved the highlight of the night - the pair performed classics by Rush, Foghat, Eddie Money and the Edgar Winter Group in a three-minute medley.
Grohl also performed a reading of the selected lyrics of heavy metal group Manowar.
Chatting to Proops, the rocker also recalled his first acid trip, revealing he tried to make himself a coffee while coming down from his high - and knocked himself out.
He said, "I saw this percolator… and all I could think was, ‘Coffee!’ So I take it down, plug it in, don’t put anything in it, and then, poof! I was thrown to the ground, in altered states, out of my mind! I was out for, like, two days."

COBAIN’S MUSIC A FLOP FOR LICENSING FIRM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

Tragic rocker KURT COBAIN’s music has proven to be a dud among advertisers and Hollywood studio executives - because few want to pay to use it in commercials and TV shows.
A company called Primary Wave Music Publishing bought a 50 per cent stake in Cobain’s catalogue from his widow Courtney Love in 2006 - for a reported $50 million (GBP35.7 million) - but bosses have had little luck making their investment pay off.
Business website Portfolio.com reports plans to place Cobain’s Nirvana songs in TV commercials, video games, ad campaigns and movies have backfired, and, as the 15th anniversary of the rock star’s death approaches, Primary Wave chiefs have earned just over $2 million (GBP1.4 million) on their investment.
A source tells the website that one deal to license a number of Nirvana songs to TV bosses at CBS for an episode of CSI: Miami fell through when Love, Primary Wave bosses and Cobain’s former bandmates asked for "twice the industry standard" in licensing fees.
Cobain committed suicide at his home in Seattle, Washington on 8 April, 1994.

DURST: ‘MY MUSIC FUELLED BULLIES’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 pm

LIMP BIZKIT mainman FRED DURST disbanded the group when he realised their music had become bullies’ anthems.
Durst reveals he was bullied at school and hated the idea that his music was a driving force for thugs who were picking on people just like him.
He tells Eonline.com, "I got beat up all the time in high school. I was the underdog. All of my angst comes from that (time) in my life.
"The irony is, Limp Bizkit, for a while, was the fuel for bullies to beat up a lot of these underdogs. That’s when I decided to stop. I was like, ‘You know, that’s me they’re beating up, and my music is fuelling them.’ So I held back for a while." Limp Bizkit recently reunited and have announced a string of 2009 summer dates around the world.

NEESON DIRECTOR ‘DEVASTATED’ BY RICHARDSON TRAGEDY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:18 pm

The director of the movie LIAM NEESON abandoned to be at his late wife’s bedside has spoken out about the family tragedy, revealing he’s "devastated".
Neeson quit the production of Chloe in Toronto, Canada on Monday (16Mar09) after learning his wife Natasha Richardson had been hospitalised in Montreal, Canada after a fall during a skiing lesson.
The Irish actor then flew his dying wife to New York, where he was joined by family members and close friends at the Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. Richardson passed away on Wednesday (18Mar09).
Moviemaker Atom Egoyan, who was working with Neeson on Chloe, when the actor first heard his wife was in a critical condition, admits he’s still coming to terms with the tragedy.
He says, "I had the opportunity to meet Natasha at the opening of the play I did with Liam in New York last year (08). Her intense pride and affection for her husband was so clear, as was his passion and love for her. I’m so devastated for Liam’s loss." The producers of Chloe plan to reschedule shooting to accommodate Neeson as he makes funeral arrangements and spends time with his family.
A statement reads, "The entire cast and crew of Chloe are bereft. Our hearts go out to Liam and his family at this difficult time.
"Chloe will continue with its production schedule, focusing on scenes which feature other cast members. There are some scenes with Liam Neeson which have not been completed, however, we do not feel this is the time to address that matter. Our concern is for Liam and his family at this difficult time."

RUSH ROCKER’S PARENTS MET IN AUSCHWITZ

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:39 pm

RUSH rocker GEDDY LEE’s parents met and fell in love as teenagers in the Auschwitz Nazi concentration camp.
The singer/bassist is inspired by the story of how his mother and father survived The Holocaust and escaped from Poland to Canada, where Lee - real name Gary Weinrib - was born.
The 55-year-old reveals, "When the Nazis came into the Polish town where my mother lived, they kept the Jews in a ghetto and then marched them to a labour camp. My father was from a different village, but was at the same work camp. They were 12 or 13, and then they were both sent to Auschwitz. My father would bribe the guards to give her shoes or food, little signs of affection. They fell in love in that horrible environment. Then she was transferred to Bergen-Belsen, and after the war she assumed he hadn’t survived. My dad made a point of finding her." And he insists the Holocaust has always been a part of his life: "We grew up very aware of The Holocaust. My mother’s 83, and she freaks out if I leave a door unlocked. Holocaust survivors don’t ever really feel secure. They’re always waiting for those soldiers to come back. I was lucky that I had my dad for 12 years, and my mum’s still going strong at 83."

SKINNER’S SKY DISPLAY PLANS SCRAPPED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:36 pm

THE STREETS star MIKE SKINNER was forced to scrap plans to hire the famous Red Arrows formation flying team to spice up his festival performances this summer - after discovering he couldn’t afford them.
The musician dreamed up the idea of having the ace Royal Air Force (RAF) pilots write his catchphrase "Go Low" in fuel vapour in the sky at a string of outdoor concerts.
But his plans were scrapped by his frugal manager, who insisted the Red Arrows cost too much - and pointed out all his festival performances are at night.
Skinner writes online, "Originally my plan was for the Red Arrows in full formation to do a fly-by trailing red white and blue smoke just as we go onstage and then at around the midway marker, to write GO LOW in multi-coloured smoke in the sky behind the stage. There were a few objections to this by my manager who likes to ruin everything. Firstly he said that money would be an issue hiring the RAF plus jet fuel to keep eight of those things in the sky. Secondly, we’re mostly playing at night which tends to hinder people’s ability to see writing in the sky." Instead, the star has come up with a cheaper aerial display: "We are instead having a banner made with the Streets logo and relevant wording written to be dragged oversite during the day of the performance. It’s a childhood dream to have my words written in the sky."
